00:02:45The crown is yours. Today is Friday, June 28th, and we are back in studio
00:02:53Back alive barely and we're ready to have a great show technically alive
00:02:58technically alive brains might be dead for a body or heart still beating and
00:03:03It's still beating because we had such an electric first round of the NBA draft. Oh my god
00:03:07It was thrilling for everybody. I think I actually had second round grades on everybody selected in this draft
00:03:13Mmm entire first round and the second round included. Yeah, I mean the the the most notable things have happened so far in the draft
00:03:20We're actually recording this right before we think
00:03:22Bronnie's gonna get drafted by the Lakers
00:03:24Apparently Rich Paul has been calling everyone saying that if he doesn't get drafted by the Lakers of the Suns. He's going, Australia
00:03:32No, get ready to put another strip on the Barbie. Yeah, get ready to learn Australian, buddy
00:03:37But so we're waiting for that Oh Kim Spencer just got not drafted drafted Kim Spencer just got drafted by
00:03:44Wait, I thought oh, yeah
00:03:47Celtics are up
00:03:49the
00:03:51draft
00:03:52The biggest note I had was Alex are the second pick your Washington Wizards baby
00:03:58Wimby does look like Caitlin Clark. That's fine. You see that that
00:04:02Viral tree I did see it and it it's hard. It's like the Trey Aikman
00:04:07Jay-z, she's a winner. Yeah, well kind of
00:04:10Well, I mean I would I would be ecstatic if the Wizards lost like three NBA championships in a row
00:04:15Yeah, that would give me so much fun stuff to root for true. Hey, I'm into that
00:04:19What if the cells did the funniest thing ever and drafted brown? I would love it. It'd be amazing
00:04:23All right, we'll find out in a second. Yeah, this was the least notable NBA draft
00:04:28I I'm hoping this draft we took we go back to it and we're like it was so loaded. Everyone got it wrong
00:04:34That's what I'm rooting for there
00:04:35Maybe there's some people in the second round that are gonna be great
00:04:37I got two things. I'm a little bit pissed off about permission to go there. Yeah
00:04:42Do your fucking trades like a normal league correct do your trades normally don't announce them norm announce them normally
00:04:48Don't do them normally. They don't announce them announce them. Normally. Yeah, what the hell is going on via via via?
00:04:53No, just put a different logo on there. I'm dumb. I can't understand
00:04:57I see the first team and then I'm like, oh they're logos everywhere. That must be who this player is getting picked by
00:05:03Do it normally and then he announced it way after yeah, just tell me what happened. We know what happens
00:05:08Yeah, every other league has this figured out. Why does the NBA?
00:05:11What is it that's different about basketball? I don't know that makes them do it all very bizarre. Very bizarre. I hate it figure it out
00:05:18Number two the other team should draft
00:05:21Brawny take and hold them hostage for LeBron James to come rescue him
00:05:26I think we we talked about that like three weeks ago when we did our big draft preview huge draft preview
00:05:32But now everyone's giving credit to Bill Simmons for it. Yeah
00:05:36No, well, no, it happens. It happens. It happens in the podcasting game. Um
00:05:41Yeah, Brawny. This has been the whole broadcast by the way is just Brawny. That's why they went two days
00:05:47They did not need to go two days. I don't know why
00:05:50Here's another one NBA, I like it. I love basketball. I
00:05:56Love the NBA
00:05:58You're not the NFL. You don't get two days
00:06:01Okay, like did the the first round was already a bunch of French guys and people that we didn't watch play basketball last year
00:06:08And now you're gonna make us do two days of this. That's another thing too many French way too many French to me
00:06:14This is kind of the takeover is is happening. Dr. Mace Naismith is rolling over in his peach basket. Yeah
00:06:19I did the Bulls drafted Matas
00:06:23Boozless and I did actually see him up close and personal because he worked out at Barstool Chicago
00:06:27And I had a first for 1-1 great on here. Oh, did you yeah, that's tremendous value. Yep. I saw him
00:06:33He made some shots. No one was guarding him. How's he gonna pair with that guy is awesome
00:06:37How's he gonna pair with Josh Giddey fine good get along?
00:06:42He's French. No, he's he's from Hinsdale Hinsdale. Um, and he's got he's
00:06:50Parts like the biggest town and no, it's just that's where we just played Suns. That's where we play golf
00:06:55I think a lot of people are from Highland Park
00:06:59Matas what we're gonna say I I was going to call out Hank for laying down on the couch
00:07:04I'm trying to watch
00:07:06Well, that's why I turned it off and you were like
00:07:09You you but you asked what I was gonna say. That's what I was gonna say Hank. You got Baylor Shireman
00:07:13He's another guy you can mistake for Chris tops presingus. He's a lefty. I love I love love what I saw from Baylor
00:07:19Decided to have him on lefties are the best. Yeah
00:07:22I shoot the rock. I based my entire graph draft profile on what was that guy's name from Duke?
00:07:30Line Christian Laitner, you know
00:07:33No drafted by the piss not singler
00:07:38This hurts our NBA Street cred what the fuck was his name?
00:07:43He was a lefty. He I think he's still in the NBA
00:07:45He was a lefty and he and he Josh ribble behind his his back
00:07:52Lefty and hard. Oh, yeah, Luke canard. There is where he's played for now Clippers
00:07:58Sounds like you'd be duck Luke canard
00:08:01What does he play for?
00:08:03Memphis no
00:08:05Memphis I Hank you have selected Anton Watson from Gonzaga. Hell yeah Watson quick thoughts
00:08:12Ha ha and Tom what it's from Gonzaga
00:08:17Anton when I hear Anton you think it's aga. I think ha ha and
00:08:22Anton Walker
00:08:25Anton Watson is from Idaho nice
00:08:30It's like the France of the United States probably about the same size they both love potatoes
00:08:34Oh, this is a fun fact about Anton Watson. He went to
00:08:39Gonzaga prep school in Spokane, Washington, and then went to Gonzaga. That's fun. That's pretty cool. He's only played for Gonzaga
00:08:48Yeah, this draft is pretty unremarkable yet max, how do you how we feel about your fingernail bros
00:08:54Hold on meme just said that brought it breaking news breaking news breaking news
00:09:01JJ Redick looks weird in the Lakers hat. I'll say that right now breaking news
00:09:05Memes
00:09:10What's the breaking my brain is over I almost said the Los Angeles
00:09:14The Los Angeles Lakers ha ha are selecting Bronny James with the number 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft sources
00:09:22Say LeBron and Bronny James to become the first ever father-son
00:09:25Do to be in the NBA at the same time of all the shocking things I've seen in my life
00:09:28This has got to be number one. It wait isn't you appetism strikes again? Isn't he gonna go to Australia?
00:09:33He said if any team drafted him he's going to Australia
00:09:36Shams keeps getting his account locked. All right. I'm looking forward to Bronny on the Lakers. This is gonna be good for the storylines
00:09:45Yeah, how do you fall this way? How do you fall that far? That's crazy. Are they gonna live together?
00:09:50Like I said, what? Oh, no, we actually said in the Jimmy Tatro interview. Yeah, I can't say it again
00:09:55I'd be ripping off my own line
00:09:58All right. Congrats the Lakers
00:10:00Congrats to Bronny
00:10:02Congrats to Bronny well-deserved. I'm gonna say that I'm gonna be really nice humble
00:10:06You know what stinks though for Bronny going on your first like road trips with an NBA team. You're a baller
00:10:12Maybe you got a contract a few dollars in your pocket and then your dad is hanging out with you. Yeah
00:10:18But your dad, I mean, he'll show him. It'll be cool. You know, they'll have fun together
00:10:24So what doesn't JJ look weird in the Lakers hat?
00:10:27He looks weird in a hat, yeah, we need to get Will Compton's thoughts on that
00:10:32Sounds like you're being a hater. Do you hate JJ? All right, so Bronny's to the Lakers official
00:10:38No one could have seen that coming
00:10:40max
00:10:42fingernails
00:10:43Fingernails, I've painted my fingernails today for this for this five seconds for this five seconds. I read this. Yeah, why?
00:10:51Like immediately after I did it I regretted it who talked you into it
00:10:55Oh, look at the Lakers are shaking hand. We got him got her man. How do we do this? Wow?
00:11:01incredible work
00:11:04So max, yeah the fingernails or is that it
00:11:07No, I like Jerry McCain. I think he's good. I was like I was fired up about him last night and
00:11:13Then I think good. He is good
00:11:15He's very good
00:11:16and then I texted Paige and I was like
00:11:17Can you bring the fingernail and I did the fingernails thing this morning?
00:11:21The more time has passed the less I care about it and now I just have white white painted fingernails
00:11:27It's gonna be like that for a while. Yeah. No, I mean I can take them off
00:11:29Yeah, I but I had like last night. I was like, I'm gonna recreate all I'm gonna recreate his tick tocks
00:11:34I'm like, I'm not doing any of that. Yeah, you should create one
00:11:38Maybe I maybe I'll recreate one. Yeah, but he's the best shooter in the draft
00:11:43He's the best shooter since Steph Curry better than Reed Shepard Reed Shepard led the league in three-point percentage
00:11:49I'll read you this stat. There have been two freshmen in NCAA history with a
00:11:53point six eleven plus true shooting percentage
00:11:58To 210 three-point attempts and 150 plus rebounds and that's Jared McCain and Steph Curry
00:12:05Okay, but reach out out David Murphy, but Reed Shepard shot better from three
00:12:10I don't think you understood my stat that I just said
00:12:12Yeah, because I I don't think you understand my stat that I just said
00:12:16I you can choose your stats. I'll choose my stats. Okay, I you know what? I'm excited to see LeBron Brownie
00:12:23No, it's gonna be good. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be good for talking about basketball. Yeah, it's gonna be fun
00:12:27It's gonna get annoying because it's gonna be all a lot of people talk about basketball
00:12:33But I'm excited to watch them play together. It's cool father son
00:12:36That's that's fucking cool. If they throw if one of them throws an alley-oop to the other that's gonna be good moment
00:12:41It's gonna be crazy. But yeah, this is cool. I think it's kind of weird for brawny, but it's cool
00:12:47I think it's a little bit weird for both of them. Yeah. Oh
00:12:50Not for LeBron. He's LeBron. I don't think anything's weird for him anymore
00:12:54It's a little bit weird and we'll get to that with Jimmy Tatro. Yeah
00:12:58Okay, the other the only other story I had from this draftful Zacky D to the Grizzlies
00:13:03I was worried the Bulls were gonna take him. I wish him luck
00:13:06Congrats Zacky D for real being a top-ten pick because I think that was a lot of people were ripping him
00:13:14I always ripped him for different reasons not that he couldn't play basketball
00:13:17But a lot of people like oh, you know get ready to learn like Slovenian buddy top-ten pick pretty good made a lot of money
00:13:23We'll see how he gets officiated in the NBA. Yeah, that's fine
00:13:27Any other notable draft? I mean Dalton connect fell all the way to 17
00:13:32Which was a little shocking and I don't have any other big things except
00:13:38Kyle Phil Palsky story is very weird. It's it's
00:13:42Beyond weird also weird that we didn't find out about this till today
00:13:46Yeah that he didn't we didn't know about his old girlfriend who is potentially recruiting him to be a Mormon
00:13:52And he doesn't talk to his family
00:13:53Yeah, he's got a 28 year old girlfriend who has been dating him since he was a senior in high school
00:13:58It is funny that he got drafted by Utah. Yeah
00:14:00This is all part of the plan. Oh, but I think he fell in the draft because of this to Utah
00:14:05yeah, maybe Utah Utah told everyone I I think he fell in the draft because I think he was gonna be a first-rounder and
00:14:11he had
00:14:13apparently weird answers in his interviews and
00:14:17Yeah, didn't know that. It's very interesting. You know that it might have been the exact same thing as Bronny
00:14:22It's like if you draft him, he will instead just move to Utah. Yeah, so don't draft him
00:14:26Yeah, all right any other big pictures any other tea? You know what?
00:14:29I'm gonna get I'm gonna say it uh
00:14:32Everyone fill the need
00:14:33Yeah, hey, you know what everyone got a nice developmental project
00:14:37Mm-hmm that we would not be surprised looking back five years from now and saying that's a good role player
00:14:42I'm really rooting for this draft to be awesome because it would be great to just shine it on everyone's face
00:14:47Like no one knows Paul. That would be great. Yeah, but I think they even had it on the ESPN broadcasts after
00:14:54Zachariah
00:14:57The first pick overall, I think someone said like he's a great 3 and D guy role player type
00:15:03Yes, that's what you want to hear with the number one overall. Yeah, that's never that's never a great sign
00:15:08Okay
00:15:10Anything else before we kick it to ourselves again quick reminder about our schedule coming up Monday. We have Dungeons & Dragons Wednesday
00:15:17We'll have an update of all NBA free agency
00:15:21So it'll be a fresh show, but it'll be also dingers only and Gunnar Henderson
00:15:25So that is our schedule no show Friday
00:15:27And then we come back strong with Joe Burrow on the Monday after July 4th anything else. I think that's good
00:15:33Okay, NFL Sunday ticket lawsuit the NFL has to pay four point seven billion dollars
00:15:37But Mike Fleury said it's just gonna stay in appeals forever
00:15:40Yeah, probably but what does that mean four point seven billion does that mean we all get like 200 bucks?
00:15:46Sure, okay
00:15:47Debate thoughts before it happens. Oh
00:15:50I'm America lose. No, here's here's my problem with the debate tonight. This should have been my fire fest actually I
00:15:57Don't know who to vote for I'm undecided

00:16:00And I think they both made a lot of outstanding points tonight and did a great job
00:16:03And I think this is gonna be a very hard decision because they're both I'm I'm an undecided voter
00:16:08And this is it's making my life very tough. I
00:16:12Wish you asked this question
00:16:14America loses I have a country of 360 million people and all we can find is two guys that are fucking 80 years old and
00:16:22America loses to 80 year old guys with cokehead sons. Yeah. Yeah, uh good debate. That's actually the best part about them. Yeah

00:18:37Thank you for the submission for this Mount Rushmore the drunk episode
00:18:42While fun, I think you can't do it often because
00:18:47I think it's hard to listen to drunk people and also we all woke up with massive anxiety
00:18:52Massive massive anxiety, and I think we're all still dehydrated from it. Oh, yeah, Hank still wearing the shades right now
00:18:58Shut up body armor. Yep body armors help for sure it was a fun episode. It was good to hang with the boys
00:19:03Yeah, Gigi Reddick. What are your thoughts on Gigi Reddick? What are your thoughts on the McHale bridges trade max G Reddick I?
00:19:09Woke up with a ton of I I like drunk DM McHale no response
00:19:14Oh, that was a tough wake up and realize I was like why did I do that like that was so weird of me?
00:19:20Yeah, no, I don't love the McHale trade obviously, but that was
00:19:25It's like the best friends in the whole world that were also your best friends are now
00:19:29Excuse me playing for the team you don't like
00:19:33Yeah, no that sucks, and they're having a great time and Jay Wright's gonna coach him. Yep, but why do I hate JJ Reddick?
00:19:40What no max doesn't like JJ
00:19:45Big enemies, okay, so this is gonna be good one memes can you?
00:19:49Get a little bit contentious because the last one I feel like we were it was just like good pick good pick very supportive
00:19:55Where is it? It's in the ax well. It's cuz those things you say to your drunk friends. We were all drunk
00:19:59So we're like yep true. Yeah, we do say that yeah, we do Mount Rushmore's all right so the draft order this time
00:20:05I'm gonna start it, then it's big cat then it's Hank then it's
00:20:09Max and then we circle back then max okay
00:20:13Max is grabbing my Lucy's where's memes. I don't know what saw something's off with max and beams tonight
00:20:18Yeah, they feel like a little are they at each other's throats. I don't know what's going on. They're just a little off
00:20:24Maybe it's because their boss is massively hungover and
00:20:29Not shit rolls down. No they did great work yesterday now. I supervised the hell out of them. You did kill nothing
00:20:34We'll get to that with fire
00:20:36negative
00:20:39Negative
00:20:43Negative
00:20:45Okay, so PFT you have first pick yep Mount Rushmore of hobbies that become a person's
00:20:54personality one one
00:20:56CrossFit Oh
00:20:57CrossFit it consumes your life you have to start recruiting other people to go to CrossFit
00:21:03You put stickers all over your cars stickers on your laptops
00:21:06CrossFit okay, all right as a CrossFitter what as a CrossFitter
00:21:11I was once a CrossFitter
00:21:13I was able to stay out of the it becomes my entire personality
00:21:16But there are definitely a group of people who do CrossFit
00:21:21And they only become friends with other CrossFitters, and they talk about doing CrossFit
00:21:25They talk kind of faded the the fat of cry like it was the peak was probably about what maybe ten years ago
00:21:32There's a lot of gyms that are CrossFit adjacent now that open up
00:21:35Yeah, that but the the CrossFitter I'm talking about is yeah
00:21:38No that user all the lingo the one that they speak in CrossFit language
00:21:43Yeah, and they ask each other constantly how'd you do on the workout of the day?
00:21:46And then they end up getting massively massively injured yeah CrossFit
00:21:51And then they become a former CrossFitter
00:21:53And they try to rehab so they can get back into CrossFit injured again a vacation in CrossFit like oh
00:21:59There's a competition in San Diego. Let's go to some CrossFit you remember what they tried to put the CrossFit games on TV
00:22:04They might still be on TV. Yeah, yeah, and then they're like yeah
00:22:06This is the sport of the future people watch you know the original CrossFitter was
00:22:11Jesus yeah
00:22:12I had that on my list. It wasn't my one one though. I have a very clear one one
00:22:17I that was that was my one one okay?
