00:00Hey guys, another video for our Cute Stuff in Japan playlist.
00:04It's quite common in Japan for business owners to have little caricatures of themselves in
00:10their promotional material.
00:13So usually they make some character that's slightly flattering and then is very sort
00:19of cute and friendly and non-threatening.
00:24So we actually do know a couple of the people that you're going to see the caricatures of
00:29and it's sort of interesting because you can recognize them, you go, oh yeah, I know him.
00:33But obviously it's a sort of a cartoon version.
00:42So it's cool, there's two in the same frame there.
00:45Sort of competing with each other, no, come to me, I'm more friendly.
00:51Would you trust this man?
00:54Some sort of housing company, real estate guy, interesting, isn't it?
01:02And pharmacy, there's the pharmacist, bit of Japanglish there too, prescription reception
01:14desk.
01:15You can get your prescriptions filled there.
01:19This guy, look at this guy, usually they sort of look happy and friendly, look at that guy,
01:23he looks a bit troubled.
01:25It's actually a pawn shop, you can see there at the bottom.
01:31They should have turned that frown upside down.
01:34Clinics, really common doctors and dentists and medical professionals.
01:38You know, I'm not scary, come to my clinic, I'm not scary at all.
01:43Oh, this is one of our favorites, this is a plumber, check him out.
01:48If you had some plumbing problem, you'd be keen to call him, wouldn't you?
01:51He looks like the guy for the job.
01:53Oh, this is a funny one, there's the medical professional in the middle there, with all
02:01these Disney characters around him for some strange reason.
02:04Not scary for kids.
02:05Oh, that's the leader of North Korea, advertising in Japan, no, it's not really, don't know
02:10who that is, just some dude.
02:13Looks like the leader of North Korea, doesn't it?
02:16Don't know who that is, some nobody.
02:20Anyway, that was that, characterizations in Japan.
