00:00And these two are two of the finest professional wrestlers to come out of the great country
00:09of Canada.
00:11We saw a little bit of that North country respect that they were, they almost reminiscent
00:16of team Canada in their entire back and against all odds, but now once again, find themselves
00:22on opposite sides of the ring.
00:30Two of the very best to ever do it, two TNA legends and on that note, we'd like to take
00:35this time to acknowledge the late great TNA Hall of Famer, Don West.
00:40Today we celebrate the anniversary of his birthday and especially Don was born right
00:45here in Chicago.
00:46It was in this building last October at Bound for Glory.
00:51His broadcast partner, the professor Mike TNA accepted their dual enshrinement into
00:56the TNA Hall of Fame tonight.
00:59This one is for Don.
01:01We wouldn't be where we are if they didn't sit where they sat, just like many in this
01:07business, just like what these two in the ring are doing for the generation that will
01:11come after them.
01:12Two of the finest wrestlers in the game today, putting it all out there.
01:17Two men who main evented Slammiversary 2022 against each other, battling then for Josh
01:24Alexander's TNA World Championship.
01:27At the time, it was Eric Young who was leading violent by design.
01:31They tore apart the ring that night.
01:34It was brutal.
01:35I was going to say, I'm glad you brought that up because yeah, the last time these two fought
01:39for that gold, it got down and dirty and nasty.
01:43The ring was everywhere.
01:45The wood underneath was exposed.
01:48There was blood.
01:49There was mayhem.
01:50And don't tell me, I know Eric Young is a man who's constantly evolving, but don't tell
01:55me there's not a little bit of that left.
01:58Back elbow there by Young.
01:59We're just getting started.
02:01Alexander versus Young.
02:02Who will qualify for a TNA World title shot at Slammiversary?
02:06This match continues.
02:07Picture in picture.
02:09Now, right here, Alexander getting pinned, quick kick out there.
02:14Eric Young here taking an early advantage in this qualifying matchup for the six-way
02:19elimination title match at Slammiversary.
02:21Shot right to the side of the head.
02:32Alexander looks like he wants to respond here in kind.
02:36I talk about it all the time.
02:38You can shake hands.
02:39You can hug in the back.
02:40You can say your sorry's before the bell, but once this match starts, especially given
02:46what's on the line.
02:47Cover, shoulders down and a kick out by Alexander.
02:50All bets are off considering what these two are both capable of.
02:55This could go any number of ways.
02:57What a chance it would be for either of these two men to compete for the TNA World Championship
03:02in their home country of Canada.
03:03On top of that, our first time ever performing live on television in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
03:10at the famed Verdun Auditorium.
03:12Hope you've been studying your French, Hannifin.
03:17Oui.
03:18It's a hell of a start.
03:20Learning a lot after the date we saw earlier on tonight between Steph Dillander and PCO.
03:25No kidding.
03:27Big, big right hand there by Eric Young.
03:31And listen, the experience, that edge goes to Eric Young.
03:37No doubt about that.
03:38Alexander's those slouch, belly to back suplex.
03:41You saw that one big right.
03:44That put Alexander on wobbly legs, headgear or not.
03:49This one has already tilted back and forth a couple of times.
03:53Now stepping through, thinking about a sharpshooter perhaps, we talked about the Canadian roots
03:58between these two and Alexander paying homage to the hitman here with a sharpshooter on
04:04Young.
04:05And what a way to secure your ticket to Slammiversary.
04:08This would be a little bit of poetic justice.
04:12And Young, Young was trying to scramble to the bottom rope there to get away from the
04:17submission, but he's caught center of the ring.
04:19Page brings the volley all over it.
04:22That's a nasty place to be for EY there.
04:28He's got to use all his upper body strength to drag himself and the walking weapon.
04:34Oh, Young was running into the bottom rope, Alexander holding on to this submission here.
04:40Oh, and finally, look at this EY, EY able to break out of it, trying to set up a submission
04:45of his own, going for his own sharpshooter.
04:48Look at this.
04:49That was brilliant.
04:50Brilliant.
04:51You saw the way Eric Young picked the ankle there of Josh Alexander, didn't see it coming.
04:57And Alexander gets the bottom rope, breaks up the sharpshooter.
05:01That's another example of how evenly matched these world champion caliber athletes are
05:07as they compete for a spot in that title match at Slammiversary.
05:15We are back here on TNA Impact.
05:17This is a road to Slammiversary qualifying matchup.
05:21It's Eric Young up against Josh Alexander.
05:23One of these two men will move on to the six-way elimination match for the TNA World Championship.
05:30We'll see on Saturday, July 20th, live on pay-per-view and TNA plus at Slammiversary
05:35in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Moose must defend against five other competitors.
05:42These qualifying matches will play out over the next number of weeks, and it was curious
05:46earlier on tonight, Raewal, when this was announced by Santina Morella, Moose was smiling
05:52at the thought of a six-way elimination match.
