00:00In a UK premiere, an immersive show which brings the masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh
00:05to life in a multimedia experience has opened at Exhibition Centre Liverpool.
00:10You know, I think what happens, you go in there and you just come out calm.
00:14It's like you, yeah, you just come out feeling calm.
00:17Beyond Van Gogh, the immersive experience, produced by Anirin Productions and Paquin Entertainment Group,
00:22blends more than 300 of the post-impressionist icon's paintings with cutting-edge technology
00:28and a specially curated musical soundtrack to tell the story of one of history's most influential artists.
00:34The music that we have in there lends itself to the imagery and it just gives you that sense of peace, I guess, you know,
00:40and that's what's neat about it.
00:42The artist's paintings are liberated from their two-dimensional realms
00:45and rendered into three-dimensional, fully immersive scenes that swirl and flow with colour and movement.
00:51Visitors can wander through iconic works as they come alive around you,
00:55including the starry night, sunflowers and terrace of a cafe at night.
00:59I mean, poor Vincent wasn't exactly a peaceful guy and that's the sad part about it.
01:04You know, I wouldn't say there's a lot of smiling pictures in there, you know,
01:07but hopefully he would be happy with where this has gone and how it's kept it going and what it's done to people.
01:14It is really a mind-blower when you experience it.
01:16The production company behind the experience chose Liverpool for the premiere
01:20after having had previous experience of the city through its Broadway and West End Beatles musical, Let It Be.
01:261964, I was nine years old and got my first Beatles record and got hooked and as I grew up, you know,
01:32they grew up and it got me in the music business.
01:35There's also a chance to take part in a special Saturday morning yoga session inside the exhibition itself.
01:41There's like a hundred projectors in the air so you don't even see them.
01:43They're like, you know, the fine-toothed type of thing, so that's a neat thing.
01:47You don't really see any projection but it's there and combining that technology with that ability.
01:52Having already been seen by more than five million people across the United States and Canada,
01:56the show runs until Wednesday 24th of July.
