08:12Humanoid figure created on the something awful forum slender man proved an incredibly successful

08:17Creepypasta and later became the subject of some popular video games

08:22Slender man is the modern-day boogeyman

08:27Because it's faceless because it's quiet because it doesn't speak words is open to a lot of interpretation

08:35Unfortunately, this story led to a tragic stabbing in 2014

08:39Which saw two girls harming another in order to appease the fictional monster

08:43luckily the victims survive HBO's beware the slender man details this tragic story and examines how both

08:49Folklore and internet fun can often have very real and very dangerous consequences

08:57Number two John was trying to contact aliens and I'll start it up

09:08And we'll start generating sometimes paranormal documentaries reveal compelling things about the human condition

09:14This is certainly the case with Netflix's John was trying to contact aliens

09:18The John in question is John Shepard a man who spent three decades

09:21Broadcasting music into space in the hopes of making contact with

09:25extraterrestrial life-forms

09:27I started building the electronic equipment to make contact with whatever might be out there beyond the earth

09:34Usually these types of stories present the protagonist as aloof and obsessive

09:39But this doc proves quite the opposite

09:41It is very tender in his depiction of Shepard his motives and his emotional journey running a very swift 16 minutes

09:48There is no excuse for skipping this one

09:50especially if you're a fan of aliens and how they shape our earthly culture to find someone that is on the

09:55Wavelength that I am on and be able to share my life with that person in any degree or way is nearly impossible
