00:00Before asking a question and if you can introduce yourself with your publication, that would be great. So we'll take the first question
00:07Hi Corey Z with Crick exec
00:10Obviously the last two defeats were were rough
00:15But looking ahead to 2026 when you know, you'll be back
00:20What have you learned from the last two matches in particular about?
00:26Where what holes the team needs to fill where the team needs to improve in order to compete just as much if not more
00:34In the next World Cup, I mean, there's probably a lot of areas that we need to improve in
00:39You know, we are still an associate nation growing trying to get a bigger player pool
00:45You know making it through the super eights was obviously a historic occasion for the USA
00:50But we did want to show that we were worthy of being in that super eight
00:53And I thought the first gaming in South Africa. We did a really good job. The last couple of games have just been not quite there
00:59But that's what happens in these super eight
01:01You know comps is that the bigger boys start to really show up
01:05And they're kind of hitting their stride right at the back end of this comp and you know
01:09The more we've played as well the more footage they have on us. We're a little bit unknown coming into the comp
01:14And that's kind of part of cricket, you know, as soon as you get seen and you do a couple of things
01:19Everyone starts circling and wondering what's going on. How do we get him out? Where are the weaknesses?
01:23Where are the strengths? And I think the guys have probably found
01:26Probably found wanting a little bit in that regard
01:29But again, it's a great learning. We don't we don't get to play against these big teams
01:33often or at all
01:35So anything that we can play against these guys is hugely valuable again moving into another two-year cycle of playing the World Cup
01:41In India, I think that's going to be extremely helpful to look back. It's probably a little bit raw at the moment obviously, but
01:48Yeah, there's there's heaps of learnings out of that
01:54Hi Corey Smith particular from Crickbus
01:57You had a terrific MLC last year and are also the senior most player on the team
02:02in light of that, how do you evaluate your performance on the field this World Cup and
02:07Second question would be also will you be looking to make yourself available for the 50 over form at starting in August?
02:13I guess I'll answer the first part of that. My performance has been lackluster for what I expected myself
02:19I think as a team we did a fantastic job to get to where we were and we had different guys stepping up at different
02:25Times, unfortunately, I couldn't chime in and help when we probably the wheels for falling off a little bit
02:31But again, that's cricket. It's it's you know, it's a short comp in the whole scheme of things and
02:36And you get caught up sort of found on the hop a little bit caught on the hop and it can sort of go a little
02:41Bit pear-shaped so it's probably showing a little bit of a glimpse today
02:45But again, it was probably just a little too late as well
02:47In terms of availability, I mean that's something I'll have to sit down with USA cricket and figure out
02:52We need to go through the schedule and look at what's happening. Obviously major league is the next thing up
02:56So I'm more focused on the next month of cricket once we have a little bit of a probably a couple of days break from
03:02this
03:03Corey Roger Sherman DQ
03:06What's the feeling in the team? Obviously, you know, you don't want to no one likes moral victories
03:11But you accomplished a lot but at the end like you said things kind of didn't
03:16Didn't go your way. Well, how are people feeling within the team?
03:19Look, they're disappointed that they hurt, you know, I'm I'm hurt
03:23your pride is always on the line when you play in these games and you never want to
03:27Lose badly or have sort of a you know performances like that. But again, it's it's looking at the bigger picture of it, too
03:35if we're a team and we first started and and we're beginning to be disappointed about how we play against these big teams and
03:42Knowing that we can do better. That's a great sign because it means we can give more
03:47You know, and I think the public's perception and expectation of us is probably very much still that we're an associate nation
03:53And yes, we are but we've got extremely good talent in the u.s
03:57And this was a massive stepping stone and showing that
04:01So I think you know, the boys can hold their heads high and be proud of what they've done
04:05Because again, I think we've probably
04:08Turned the world's attention to the u.s
04:10For them to say we're here to play
04:13Corey Peter no panel the dream cricket you use the word lackluster to describe your performance
04:19Today's innings 29 off 28 balls was kind of symbolic of the tournament as a whole
04:22You your strike rate was under a run of all for the whole tournament and a lot of people a lot of fans kept on
04:27Asking me and other people here
04:29What's going on with Corey Anderson?
