00:11is the path to promote tourism in the country.

00:22This is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said at the 36th Joint Meeting of the United Nations Tourism Commission

00:29for East Asia and the Pacific and the UN Tourism Commission for South Asia,

00:33where the Philippines is the host.

00:35This is part of the continuous strengthening of the government's tourism in the country.

00:39According to the President, sustainability should be the focus

00:42as part of the issue of climate change and maintenance of resources such as the natural resources that we have.

00:47Because of this, the coordination of the government in the private sector continues to implement reforms

00:52so that more tourists can visit the country.

00:55These include measures such as easing visa access,

00:58enhancing water sanitation and healthcare facilities in tourist destinations,

01:04improving connectivity hubs such as airports.

01:07By adopting these practices, we create a tourism industry that not only creates responsible visitors

01:14but also uplifts the lives of those who are part of that activity.

01:19Based on the DUT data in 2023,

01:238.6% or 2.09 trillion pesos of the tourism sector contributed to the gross domestic product of the country.

01:31According to the President, this is the most important thing for many to feel the change in their lives.

01:37Under the current administration, according to Tourism Secretary Frasco,

01:41its goal is to become a tourism powerhouse in Asia, the Philippines.

01:44This was articulated as a strategic goal from the very beginning

01:48to showcase the country's natural beauty.

01:51Its cultural richness and economic potential to the world.

01:55This vision aims to attract more tourists, more investments, more visitor receipts

02:02and overall to stimulate economic growth to provide livelihood and employment to our fellow Filipinos.

02:08For UN Tourism, this will not be their last collaboration in our country.

02:13We need more international presence, we need more international companies, we need investments.

02:18Investments, I know that you are focused a lot on investments.

02:21We need to attract more investments, more foreign direct investments in this beautiful country.

02:28And yes, the Philippines has two important things that tourists need.

02:32First is to have peace and to feel the love of a country.

02:37With the help of natural assets, according to UN Tourism,

02:40it will help to attract more visitors to get to know the Philippines.
