On Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, under the relentless heat exceeding 40° C, I found myself once again drenched in sweat and tormented by incessant insect bites. The unbearable conditions necessitated another cold water shower, utilizing the water tap across the street from the UNHCR building. Completing the arduous task of manually washing my clothes, despite lacking shampoo and on an empty stomach, underscored the harsh reality of my existence.
This day poignantly marked the two-month anniversary since the demolition of my seventh shelter—a bitter testament to the relentless adversity I have faced. The cold water offered brief respite though failed to cleanse my hair and body adequately, as the scant remnants of shampoo could not suffice. Desperation led me to pour water into the nearly empty container, attempting to extract any remaining efficacy. The operation yielded minimal results, leaving me with no shampoo and no means to procure more, should my dire need for another shower arise.
Returning to my Banner’s position, I draped my washed clothes to dry, their feeble state mirroring my own struggle beneath the unyielding sun. Despite the adversity, I resumed my unending work outside the UNHCR office, tethered by a dwindling reserve of energy and gnawing hunger. Hanging my clothes on the tree and the rope securing my Banner symbolized a fragile lifeline in this harsh environment.
Each passing moment underscored the severity of my plight and the urgent necessity of continued support. Your assistance remains vital; act now to help alleviate this relentless suffering.

00:00Hello everyone, it's Astrid of Europe. I'm Bernadette Ferri. Today is Sunday, June 23rd, 2024.
00:10Exactly two months from my seventh shelter's demolition outside the UNHCR's office.
00:20It has passed today. You see pictures of my previous shelters over my banner.
00:31Three other times they have destroyed my shelter. I don't have the pictures of those here.
00:40Nevertheless, my dire situation on the dirty pavement outside this UN agency continues.
00:48My blanket is really dirty. That's the entrance of this UN agency, UNHCR.
01:00I continue to remain without food, hungry every day, starving, severely starving, not just simply starving.
01:11And all my clothes again are dirty, itching, insect bites, won't let me have any rest.
01:23And it's really hot, over 40 degrees Celsius.
01:29The other week I took a quick shower and washed my clothes over there during the night.
01:37But I think they need washing again and a quick shower.
01:45So I will now go there to see if I can manage to wash my clothes and do a quick body wash and see how that goes.
01:58That's the water tap over there.
02:02And on the other side, there you see my belongings and the entrance of the UNHCR.
02:14So, the water might be cold.
02:22But I have no choice.
02:27I have to do this cleaning again.
02:31But I am now doing it well.
02:35There are still daylights available, so I would also have a better, more quality recording of the situation here.
02:48And see how long it takes and how it goes.
03:34It's really cold.
03:39It's really cold.
04:04It's really cold.
04:34It's really cold.
05:04It's really cold.
05:17It's really cold.
05:34It's really cold.
05:37It's really cold.
05:40It's really cold.
05:43It's really cold.
05:46It's really cold.
05:49It's really cold.
05:52It's really cold.
05:55It's really cold.
05:58It's really cold.
06:00It's really cold.
06:06This was for my cold shower.
06:10Empty stomach without shampoo.
06:15It had so little in it.
06:19I had to put water and put it on myself. You saw it already.
06:24And I have to now throw this.
06:28Take my clothes, return to the other side and get back to work.
06:36I have a lot of work, a ton of work.
06:39All the time.
06:43And I don't know for how long is it.
06:51This is going to go on.
06:54And this is just beyond, beyond tolerable.
07:00Beyond tolerable.
07:03So, coming back beside my banner, I hang my clothes on the tree and some other on the roof.
07:32With which I tie my banner to the tree.
07:37This place literally is like inferno.
07:41No help coming from anywhere.
07:45Very, very horrible people.
07:48And I'm starving, truly starving every day.
07:54With little to no help coming from anywhere.
07:59And in the face of this ongoing atrocity,
08:05I once again call upon everybody who is watching this video
08:11to kindly go and sign my petition at change.org.au
08:18You can also make a donation at gowithfunding.com.au
08:25Europe, subscribe to this channel.
08:30Like, share, post a comment, share this video.
08:34And any other help would be greatly appreciated.
08:37Particularly food, decent food and monetary donations.
08:45Any other help would be greatly appreciated.
08:48Like, if you are a Greek citizen, calling Greek officials to come to the UN, attend to this issue.
08:58If you aren't, you can send emails to the Greek Ministry for Migration,
09:03the Prime Minister's office, etc.
09:09Or even to the UNHCR to attend to this situation.
09:17End my captivity in this country and let me go.
09:24Any other help that you can provide, like organizing a demonstration here,
09:30anything else would be greatly appreciated.
09:34That would be it. Take care. Bye.
