00:00After winning the General Election in 2018, Dr Mahathir Mohamad handed over his financial portfolio to Lim Guan Eng to fund DAP, according to a new book.

00:13Namoh Mahathir has issued a ministerial order to government-related companies to protect the Malay hegemony,

00:21according to the book titled Shattered Hopes.

00:25Booth said Mahathir faces difficulties with parties such as DAP and with certain requests, such as the request to make Lim Kee Siang as the Speaker of the People's Assembly.

00:36He said Mahathir knows he needs to work with DAP, but that doesn't mean he will give significant power to the party led by the Chinese people.

00:47After conferring financial power to the GLC sector, which is powerful and profitable, the former Prime Minister gave this control to the Minister of Finance at the time, Azmin Ali.

01:00The National Berhad treasury and the National Berhad capital were then placed under the Prime Minister's office, with Mahathir becoming the treasury manager.

01:09All other GLCs were placed under Azmin's administration.

01:13As a result, Guan Eng has limited control over his own ministry.

01:18As admitted by Mahathir in a meeting with Malaysia Kinit, plus Booth.