00:22:20obviously my one one or I guess one two
00:22:24Swifties fuck had that on my list. I mean they're
00:22:28Number one yeah right now. They're the number one. Yeah, that is their hobby that becomes their entire personality
00:22:35Swifties if you if you see a Swiftie online, that's all they want to talk about is Swifties
00:22:41They talk about you know
00:22:43Travis and all that stuff
00:22:47That was yeah, that was gonna be my pick I thought I was gonna slip
00:22:51Yeah, that's a good pick Swifties
00:22:52I was thinking about it late last night
00:22:54And I was like I was going through the ones that will probably get picked. I was like Swifties are just
00:23:00They're all they have an entire world that they've constructed. Yeah, it's almost like a cinematic universe around Taylor Swift. Yeah
00:23:06Yeah, that was my one and two also yeah
00:23:09Yeah, tough
00:23:11Okay, Hank with the sunglasses on I think I might have just made us a last-minute switch
00:23:17I don't know if this is smart, but I'm gonna go with it
00:23:20New parents
00:23:22Okay, oh yeah new parents for sure mommy bloggers
00:23:26They have they have a kid and then their entire feed is just you know everything about the kid a hobby
00:23:30It's having a child a hobby
00:23:33It's your I'll take it, but is it a hobby?
00:23:38Yeah, okay
00:23:42Something you do for I don't I guess I mean I think the the making of the child is something you do for fun
00:23:47Yeah, no it would be it would be a significant other have counted as well like that's a that's
00:23:53That's I think that's a different category being like a wife guy. Yeah, but no that's okay. We're white on it. Who's used yeah?
00:23:59It's a hobby
00:24:00Okay, loving your children is a hobby and it's it's so hilarious opt-out
00:24:05It's so funny. How you like your entire life becomes around you know raising your kid
00:24:09But post that's a different thing than like your whole personality online becomes yeah new parent. Yeah, yeah
00:24:16Yeah, are you looking at me right now? No hey take the sunglasses off. I can't tell what you're looking at
00:24:21Are you looking at me?
00:24:22I just haven't have there are a sect of AWS who hate that I give like one anecdote a week about my kids
00:24:28There's also a lot of people who like it because they're no but like you're you're I'm talking more about your like people's social channels
00:24:35Yeah, yeah, it's like that that is not you, but it is a lot of people yeah, no I you get yeah
00:24:42It becomes it's kids become a lot of everything that happens in your life. That's a fact
00:24:48I just didn't know if you were looking at me. I wasn't has it become my whole personality. No, okay?
00:24:54Just leave the sunglasses off Hank. It's disrespectful
00:24:58Habits that but some bad. I've there are some of these that are hurtful to personalities go ahead
00:25:04Sports gambling yep, that was yeah
00:25:07That was that one you could accuse me of yep, but I've been doing that for a very long time
00:25:12But it's it's become more. I actually had it my on my list is not sports gambling. I had parlay guy
00:25:20Yeah, cuz like yeah, it's the you know I have seven more legs in my parlay Jerry
00:25:25Yeah
00:25:25And it's also the thing like if you go if you like don't know about a couple guys
00:25:28Yeah, it's out. It's like you got you got anything today. Yep. Yep
00:25:34That's a good pick I had it and it hurts me because I know
00:25:38That I'm guilty of that for sure yes, also being a Swifty yep next one. I'm gonna go car guys our guys. Yeah
00:25:47Okay, that's a good one. That's a good one 50 wishes I
00:25:52Will never know enough about cars to make it my entire personality. Yeah, it's kind of cool to be like
00:25:56I don't know I respect it. You know what a lot of these is their personality a lot of these
00:26:00It's not necessarily
00:26:02Disrespect to put them on this list because guess what as you get older your hobbies do become a big part of your personality
00:26:07Yeah, you just so this is a list though of people who like it becomes their entire personality all of these things
00:26:13Can be part of your personality and it'd be normal, but if it just is the only thing you talk about you become that person
00:26:19You're a Swiftie. You're a CrossFitter like that's if people think of that as number one
00:26:23That's where you get into you know issues
00:26:26So dealing with a lot of car guys recently
00:26:28I it's made me realize how little I actually know about cars because the first thing that they ask me is like okay
00:26:34So what's your level of automotive experience? I tell them nothing and then they say okay?
00:26:39Well take this part and then do this I'm like I don't know what either of those two parts
00:26:43So I have to make them dumb it down to like three levels of magnitude low
00:26:47I was like are you talking about the black thing that makes noise? Yes, okay that thing okay?
00:26:52There are two of those which one of those is that that you're talking about yes. Yes, okay good picks
00:26:57We got some hot picks
00:27:00Hank I'll take it before someone else does golf. Oh
00:27:06I had it
00:27:10I was debating between car and golf, but yeah, I mean, it's tough. You know usually they're not even that good
00:27:15We're just burying our souls. It's it's all they talk about it. I knew this is gonna happen. Yeah. Yeah, I mean it is I
00:27:21Don't care that it's I don't think it's from my whole personality, but it is oh it has it's become a large 100%
00:27:26It consumes my brain. I enjoy golf. It's a hobby that I like to play
00:27:30I enjoy you know gambling and golfing and having fun with my friends. Yeah
00:27:34But yeah, it's definitely on that category. Yeah, okay, you were wearing a shirt that was made out of golf balls yesterday
00:27:40Mm-hmm. Yeah shot a row back. It's a sick shirt. It is it is a sick shirt
00:27:44Okay, I'll go with another new age one
00:27:47Crypto people yeah crypto people it's when you see NFT Bitcoin
00:27:52That's literally all they want to talk about have fun being poor big cat
00:27:56They just want to tell you about every crypto that's ever been created and you're like do you do you live in the real world?
00:28:02Still or you just crypto are you telling yourself for not being at bank zero?
00:28:06No, I do not have banks. I do have a little Bitcoin. I don't know how to get it
00:28:09I do not have banks. I do have a little Bitcoin. I don't know how to get it
00:28:13But yeah crypto has become a big-time personality trait. Yeah, your eyes are definitely not illuminated right now
00:28:19Yeah, I'm going to go my second pick. I actually had this first-round talent weed. Mm-hmm. Just being a weed guy
00:28:26Just big-time stoner. I think we all know some some real pothead friends that that becomes everything they talk about
00:28:33I admit was it like that more back in the day? Yeah, I don't think that's people it's more casual now
00:28:38yeah, because it's so it's so everywhere and it's legalized that I don't think it it's become as much not as cool to be or
00:28:45It's it's like before when it was illegal
00:28:47It was and like frowned upon. Yeah, then you had to kind of stay in your ground back. I'm a weed guy
00:28:52I don't care what the rules are now. It's like everyone just kind of
00:28:57Accepts that people casually smoke
00:28:59It might also be because we're a little bit older, but I'm sure that once people start getting into we like at a young age
00:29:04There's still that sweet spot of being like 15 to 27
00:29:08Where that is your entire life is just think about weed bring it over different types of we'd be like, hey, man, smell this weed
00:29:14Yep, smells like weed. No, but you don't understand. It's got it's got crystals on it
00:29:20All right for my next one
00:29:23I'm gonna go with
00:29:26Supporting a political party. Mm. Yeah politics across the board
00:29:31that just becomes all that you think about and it consumes every moment of your being and
00:29:36It's all you talk about you don't want to be friends with anybody that has different political opinions from you
00:29:41you kind of put half the United States into a box of people that you either think is a
00:29:46Pedophile or someone that's not to be trusted around actually at both pedophiles no matter what party you're on. You're like they're pedophiles. So
00:29:54Yeah politics number three. Okay
00:29:57Well, I had something similar. I don't know if it could count but I had just Trump good or bad
00:30:03That's kind of that's all right, all right because that is like the people who are obsessed with Trump
00:30:09Good like those are those are yeah. Yeah, but like there's also it goes even further more non-political
00:30:16People join the Trump good, but but it's deeper with the just like they don't even think political parties anymore
00:30:21They literally just think what is Donald Trump doing and then decide their life on that. All right, I'll go with
00:30:27Who
00:30:35Disney adults
00:30:38They're the weirdest people in the world now do they only become like activated when they're in Disney World
00:30:44I don't know. But if you've met a Disney adult, it usually is a sign
00:30:48It's there's a lot of people out there that get married at Disney World. Yeah pose at Disney World. Yeah, they dress up as Disney characters
00:30:57And I actually think in in like all this whole entire list
00:31:02Some of these people their hobbies become their personality traits just because they throw themselves into it
00:31:07I think Disney adults their hobby becomes their personality traits because the rest of the world no longer accepts them
00:31:13So they find each other and that's what they become. Yeah, there is a phenomenon though of people that you think are just normal
00:31:20Everyday dudes and girls that walk around walk amongst us able to blend in but the second day set foot
00:31:27Inside the Disney theme park. They just change. Yeah their entire body their mood changes
00:31:32Yeah, they just want to stay there for the rest of their lives max. You had that you had that on your list
00:31:36I didn't but
00:31:38You're doing a very good. I'm just not confident in my my list right now. Okay. All right get the confidence up
00:31:43You got two picks coming up. You got two big picks coming up
00:31:46There's a lot of pick there's a lot of like I I have I
00:31:50Think great picks that are gonna be left on the on the cutting room floor. Yes, same. I think I'm gonna shift
00:31:56Which I did run one which probably not even smart but just sports fandom. Yeah, that's a good one
00:32:01The people that yeah, and we deal with them all the time
00:32:04Especially me where like there's people who make you know
00:32:06The Patriots or their Celtics their entire personality and then if you don't know
00:32:10Every player on the roster and don't watch every single game
00:32:13You're a casual and it's like that's all they want to talk about and
00:32:16If you talk shit about one of their teams on the show
00:32:19The people that have made that team their personality will come at you and be like how dare you yeah talk shit about this team
00:32:25like
00:32:26You don't know what you're talking about, right?
00:32:29Agreed, okay
00:32:33My next one is runners marathon runners, yeah, I had it I had it good one
00:32:38Great one the guy with the stickers on the back of their car and just also any
00:32:42Screenshots of maps even people like who start training for a marathon. They just tell you that they're training for a marathon non-stop
00:32:48Yeah, they spend all their free time on message boards looking up other marathoners and trying to prove that they cheated. Yeah
00:32:55The last one is I'm
00:32:58Struggling to word it. I like the cars that have the 0.0 sticker on the back. That's that always plays. Yeah get it
00:33:05The last one I will do
00:33:08I
00:33:09Get like fashion like people are super in into fashion. I don't know. I don't feel not selling
00:33:14Yeah, you could have sold me with more just like what an example of this man
00:33:17like I'm talking more of like the fashion influencers on tik-tok that like
00:33:22They do the outfit of the day and they the next new I was going between that or sneaker heads
00:33:27But fashion, I thought it was maybe more of like whatever. Fuck it. I lost this. I lost this Mount Rushmore. It's fine
00:33:32Jesus Christ. Yeah, I think
00:33:35Sometimes
00:33:36Sometimes you just don't feel like you had a good you had a good Rushmore
00:33:40I think you got complacent after your last one. You got a big win
00:33:43No, I just look at that. My mind was my mind was going elsewhere issues. Well, it's horny guys. Yeah, what horny guys?
00:33:50Yeah, look at that chick
00:33:52Fashionista, I guess is the right way. You're making it worse
00:33:56Whatever
00:33:58Fashion guys not guy. It doesn't have to be guys fashion girls. Yeah, just
00:34:04Fashion
00:34:05Yes, that is that is like a hob. I mean, but that's not having a kid
00:34:11You have a person out like having that be a hobby that becomes your personality trait traits
00:34:15So your personality trees you just dress really well
00:34:17No, but it's like going to like spending your Saturday waiting in line for like the new
00:34:23Like a separate drop to happen that okay having a kids not a hobby. What is it?
00:34:28It's how is that I think it's pretty much the building blocks of life on earth
00:34:36But like what what would it qualify under just living just life
00:34:41Yeah, it's just it's literally if you don't have kids there is no more life
00:34:45It's literally life a hobby is considered to be a regular activity is done for enjoyment typically during one's leisure time. I
00:34:52Think Philip Rivers qualifies as a hobby at this point
00:34:56You know, I'm bored you won't have another one but the having the kid is the it's an activity
00:35:03Yeah, okay. I'm gonna go with this one this I mean this is similar to my
00:35:09Third pick basically all my friends have split in between golf and fishing Oh
00:35:15People that are super into fishing. That's you know, all they talk about all they do they wake up 4 a.m.
00:35:20I had that on my list
00:35:26Okay, and then you take your picture for all social media profile literally my friend group is split between it's like we'd like joke about
00:35:33It cuz it's like half my friends are obsessed with fishing and they don't give a fuck about golf and the other half
00:35:38Love to play golf don't care about fishing. I think it's yeah, because you don't have time to do the other right? Yeah
00:35:44Okay, my last pick I'm actually surprised in it left. I thought it I thought it would go before fashion, but it didn't
00:35:52I
00:35:54PA guy slash brewing his own beer
00:35:57Yeah beer guy beer guy who's just snobby about all his beer and he's gonna brew his own beer
00:36:02And he's you haven't tried this and come on man. Don't try to hit that guy a Coors Light. It's okay
00:36:08It's okay. You can just drink the beer. We're not to talk about the beer strength of beer
00:36:14The cans and everything. I mean there are some cool cans out there. I'll give them that yeah waiting in line for breweries
00:36:20Yeah, I'm like when breweries do drops and camping out. Yeah
00:36:22Yeah, you go to a big festival and you don't you're not even allowed to spend money on them
00:36:26So you got to go to a table and buy like raffle tickets, right?
00:36:29And then you give the people with the beers the raffle tickets
00:36:31And then if you go over to their house or like you got to try my beer
00:36:34Yeah, I mean Brooklyn Brooklyn was was right time was big time. Yes. That was everywhere
00:36:40Yeah, you go to a bar and you're just like can I get a Coors Light and they're like, no, we don't have that
00:36:44We have every other type of beer micro brew. It used to be a big attraction to when you're moving to a new town
00:36:49It's like yeah, there's a lot of micro breweries. Yeah. Now that's every city now every city has them facts and I like beer
00:36:54I do too and I like all kinds of beer
00:36:57Yeah, but I would never I've never like gone and gone to breweries and remembered know the beer that you liked
00:37:03Anyway, it's like even if I found a beer I liked I'm like, all right
00:37:06Moving on. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Okay last pick. Okay, my last pick hobby that turns into a personality
00:37:14Mm-hmm
00:37:19Vegan
00:37:20Mm-hmm being a vegan
00:37:21Yeah, because it doesn't just become your per it it has to rub off at Aaron and it becomes other people's personalities, too
00:37:27Yes, they have to adopt it around you
00:37:29Yes, or else you're not there and they got to tell you about it because every time you go out or anything
00:37:33Yeah, well, I'm a vegan. Oh, yeah, Aaron was that Aaron was rare vegan slash atheist combo. Yeah never been done before. Yeah
00:37:41Great party guy. No, he's no longer a vegan. He saw the light and if you are a vegan by choice, that's fine
00:37:47But just know probably live longer than us. Yeah, definitely. I won't eat the lettuce one day
00:37:51You'll try to eat the try to get a seat the bugs. I won't eat the bow. Those aren't vegans though
00:37:55The bug true bugs aren't vegan true true vegan adjacent. All right, what do we miss? I
00:38:01Did have dog dad or mom on yep, cuz that's a big one when it's like
00:38:06I got a dog and like do you want me to switch mine with that? No
00:38:13Dog dad or mom especially I I gotta say listen, I have a dog. I love dogs
00:38:20When the when when a person wishes themselves happy Mother's or Father's Day on
00:38:25When you have just a dog, that's that's the craziest thing. I've ever fucking seen in my life. What about it?
00:38:30What do that's a fucking actually? No, I know I take that back. It kept fur babies
00:38:34The yeah fur babies. The craziest thing was actually our guy Tony P and DC. He had a post saying
00:38:42What Father's Day means to me as a
00:38:45person who would
00:38:46aspiring
00:38:47Firing father. I like that claiming it beforehand. I
00:38:50Was a little too much. I do love when dog people say like raising a dog
00:38:55I know what it's like to be a father. I know what it's like to be a mother
00:38:57Yes, you know raising a dog is its own challenge. I just love how much that irritates real parents
00:39:02So that's oh, that's that's a funny thing. That's a funny. That's Pete. Yeah, I did that to you with for a while, too
00:39:08Well, but you actually don't I still don't think you understand what kids are because you put it under hobby
00:39:13No
00:39:15Does it's a joke you're doing it and you don't actually know I used to do it to you as a joke
00:39:19I didn't get you very mad
00:39:20But uh, but no, but again, I don't think you're joking because you put down. Well, no Aaron is a hobby
00:39:24I I so I said it I said it right before I switched I switched at the last second
00:39:28I was gonna just do like significant other like when a guy gets a new girlfriend or a girl gets a new boyfriend
00:39:33They just start posting about them
00:39:35Not a hobby. Yeah
00:39:37Thinking about things. Yeah take over people's lives. Yeah, not always. How is that a hot that's like it is funny though
00:39:44Is it a small glimpse into the mind of Hank who has like no worries or cares?
00:39:48To think like the most important thing that you'll ever do on this planet has totally become your entire personality. Isn't that weird?
