Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green says player-led podcasts allow sport stars to drive their own narrative
Transcript
00:00I didn't realize the power that came with it
00:04until I started going, the audience started building,
00:07and then you start seeing, like, clips of it pop up,
00:09and then it's driving the conversation.
00:12Then something crazy happens with me on the court,
00:14and I need to go talk about it.
00:16And you could kind of see it snatching all the power
00:20away from the media.
00:21Like, they wanted to build a certain narrative.
00:24And I think one really big moment
00:28was in the playoffs against,
00:30when we were playing against the Grizzlies.
00:32And I got kicked out of the game, and I went, shh.
00:34And danced on the way out.
00:38And I walked, literally, showered,
00:40and walked right to the hotel and started podcasting.
00:44And everybody was calling me crazy, and like,
00:47how dare you, you don't take this serious enough.
00:50Like, no, I actually take it very serious,
00:53which is why I'm sitting here.
00:54And to see the power that came with that,
00:59you started to see a shift.
01:00I felt like it was in that moment
01:02where everybody was, in the NBA,
01:04the guys who were saying, oh, like,
01:06I don't think we can do that,
01:07or we shouldn't be doing that.
01:09It was that moment in the NBA that it flipped.
01:13And it was all about, all right,
01:16now we can drive our own narrative at any point.
01:19Doesn't matter what the situation is.
01:21And it was a bunch of power that came with it
01:24that I had no idea was coming.
