00:00With regard to the presidential debate, I expect that question is going to come up about
00:05this.
00:06Look, like many, I look forward to hearing Donald Trump lay out his vision for the country.
00:10It's a positive vision.
00:12It's a forward vision.
00:13He is excited.
00:14I talked to him, spent a lot of time with him last week down in Mar-a-Lago and then
00:18on the phone over the weekend, and he's in a very good place.
00:21And I expect that you're going to see a sharp contrast between President Trump's positive
00:26agenda and Joe Biden's proven weakness.
00:30And I did a lot of media over the last several days, and everybody wants to know which Joe
00:36Biden is going to show up.
00:37Look, my summary is this.
00:39It doesn't matter if he drinks a whole gallon of energy drinks.
00:41He's not going to be able to match the acumen and the readiness of Donald Trump.
00:46And that's what we expect.
00:48Even if it's a three-on-one situation, I mean, obviously, the CNN moderators have shown an
00:52open disdain for President Trump.
00:54Everybody's seen the tapes rolling of all their comments, so we know it's not a fair
00:57fight.
00:58But Biden's still going to have to address America's concerns about his policies of high
01:02inflation and open borders and appeasement of our adversaries.
01:05Those are things that are on the hearts and minds of every American.
01:08And I know he's spending all week to prepare for it, but I guess that's how much time it
01:11takes to figure out how to defend that disastrous record.
01:14Good luck with that.
01:15So Thursday night will be an interesting thing.
01:18Next Thursday is an important anniversary.
01:19I'll just close with that, and then we'll take your questions.
01:22But members are going to be working in their districts, and we want you all to have a blessed
01:264th of July celebration.
01:28On Thursday next week, we turn 248 years old as a nation.
01:32And if you're a high school civic student, that seems like an eternity.
01:36But for all of us, we know that's really a short amount of time in the span of human history.
01:40We live in the greatest country in the history of the world.
01:42It's the strongest, most powerful, most free, most benevolent.
01:44It's not even close.
01:46And it's still an experiment is what we have to remember.
01:48It's an experiment in self-governance.
01:50We don't know how long it's going to last.
01:51But it falls upon the people here and those duly elected representatives in the Congress
01:57to preserve and keep that republic.
02:00We're serious about that.
02:01And the weight of it would be heavy.
02:03The burden would be great if we did not have great faith that we're going to be able to
02:06do this.
02:07And we will.
02:08Steve, let me let our majority leader say a word here, and then I'll take questions.