00:39:56No, all right, so yeah, that was a bad pick whatever no, I think it's significant it plays others more that's that's more hobby ish
00:40:04Meme said just rattled off a bunch of good ones right after my last pick back here. Oh, no
00:40:09Hey now what I think would play is people that have kids that think that they're the first people to ever have kids, correct
00:40:15And so I was actually a fancy football league like ten years ago with multiple people who independently changed their fancy team name
00:40:23to
00:40:24So-and-so's dad. Yeah, and that's that's kind of weird. Yeah. No, there's definitely I know what you're saying
00:40:29They just become like everything is just the kids and they don't have a life outside of the kids
00:40:34And same with significant other. Yeah
00:40:38But yeah, I guess I don't I probably lost with that I had conspiracy theories
00:40:43Yeah, that's actually really cuz then once you go over the deep end, you can't come back the iceberg, baby. Ah see down
00:40:49About your job your job. Yep. Is that a hobby? That's a I guess. Yeah. Yeah, it's a hobby
00:40:55Yeah, I get it now. Everything's making sense. I had a swinger on there. Yeah, that's a guy sex guy becomes your whole life
00:41:03what about a
00:41:05Grilling meats guy. Yeah guy if you have like if you get that if you get the big green egg
00:41:10But you also have a flat top and you also have charcoal and you also have the wood chip and you're like, mm-hmm
00:41:15Hey, what are you doing this weekend? Well, I'm
00:41:18Slow-cooking a brisket for 48 hours. I'm gonna spend 16 hours sitting in the room right next to my patio. Yeah. Yeah, okay
00:41:26Yeah, no, I had I had I the hobbies kind of passed me
00:41:30But we never know how it's gonna look on the on the grass. I had guy like like sobriety
00:41:35It's a hobby. Yeah, but like that becomes people see it. No, that was I I might have
00:41:42You spend all your time going to meeting you're still gonna be mean this like like but like self-help or like meditation like ah
00:41:48I would say yoga
00:41:51Like some some minor mental illness
00:41:55Becomes someone's hobby like minor. I'm not saying like actual like someone who has to tell you like well
00:42:01I have OCD, but they don't actually have OC being an empath. Yeah, and they're like, oh I have OCD
00:42:06It's like no you actually don't because it's not
00:42:08You you can fuck like, you know, they'll just self-diagnosed
00:42:13Mental illness becomes someone's hobby. We missed allergies. We missed a big one. Yeah allergies is good one
00:42:19one
00:42:20Missed a big one
00:42:22Collecting trading cards. Yeah being a card slash collectible guy
00:42:26Autograph guy. Yeah, that's yeah, it falls into the same like yeah. Mm-hmm
00:42:31Yeah, that's like if you quit your job and start a brand new company better all around
00:42:35Yeah collectibles and loving collectibles call it clit. Yeah, call it clit. That's that's a major red flag
00:42:40Yeah, what were memes ones that he rattled off memes get on the mic. Yeah, I
00:42:45Said video games. Yes, good one
00:42:49Um, what else I say? What about just memes?
00:42:52Memes is a good one. Oh, I think actually there is
00:42:56The and this is all of us in a little bit, but it is also our job
00:43:00but the two online guy where it's like they're
00:43:03The way they speak and the way they converse is just really deep online things that people wouldn't know
00:43:10You can tell that they're in some weird message boards, right Trevor Bauer kind of like that. Yeah
00:43:15He is the internet can't speak to us like a regular human being yeah like memes memes also said Barstow listeners
00:43:21No, that's what meme says. I mean, I got a job doing it. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, you are that you are that?
00:43:26Okay, what else means?
00:43:28You had another one you just that was to
00:43:30Max that he rattled off a bunch of really good. I've said Jim like going to the gym after CrossFit or no
00:43:35Yeah, I think that also plays. Yeah, there's different. There's different. There's a different gym person than the CrossFit person
00:43:43Yeah, like yeah yoga definitely qualifies in that. Yeah
00:43:47Doing like we're so is not a CrossFit guy, but he's definitely a gym guy. Yeah
00:43:52Like what are the other new ones Pilates? That's not really that new but Pilates can become your life aloe
00:43:59Yeah, aloe. Yeah, that's they don't they would never let us in there
00:44:03I think we could go for like a day, but they would be like they would sound alarm being like a go day
00:44:09Is it a planet fitness, yeah, they'd be like we're doing a make-a-wish we're gonna let a few uggo podcasters in
00:44:17Everyone, please if you do if you feel uncomfortable in the workplace today, you can work from home. I'm gonna have the uggos stop by
00:44:23Hobbies that become your entire personality losing championships in sports
00:44:28Could be one. What about just also winning championships in sports could be another one up becoming a fan of a band
00:44:34Yeah bands, yeah, yeah that will happen Swifties. Yeah
00:44:38Yes, right. There's other like Zach Bryan Grateful Day. Yeah
00:44:43If it becomes your whole existence, yeah, absolutely
00:44:47skateboarding
00:44:48Skateboard. Yeah, that's true. I should have said that over fashion that that was the one the two I was going between
00:44:52Um, I should have said that cooking different than grilling but cooking is definitely on there cooking in and also
00:45:00Becoming a foodie. Yeah foodie. It's like I'm
00:45:03Different from a lot of people. I enjoy food. Yeah foodie. Oh, you haven't tried that restaurant foodies. I really I really like food
00:45:12Piss about this. Yeah, that's a big mess. You had fashionista though. That was good fucked up
00:45:18What about just like dancing?
00:45:21Okay. No go on
00:45:24No, like tick-tock like with the tick-tock nowadays like people
00:45:28Dance and that becomes their entire personality. I feel like tick-tock could be an answer to
00:45:33Yeah
00:45:34Yeah, Star Wars Star Wars is good Harry Potter Wars after you said Disney, but I thought it was too close
00:45:40So yeah, it is a little Jason. Yeah, what about also said podcasting but he doesn't want to he's too scared to say
00:45:44Oh, yeah, that could be ain't no hobby. Yeah, it's not a hobby for us for us. What about knowing quotes from the office?
00:45:51Yeah
00:45:52Brandon Walker does that quoting the office and act well that could go across the board for just comedy movies
00:45:59Yeah, if you're really into saying quotes from them a lot of times people will think oh, you're funny
00:46:04Yeah, no, no, it's just you know when to put those quotes in. Yep. That's a really good one
00:46:09What else anything else? I mean that is a good topic. Mm-hmm
00:46:13And again, we probably there's a bunch on there that like up hand up
00:46:18Would you say that the gym so Taylor Swift? I do that too much liking Taylor Swift is a good pick
00:46:23Would you also consider not liking Taylor Swift to be a hobby that turns into your personality? I
00:46:30Think that's a little more rare. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know many
00:46:34I think there's people who don't like Taylor Swift, but I don't think they make it their entire personality. Yeah
00:46:39Don't you think like that's a little harder to do because then you just don't like anything
00:46:45Making a hobby your personality is has to be liking more than not liking or just being a hater in general
00:46:51Could be your whole purse. That's true. Yeah a negative person hating things. Yeah. Yeah being the negative guy
00:46:59Okay, we good there's a good good Mount Rushmore my voice a reason what
00:47:05What could say voice a reason for about you?
00:47:08About the negative guy the hypothetical negative guy. Oh, yeah, we weren't talking about you there. We're talking about you was I yeah, I'm just
00:47:17A devil's advocate for that hypothetical person, right? Mm-hmm. It's being negative on every turn
00:47:23I'm not it's being a realist see right now. You're being negative. You're disagreeing with me
00:47:28Agreed I said that you're the most negative guy. We've got and you just said I'm not you didn't say that
00:47:33Okay. Well, you're the most negative guy we've got
00:47:38Agree to disagree see he's being negative right now everyone's entitled to their
00:47:43Yeah, I hate these cliches, yeah, I'm trying not to be negative edition genuine I disagree to agree

00:49:57We now welcome on two very special guests it is our good friend Jimmy Tatro and now our good friend Christian Pierce
00:50:05The guys who created the very funny real bros of Simi Valley, which now is a movie. Yes, sir
00:50:11It is a movie July 4th. So I feel like this July 5th close on Roku
00:50:16But it might you might be able to watch it July if you happen to log on early on the 4th
00:50:21Oppenheimer yeah, that's what they're saying, right?
00:50:24Yeah, I'm so excited for this movie real bros
00:50:26If you haven't watched it, it is can we watch all of it in one place actually was my first question
00:50:31But we actually meant to show you the trailer when we came in. Okay, I don't know should we still show him?
00:50:36Oh, we could write you'd have too much time. It's like are we in it?
00:50:40Because you said we were you get a cameo and I can't remember if we filmed it
00:50:44Oh, that was the day the Wi-Fi was down. We meant to add you it would be great
00:50:48I sent you that fax. Yeah
00:50:52Yeah, I did on that fax
00:50:55I think you said like we can just use a clip from this interview at the very end of the movie, right?
00:50:59It did say that and it so congratulations on making a movie and having us in your movie. Yeah. Yeah
00:51:08Yeah
00:51:10I don't know what it was. I don't know what we would have done without you guys
00:51:13Yeah, we should do at the end of this interview
00:51:16Yeah, and that's our idea for a movie and then we put it at the end of the movie Wow
00:51:34Absolutely not and then that's the end so I'm pumped for this is gonna be awesome because it's so funny
00:51:39So first of all, can we watch real bros in one place?
00:51:43Because you guys have hit the bit we know this last time
00:51:46Yes, we were trying to go to every single platform was wrote. Is this the first time on Roku? Yes the first time on
00:51:51Yes, so we're hitting the bingo card. Yeah, so we're we're checking as many platforms as possible
00:51:57But right now the whole show is on YouTube. Fuck. Yes. Okay, so that's something I was pretty pumped about
00:52:03Yeah, we we got negotiated with the movies. We got all the episodes back. So they're now all on YouTube perfect
00:52:10So everyone catch up before you watch the movie
00:52:12I guess the the other thing that that's so great about this show and now a movie and I'm wondering what you guys Christian
00:52:19I'll ask you this. Yeah, is it weird having a show that?
00:52:23It's been difficult at times to watch because it's been on different platforms
00:52:27We'll just say that but I would say it's one of the most viral gift shows
00:52:33Out there that I think there's a whole group of people that don't even maybe know
00:52:39What show they're gifing but the gifts are so fucking funny
00:52:42Yeah
00:52:42that like you there's there's an untapped audience that if they if we can connect their brains and be like no that's actually real bros
00:52:48And they have a movie out. It's like you you have to watch it because they're using the gifts constantly
00:52:53Yeah, it's especially with like tik-tok coming up like 2020 to like now
00:52:58There was a moment where we weren't really using tik-tok that much but we saw the real bros
00:53:03Meme
00:53:04ification right really going wild on there and it surpassed like
00:53:09Talk had surpassed the views anywhere else. We're like, what the fuck we're not even on here
00:53:12Do you believe it was account with a hundred and forty thousand subscribe followers? Yeah. Yeah pumping out real bro
00:53:21There's like a whole underground scene of tik-tok accounts that they do with podcasts, too
00:53:26Well, they'll just take clips from podcasts and be like a check out this clip
00:53:30And then they're getting all the money for right
00:53:31I always look at as being a good thing overall because they're promoting like when I see an old part of my take clip
00:53:37Surface on there. I'm like, well, they're just doing like a free advertisement for part of my take
00:53:40so yeah, but at the same time it can I can see why people that like put time and creative energy into like
00:53:46Writing a show might be like hey kind of fucked up that you're just putting my shit out there
00:53:49I think if it's if it's not taking up space that you're already trying to fill like we didn't have a presence on tik-tok at
00:53:54The time that it took off on tik-tok if we had
00:53:57Accounts that we were putting time and money into and they those accounts still exist. I'll be fucking pissed
00:54:01Yeah, fuck you're taking it away from us because we didn't know it's like I think ultimately it's going to come back to us
00:54:06Full circle once we find a way to reclaim. Yeah audience
00:54:09It was like someone was just doing it for us kind of because we didn't have the tik-tok
00:54:11But I used to get really upset about that. Like yeah, it's like steel clips
00:54:17Piracy we need laws out here in the Wild West of digital media. Yeah, this is bullshit because there was this video that we posted
00:54:24That was supposed to air on like a show for the first time and someone recorded it on the show before I could even upload
00:54:31it to YouTube and
00:54:33posted it on YouTube
00:54:35Like a recording of a screen on TV old-school. I got like 15 million views
00:54:42Even posted it. Yeah, I was like this this is fucked. It was that video of the little kid running for a touchdown
00:54:47Oh, yeah, you know grant-to-wish kids touchdown
00:54:50He's running and then a guy comes out of nowhere and smacks smashes. Yeah, and they probably acted like it was a real clip
00:54:56Yeah, well everyone thought that was what was funny about that one. Everyone thought that one was real. Yeah, what's his name?
00:55:03Man, Michael Michael Irving, I think he he tweeted one time like this is so fucked up
00:55:09I
00:55:15Would imagine Xander Shoffley winning the PGA Championship was huge for you guys big. It's big for Xander's
00:55:24I saw on
00:55:26The clip of you asking him if he had seen real brothers TV Valley. He was like no, but sometimes people yells on it
00:55:34I
00:55:36Mean that's pretty good. Yeah is on the show is Xander's name Xander or is it Alexander Xander? Yeah
00:55:43Yeah, he's just I think Xander on the birth certificate. Okay. Yeah, but we have decided that
00:55:49Hawks middle name is Tua. Oh, I like that. Yeah
00:55:54It's been to of this whole time. Yeah to a standard squeeze you guys were in front of that. How old is Hawk?
00:56:00So
00:56:02Well, I think this is this what day is this coming out this is coming out on Friday this Friday is Friday
00:56:08I feel like we can say we can say like he's older. He's older. He's older than me
00:56:19Yeah, Jimmy's character has a son yeah, and they've aged him so rapidly
00:56:24He was a baby and then all of a sudden he was like nine and now he's older than you
00:56:29twice the age of his parents
00:56:31Yeah, he's he's in his 50s
00:56:37Yeah, because I remember I think I told you last time I was on here you're like how old talking to be I'm like he
00:56:42Definitely needs to be older
00:56:43Xander, right. So yeah to be in the middle of the movie. He's he's a
00:56:49definitely like in his 50s 60s and then
00:56:53And then just keep watching just keep watching. What was that like for the old guy that's playing your son like oh, man
00:56:59well
00:57:00The guy was playing his son and this one is actually a legend. Oh, it was pretty nice Wow
00:57:05Yeah, we can't say too much. But the name Hawk is a pretty big giveaway. So you guys got Kevin Spacey?
00:57:12Yeah, right, dude. Holy shit. I just think he needs a chance
00:57:17Well about redemption, you know
00:57:19What do you really do
00:57:25He called me actually it was like Jim it was like one of those weird creepy videos
00:57:30Yeah, he was in front of his fireplace and he's like, let me play. Oh
00:57:35Yeah, I do this yeah
00:57:37Christmas video where oh, yeah, that was Frank Underwood. We're like, why is Frank Underwood like lecturing us on Christmas?
00:57:44Yeah, you need people like me. Yeah, that didn't get enough
00:57:48Attention for how weird it was. I think we all tried to look away
00:57:52And they did one in Italy one year where he's like on a bench or something
00:57:57Spacey checking in. Yeah, I'm still like on the run. I'm still fucking weird
00:58:05Y'all need people like me so it's funny because you've actually worked with Kevin Spacey since you were like 12 13 years old and you
00:58:11Were like his protege, right? Yeah
00:58:14Full circle I pretty much created I credit him with a lot. Yeah
00:58:20Not career-wise just like how I am
00:58:28So it is Tony Hawk playing playing your son that's cool. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not gonna say any names but the name Hawk is you know
00:58:34It's definitely
00:58:35It's involved in the name of the man. Yeah, I forget where I read this
00:58:38It was a maybe six eight months ago
00:58:40But I read that you used to make skateboarding videos when you were a kid. Yeah, like a real young kid, right?
00:58:46Yeah, that was at your first like foray into online videos. Absolutely
00:58:50Yeah, not online because it wasn't online yet
00:58:53But it was a like little I was like the videographer of my little skate group in Venice
00:58:59And I was the guy with the video camera, but you know, there was no editing
00:59:02So it's just like I'd have a boombox start stop and I would go
00:59:06You know hit play and then hit stop and just try to keep it
00:59:10so there would be a soundtrack that kind of went through it was like, you know, Linkin Park like
00:59:16And sometimes like if someone missed I'd rewind both
00:59:20Try to so it was like this soundtrack was just like, you know
00:59:25That's all wait. So so you guys were in a frat together, Arizona. That's how you first met
00:59:30Yeah, and and Christian, are you a diehard Clippers fan too? No. Oh, no. No
00:59:36Jim Jim Jim
00:59:38Oh, yeah, but I also hate the Lakers
00:59:40Yeah, I'm a Bulls fan. We think that JJ
00:59:43Honestly, I think it's probably a good move for him for the organization. Yeah. Yeah, he seems
00:59:50It's kind of a shitty move he said he's never he's gonna stop doing podcasts on his coach like
00:59:54Podcasting is not a stepping stone job. No, no like he used us
00:59:58I feel like and we had a moment where like he's that type dude said representation matters
01:00:02We're like JJ Redick went from podcasting to NBA coach. So could we but then he just turns his back on the family
01:00:08I don't know. Yeah, what are you guys gonna do about that? I don't know
01:00:11We we always say we always say like podcasting. It's the brotherhood
01:00:14Yeah, and for a guy like that to turn his back on the brotherhood. It just hurts a lot more than anything
01:00:19I guess next time I won't be so nice to former players that then become podcasters. I think yeah
01:00:24NBA coaching is like gladiator rules
01:00:26So if you do fight him and you do beat him, you're the new Lakers head coach. Yeah. Yeah
01:00:29That's a good point if you want that life. I never thought about how this was affecting the podcasting
01:00:35We're not narcissists, but that's exactly what it is. It's a story about podcast. You'll actually love this
01:00:40We did we did a to promote season 3
01:00:43We like went on the news the daily news and this guy showed up in a Clippers uniform. No, I texted that before
01:00:50Before I'm like, what are you wearing tomorrow? And he's like anymore my Lakers jersey. I'm like, alright cool
01:00:54Pull up in a Clippers jersey went out got a Clippers jersey. Well, I'm gonna Clippers
01:00:59Although this is some serious hater stuff right now. I love that. Yeah, it's not an LA news. You got a show
01:01:03Oh, yeah, I like I like that. It's a Clippers town. Exactly, right, right? Yes. Everyone knows that
01:01:09You're always saying that yes
01:01:12They got the new stadium Balmer. It's a Clippers Paul George basically there for life. Yeah
01:01:18Why you're set up you see the name of the Clippers show the billboards they say the other LA team
01:01:24I'm like you guys have a show and it says the other
01:01:29So you guys met in your fraternity at Arizona, when did you start doing like creative things together?
