Beluga whales evacuated from Ukraine to Spain

Marine #biologists have moved a pair of beluga whales – from #Kharkiv to #Valencia.
After a complicated cross-continental transfer, Valencia's famed Oceanografic complex welcomed 15-year-old male Plombir and 14-year-old female Miranda from Kharkiv's #NEMO dolphinarium – just 800m from a site that was frequently shelled, with shockwaves causing severe stress on animals with such sensitive hearing.
The Oceanografic is the largest aquarium in #Europe – and the only one that houses beluga #whales.
