00:15Mela Lasmora with the report. Rise and shine, Mela.
00:20The Leader of the House of Representatives is confident that the people of the country will feel the cheaper price of rice in the market by the end of July.
00:29In the help of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, along with other lawmakers,
00:33some rice stakeholders promised the Traders' Group of PRISM, the Philippine Rice Industry Stakeholders' Movement,
00:40that in the next month, the price of rice will be between P42 to P49 per kilo,
00:46a dollar less than the current price.
00:50For well-milled rice and premium rice, which are among the rice to be sold in the family,
00:55this is the expected price of the group.
00:58This is also in line with the Executive Order No. 62 of the Malacanang,
01:03which is lowering the price of imported rice in the country to lower the price of rice in the market.
01:08Congressmen thanked the rice traders for their promise,
01:13while also cheering that the EO62 will not be anti-agriculture,
01:17especially since the government continues to promote their rights.
01:22The farmers are our top priority, that's why we continue to support them.
01:29The baseline is P22 billion, but there are other added forms of support and subsidies for the farmers' group.
01:35For 2024, the support of RCEF is guaranteed for our farmers.
01:43Again, we are in the middle of the RTL amendment.
01:48For 2025, assuming that we will need P15 billion to finance the RCEF fund for next year,
01:58currently, we are at P22 billion as stated by the Bureau of Customs.
02:05Just to remind you, it's still June, so even though there is still a tariff,
02:11there is a 15% tariff, which means that the collection for this year will increase.
02:16So our farmers will not be neglected.
02:19Aside from this, the camera also captured the steps of the government
02:23for the improvement of the agricultural sector through the whole-of-government approach.
02:28They have already allocated the funds for this.
02:31We have this program of convergence.
02:35With the DA, with the NIA, with the DPWH,
02:39we will align our funding allocations for flood control programs with irrigation.
02:48Our farmers do not need to worry about the aid to heavy equipment,
02:57to PILMEC, to rice mills, and to tractors.
03:03All of these will be fully secured for next year, 2025.
03:08In the next few months, Speaker Romualdez hopes that the price of rice in the market will be lowered,
03:14as well as other purchases in the country, with the help of the steps of the government.
03:19In the next few months, the Congress will also return to session.
03:23It is expected that the discussion on this important issue will continue.