01:01:35Was it I would imagine there was just some just hanging out and being frat bro
01:01:40We started second half of freshman year, but we took it seriously
01:01:43Sophomore year when we started black. Oh blackmailing. Yes. Yeah
01:01:48Yeah, I was like either you're involved I'm fucking telling them
01:01:59That's actually a part of my take started big cat made me do cocaine that actually is true guys are joking
01:02:04This is true. I also came up as no
01:02:06It was also the worst blackmail ever because I really wanted to do the cocaine
01:02:10I was psyched that my new friend was offering me and it was like if you don't do this podcast
01:02:14I'm telling you I was like, I don't get it. Yeah, I turn to the podcast idea
01:02:17Shoved it up his nose and I turned to Hank and I was like we got him
01:02:23Wait, so that's awesome because what year was this what?
01:02:282010 so this is early like internet too. Yeah
01:02:34Early internet like YouTube
01:02:36The hate of funny or die. Yeah
01:02:40And the fact that like today everyone in college right tick-tock. I was trying to be a content creator
01:02:46You guys were doing it before it became something that like everyone is doing. Yeah
01:02:52Say what do you mean? You're dropping out of school to be a youtuber? Yeah, that doesn't mean wait
01:02:57Did you drop out of school too? I did not finish. Okay
01:03:01Right, I bring it up all the time. Yeah
01:03:05You should get paid more
01:03:07I
01:03:09Do yeah, it carries his diploma. I just roll it out. So when you guys started when you guys so annoying communications from Arizona
01:03:17Yeah
01:03:18No different than Harvard
01:03:20When you're doing shit for YouTube at that time, are you using phones to record things or using a camera started on a flip cam?
01:03:26Yeah, I had a little flip cam. That was like at the time. It was like for how small this is
01:03:32This is great quality. Yeah
01:03:34And that was what we said I was the first few videos were on that
01:03:38Then we got a camera
01:03:40But you know, it's funny about the flip cam. I always think about this, you know, Apple bought flip cam
01:03:44Do that I didn't know I flip cam did nothing and just ended it. That's great
01:03:48They're like we don't want any competition. So they bought the company and then just ended the company
01:03:55Crazy baller move. Yeah, just buy your competition. Yeah, and some guy spends his entire life
01:04:00Perfecting this design for a great product and he's so proud of it. And then finally like a big payday comes along
01:04:05He sells it. He's like, okay your products dead now. Yeah, that's business, but I mean
01:04:10What could they have done to Apple?
01:04:12Nothing
01:04:15Yeah, so all right, so you guys have been writing together then for almost 15 years
01:04:21That's pretty cool. Yeah, so how is it like evolved?
01:04:26Your writing styles and just working together because it's it's like working together for 15 years
01:04:32That's that's kind of rare
01:04:34Like that's not there's not a lot of
01:04:36Writing partners that can do something like that for that long and kind of stay on the weight the same wavelength
01:04:41You've seen it a million times where guys will do something. That's a hit and then kind of splinter off and do their own thing
01:04:47Yeah, but you guys are still doing it. That's awesome. Yeah, it's pretty cool
01:04:51Like has it evolved you guys feel like you've ever had a moment where you're like, oh, we're
01:04:56We're maybe not on the same wavelength or has it been kind of seamless that you've always been a perfect writing partners
01:05:01No, we've definitely had our ups and downs. Yeah, but I think like
01:05:05working through the you know
01:05:08The ups and downs that would eventually like makes it like a I don't know more secure stable situation, right?
01:05:15so like, you know, we've had our moments where we were not on the same page about things and took some
01:05:21some talking out
01:05:23But I feel like that's just naturally gonna happen with any long-term
01:05:27Partnership right and either like you'd kind of split and and go your separate ways or you just kind of keep working through it constantly
01:05:34Well, I imagine like being writing partners is that's a very vulnerable thing to do because you're you're basically saying like my ideas
01:05:42I hope this person thinks it's funny and like back and forth and you have to throw out ideas and they're not all gonna work
01:05:48Yeah, I don't think we've ever really gotten to
01:05:52Like
01:05:53Hurt about shooting each other's ideas down. We don't like that, which is kind of cool
01:05:57Yeah, people get like super personally like affected. We're like, I think there's something better. That might be it. They might fuck up their day
01:06:02We're just like, okay next idea. Yeah
01:06:04Are there moments where like?
01:06:06One of the two of you is way more
01:06:08Passionate about a certain project or a certain element that you're working on than the other and then like how does that work out?
01:06:13Do you just have to say? Well, I'm gonna trust them if they're more passionate. Let's go along or is it like, okay?
01:06:18You take the lead do whatever you want to do on this since you care about it more
01:06:21Yeah, I mean I try to if if he's fired up about an idea and I just like don't see it
01:06:27I just trust that I'm just like not seeing it right now
01:06:30I'm like he is so fired up about this like I'm gonna just trust him and look go along with this
01:06:34It was not a good idea. We will realize it along the way
01:06:36There's no point in me like really hitting the brakes on this, right?
01:06:39You know, I mean, how was writing the movie how was was there?
01:06:43You guys it's obviously been something that you guys been working on for a very long time
01:06:47And it's again so so funny, but like actually having to put it together a story that might might be the finale
01:06:54I don't know if you guys have another whatever it's a little bit different
01:06:57I would assume writing a movie than a TV show because you have to kind of tie it all together, right?
01:07:02Yeah, it's a lot less time too. I think it's like with the season three. We like 220 minutes total some of that
01:07:08Yeah, like 250 or yeah
01:07:09He might be like two minutes total in the season with the movie you have half of night less than half, right?
01:07:15Yeah, so it's you have to condense a lot of storylines. You got to kill a lot of your babies
01:07:19You got to just really
01:07:26Like like a lot of a you know, the little random moments in the show, you know where you just like
01:07:33Spend a minute and a half on something that's like completely pointless to the the final story
01:07:38You don't can't really do that with a movie. Yeah, but because that is a lot of the show
01:07:44It's like you want to preserve some of those moments. So there's a lot more editing in the writing process and like
01:07:50Condensing. I
01:07:52Feel like that would be the worst part for me
01:07:54Yeah
01:07:55stuff that you've worked so hard on that you you thought was so funny and a lot of times it probably is very funny material
01:08:00And then having to just cut it for the sake of brevity and yeah
01:08:04Like losing out on all that effort that you put into it. Yeah, that must be tough
01:08:08That was definitely the hardest thing about them about the movie just because it was less time and it did start as a show
01:08:14So it was a lot of like, how do we make this a movie?
01:08:17That was like that was probably that was definitely the hardest thing about making the movie. Yeah, because we shot it in 10 days
01:08:28Like on day one were you organized ready to go or
01:08:32Feel like most times when you plan out all this stuff perfectly you sit down you spend the first like four hours
01:08:37Bullshitting anyways, you know like oh shit. That's four hours out of our ten days that we have budget gone
01:08:41No, there was no bullshitting. No, there's no time for bullshit. Like you show up you have a schedule, you know
01:08:46We need to shoot we need to shoot this this this this and this today we have this we have to be done by
01:08:52There's all regiment scheduled but then you show up and they're like, oh it's raining on Thursday
01:08:56So that got fucked. Yeah, and that actor's schedule was only lined up for Thursday
01:09:00so now we need to figure out when they're available and
01:09:03Then it ended up like the schedule we ended up shooting like four days one week one day another week and in like
01:09:10Three twos
01:09:11It was like the map everything around the budget and like how much time you have how much money you have and then also like
01:09:16Even though we were dialed the fuck in on day one. We still had like actors. We needed to cast we had roles
01:09:21We had to keep moving. We couldn't stop
01:09:24So what?
01:09:26But we said you got the facts. Yeah, you didn't have any could have been there. Yeah desperate for two actors
01:09:31Yeah, a short guy and a big guy, yeah, we need to find anyone casting is the future so we gotta figure out two pod
01:09:39the problem was look
01:09:41I wasn't gonna ask you guys to fly across the country to say what would have been it literally a
01:09:49line
01:09:52You know, yeah guys are busy guys
01:09:54I mean we would never travel anywhere to burn a day just like hanging out and drinking beer with a fellow guys have any
01:09:59Enemies because we tried but the up top they were like now we can't we can't yeah
01:10:04Okay, big Hollywood. Maybe yes. Yeah, Hollywood is not
01:10:08They don't really understand us or like us we went
01:10:12Dave and I went and pitched Hollywood the Barstool rundown in 2014 and we went into like
01:10:17Probably about ten different rooms like Comedy Central HBO Showtime walked out of every single meeting like we fucking crushed that
01:10:25Not even a single call back damn. Yeah, so then we realized that's probably not our cup of tea
01:10:30Yeah, we tried but the studio was like not those two. Yeah
01:10:35I'm not hot enough to sexually harass. So they see me and they're like I have no use for this guy
01:10:42I mean, I'm I'm so pumped for this movie though. How long did it take you guys to write it?
01:10:47That's longer to write it than it did
01:10:54A day and a half. Yeah
01:10:58We did the the Tyler Perry business model
01:11:02No, we we wrote it over the course of like five months
01:11:07But it was like on and off like halfway through and I like went to Atlanta. We were doing it over zoom
01:11:12I think if we were sitting down every single day together for like eight hours
01:11:17I think we could have done it Oh in under half that time for sure two months for sure
01:11:22But also if you didn't move out, right? Yeah, he moved out right you moved out. Didn't you guys live together for a long time?
01:11:29Oh, that was a while ago. Yeah, but then he moved out right? Right, right. Yeah, right
01:11:33So he should have done that you're bringing up old wounds for me. I wasn't ready for this
01:11:37Yeah, wait, did you live together when the bees attacked you? No, that was a to those two houses later. Okay
01:11:43Yeah, yeah, those bees were gnarly
01:11:44I think we've asked you about the bees every episode that you've been on like how the bees doing you're like I haven't seen
01:11:49this
01:11:53You're a huge B guy, it's I'm a big B guy
01:11:56I was actually I saw you know that movie The Beekeeper with Jason Statham. Yeah, I haven't seen it yet
01:12:01But I saw the billboard and I was like, that's me call my agent. I was like, what the fuck?
01:12:06I don't ask for a lot. Yeah, but you're telling me they did The Beekeeper and I didn't even audition
01:12:11Yeah, I mean, would you are you interested in doing like action roles where you just kick everyone's ass?
01:12:15I would love to do that. Yeah, that seems like it'd be a very very fun genre movie to film
01:12:19So Marvel drops the B-man. Oh
01:12:22You want it to be you the Beeman if it wouldn't if it wasn't I'd be hurt. Yeah. Yeah Christian
01:12:29You're getting an insight into our interview style. Yeah, how stupid we are that we're like, hey Jimmy, how about those bees?
01:12:34This is a serious question
01:12:37That reminds me speaking of big Hollywood business meetings, right? Um, what's going on with boner dogs? I mean, yeah
01:12:44So we're working on it. Yeah in pre-production dogs. Yeah, we have a movie you you actually
01:12:49We'd love to have you as a writer. Okay. Yeah, it's a
01:12:52Loosely attached loosely attached you wanna hear the pitch? Yeah. Okay, so it's like Hansel and Gretel
01:12:57Combined with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It's a cartoon and one of the dogs has a boner the whole time. Oh shit
01:13:03That's pretty much
01:13:06In the in like the Arctic and they're like, how are we ever gonna find our way back?
01:13:11It's just in this guy's like dude, my boners been dragging this whole time. So his nose isn't right. It's just a dick
01:13:16Right and then all the other dogs make fun because they don't have boners right and they're like you what's that gross lipstick thing?
01:13:21Right, right, right, and he it's like the insecure about it. Yes
01:13:24He is at first but then it becomes a tool for power at the end Wow
01:13:27He realizes oh, I'm not so weird after all I can use my differences to own your flaws make a difference
01:13:33Yeah, that's the kind of message. I feel like kids today, right? I think it would resonate. Yeah, stay hard kids, right?
01:13:38Yeah, there you go exactly
01:13:46We just bring PFTs laptop you're like see yeah, yeah, I've been attached I think for what six years now
01:13:53Are you playing you're playing the dog? No
01:13:56You guys got attached I think he's a voice of the boner. Oh, yeah. I thought Adam Sandler was the voice of the boner
01:14:01No, I thought will
01:14:07Tell me this pitch, you know 2018 I said this is this is a home run
01:14:11I mean, yeah, I think I started off as loosely attached
01:14:13But then I saw the names that you guys had involved yeah, I was like this is gonna be a huge project
01:14:18Well, so we pitched probably 12 different comedians when they come on the show
01:14:22If it was like David Spade a bunch of people that would sit down with us would be like, okay
01:14:26Here's a pitch for boner dogs. And then finally we interviewed Adam Sandler
01:14:29It was him and Kevin Garnett at the same time
01:14:31And so everyone was expecting us to pitch Adam Sandler because we've been talking about this Adam Sandler movie with boner dogs for years
01:14:39So instead we just pitch KG Garnett, that's fine and then Adam kept trying to jump in and be like not right now
01:14:45And then he's like I'm in Adam Sandler told us he was in a little behind the scenes
01:14:49We apparently had like an actual deal in the works with happy Madison
01:14:53Yeah to make this into a series on Netflix and then all the side just stopped hearing about updates. Well, not all of a sudden
01:15:00We interviewed Rob Schneider. It didn't go well
01:15:02My
01:15:05Well, I thought it went well, I thought it was
01:15:09Part of his recent tear
01:15:15We interviewed him and like he didn't laugh at one part of the interview
01:15:18It wasn't even like a big problem with the interview was just like a minor thing that didn't get that
01:15:23It was a stupid joke
01:15:24One of our guys wrote a blog that is clearly tongue-in-cheek that was like every time Rob Schneider releases a big movie
01:15:32an oil spill happens
01:15:34But if you look at it, like if you actually want to look at it, like there's an oil spill all the time
01:15:38Yeah, you connect the dots. Yeah, right. So that was the joke and yet didn't if you didn't laugh that means he's hiding them
01:15:45He's like how'd they find out they know fuckers. Yeah
01:15:50You're taking flack it means you over the right targets so he he didn't react to it at all and then afterwards
01:15:56It's great. It's a real story like maybe maybe four people online maybe four it could be less than that
01:16:03Responded to the tweet that we put out promoting the episode and they said like Rob Schneider sucks
01:16:08Maybe four people said that
01:16:09Then we heard behind the scenes through our PR people that he wants us to delete the entire interview and take it down and act
01:16:16Like it never happened. Yeah, and then we're like, well, no, we're we're not gonna do that
01:16:19Like some people liked the interview. It wasn't bad. We never we didn't walk away from the interview being like this guy hates us
01:16:24Yeah, we never even thought it was. Yeah, we did we doing it?
01:16:28We didn't think that anything was wrong. And so he like threatened the litigation
01:16:32And eventually we're just like we're not gonna take it down
01:16:34We'll delete that one tweet if there's people responding to it that are making you angry. Yeah, so here's what I'm thinking
01:16:39Then boner dogs died. I know I'm not riding on this film yet
01:16:41But if I was here's my pitch we make the new antagonist the villain a big oil tycoon. Oh
01:16:46Yes, I like that Schneider Robson. Yeah
01:16:50He's a mean guy
01:16:52Let's let's let's defend Rob Schneider for a second. There's a chance he doesn't he like me
01:16:58I don't think he killed the movie but it there's a chance
01:17:00He could have killed the movie because he cares about the environment and he didn't want another oil spill
01:17:04Yeah, that's a fair point. He was like, I can't do keep doing this, right?
01:17:08Especially with this dog being in the Arctic, right? Yeah, right and all that, right?
01:17:12Yeah
01:17:12so one of the ideas that we had was to have it be like an Olympics event where each team is made up of like
01:17:18The Irish Wolfhounds are a bunch of Irish drunks and then then tiny dicks. Yeah a little tiny dicks
01:17:25But then you could have like these you could just do stereotypes of people from those countries as all the competitors
01:17:31Yeah, and then the mutts that's the boner team. That's the team with the boner dog
01:17:35the mutts ends up saving the day even though they're not allowed to compete in this big race, right and they have to call him
01:17:40Out at the last second because they're like we need somebody with a boner to help and none of us have them shit
01:17:45Yeah, yeah people love stereotypes. They do. Yeah, what's your favorite stereotype?
