केंद्रीय खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्री बनने के बाद पहली बार चिराग पासवान पटना पहुंचे। पटना एयरपोर्ट पर समर्थकों द्वारा उनका स्वागत किया गया। इस दौरान मीडिया से बात करते हुए चिराग पासवान ने कहा, प्रधानमंत्री ने मुझे खाद्य प्रसंस्करण मंत्रालय की महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी दी है। हमारा देश मुख्य रूप से कृषि प्रधान देश है और कृषि आधारित राज्य के रूप में बिहार की इसमें महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। आप सभी ने मुझे 'बिहार फर्स्ट, बिहारी फर्स्ट' पहल के माध्यम से यह कहते सुना होगा कि बिहार में प्रसंस्करण इकाइयां होनी चाहिए ताकि किसानों की आय बढ़े। उन्होंने कहा, बिहार में जो उत्पादन होते हैं हाजीपुर का केला, मुजफ्फरपुर के लीची, मखाना, आम इन सभी प्रोडक्ट को हम चाहेंगे कि बिहार में ही पैकेजिंग हो और इससे किसानों को लाभ मिले.