05:55That is the level of confidence of the TNA World Champion.
06:00You heard him.
06:01He is unbeatable, and who could blame him for feeling that way as of late?
06:07Alexander able to roll through, oh, knee right to the back of the head.
06:11Young is down.
06:12Here's the cover, shoulders pressed down, and a kick out there by Young.
06:18Young and Alexander were tag team partners just this past weekend, and against all odds,
06:24their miscommunication down the stretch led to a victory for the ABC.
06:28Now, if there was any frustration, they had to take it out here in a pathway to Slammiversary.
06:41Now Josh Alexander shades of the TNA Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle with the German suplexes.
06:50Alexander blocked the lariat, kicking the arm.
06:53EY with the counter.
06:54Oh, dumped him with the Death Valley Driver.
06:57Is it enough to move on to Slammiversary?
06:59And a kick out there by Alexander.
07:03And EY, he's not wasting any time either.
07:06After that kick out, already scaling to the top rope.
07:10Wow, rushed at Eric Young.
07:14Big right forearm there by Alexander, puts Young on the apron, and look out.
07:21Here goes Alexander!
07:25Flying right through Eric Young.
07:32There's a reason they call him the standard of TNA wrestling.
07:36Josh Alexander has main-evented the last three consecutive Bound for Glory events.
07:42That is only exceeded by Sting, the TNA Hall of Famer, who main-evented four straight between
07:502006 and 2009.
07:53Off the top rope for a moonsault!
07:56Flashbacks to their battle at Slammiversary in 2022.
08:01Josh Alexander pulling out all the stops to punch his ticket to Slammiversary.
08:10Wow, now rushing at Eric Young.
08:14Young, more than willing to answer back.
08:18And look out!
08:19Elbow drop!
08:21Young into the cover, hooked to the inside leg!
08:24And a kick out by Alexander.
08:27Yeah, we gotta take another look at this, Tom.
08:31Watch EY all the way from the top rope, elbow to the heart of Josh Alexander.
08:37But the walking weapon stays in the game.
08:40Young, who earlier this year challenged Moose for the TNA World Championship at Sacrifice
08:46in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was dashed by Frankie Kazarian that night.
08:51And now he's going for a pile driver here on Josh Alexander.
08:57That world title means so much to both these competitors, to both these guys here.
09:04On Alexander!
09:05Alexander going to the ankle!
09:08Alexander going to the ankle lock!
09:10Ankle lock on Young!
09:12That's tied in now.
09:14The second major submission locked in, and look!
09:17Young able to turn it around.
09:20Going for the Young Blood Neckbreaker, and he got it!
09:24But Alexander was getting back up through his feet, trying to follow up, and a pile driver by Young!
09:30Is that it?
09:31Is EY going to Slammiversary?
09:34And Alexander gets his foot on the bottom rope.
09:37The match continues.
09:43Take a look back here at the Young Blood Neckbreaker, deep into the bag of tricks there for Young.
09:49And then the pile driver, which few men have ever kicked out of against Eric Young.
09:54Josh Alexander, great ring awareness, getting his foot on the bottom rope.
09:59And the match continues.
10:02You talk about people being tied to you, but Josh Alexander didn't kick out of it there.
10:07I mean, using whatever energy he had left to get his foot there, but that shows you also the amount of punishment the walking weapon has taken.
10:16Are you kidding me?
10:17Look!
10:18Going all the way to the top.
10:19What the hell?
10:20He's singing about a pile driver from off the top turnbuckle!
10:24Now Alexander ripping Young down to the canvas in the ankle lock!
10:29Beautiful counter there by Josh Alexander.
10:33The awareness to turn on a dime and grasp the ankle again.
10:37Oh, Young trying to catch Alexander, shoulders down.
10:40Oh, and a kick out by the walking weapon!
10:42It's both these guys trying to catch each other off guard.
10:46Huge discus clothesline by Young.
10:50Alexander nearly going inside out there.
10:52Here we go again.
10:53Think about another pile driver on that twice surgically repaired neck of Josh Alexander's.
10:59Oh, it's caught.
11:00Caught by Alexander in a forearm shiver!
11:04Once again!
11:05Snaps off a German suplex, and the walking weapon is fired up!
11:11How Alexander trying to end this thing!
11:14Going for the C4 spike!
11:17Cover!
11:20Alexander is going to Slammiversary!
11:24Here is your winner, Josh Alexander!
11:30The walking weapon finds himself one step closer to reclaiming the title that has meant everything to him.
11:40Let's take a look back at the conclusion of this matchup.
11:43Eric Young fired off some big time shots in this, but it was the C4 spike by Alexander that sealed the deal.
11:52Josh Alexander joins the field for the six-way elimination match for the TNA World Championship.
12:01Live on July 20th in Montreal at Slammiversary.
12:10Two of the best to come out of Canada.
12:13Two of the best to ever represent the letters T-N-A.
12:22T-N-A World Championship
12:25T-N-A World Championship
