00:00The energy minister under pressure after a damning report into the cause of the
00:07Kallide power station explosion. We might just jump straight into question
00:11shall we? In 2021 a power unit at the facility exploded causing mass blackouts
00:17but a draft report by Dr. Sean Brady released earlier this week highlighted a
00:23maintenance backlog. The minister today claimed he was given the wrong advice by
00:28former CS Energy executives. What I was told was that all of the statutory and
00:36other maintenance that was required to be done was done. The CEO and the chair
00:39told me that repeatedly. The advice you were given was not true. Well I think I
00:43think it was incorrect. Senior Labor figure and former Brisbane Lord Mayor
00:47Jim Soorley resigned as chair of CS Energy last year after eight years in
00:53the job. Andrew Bills also departed last year after serving as the CEO. In light
00:59of Mr. Debrenny's claims the ABC contacted both for comment. Mr. Soorley
01:05declined while a spokeswoman for Mr. Bills directed the ABC to CS Energy
01:11which also declined to comment. The opposition says the energy minister
01:17should be held to account for his comments. It's our strong view that the
01:21actions of Minister Debrenny in misleading the Parliament should be
01:26looked at by Parliament's powerful Ethics Committee.