01:17:58Mine's Iowa, maybe a Casio trying to think of other electronics companies that make stereos and this joke isn't going well
01:18:05No, it's going keep going. No, that's it
01:18:07I'm out JBL guy JBL JBS. Oh, I was thinking maybe so nice beats actually Sonos
01:18:13I got a fucking bone to pick with so no. Oh, yeah. Yeah go off
01:18:16I agree with you guys have Sonos speak on oh, but we always do this with our guests
01:18:20You're like, hey, do you want to say anything about?
01:18:25Figure it out guys
01:18:27What's up with this app?
01:18:29Why do I need the app?
01:18:32And if you're gonna require me to have the app to play music at least make the app good yes, you know
01:18:39Yeah, I don't go on my Spotify and just click a speaker
01:18:42Yep, you can do it with everything else go off if you're gonna require me to have an app make the app good
01:18:48Tell us just hire somebody on Fiverr. It's not that hard to fix the app. Yeah
01:18:53Also, the app is the problem is it's open the app. Yeah, and then you have to open your Spotify
01:18:58Yeah, and it makes no sense. The connection is not seamless between those two. Yeah, there's just don't play music in my house
01:19:03It's and then recently the whole spirit. Yeah, it's just killed. It's killed at all
01:19:16There's just too many apps in general and Sonos is a perfect example
01:19:19They had an app that kind of worked and you got used to it
01:19:22You got used to their fucked up app and then they have to update it and change it
01:19:26Yes, they want to make it look like the next generation of apps or whatever now
01:19:29It's fucked up and no one can use it. You think big Sonos is like low-key trying to make people hate music
01:19:33Yeah, I think they're anti podcast
01:19:43Imagine JJ Reddick had something to do with this probably yes
01:19:49We like JJ is actually a friend of ours, I think so we're optimistic I think there's a chance
01:19:56What do you think about LeBron saying that he didn't have anything to do with the process even though he did a four-month interview on
01:20:01A podcast with him funny. Okay
01:20:06Raises some questions for sure
01:20:10Maybe some collusion there, but you're you've always been a LeBron over Kobe guy. Yep. You're big big
01:20:17He'll die on that
01:20:20The slanderous
01:20:22I uh, look I was happy to get him. I
01:20:27Just don't want to be the team that drafts Brawny just for the knowledge
01:20:34It'll be cool for like a game and then it's like well fuck did we just ruin our future just to have Brawny?
01:20:39Yeah, it's gonna be a real life
01:20:40It's gonna be a real life Xander and Hawk where they wait they draft Brawny jr. He gets in and he's way worse than his dad
01:20:45Yeah, he was somehow older
01:20:49His body's breaking down
01:20:52What is Brawny gonna say like on the court, is he gonna be like screen left dad
01:20:58Yeah, like is he gonna say? Yeah dad
01:21:01And how do you talk shit back to people right? It's like, you know says something about him being his son. He's like
01:21:08No, I'm not
01:21:13You have to eat those that's gonna happen a lot. Yeah, but I was just thinking about that
01:21:17Yeah, like in like what does LeBron do like the passive-aggressive, you know
01:21:20How he always whenever a teammate fucks up and he like yells at them. Does he do that to his son?
01:21:25For sure. Yeah, you got to get to everybody. Yeah, does he spank him?
01:21:30Ground him right there. This is a three
01:21:37We see Brawny missed a shot
01:21:40Jimmy real quick. I want to glaze for a second because
01:21:44Like when we first had you on in 2018
01:21:47We've talked about this before but Hank was a big fan we didn't know who you were
01:21:52That's bad job by us, but we're like, yeah, let's do it
01:21:54And then it became a real friendship and you've been on a bunch of times and it's pretty damn awesome to see like your career
01:22:01Take off
01:22:02How much money do you think you owe us? I?
01:22:07Don't even want to get into that because
01:22:10It's it's a lot. Yeah, you know like we have certain guys that we feel like there
01:22:15It's a different connection because it's like we like them before
01:22:18Maybe they're you were already big but like the next that like Josh Allen is up there for us
01:22:23Because we were on Josh Allen before even got drafted. Mm-hmm
01:22:27Who else a Brooks kind of won a bunch? Yeah after yeah, I think he had one major
01:22:31I like this conversation because it's like Jimmy was already massively successful, right?
01:22:36But because we discovered him to ourselves
01:22:39Then we're like now we own you because we just found out about yeah
01:22:43We're kind of the podcast Illuminati not narcissus, come on. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, yeah
01:22:49There's I mean since I've been on it just there's the in the industry plant allegations. Yeah
01:22:56Yeah, just they've just been going around. Yeah industry players and I'm like, I just you know, I just like going on part of my day
01:23:02Yeah
01:23:03Christian you're about to feel this year. You're gonna be the next body where it happens. Yeah
01:23:09On my vision
01:23:12But
01:23:16Yeah, it has been awesome
01:23:17I mean both you guys like watching this become a movie it's it's fucking awesome because we like this is the comedy I
01:23:26Actually, there's a real question. Like do you guys think that?
01:23:29Comedy movies are gonna make a little bit of a comeback because we have had a lull
01:23:33Like it has whether it be with Shane and what he's doing
01:23:37Like it does feel like we're finally getting back to a point where we can start making like truly funny
01:23:43comedy movies because we had that run in the early 2000s, you know wedding crashers and and
01:23:50Anchorman and like all that stuff that was like truly hilarious movies and there's been it's almost been a void of it
01:23:57Yeah, I will say like there's a gazillion things. I love about the movie
01:24:01We just made but like every month that goes by
01:24:04Ever since like, you know
01:24:05We've been deep in the editing process and I see the lack of comedies coming out or I see the movies coming out that are
01:24:10Kind of comedies and I watch them. I feel like they're mid and lacking in comedy
01:24:12I get so fucking excited for ours to come out, right? I'm like fuck. Yeah, the world needs this
01:24:18Yeah, I mean good
01:24:19I was thinking about like how good it is for us just like people I want people to like laugh at some shit
01:24:24Yeah, it's just for laughs and it does feel like the pendulum swinging back to that where it's like hey
01:24:28We can start making you know shows and movies that are just hey, they're funny and they don't have to be
01:24:35Super high stakes dark, right? Yeah, it's like all the comedies for a while have gotten like just so serious, right?
01:24:41Well, you're like is this really a comedy?
01:24:46Yeah, like just because I laughed like doesn't mean it's a comedy like I laughed in Sopranos the whole time
01:24:52Yeah, I think Sopranos might be comedy might be a comedy
01:24:55It's if it had a laugh track on it'd be the funniest show on TV Sopranos is hilarious. Actually. Yeah, but yeah
01:25:00I'm also it's it's it's gonna be nice to just have like a
01:25:05Just for laughs type of movie out there and I do think that the industry is starting to finally go. Oh
01:25:12Yeah, maybe we can we can make some low stakes right just solid straight through comedies that aren't
01:25:20You know trying to unpack serious issues, right? Yeah, that's that's really what it is
01:25:24It's it's like can we just make a comedy that just lives as hey, this was really fun to watch. Yeah, that's okay
01:25:30Yeah
01:25:32Yeah, when you put a comedy on you drop your guard right now when you put on like the hangover or some shit like oh
01:25:38Your guard just goes away, right? I'm ready to just immerse that in this
01:25:41And you feel better after it's over. So, yeah, you just get all the laughs out and it like elevates your mood
01:25:46So yeah, the hangover I think is probably the last
01:25:49Massively successful comedy, right? Yeah
01:25:52Hangover recently I did
01:25:57It's so good
01:25:59It's like a perfect comedy and it also looks incredible. Yeah, it's not Phillips the guy who made Joker
01:26:05You know, it's like the the shots the hangover is beautifully shot. Yeah, and also just
01:26:11We're watching you're like man
01:26:13If if tik-tok was out when this movie came up like came out all of these moments were yes
01:26:19Oh, I knew this whole wolfpack speech. Yeah, the whole song he sings to the tiger. Yeah, there's so many iconic moments
01:26:26I'm that movie. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's true
01:26:28so this is gonna be massive you guys are gonna have a big hit on your hands and then you're gonna be a
01:26:32Lister's and then at that point
01:26:34Are you gonna just because are you gonna do the thing where you become like serious movie stars at that point?
01:26:39Are you gonna turn your backs on comedy? Are you always in comedy? I'm not gonna drop out of the boner dog project
01:26:44Well, here's here's another way to put it Christian when do you think Jimmy's gonna change his phone number and not tell anyone
01:26:50He just got back from Japan and I think he's about to do it
01:26:53Yeah, I don't know what I'm waiting for the day where I text him and it just goes green
01:26:57Yeah, I think he's about to be there. Yeah, like that's the last I'll talk to Jimmy
01:27:01How many how many part of my takes have you done? It's like probably five
01:27:06Yeah, I think that's about the time you switch your number up, you know, I actually have been insisting on not changing my number
01:27:13I'm my number got leaked when we were in college
01:27:16By someone in El Paso
01:27:18they put me in a group chat with like 90 people and said everyone say hi to Jimmy Tate's row and then for like
01:27:24Months, I would just get blown up and this was before it was easy to block people on iPhones
01:27:29So I had to like call Verizon every time and be like, hey, I have this number. I need a book
01:27:34And and at one point I was like, hey, can I block El Paso, Texas?
01:27:44I was set on not changing my number
01:27:46Yeah, so I kept that same number and now you get those spam calls. You just go boom boom walk
01:27:51Yeah, have you gotten the calls where you pick up and it's somebody else that's in your phone book and then they're acting like you
01:27:56called them to
01:27:59That's happened to me like six times in the past year you pick up and
01:28:03You think it's a call from somebody that you know, and then you're like hello and they're like, hello
01:28:07I'm like you called me and they're like no you didn't you called me and who is it?
01:28:11It's just like they
01:28:15Before when we've been sitting in the room together here goes right now, bro. Yeah, we're it will be like
01:28:18What are you calling me right now? It's like no, are you calling me? We're just sitting across from each other. Really?
01:28:23Yeah, and why do people do that out for fun? Yeah, it's actually a great joke
01:28:27Well, there was that whole tick-tock trend that went around that was like you call someone and you're like, hey
01:28:32I actually got to go right now. Yeah, and they're like what no you called me and you're like, sorry
01:28:36I can't talk right now. Yeah
01:28:38Yeah, that's kind of what they're doing but just they don't get really into it they don't listen to it
01:28:43Yeah, so it's really just like I'm inconveniencing somebody. This is funny, right? Which is really the core of comedy. You guys know that yeah
01:28:49That's a frontline martyrs of comics right there. That's like when you would call when you're major your voicemail. Hello. Yeah
01:28:56Hold on one second. I still get God. I'm kidding
01:28:59I get so pissed you feel like such you think you feel like a dog like getting faked out by a tennis ball
01:29:04Yeah, yeah, just like god damn it. Why did I chase that ball? It's not there
01:29:09Who are you guys like first like comedy?
01:29:12What your first comedy experiences that you got into his kids like were you too young for the jerky boys?
01:29:17Like the prank calls. I remember the jerky boys the jerky boys. They were big prank call
01:29:21They would just record prank phone calls and then they became super famous. I was a big
01:29:26Why'd you talk about internet people? Yeah, just like whoever you're like when you're a kid
01:29:30Who I'm not seeing a comedian being like this is awesome. I want to do that
01:29:34Oh, yeah for sure Chappelle was that for me Chappelle show. I was like, this is brilliance like as a kid
01:29:39I mean like record episodes on blank VHS and watch them over and over again. Yeah Chappelle show
01:29:44SNL. Yeah, I liked SNL. I like I like the digital shorts
01:29:48Yeah, when Andy Samberg started doing digital shorts, I was like, ooh, I like this. Yeah, whatever this is. I like this
01:29:54Yeah, yeah
01:29:56Like my TV a lot. Yeah, mad TV was yeah, Will Sasso. Oh all that. Oh, yeah
01:30:02Yeah, and then that was just like funny for the sake of being funny. I'm like silly and goofy. I was about it
01:30:07Yeah, yeah mad TV. There was that stretch for mad TV felt like
01:30:11It's like you almost were doing something like wrong because it was you know, SNL was the established thing and yeah
01:30:17He would would take more risks. You're like, yeah, they'd be a little edgier
01:30:21Badass mad TV fan. Yeah. Yeah, that felt good
01:30:25All right, this has been awesome row back question
01:30:27RHO be a CK comm promo code take 20% off first purchase q-zips polos hoodies joggers shorts
01:30:34Row back comm promo code take so July 5th real bros. See me Valley out on roku
01:30:41What do we got next coming down the pipeline?
01:30:45After that, I mean that's the main thing right now, but do we have another thing?
01:30:49Well, let me ask the different way what is is Jimmy a list yet?
01:30:54Is he be list? I think he's a I think he's a minus. No, I think he's like maybe second team second team a
01:31:02Yeah, definitely. I'm definitely not a team a I think he's second team all a I
01:31:08Appreciate that but you you drive a Tesla. That's true. So that's kind of a that's kind of that's pretty
01:31:14I like going on vacation with Sean White. Mm-hmm. He's dating somebody
01:31:18Big up, you know, I mean, yeah. Yeah. Did you go on vacation with miles teller? No, I didn't
01:31:22Oh, I didn't make it to that one. Who did you go? You were on vacation with someone famous
01:31:28Yeah
01:31:30Does that make you more famous though
01:31:34Like when you're on vacation when you're like in the south of France, it's like oh it's Jimmy and right Lee Cooper, right?
01:31:40Oh fuck
01:31:41Those are the circles, right? Right, right
01:31:43Yeah, we just the three of us just sit at home and be like, yeah, we used to know that guy, right?
01:31:47You're right, but they did crop them out of all the photos, which was weird
01:31:53That one hurt just being in the photos but not tagged, you know
01:32:02So I just got back last night, yeah
01:32:05This is gonna sound like a lie, but my brother is on the team USA deaf volleyball team
01:32:13Okay, go on. Yeah, wait death or death death death. Yeah, so
01:32:18Your brother death he's like 50% like sounds like he's cheating no, so there's
01:32:26There's a
01:32:30Hearing test
01:32:31In order to be qualified as deaf enough. I'm pretty deaf too actually, but I didn't qualify wait a hearing test
01:32:38Could you just be like I didn't what you can't fake it. My mom's an audiologist
01:32:42I had this argument with her like two days ago about being able to fake a hearing test
01:32:46She said you can't do it. I said I could do it. Yeah. Yeah, you can literally just have to say what?
01:32:53Two types of hearing test, okay
01:32:54So like if they don't match up perfectly, they know you're lying got it and it's hard to it's hard to fake it
01:33:00Got it, but your brother figured out a way to fake it. He's yeah
01:33:04so
01:33:06But yeah, he's like 50% death
01:33:08You have to take your hearing aids out, but it was the world championships of deaf volleyball in Okinawa
01:33:13Wow, so I was out there supporting John Petro nice team captain and said win for Team USA
01:33:21Well, he was a team captain. He's the team captain. Was that because he can hear the most
01:33:27Right. That's a real question, right? Oh, he was he's not I think he's not he there's people who can hear more than him
01:33:35Okay. Okay. How'd we do?
01:33:37We did. All right. Oh, no, we we definitely are qualifying for the Olympics in Tokyo
01:33:42This is when?
01:33:44When people say like the end of the Empire of u.s. Like when we lose death volleyball. Mm-hmm. I don't know
01:33:49No, I mean Eastern Europe. They they have volleyball unlocked
01:33:52I also if you tell that like what we played Turkey we played Italy you could tell those teams have been playing together for a
01:33:58Long time. Okay, our our deaf volleyball program is newer here. Okay, we haven't really made an effort by your stock now
01:34:06Okay, okay. Oh, we will be I think in the next few years
01:34:11Now that Johnny's the team captain, yeah, you know when you do when you say this is a golden generation
01:34:15Yeah, I will say Johnny Tatro a lister a list. Yeah, that's a great name
01:34:21USA men's team captain. Yeah, actually we had a we had a beach volleyball
01:34:26Duo team for a while called team Jimmy Jones. Oh, I got Jimmy John's merch for us and we competed in a beach volleyball tournament
01:34:34We got second place actually wait, I got a question so we your rose 50% deaf you said you're kind of deaf
01:34:41I'm like not 50% but I've worn hearing aids since I was four. Okay, and your mom's an audiologist and my sister's an audiologist
01:34:49how did that is that like
01:34:52How did that work out? Yeah, is that a is that chicken and egg? When did you become an audiologist?
01:34:57She became an audiologist before we had hearing losses, but her her parents her dad had a hearing loss
01:35:03And I think that influenced her that's interesting and we've had and then her two kids if you're in losses, it's genetic
01:35:09I just have to imagine that like the the rushes of the world and the teams that are already cheating at the real Olympics
01:35:14Mm-hmm, like if they're doping their people up, they're definitely cheating at the for sure
01:35:20I'm out there. It's funny too because like they they blow the whistle. Yeah, and they're just like holding the ball
01:35:28Because like a whistle that's like none of these guys out there can hear high-pitched sounds, right?