04:31Why is he approaching his innings this way and there seemed to be a lot of confusion and I'm just curious for your perspective
04:37What was communicated to you in terms of what your role expectations were
04:41Supposed to be in this tournament. And did you feel you had clarity in terms of
04:46Receiving that and how you went about trying to carry it out. Yeah, I was definitely clear on what I needed to do
04:51Played enough cricket and ugly and big enough to figure it out on my own as well
04:55I think being the senior player in the team as well. He's played, you know, I guess the most international cricket here
05:02It's probably my role to try and get a little bit of calmness in that group
05:05Unfortunately, there was times where we lost a couple of wickets quickly and you kind of need to consolidate but again, it's on me
05:11I needed to play better than what I did and there was probably opportunities that I missed out on
05:15But again, it's kind of how it goes
05:16It's just sometimes you you strike while the iron's hot when you do and when it's going not your way
05:21It's sort of lingers around a little bit and you don't quite you don't quite get those performances that you're after
05:27Again, like I said earlier today was I was probably close to it felt much better today
05:31But couldn't quite capitalize and probably needed a handful of others to go go with us as well
05:36But it is what it is
05:37You know, there's plenty of boys in this comp who have probably disappointed and how they've gone
05:41But you know as a team, I think we've done, you know
05:45Extremely well for what people were expecting of us and I know our bar is now being raised in terms of what we know
05:51We're capable of as well. So again, it comes back to what the team has been doing and yeah
05:55I'm extremely proud of what this team has done this World Cup
05:58Corey it's the question you guys get asked every time but now it's come to the end of the tournament and it's all over
06:05What is the hope of what this can do for cricket in America?
06:08I mean the sky's the limit really, you know, we've had obviously
06:13the last few years has always been
06:15whispers around what's happening in America with cricket and obviously we saw Major League last year and
06:20We've had a lot more guys become eligible to play for the USA and that's been able to grow the player pool
06:26And you've seen some of the talent on show here today and what we can offer and hopefully in you know
06:31Years to come as well. We can kind of grow that
06:34And it will take a bit of time before we can try and do it organically
06:37I know there's a few guys from different countries and stuff and
06:40you know, it is what it is, but
06:42We're trying to make the most of our opportunities in these big competitions and you know
06:46Any bilateral series that we get ideally we can get some bigger countries coming across and they're just going to be learning experiences for guys
06:53You know Major League next month's obviously going to be a big big thing again for for American cricket
06:58Yeah, and hopefully that can be another another successful campaign. Last two questions, please. Yeah Corey
07:03So, you know you mentioned earlier that in the Super 8s you're playing the big boys who are hitting their stride
07:11The last two games especially but you know back in in the group stages
07:16You beat Pakistan and you held your own against India, right?
07:20Saurabh took two incredible wickets of their top two stars
07:24Who are you know, they're just as good as England and West Indies
07:28In terms of comparing those two matches in these two matches. How much did the home field advantage in the US?
07:37Sort of impact the performance you think versus being here in the Caribbean a decent amount
07:42I think Dallas was the one that we were probably is more of our home ground
07:45I think New York's been obviously placed in and no one's really played there
07:49So we were probably unsure of how that was going to play and I think everyone sort of turned out to see what what that
07:53looked like
07:55but I think yeah again a huge positive from that Pakistan game originally is you know, normally when an associate beats a
08:02Test playing nation that the test playing nation has lost the game and something's gone wrong
08:06But in that regard we we were in control for 90% of that game and we actually beat them
08:11So I think that was a huge tick in the box for knowing that we can actually take on these guys and probably went
08:16To a super over which we didn't really need it to go to a super over but it was fine
08:19But then again playing the in playing the Indian team that obviously a fantastic team
08:23That wicked up in New York was slightly dicey and it probably even the playing field a little bit
08:27But again the way the guys fought they didn't really back down from who they were playing against
08:32You know, that's the thing we can be proud of and I know teams are you know
08:37Curious around how we go about our stuff
08:39And I think that puts us in good stead to know that we can try and fight and the last couple of games probably
08:44Weren't quite characteristic of us and I know we want to be a team that's you know
08:48America's proud of supporting and and we can fight to the end and boys are still trying but again
08:53Sometimes the game gets away and you know days like that happen
08:59So a lot of your success last year at MLC came at number four probably
09:03You had a lot more overs to come in take stock of the situation and then accelerate
09:08But did but do you think this time around?
09:10In this role of yours at USA cricket the team management kind of shackled more responsibility on you and kind of
09:18Held you back at times as well. No, no, I disagree with that
09:23Again, I bet myself to be in those situations regardless of what it is
09:27And I bet the teammates that I've got around me books and great talent in our team
09:31Who can who can wave that US flag pretty strongly and I think we've seen we've seen evidence of that in this World Cup
09:36You know major leagues
09:38It's a franchise competition
09:40There's some you know
09:41You have slightly stronger players and slightly weaker players playing and amongst it when you get to a World Cup
09:46You're on the biggest platform
09:47It's hard to kind of find the chinks in the armor of some of the big boys
09:50But no, I don't feel like I was restricted in any way
09:54I feel like I've been pretty open with management in terms of what I feel like I need to do
09:59it was just probably an execution thing from my end and
10:02Again, I think the boys can be extremely proud of themselves and hold their heads high around how they've gone about this World Cup
10:08And I think the future of USA cricket looks good. Thank you
10:13Thank you