01:35:33I can barely hear a whistle and they all have their hearing aids out. So like when they're like the play is dead
01:35:38It's like they just kind of keep going
01:35:43Definitely gotta like give them a little a little wave. That's a very cool move though to go all the way to Japan to support
01:35:48Your brother. Yeah, cuz that's not out of them, you know, yeah, that's a long flight. It was a long flight
01:35:53That's a long game straight here
01:35:56That's ready for you. Yeah, we're gonna release this on Friday. So people will know how much of a debacle beer games
01:36:02Oh, yeah, you guys competing? Yeah, we're gonna fuck. Yeah, we actually got kicked out. I saw the state. Yeah
01:36:07I was yeah, what happened? We got kicked out because we threatened to quit
01:36:11We kept on saying it'd be a real shame if it got canceled. Yeah, and then they
01:36:16We just shit on it so much that they're like, we don't want you and then we we we talked to Will and Taylor and we're
01:36:21Back in it's been a long. This has been a tough games to pull off. Yeah, you I don't know if you guys understand what tumultuous
01:36:30Headlines, yeah, yeah, actually that probably if you if someone claims you're an a-lister
01:36:34You could just be like well no because I complete competed in the beer games. Yeah, I think this
01:36:40Any progress I had
01:36:43We're going back about the vacation
01:36:46the height of the beer games was
01:36:48Travis Kelsey and Jason Kelsey were gonna compete and will legitimately thought there was a 30% chance Taylor Swift was gonna show up to
01:36:55the four of us
01:36:59Okay, I can imagine like Taylor just watching us drink beer and like clapping your hands be like yeah, that was so fast
01:37:04Good job
01:37:06Max is competing. Okay. Yeah Hank is competing. So we're just grabbing everyone off the street
01:37:11Are you guys gonna be last year? We did not compete last year
01:37:14Are you guys nervous about the events and how it's gonna shake out? Yes. Yeah. I mean we're going up
01:37:19This is my wake-up alarm, by the way, this isn't like a you know, get off of the show
01:37:24No, no, that's okay. So, you know the we're going up against like a bunch of offensive linemen
01:37:28So we're gonna we heard yeah, that's fine. Yeah. Yeah
01:37:31But you know what? Let's just have will be the vibes crew. Yeah, I've seen Taylor chug a beer
01:37:35Yeah, that was maxy the first time I met him was at the the machine. That's how he greets people
01:37:40He's like, hey, I'm totally on what aren't you impressed by this? Yeah
01:37:44We cheers and he was like you guys want to chug these and I was like, I just got here to this premiere
01:37:48But nice to meet you
01:37:50I like I was still tilting up when his dropped. Yeah. Yeah, and so that's what's that's in my head
01:37:57There's a chance. There's a very good chance that we're all getting invited to Taylor's house just so he can beat us in beer games
01:38:02Mm-hmm
01:38:03Which I respect that like if I were him I would do the same thing where I'd be like
01:38:07Let me just invite a bunch of people
01:38:09I know I can beat but just boost my ego for if you do that though
01:38:12I'm not coming to your birthday party then. Yeah, this is your birthday party. Yeah, this is his birthday party
01:38:16That's a fact. Oh, yeah, buck TRE's in the games and and I think that guy can definitely he can yeah
01:38:21You know, I've seen him Chuck. He's there's a good chance
01:38:24He tries to fight me because I'm gonna get drunk and start talking shit about Aaron. Yeah, that's a good possibility
01:38:30Yeah, but yeah the competing against offensive linemen and beer drinking competitions does not feel like a winning recipe for for men of our stature
01:38:37No, right. Yeah, I'd say, you know guys like us. Mm-hmm in this size
01:38:42510 510. Yeah, me too. Same. This actually is probably the biggest
01:38:47So, how do we money what's our yeah, Arizona like this you guys are never gonna go back to a final four
01:38:53so this is the
01:38:55Wow, oh, you don't think so. Okay. No, probably not. Oh, wow
01:39:07I don't hate many schools. I hate we had this debate. Yeah because of Kaminsky, right? Yeah his back-to-back years
01:39:13Yeah, yeah, you guys had really good better teams
01:39:16You had teams that let's just say you had teams that if you were
01:39:19Picking teams you would have picked a lot of Arizona players before Wisconsin players. Yeah, right
01:39:24We still have I mean Aaron Gordon still going strong. Yeah, true. Yeah, that's awesome. Basically. Yeah
01:39:33Yeah, and he's not the guy that I thought was gonna be I thought it was gonna be what's his name Aiden?
01:39:37Yeah, DeAndre. No and before that like I thought Nick Johnson was gonna like, oh, yeah
01:39:43You shit
01:39:47Weird dude, my gauge was all off on that one pretty weird
01:39:52All right. Well, thank you boys for coming on. Yeah, it's been awesome Christian. Great to meet you

01:42:39We want everyone to just remind us that we are ball knowers if you call in
01:42:43Because we were the first to put coach Cal in the hot seat
01:42:46And then we everything that we said was gonna happen turned out to be correct
01:42:51Exactly right in Nostradamus if if you had listened to us seven years ago
01:42:55You would be much happier right now. You'd be in a better place right better place, so we do know ball
01:42:59Yes, Shannon has he called back in do you want to try to call him? Oh?
01:43:05Maybe Shannon's talking to him you might be talking sounds good. I feel like that's good. Okay. Here. We go alright, so
01:43:12for the first time ever in Kentucky Sports Radio history
01:43:16We want to welcome on a friend of ours who's been on part of my take he's a legend in the state of Kentucky
01:43:22He's a horse racing
01:43:24aficionado it is st. John's head basketball coach Rick Pitino coach
01:43:30Are you there? I am good to be with you guys. It's great to hear from you
01:43:36We're very excited to have you on we're so we've hosted this show eight years in a row whenever Matt is on vacation
01:43:43And we were the first to say the cow was on the hot seat eight years ago
01:43:47So today has been a victory lap for us
01:43:49And we thought there's no better guy to have on to pump up big blue nation your relationship with Mark Pope then coach Rick Pitino
01:43:56So let's start there. I have some st. John's questions as well, but okay
01:44:00What what are we getting out of Mark Pope as a basketball coach?
01:44:06Well, obviously I'm extremely biased because he was my captain of the national championship team and was a great captain a tireless worker
01:44:15And I absolutely love him and what he did for our program
01:44:19But that being said when I was not working I traveled out to see him coach a
01:44:25small school division one school on Grand Valley or something something like that and I was blown away for
01:44:31How good a teacher he was and then I watched every game I could at BYU and loved their offense
01:44:40It was it was great ball movement great player movement, and I just think Mark
01:44:46Does a fabulous job at communicating with his players. He has a great way about it
01:44:51And and he has a quality that very few of us have he has incredible humility
01:44:58and
01:45:00and
01:45:01for somebody who
01:45:03at a very young age
01:45:05Just as a tireless work and is accomplishing things. He's always maintained the same humility that he had back when he was a player and
01:45:13Mark would you know obviously guys like Antoine and those guys all guys from inner cities and
01:45:19My language wasn't the greatest either, but every day would mark if he made a mistake he would say Frick
01:45:25and
01:45:26Constantly Frick Frick Frick and finally after a week it is as a mark
01:45:31I can tell you what whatever God that you pray to he knows what you mean, so why don't you say it or drop it?
01:45:41Just words yeah, it doesn't matter if it's a if it's an R. If it's a you
01:45:45I think the message is getting across because when they they hired Mark Pope you you were saying that you know what it might
01:45:52Be time for Rick Pitino to cut a check to Kentucky's NIL program. Is that something that you're actually considering doing?
01:45:59well, I actually cut a check to the football program because I'm a
01:46:04casual friend of
01:46:06Mark and and Eddie Grand and I cut a check to the football program
01:46:11But I would definitely cut a check if mark needs me for anything
01:46:16No matter what except for my firstborn Michael. He can have it
01:46:20Because I
01:46:23Absolutely love mark and would do anything for you for his program
01:46:27I'm very I had I always called
01:46:30University of Kentucky Camelot for me. I never had a bad year never had a bad day
01:46:35They treated me like a king they treated me with great respect
01:46:39So I only had obviously I didn't get treated great when I was at Louisville
01:46:44But sitting sitting back on it and examining it today. I totally understand why
01:46:48So I am very very fond of the University of Kentucky rooting for football I sent the baseball coach a text wishing him
01:46:56Good luck. So I'm very bullish on mark and the football program and hope they do great
01:47:01I love it. And and I think the thing that Kentucky
01:47:05basketball fans should be excited about and maybe you can speak to this more is
01:47:09Kentucky basketball in the last few years now, obviously Cal had success at the beginning of his run
01:47:13But in the last few years, it feels like the actual
01:47:16Coaching X's and O's maybe wasn't there all the time Mark Pope if you watched him at BYU
01:47:22The guy knows how to coach basketball and and maybe you could speak to this specifically
01:47:27But like being able to coach guys and put them in the best sets to be able to you know
01:47:32Drop winning plays the end of games. I feel like Mark Pope is the perfect guy for that
01:47:37He is he look Mark Pope is isn't he tried to become a doctor and it wasn't his niche
01:47:43Mark Pope was a Rhodes Scholar candidate and he's just an extremely bright person and
01:47:48Combining his credentials about being bright. He's an excellent teacher of basketball
01:47:53He also has you know, he was also a terrific basketball player that got the maximum of his abilities
01:47:59Because he gave it all every single day
01:48:02Great leader. He showed great leaders to everybody in the team
01:48:06Just thought he was the best guy in the team in terms of never said a negative word about a teammate
01:48:11Never said a negative word about his coaching staff
01:48:14loyal to the point that that you couldn't quite believe it and he and his and his wife and
01:48:21Children are the same way just wonderful wonderful people and you know, look how did a terrific job?
01:48:26But what happens with a lot of coaches? I mean there are exceptions to the rule
01:48:30I think those self and I think Mike Shushefsky, you know, you run out of
01:48:35Familiarity breeds contempt you there a long time you get a little stale. You need another journey and
01:48:41So everybody this is this is now mark Pope's time
01:48:45Yeah, and Cal Cal Cal was great for the University of Kentucky
01:48:49He brought them a lot of success and we wish him certainly well at Arkansas
01:48:53And then now it's time to move on and have a whole different brand. Yeah. Yep. You said it
01:48:58Coach do you have any message for the Kentucky fans that are listening right now?
01:49:02I don't know if you've had an opportunity to address them over the last few years here
01:49:06But um that we've got a lot of them listening right now that that care about you that care about program
01:49:11Look, I love the Kentucky fans to me a very very special
01:49:17They were entreated me my family with great reverence
01:49:21I got nothing but great things to say about the Kentucky fan. I I totally get it today why?
01:49:28They were bitter at me of going to the University of Louisville
01:49:31I was going back because the reason I was going back is I loved Kentucky so much from my UK days and
01:49:37Wanted to relive that love of love of the sport, but right now they have a fabulous program with with all sports
01:49:45And I think that I think that's gonna be a special special
01:49:50Time for mark Pope and the University of Kentucky Wildcats because I think he's good
01:49:54I think the fans are gonna fall in love with mark. Yeah, because the thing about him
01:49:58The Pope Pope didn't matter the name on the back never mattered to mark
01:50:02He could care less about individual glory could care less about it if anybody mentioned that he played a great game
01:50:08It's always about team. It's always about, Kentucky
01:50:12And Jeff Shepherd's and and Ron Mercer's and mash burns and all those guys that I coach
01:50:18It was always about Kentucky Pelfrey bell house
01:50:22Farmer all about them, and I used to always kid those guys in the locker room
01:50:27They always give every time they put the jersey on Pelfrey would tear up and it says something wrong with you Johnny
01:50:32You're not feeling well. He said no every time I put that uniform on. I just can't believe I'm putting it on
01:50:37I said we'll get over John. We got a big game, man
01:50:42That's great
01:50:43Yeah playing for the front playing for the name in the front of the jersey is important especially in today's college basketball
01:50:48So speaking of that you you have practice in about 20 minutes
01:50:53How is your team looking this year because it looks like you guys added some really talented players
01:50:58You were right on the cusp last year. It was your first year
01:51:02How how do you feel like this team is going to shape and put and be put together when you guys start playing ball in?
01:51:09November
01:51:10Well, we're much bigger with seven one seven foot six ten six nine
01:51:15Our backcourt I never thought I'd coach another guard as fast as Peyton Siever
01:51:20But I have a young man from Utah Dave Young Smith who is faster than as fast if not faster than Peyton Siever
01:51:27I have Kadari Richmond from Seton Hall who was a first-team all Big East basketball player at Simeon Wilshire
01:51:33Who's a sophomore now who's also a terrific guard?
01:51:36So the backcourt is really strong. The wings are very strong and the centers, although they don't have great experience
01:51:43Are very big big and talented and athletic. So I'm really bullish on this basketball team
01:51:49We were supposed to play Kentucky but couldn't work it out and I'm hoping that I we can come to
01:51:55Lexington next year for our 30th reunion and and Kentucky can go back to the Madison Square Garden the following year
01:52:01I like that. Yeah, Kentucky. I love it duck and patina. I love it
01:52:05You step up to the plate give give the people what they want coach
01:52:08Are we are we planning on wearing more suits this year? That's very important for us. I
01:52:13wore all suits the whole season just about with the exception of a
01:52:16White out where I wore a white jacket and jeans outside of that I wore suits the whole year. I like that
01:52:22Yeah, it doesn't feel right when you look on the sidelines and you see coach patina wearing a like a polo shirt
01:52:28We want to see the suits every game coach
01:52:30I'm definitely gonna be in a minute and you know what? I believe in it. It's it's something I've done all my life
01:52:35So why not continue why change?
01:52:37There's certain things you have to change you have to change the way you coach players today the way you run your offenses defenses
01:52:43Treat them and off the court as well, but certain things should not change and that's one of those
01:52:48Yeah coaching these spring and summer practices. What are you looking for this early on as you're putting a team together?
01:52:53What what are you keen on and practice that's telling you? Okay, we could have a good team this year
01:52:59You know, I made a mistake last year
01:53:01I did not have my team ready early in the year because I was just focused on player development
01:53:06Working on this skill development and I didn't work on a lot of team things
01:53:10Defensively and we were not ready early. We were ready late and it probably
01:53:15Stopped us because the NCAA
01:53:17No longer cared about the last ten games of the season that they were treating the first ten equal to the last ten
01:53:24So now I understand that I don't think the net means a whole lot
01:53:28I think it's really quad one wins quad two wins
01:53:32Making sure you don't lose like we did to Michigan a quad three
01:53:36We never expected Michigan to be a quad three game
01:53:38But it was so I'm gonna have the team more ready defensively going into September. I love it coach
01:53:46I have one last question. I I missed you. I saw you were at Saratoga for the Belmont Stakes. I was there as well
01:53:52Yep, how did you do? I hope you did better than me. I lost about $20,000 that weekend
01:53:58Not great. Not great. I was I thought I had figured it out
01:54:02I did the one thing you can't do on a horse racing weekend is win the second race of the first day
01:54:09Because then you think you got it figured out and then I don't think I want to race for like 15 races in a row
01:54:13But how did you do and and what do you guys have some horses coming up? I?
01:54:18Do I'm racing tomorrow. I have a horse called agalos de great
01:54:23Who's the name of my agent in Greece and agalos de great is running at aqueduct getting ready
01:54:29It's a prep race coming off a long vacation to get ready for a big stake at Finger Lakes
01:54:34I was I believe I was two for 22
01:54:37Okay, and getting destroyed and I went back and tried to renegotiate my contract with st. John's
01:54:44But I did I did get out on the last race when I was leaving and if you could win the last race
01:54:51You can cut your losses in half
01:54:52yeah that way was it the last last race or the second I won the second to last race on Saturday that was like a
01:54:59Like a 14 to 1 shot and I was like, oh man, maybe I did for this was it
01:55:05Yeah, this was a it was a long. Yeah, I think it was the same horse. Yeah, I was on the turtle
01:55:09He came out of no. Yes. Yeah. Yes. It was. Yes. It was. That's right
01:55:14Yeah
01:55:14You need to when you have a bad weekend at the at the tracks
01:55:18You need to just turn to our good friend Mike Rapoli and be like, come on. Let's go. I got what I told my wife
01:55:24I'm never going to the track again, and she
01:55:28Said I've heard that now 1100 times
01:55:36She said aglos degrees racing aqueduct tomorrow what race is he in because I'm gonna I might sprinkle a few nickels on him
01:55:42You know, I don't know. I think it's the fifth race. I'm actually traveling to Tampa for
01:55:48Unfortunately for a funeral and I won't see it. But I know it's I think it's the fifth race of my other friend
01:55:55Chris Mara who owns his family owns the Giants
01:55:58We he has a horse in the race and we're betting dinner to see which horse finishes out of who I like that
01:56:03I like high stakes coach
01:56:05I'm actually I'm taking a trip to Greece next week and I was hoping that you could you could maybe teach me
01:56:10Something to say a good phrase to say or any tips about what are you gonna be? When will you be there?
01:56:15I'm gonna be there Saturday through I believe Saturday full week
01:56:19I'm going July
01:56:21The six to see them try and qualify for the Olympics I try to help the Federation a little bit there and
01:56:28You're going to Athens. I'm gonna be traveling around a bit. Yeah, Athens then checking out some of the beaches, too
01:56:34Great. So obviously you say you have to understand the greetings
01:56:39They always say Cali matter for for good morning. Kelly spatter for for
01:56:44Afternoon Cali Nita, it's good night. And you always just by just just saying yassas. That's hello. Goodbye
01:56:52Pollock hello
01:56:53You're welcome. Hello
01:56:56Paul see say
01:56:58That you get about seven eight expressions. And of course
01:57:02The firm expression that you have to use if somebody cuts you off Malacca. Okay. Okay lock a guy. I love it
01:57:10Well coach, I know you got practice coming up. I want to thank you so much for calling in
01:57:15We're excited about Mark Pope. I'm excited about st. John's this year
01:57:19Thanks so much and have a great practice
01:57:22All right, guys. Tell Mark. I love him. Okay. All right. Thanks so much
01:57:25That was like coach Rick Pitino calling in to Kentucky Sports Radio history has been made full endorsement hatchet buried hatchet Barry
01:57:32Well, no, I wouldn't say so you don't think for us on this day. Yeah, Rick Pitino is always welcome on this day
01:57:39Yes, but thank you to coach Pitino. I told everyone they got it
01:57:43They got to stay tuned in for all the people who usually say they turn it off after two minutes
01:57:47I think we delivered you can tell this guy loves Kentucky. Yes, he really cares about the state
01:57:51Yes, and he kind of it sounds like he kind of feels bad about going to Louisville. Yeah, he's like I'm I get it
01:57:57Well, maybe not he doesn't feel bad, but he understands the hate that he got. Yeah. Yeah
01:58:02And so, you know, you know, it's good to see that
01:58:05You know everything's being mended and he's clearly rooting for Mark Pope as are we all right
01:58:09We're gonna take a break when we come back. We'll finish up our one
01:58:12We also want to hear from you Kentucky sports fans eight five nine two eight zero two two eight seven
01:58:17That's a Clark pump and shop phone number. We're gonna take a break quick break. We'll be back right after this
01:58:23All right, who do we got next?
01:58:26We got we got Jack on the line Jack from Oakland. Hey Jack. What's up? Jack Jack? What's going on?
01:58:32Hey guys, how you doing? I know we're good. We're good. So Jack we've been taking a little victory lap today
01:58:39Because we we called coach cows firing eight years ago and he ended up getting fired
01:58:45So I you know, we know ball it all kind of came to a head when they played in the tournament this year
01:58:51I don't know. Did you catch the game?
01:58:54I caught a little bit of it. I caught a little bit. Yeah, so so basically what happened was Cal
01:59:00Has a great team and they go up against Oakland and
01:59:04There's a guy on the other side Jack Cokie who they just didn't guard
01:59:08I don't know if you saw that at all this guy like do what if you're if you don't ball at all like you would
01:59:14Have guarded a guy like Jack Cokie, right? I
01:59:17Mean, yeah, like you would think that a guy likes like me or him. That's that's really just stroking it like that
01:59:23They would pick them up full pretty much. Yeah
01:59:26During the second half were you surprised that that they were still letting Jack Cokie get these open looks
01:59:32yeah, it's kind of like
01:59:34like I said pick him up full like deny every catch and
01:59:38Just make it tough for him. Like don't let don't catch the ball
01:59:41Don't let him get a shot up because you know the result that's gonna come from that
01:59:44Yeah, yeah
01:59:45I mean anybody that watched that who knows ball knew that you should guard Jack Cokie
01:59:49And you know at this point me and big cat mentioned in the first hour
01:59:53But Jack Cokie kind of could be responsible for the second coming of Kentucky. I guess the third coming of Kentucky
02:00:00When they return to glory in the next five ten years
02:00:02Do you think that Jack Cokie should be present at whatever?
02:00:05Kentucky's next banner ceremony is because he was the man that inspired Kentucky to make a change. I
02:00:12Think they should definitely invite him. I hope he gets a warm. Welcome when they when they do bring him out and
02:00:18Maybe even throw him some of that collective money. Yeah
02:00:21That sounds that sounds like I like that
02:00:23And then if there's like maybe two radio hosts that inspired Jack Cokie to attend that ceremony
02:00:29They should probably get a cut of that in I own money, too, right?
02:00:32Yeah, I think it should probably be split three ways evenly. I would think you know, yeah
02:00:36So Jack at what point during that game? Did you know you're on fire?
02:00:42Man it was it was early. I
02:00:45I
02:00:47Saw that green light and I just started gunning. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Have you gone back and do do you watch the highlights of that game?
02:00:55I've definitely rewatched the game a couple times. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't
02:01:00Have you had a moment since where you're like, they really just didn't want to guard me at all I
02:01:08Think I mean, I don't know after we're the game
02:01:11I just kind of rewatched it and I was like there were definitely some open looks I had but at the same time like I
02:01:17Think they were they were definitely trying like it was it wasn't like they were just out there walking around, you know
02:01:22No, that actually hurts more because that means you were just better than them
02:01:29Hey Jack, are we I know the answer is probably no but like maybe is there a chance your name gets called today
02:01:36Man I got my fingers crossed. I'm not expecting it, but that would be a great surprise for sure
02:01:42Well, I mean that you can look at Kentucky
02:01:44There's guys that are coming off the bench at Kentucky that are getting drafted pretty high
02:01:47You came off the bench and I think that the formula is right there. You might be picked in the second round
02:01:51I'm rooting for you, man
02:01:52And if you don't get drafted, I I'm assuming that there's gonna be a team that at least invites you in for a look, right?
02:01:59Yeah, that's the plan right now
02:02:01It'll kind of all shake out today and tomorrow honestly
02:02:04And I'll kind of figure out where I'm gonna be headed hopefully for summer league and maybe I'll see you guys out there
02:02:09Yeah, absolutely Jack one last thing because I think maybe some listeners right now are like this is a prank
02:02:14This isn't actually Jack Colton
02:02:17Can you explain to us the set of your favorite three against Kentucky that you hit in the in the first round of the tournament?
02:02:26Yes, sir. So favorite set we ran against Kentucky first round of the tournament the first one I made
02:02:31It's called UCLA a side elevator screen
02:02:35Sprint out towards our bench and and hit a fadeaway three
02:02:41And there's a lot of people in Kentucky that are listening right now and I
02:02:45Hope that maybe you'd take the time to just say I'm sorry for beating him so badly
02:02:50Yeah, I just like to apologize that they got their hopes up. I'm not gonna apologize for winning
02:02:55But I know there's a lot of final fours in the brackets and champions in the brackets. I'd like to apologize for that
02:03:01Yeah, big man. All right. Well Jack, thanks so much for calling in where you know, we're big fans of you and
02:03:07Good luck with wherever your next spot is for summer league
02:03:11Yes, I appreciate you guys for having me. Take care. See ya. Thanks Jack. That was Jack. Okie Jack from Oakland personal friend of ours
02:03:18Cool guy. I think we deserve that one after getting rippatino on yeah, we can do no
02:03:22Well, this is the danger that you run into right now me and big cat. We feel like we can do a heat check
02:03:26Yeah, we should have stopped after an hour
02:03:28We should have walked off and been like look we finally repaired our relationship with Big Blue Nation
02:03:34Instead we stuck around and that's when it we start to just be like hey, we could do anything
02:03:38It is an abusive relationship that we're in we just treat
02:03:41We just took you out to the nicest dinner that you've ever had at the best Italian restaurant in town
02:03:45And then right afterwards we just we go ahead and cheat on you again. Yeah. All right
02:03:50We're gonna take a break when we come back. We'll take some more calls. We have Sam Decker and Frank Kaminsky coming up
02:03:55Okay
02:03:57Let's go to the next caller. All right, let's go to cliff cliff. What's up?
02:04:02What's up, guys? So I'm a little I'm a you guys definitely no ball
02:04:11Cliff wins the Don Franklin auto call of the day. That's it right there. Just saying we know ball. It's a great point
02:04:18Yeah, what do you get? Do you get a free car from that?
02:04:21I think so. Yeah, okay. Go to the dealership and say I I won call of the day. Where's my truck?
02:04:27Yeah, Matt Jones said I get a truck
02:04:30so
02:04:31in
02:04:33Gonna take you back just real quick in 1997. I went to a book signing with Rick Patino
02:04:38He was doing success as a choice. And of course, I'm a UK fan and
02:04:43As a little boy, I went up to him and I said hey you're not gonna go to the NBA and he said I promise
02:04:50I'm not going to go to the NBA
02:04:52So he lied to me and when I didn't care we started getting a lot of
02:04:57Players to go to Boston, which was fun to watch, you know, UK players go there, but when he went to Louisville
02:05:04That was a slap in the face, and I don't know if I've forgiven him yet, but today's call. I think you guys
02:05:12Finally kind of helped me turn that corner with him
02:05:15I
02:05:16Want to say thank you for that
02:05:18but you know ball and you know how to get to our heartstrings to here in Kentucky because that was absolutely
02:05:25It was a great call by him and hopefully Pope
02:05:30Succeeds, you know, we love Pope out here and go bills. I love it Cliff
02:05:36So so little how old were you when in 1997? I was
02:05:4114 okay, so 14 year old cliff can finally let go of a grudge 20 almost a 20-year grudge
02:05:50Or no more than a 20-year grudge
02:05:52Today we did that
02:05:54Yeah, thank you so much for doing that for me. I love it. I love it. It's a good moment
02:05:59I love hearing that because you've been walking around with you know
02:06:02That that tension in your shoulders for this this past 20 years is hating Rick Pitino now, you know what he came home
02:06:08Today is the first day of the rest of your life cliff
02:06:11Thank you. Yeah, this is important
02:06:13Yeah, for sure now when you did call in and you said when I was a little kid and I got my books
02:06:17I thought you were gonna say you were six years old and you said don't go
02:06:21You were in high school. Yeah
02:06:26Little kid, but I mean 14, I mean I was not driving so anything below I guess 16. I'll consider a kid, you know
02:06:34Yeah, I was 14 I can't believe luckily we didn't have the internet then or not like do we do now it's true
02:06:41It's a good point. I don't I don't think that you're gonna run into that problem with Pope
02:06:44I feel like this is this is the job that Pope wants. It's not a stepping stone
02:06:48He's not gonna leave because a chicken farm offered him more money
02:06:50This is the guy and he wants to be here
02:06:53And I do have a question for both of you if you could share a story
02:06:57share a story about Matt Jones because oh
02:07:00Y'all get to know him a little bit more than we do behind the scenes and he doesn't talk about everything
02:07:06He talks about a lot of stuff. But is there something like a silly story?
02:07:09You try to fit into something he couldn't fit into. Yeah. Y'all have a good rest of day
02:07:14All right. Thanks cliff. That is a call a day
02:07:15I don't know what story comes up in your head right away PFT
02:07:19I want to show the first time that I met Matt. Okay. All right first time I met him
02:07:22I was living in New York City
02:07:24Great bourbon in New York great racehorses up there and
02:07:27I was in my apartment in the West Village and I get a knock on my door and I go to my door and
02:07:34It's this guy with a funky haircut. No sideburns
02:07:38Wearing a Kentucky polo shirt, but he had a clipboard in his hand. I said, how can I help you sir?
02:07:43He's like I'm here canvassing for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
02:07:46Would you like to sign up to be a member of her campaign staff and I said no
02:07:51Thank you, and then I shut the door on him and then I found out two years later. That was Matt Jones
02:07:54Yeah, he was he was nice as could be in the moment. I just didn't feel like talking to him
02:07:58Yeah, so my that's a great story my first time meeting Matt Jones. He actually
02:08:05So it's similar. I was minding my own business get a knock at the door
02:08:09two big men in suits
02:08:12Put a burlap sack over my head threw me in a van and then I ended up at a meeting of the Illuminati
02:08:19And Matt Jones was there and he tapped me for the Illuminati and he said you're part of us now
02:08:24I said I don't want to do this Matt Jones
02:08:26Please and he's like no if you're in the Illuminati you're in the Illuminati
02:08:30So I am part of the Illuminati now because of Matt Jones
02:08:32So I do have to thank him for that and I'll say something very nice about Matt. He sells the best adrenochrome
02:08:37Yes, it is. It is delicious and I feel I always feel better the morning after drinking it
02:08:43Yeah, thank you Matt and and Kentucky Sports Radio listeners who love Matt
02:08:46You should know that he is going to live to about 300 years because he's been drinking baby blood for a very long time
02:08:52Mm-hmm. Would you say Shannon Shannon? Oh, this is true. Yeah. Yeah, it's all true. Yeah
02:08:59Gonna be the one to say those things, but I'm glad that you did first
02:09:05One thing I appreciate about him as he saves all his best radio and his best takes for when he's doing ESPN radio
02:09:11He's doing like pregame shows in the morning on Sundays
02:09:14Yeah, and so a big audience gets to listen to him and then he goes back on Kentucky
02:09:18He's got the leftover scraps for you guys. Yeah, but he does a very good job on national radio. Yeah, so no Matt's a great guy
02:09:24We've known him for a very long time. He's because it's kind of a funny relationship because in all honesty he when we started
02:09:32We were we weren't huge
02:09:34We had a little bit of a rocket ship with part of my take but
02:09:37he invited us on to host and it was one of the funnest days that we have every single year and
02:09:43He's been a supporter of us. There's been times when it's been hard to be a supporter of us
02:09:48So we always remember friends like that and he's he's a loyal guy through and through and I think that's that's a real thing
02:09:54The Illuminati is real as well
02:09:56but Matt is very loyal and he's been a loyal friend for many years and he does actually care about the state of Kentucky very
02:10:01Very much very deeply no matter how big his audience gets if he's doing TV shows if he's on get up debating against Steven
02:10:08Whatever the case might be he cares first and foremost about Kentucky sports and I that's never gonna change the Matt
02:10:14I do he's a very very nice guy. Yeah, this is actually a real true story
02:10:19And I hope I didn't get mad at me for this, but I don't think he will Shannon Matt obviously talked about possibly
02:10:25Dipping his toes into politics. Yes. Yes, correct
02:10:28So when he was thinking about it, he called me and he was like hey
02:10:33I'm thinking about this just so you know if I do end up doing this
02:10:38there will be people who will come after me and they will come after you because your
02:10:43Association with me and he was trying to give me a heads up and I was just laughing the whole time
02:10:47He called me cuz I was like, dude
02:10:48You you don't think we've heard everything that's been said about us the people that hate us like this is gonna be nothing
02:10:53I don't know how it's gonna go for you
02:10:55But he was nice enough to like he was thinking of his friends in that moment of like hey if I'd go down this path
02:11:01with politics it could affect the people in my life and
02:11:04He was nice enough and aware enough to give me a heads up which I didn't need
02:11:10That it could be a ripple effect or a waterfall effect
02:11:14That if he does this we could be in the crosshairs as well
02:11:17And I always appreciated that from him and on his side of that that I guess equation
02:11:22He was going through on whether or not to pursue politics or not
02:11:25He got uh, he got his hands on some opposition research
02:11:28and he said they will attack you or they will attack me for being friends with a part of my take guys and
02:11:34Never once did it occur to Matt to distance himself or anything like that. He's like, I still love you guys
02:11:39I'll still defend you come on Kentucky Sports Radio once a year. I like this relationship. So he's a loyal guy
02:11:45He's not gonna turn his back because his backs against yeah, this is actually turning into a sappy Matt Jones segment
02:11:50but it's it's a great point because there's been we've had through the course of our podcast and
02:11:55When we were on TV for one episode
02:11:58We've had people who we thought were our friends not be our friends and not defend us and Matt Jones is the opposite
02:12:04he's he's someone who has always defended us and never been ashamed of his relationship with us and
02:12:11You as you get older and you realize that there are a lot of people that will be nice to your face
02:12:18But not nice when you're out of the room
02:12:20It's guys like Matt Jones who are the authentic guys who you got to hold on to those guys because those are the real ones
02:12:26Yeah, whenever Matt needs a favor. We are there for him. Yeah, this is
02:12:30Yeah, come on should we go to a break now and in this
02:12:37Right right now Matt's listening he's probably crying and he's on his his yacht with Greta Thunberg
02:12:42And they're sailing across the Atlantic Ocean right now, and he's listening on satellite radio
02:12:46And so Matt just know that everything that we just said about you. We were just saying because you pay us
02:12:51What is it this year like $500,000
02:12:53To host Kentucky Sports Radio hours each year, so I think it works out to like something like $10,000 a minute mm-hmm well worth it

02:14:33Henry yes
02:14:35What is your fire fest of the week? I mean we can we can kind of recap
02:14:40The beer games my my fire fest is pretty much all beer games related
02:14:44Mm-hmm the hangover that it caused me. Mm-hmm. I sent me back. Maybe lifetimes
02:14:50Maybe years have fallen off my leg of a terminal hangover. I have so far
02:14:55It's been two rough days like yesterday was rough, but the first days. What happened yesterday?
02:15:00Yesterday I was just just really really hungover. We had to travel we got to the airport
02:15:05I left my wall in the uber we had to wait. Okay, though. You're going too fast. You're going too fast. I'll explain
02:15:11Yesterday we had to work
02:15:13We had to travel to Cincinnati to interview Joe Burrow, which is coming out Monday, July 8th when we're back from break
02:15:21Just another reminder. We're going on break this week. We'll have Dungeons and Dragons on Monday. We'll have our dingers only draft with
02:15:28Gunner Henderson joined the show quickly before
02:15:31On Wednesday, and we'll also update any NBA free agency that that show day and then Joe Burrow on that Monday
02:15:37So we all were very hungover from beer games. Mm-hmm your games was a lot of fun
02:15:43I'm happy with my retirement. It was a lot of fun to hang out with the boys
02:15:46the hangover and
02:15:49The getting beat up in the pool was not as much fun. The the hangover anxiety is the worst part
02:15:54Yeah, I get I get tremendously anxious the morning after and it's gotten so bad that now I give myself a pre hangover before
02:16:02I start drinking. So before I start drinking I think to myself. Oh my god. I'm gonna be so hungover the next day
02:16:08I'm gonna have all this anxiety then that gives me anxiety going into it
02:16:12Yeah, so it's like just thinking about drinking now gives me anxiety
02:16:15But I still love it. Yeah, it was it was it was fun. Like it was fun hanging out with the boys
02:16:20I did want to go home around four o'clock in the afternoon
02:16:23But that's just that that could have been at a bar down the street from my house
02:16:27And I would have been like I'm ready to go home. So it was fun. You had fun max
02:16:31Yeah, it was it was very very fun. We were talking a lot of a lot of shames on it before
02:16:36But looking back it was great. It was great. Yeah, it was great
02:16:39The boys this deck and I showed up and walk a flock I was in the building I was like this
02:16:43Yeah, and it was shout-out David back to you. I know we said it on Wednesday. He's the man. So was Graham Glasgow
02:16:48Why so it's Quinn Nelson. Yeah, they're all like everyone was awesome the boys. It really was it was it was the boys
02:16:55There's a boy saying I was the boy having a great saw Chris long Chris Chris long who we love doctor facts
02:17:01Yeah, all of it was a blast
02:17:03But so the the one part that wasn't a blast was waking up the next day super hungover in Nashville having to go to
02:17:09Cincinnati
02:17:11Hank woke up
02:17:12We got like an hour of Hank energy at lunch
02:17:17Then we got to the airport, you know when we burned the Hank energy
02:17:21we went out to lunch and that place had a line and then we had to turn back and
02:17:26Abandon that lunch plan and at that point Hank switched. Yeah the first inconvenience. He was like, well, I tried
02:17:31Oh, we got to go to gumbo. He had he had like good hyper like I'm I'm okay energy for the first hour of the day
02:17:38And then from that moment on he just was a zero because we got to the airport
02:17:43We get ready to our pilot. Yes, we flew private
02:17:48I know that sounds crazy, but we were we had to go to Nashville since he since he's Chicago all within like a five-hour spot
02:17:54But we're sitting there ready to go and our pilots like alright here. We ready to go. Let's get on the plane and Hank stands
02:18:01Up. He's like I don't have my wallet. He had left his wallet in the uber to the airport
02:18:05That delayed us like 45 minutes really had no remorse he made it our problem
02:18:10Yeah, he kind of was just like whatever guys. That's not true. I just wouldn't hit outside
02:18:14Yeah, I acted like I was gonna do anything outside
02:18:16But I just didn't want to deal with you guys staring daggers at me
02:18:19Yeah, just went and sat outside then slept on the flight slept on the bus ride to the Joe Burrow interview
02:18:26kind of slinked around at the Joe Burrow interview was just I
02:18:30Gave Hank an hour and a half to give me one question for Joe Burrow the question got the people the question
02:18:35Banter that they quite tremendous banter tremendous banter. I can't wait to release that question. We'll make a clip. It is should not
02:18:43Preface it with that. I said it in the interview and people will be like the best question interviews
02:18:47No, we'll make a clip out of this and then we'll attach it to the actual question
02:18:50Let's see if it will let the people decide if it gets the bet the banter going
02:18:53But I asked Hank for one question for Joe Burrow an hour and a half before the interview
02:18:58I checked in with him after 45 minutes. I was like, do you have a question? Hank was like, I have nothing
02:19:03I have absolutely nothing to add but you did get one to me eventually
02:19:07but we determined that what the real issue was what's at the core of Hank surliness is that he's
02:19:13Had such a great last two weeks that now he can't get excited about anything anymore
02:19:18If it's not him having an all-time life experience Hank will just not be happy at all
02:19:23You've been spoiled the last last two weeks have spoiled you Hank
02:19:27It was literally the first day that he wasn't just winning something
02:19:30It was it was the first day that like I opt out it first day that one of his heroes didn't ask him to come
02:19:34Hang out. Yeah, and he's like this stinks. I'm just hanging out with my co-workers
02:19:38No, I just I'm old and the hangovers hit differently you guys you guys battled through I tried to and I lost the battle
02:19:45But my fire fest was gonna be and it'll probably be in PM TV
02:19:48I think but people probably saw the screenshots in the video
02:19:52max
02:19:54Big cat PFT will and Taylor roughhousing in the pool and like they had max in a chokehold and you guys were trying to defend
02:20:00Him and I was we were all defending each other. He came to my defense. I came to Max's defense
02:20:05Max came to PFT his defense. It was basically like a great
02:20:09Reminder that when the chips are down the boys will have each other's back and I saw the cameras roll and I was kind of
02:20:15You know, I was joking also didn't want to get you know
02:20:18Assaulted and I was like laughing being you know
02:20:20Had my hands on my feet up and then I waited
02:20:22For will to take his hands off of max and as a joke was like hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa
02:20:27To kind of you know, take credit for for helping out and will
02:20:32Was still very hyped up and then just took me and basically waterboarded me for 10 minutes. So I actually got what was coming
02:20:39worse than anyone else
02:20:40My I looked like a ghost a bald ghost
02:20:44Just getting rinsed
02:20:50I
02:21:20Was
02:21:38Max getting fucked up and I also can't chug beers. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, which I love going around. I love having you around
02:21:45Yeah, I was happy
02:21:46But I knew I I was not gonna be able to compete and then I think the most viral clips from the beer games were
02:21:53Me not being able to chug and then meet in will like waterboarding me. Yeah, and those got around I heard her heard back about it
02:22:00It wasn't great. Yeah
02:22:03What did we expect showing up to this because I I don't think we actually expected to win
02:22:07I just want to have you guys thought you're gonna win. No
02:22:09No, I know I want I wanted to compete and I knew that I listen. I'm not a good chugger either
02:22:13There's I can actually beat PFT, but no one saw that I can drink all day
02:22:17Yeah, Max and I would have been third if we were a team. I beat you by I beat you by a second Hank
02:22:23interesting purgers a Jerry
02:22:26Hank I love having you around and and being part of the team because what happens is whenever you
02:22:32Yesterday I joked if if we had a plus-minus for a part of my take you were like a minus 26 and four minutes played
02:22:41I stepped in
02:22:44Returnovers and airballed a shot and then subbed out for the rest of the game
02:22:47It wasn't just that you were having a bad day. You were blaming us for your head
02:22:51What Hank does whenever he gets in that mood? He goes I could have just not come
02:22:59It's our fault we say no I want you here. I love you
02:23:02We we walked into the Joe Burrow interview, which was a body armor shoot and I walked in Hank was behind me
02:23:09We get inside. I noticed that the first thing I noticed about Hank is he's carrying a big water
02:23:13Bottle of a competing sponsor to body was on the bus. I wasn't in the body
02:23:17I wasn't and then we told him about that then he blamed me for not telling him not to bring that in there
02:23:23Well, no, I yelled that and then if you was like, I saw that I was like you didn't say something to me
02:23:27You're like no, I just watch you do it. No, I was in front of you. So yeah, you're still doing it
02:23:32You're still blaming because I got I got I got a stern talking to from one of our co-workers
02:23:37And she was like put that bottle away right now. I was like, oh fuck. I'm so dumb and PFT
02:23:41It's like yeah, I saw that I was like it could have said something. Well, I saw it as you put the bottle away
02:23:47It's again my fault Hank for no. No, it's we should not have brought you on the trip. Yeah, I was I was a minus
02:23:53It's fine
02:23:54Good guy, though
02:23:57Thanks. Oh, hey, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I love Hank
02:24:00I love having around even when he submits a minus 26 and four minutes played
02:24:04I think I was a plus overall on the trip. It's probably close to even
02:24:09Yeah, I mean you getting told that you were that was the other part that we forgot it might be in PM TV
02:24:16Which has a whole trip but Hank was late to the airport on Monday night
02:24:20And he was like I might miss the flight and that was when I found out that Roan was sick and that I offered up
02:24:26Hank services to compete and
02:24:28I deliberately waited till he got to the gate to tell him that he was competing because I know that if I told the one
02:24:34He was in his uber. He would have just
02:24:36Pretended that he didn't make it in time his face dropped
02:24:45He was so mad well, I just and it's true like I had the yak case race
02:24:51I was fucked up for three days after that the parade. I was fucked up still basically going to the airport
02:24:57Yeah, and so I was like it wasn't that I didn't want to play and once I started playing
02:25:00I was having a blast but I was like once you told me like you're in the beer games
02:25:04I just I was not ready for that. Yeah. Yeah, I basically had three of the
02:25:09Most drunk I've ever been in the past like five years in the past week. Yeah
02:25:13No, I was July 4th coming up
02:25:15I was saying to someone I think I drank more beer in the last seven days than I have in like the last two years
02:25:20It's a lot. I think Hank said that he's retiring. He's done drinking effective at the end of July. Is that true?
02:25:27Yeah, it's like I gotta take a break and
02:25:31after July
02:25:35But that's August
02:25:38Labor Day, I know well, usually I wait till September, but it's like we've had a really early start. Yeah, we did
02:25:43You're not gonna have any beer on grit week
02:25:45No, but I need to I like take a break like maybe like a weekend or something. Yeah, take a look
02:25:50Just don't drink on a Saturday. Yeah. Yeah. Okay PFT. Okay. Yeah, my fire fest is also that I stink at chugging
02:25:56But I knew that I stink at chugging
02:25:57I've never been able to chug so I knew that was gonna be a bad category for us
02:26:01But we I feel like me and big cat responded well in some other events three beers is a lot
02:26:05Yeah listeners people. It's it's like golf. It's like everyone's a pro but like
02:26:10Well, no, I mean Max and I are pros. Yeah. Yeah, but three beers is a lot for just a normal person for an average person
02:26:178.19 seconds. Yeah chugging three beers. Oh, yeah. Thank you
02:26:21Are we just passing the torch moment right now? It's Taylor would be throat good. He did in five seconds. Yeah
02:26:27He's hanging out with Jeffery star, yeah, it's insane. So that's one of my fire fest the other is that
02:26:34So it's also airport related we get to the airport on
02:26:38What day was that Monday Monday night to fly out and security is a it's a very long line going through there
02:26:45Usually it's it's pretty smooth. At least if you have clear not to brag pay for a clear subscription
02:26:50It's TSA pre-check on steroids turns out it's actually not because sometimes they shut the clear down and you can't even use that
02:26:57my fire fest is more that I've been meaning to get TSA pre-check for the last 15 years of my life and
02:27:03it involves making an appointment and then going to the appointment usually during business hours and
02:27:09Then you just have to like answer some questions and then they just say okay your now your airport experience is gonna be 20 times
02:27:15Yeah, you're on out and I still haven't done it you guys you guys were living off my TSA pre-check for a while because whenever
02:27:22We booked together you would get it automatically which seems like a really weird leap loophole. Yeah, you're cool
02:27:27That means that all your friends are cool. Yeah. No, it's not necessarily that it's just that usually clear is pretty good
02:27:33Yeah, it's it's not bad
02:27:35But there's you know
02:27:36Two or three times a year where the clear does nothing to help
02:27:39Yeah, or if you go to a specific airport that doesn't have it
02:27:42So I am traveling internationally which is going to be I can already tell that they're probably not gonna have clear in Greece
02:27:48So that will be an issue for me, but it's just about getting pre-check and then going to that appointment
02:27:55It takes like 20 minutes. I know and I've put everything I've ever done. It's you know what? I'm gonna declare right now
02:28:00I'm never gonna do it. Okay, I'm never gonna be a pre-check guy just because I know myself and going to an appointment
02:28:06There's probably an email involved in it too that you have to click on
02:28:09This is just not and you get it and you just have it forever
02:28:12It's just not a good thing shout out to my dad when I lived in Boston. So it was that long ago
02:28:17He got me TSA as like a gift and but the appointment window was like eight to twelve months ahead
02:28:23Yeah, and so I never I never ended up going to it and I've never happened. Okay, so here's
02:28:28But shout out to my dad. Well, he tried he tried he tried. Yeah, he was he was it was a good kind gesture
02:28:34I just didn't I wasn't gonna schedule an interview for 12 months from now. I didn't know what I was doing in a week
02:28:38Yeah, here's the moment. I knew I would never get TSA pre-check right after easier now right after I got to Chicago
02:28:44I went to a place and it's like TSA pre-check while you wait, I drove there walked in the door
02:28:51Talked to the person at the front and they said do you have an appointment?
02:28:55I said, I didn't know that you had to make an appointment. They said yeah you do if you just walk in right now
02:28:59It's about a two and a half hour wait, so I left and at that point that's my shot
02:29:03Yeah, I took my shot at it. Yeah, and I can't do it again. Just not for me. Yeah
02:29:08It is nice having TSA pre-check except for when the only time it sucks is
02:29:13When you have clear and TSA pre-check when they don't have the two separate lines
02:29:19So sometimes I'll show up and you'll do clear and then I'll they'll walk me past everyone in the TSA pre-check line
02:29:27Yeah, I'll cut everyone and that's always a weird you you get yeah, you get the plus
02:29:31Yeah, what usually happens to me after going through clear?
02:29:33They usually take my bag out anyways
02:29:35and then I have like my microphone and a computer in there if I'm going on a
02:29:39Vacation or a trip and I have to have it in case we podcast and then they look at me and they say oh
02:29:44Are you in a band? And then I have to say no, I'm a podcaster. I have to clarify that. Yeah
02:29:50All right, my fire fest is I it's similar to Hanks. I've just my brain is empty
02:29:56it's been a long seven days eight days also, I just I
02:30:02Miss the sphere. I
02:30:04Don't think my life's ever gonna be the same. I got to get back
02:30:07Everything just seems like there's been multiple times where I've just been sitting being like man. I wish I was at the sphere right now
02:30:14It sounds like this fear is quite a trip. It sounds like the sphere is better than real life
02:30:18It's like you you're experiencing the avatar
02:30:20So yes, correct where people go to see avatar and then they get depressed when they leave because the world is an avatar
02:30:24That's exactly how I feel. What if they played avatar in the sphere? It would rock anything would be cool. That'd be heaven
02:30:30Yeah, so, I don't know. It's just it's just not the same life
02:30:34max fire fest
02:30:37I do have one
02:30:39But we don't have to talk about it. Okay, good. That's good podcasting
02:30:44Well, I don't know if we if I do fuck like I don't even do fire fest. Yeah. No you do now
02:30:49Get ready to learn fire fest
02:30:51we've had like a really busy past couple weeks and I was doing a really good job of working out every day and like trying
02:30:56to eat healthy during the week and the past couple weeks I
02:31:00Well, I went you go through some of the footage from beer games, I'm feeling fat like fat as fuck beer games
02:31:06I don't know how it happened
02:31:07But every time I turned around another piece of your Jason Kelsey jersey was gone
02:31:12And the funniest part is that you kept it. Yeah
02:31:15Oh, yeah, you ripped that jersey up to shreds to the point where it's basically like a it was a poncho
02:31:20Yeah, no, I'm not even a poncho. It's just a caddy bit
02:31:23It looked like it looked like a dog got a hold of it and tore it up and you're like fuck it
02:31:27I'm gonna come to hold on to it like
02:31:29But if we ever do the beer games again, I would have to wear it
02:31:32You know what?
02:31:33It looked like it got so bad at the end that it looked like a jersey you would wear because it's your lucky jersey and
02:31:38You're never giving it up. So you're like I have to put this on. I know it looks like shit, but I gotta wear it
02:31:45Yeah
02:31:47Max you also had a moment that we should probably address
02:31:52During beer games where who came up to you and said I can't believe Jason Kelsey got here
02:31:58Who was that was back to your back to your back to your he was in he's the man
02:32:02But he came up to Max and was like wow
02:32:04I thought Jason Kelsey was wasn't gonna be here and Max didn't think he was joking
02:32:09Well, it was the way he worded it. It was the way he worded. Well, how do you word it?
02:32:13He was like, I want you know, it'd be like yo like big fan
02:32:17Like big fan well, that's what he said and he was like, I love what you and your brother are doing
02:32:23I'm like, well, I don't know what that means
02:32:26None of this went through my head and he was like and I was like shit, dude
02:32:29Like why are you I was like, that's crazy that you're coming up to me like a fucking idiot
02:32:34And then I and then he was like, yeah Jason, right? I was like, oh my god
02:32:42You were a fan of myself, which is so
02:32:46And then I just and then I just kept like hitting it like slapping him on the arm
02:32:50I was like, ah, that was a good one
02:32:52I don't know. I I what I turned around and got out of the conversation as quickly as possible because I was so embarrassed
02:32:58Yeah
02:32:58No was striking to me is because there were so many big dudes at beerlympics
02:33:02Just a ton of offensive linemen and they all look like they're in much better shape than us
02:33:06Yeah, so it's like stereotypically you think Oh Lyman you think big fat guys. I feel like that's that's old
02:33:12These guys yeah, like the new age of Oh linemen are all red. They're all in great shape
02:33:17that's the scariest part of going to beer games too because I always just
02:33:22Size is age to me. So like I was talking to a couple guys. Who is it? Zack?
02:33:29Who's the guy in the Eagles now Trevor Keegan Trevor Keegan and Zack who got drafted?
02:33:34I think was it Zack winter that was another thing Michigan men. I got out it as not being a ball knower. Yeah him
02:33:41Yeah, that was very bad
02:33:43but they are
02:33:45They both got drafted. They're both bigger guys because they're offensive linemen and I'm just thinking in my head like you're big
02:33:52You're at least 35. They're like 22. Yeah
02:33:56Like god damn it. Yeah, I felt like I was a different species. It was not Zack winter. I'm thinking of a
02:34:04A
02:34:06Bear what the fuck am I thinking of who is who's the guy who was?
02:34:10All right, we who knows draft picks Michigan draft picks. Who do we talk to you? Who's your guy?
02:34:19Who is your guy the Eagles guy yeah, Trevor Keegan Trevor Keegan, Michigan awesome, dude
02:34:26He was like you're such a big you're such a big Eagles fan. Who am I Trevor Keegan? Awesome, dude, and
02:34:31I want to shout out the other guy because I'm fucking this Oh Zack zinter
02:34:36Yes, Zack zinter also awesome dude plays for the Browns now. They're both like 23 years old
02:34:41Large humans and they could kick our ass in beer games and in life
02:34:46We got to get back to Ari on though. He is that he is the guy I love
02:34:50I he was the fact that he got max in a blender like that was awesome. Mm-hmm. Okay?
