00:00Well played today. How much confidence can yourself and the team take from that performance
00:08as you go ahead now into the Super 8s?
00:10Well it was a good win, we had a good night with bat and ball but it's only the first
00:15game in the Super 8 so you know last group stage we were struggling a bit, obviously
00:21weather dependent as well so I don't think we've forgotten about that and we're going
00:25to just take every game in it straight.
00:27In terms of the opposition though, strong, highly fancied team, lots of fans there in
00:32the stands, it was quite a pressure moment really for the team and you must be pleased
00:36with how they've come through.
00:38Yeah it's probably going to be one of the toughest games we're going to play this tournament,
00:42you know great opposition in their backyard as well, the crowd and everything going with
00:47them so I think to come out on top tonight when, I won't say it didn't look possible
00:53but you know it was always going to be a tricky chase, batting second and all of that
00:57so I'm really really glad that you know we were able to chase such a high total so early
01:02in the tournament so if we ever do get into trouble we know exactly that we can do it.
01:07Can you tell us about the way you seized the moment in the 16th over, you know it was a
01:12moment where it looked like maybe a big score was coming and Puran was set and you bowled
01:17five dot balls and the wicket, it felt like quite a turning point.
01:22Well it's everything, well I was just glad I executed, you know it's everything that
01:27we talked about in the bowling meetings and you know that's one of the times where you
01:33know you just nail it, you know execution was almost perfect, I reckon if Woody didn't
01:38dive for that ball he probably would have caught that as well so you know I'm really
01:43glad that that over was probably the tipping point a little bit.
01:47And what about the turnaround now, it's just a very quick roll around, same venue, South
01:52Africa another strong opposition but on the back of a game like that is the team really
01:57happy just to get back out on the park and go again?
02:00Well yeah you know everyone loves to win and you know everybody loves to win a really good
02:05or close game so I think confidence will be high but as I said earlier you know it's only
02:11the first game, we've got another what four or five, another five more games to go so
02:15you know this was lovely but it's still business as usual on Friday.
02:20You're bowling those tough overs quite regularly aren't you, the 6th and what was it the 16th,
02:28is that something, I mean they're the pressure overs, is that something you really enjoy?
02:32I wouldn't say you enjoy it, it's your job, I feel like from the very first time I debuted
02:39at Sussex I've always bowled two in the power play, maybe one in the middle and always two
02:43at the deaf so the times that I've bowled never really changed so you don't really think
02:50about it too much, you just know you've got to get on with it.
02:53Can I ask how the body's feeling, that was probably the quickest I think you've bowled
02:59tonight since you've been back, everything looked easy, how's it feeling?
03:06Well I was just speaking to Danny about it as well but you know you don't really get
03:11the chance to run in and bowl fast, usually everyone just sits back and tries to use the
03:16pace so I feel like from the Pakistan series they've just been trying to mix the pace and
03:23try not to be too predictable, obviously in the back end then usually you'll bowl a bit
03:28more pace on balls but to be honest in the power play you've just got to mix it up, try
03:32not to get lined up, try not to get too predictable.
03:37Joffre, this tournament must give you some mixed emotions given your Caribbean background
03:42as well, how has it been for you, just emotionally?
03:46Nah, no mixed emotions, I never played, well this is the first time I played in St Lucia,
03:51last week was the first time I played in Antigua, I didn't play any cricket in the Caribbean
03:56really other than in St Kitts so I'm just like the other guys, just finding my feet
04:01and just trying to get used to the conditions here.
04:06Joffre, can you just tell us the challenge that South Africa batting line-up are going
04:10to present to you guys?
04:12Can you just talk about the challenge that South Africa batting line-up is going to present
04:16to you guys as a bowling attack on Friday?
04:19It's the same challenge as any other team, obviously all teams have, every single team
04:241-6 is packed with good batters so it doesn't really change, we're going to plan and we're
04:29going to have our bowling meeting and we're going to just try to come up with a plan that works.
04:34And in the 50-over World Cup in India last year, that game in Mumbai against South Africa
04:39was a bad one for England, there have been a lot of guys in the dressing room who maybe
04:44feel they owe them one, do you think, on Friday?
04:48Honestly, I didn't get to watch that game because I was on my way back to the UK that
04:53same day so I didn't really get to watch it.
04:56Yes, I know the tournament wasn't a great tournament for the boys and I think that's
05:00just past us.
05:03It happens and we're just trying to put our best foot forward.
05:11Just tell me where your head was at seeing that you had to face the West Indies team
05:16Okay, sorry about that.
05:19Just tell me where your head was at seeing that you had to face the West Indies team
05:24given their previous performance.
05:27Previous performance, when you mean the other night?
05:29On Monday, yes.
05:33I guess as I said earlier, you know, they're a dangerous opposition, especially playing
05:38in their backyard.
05:40They had a really good game against Afghanistan as well but I think we're a different ball
05:45in attack and I think we probably have more seamers in them as well so it's different.
05:50It was just a different game altogether.
05:53We know what they're capable of but you still got to back yourself in those situations.
06:01Your team is packed with a lot of skilled players but you play a special role as a star
06:08bowler.
06:09How do you relish that role?
06:12Say the first part again, I didn't hear the first part.
06:14Yeah, I said the team is packed with a lot of skilled players.
06:17You have a lot of professional, skillful players but your role is a special one as a bowler.
06:23You play some of a starring role I would say.
06:26How do you relish that role?
06:28How do you help to uplift your team?
06:32Is it something that you relish?
06:34Is it something that you take on the responsibility?
06:39I guess so and obviously just coming back into the team, I feel like I just want to
06:46give back.
06:51I didn't think about it too badly in the first couple overs so that's the time where you
06:55got to run around in the field.
06:57You got to try to make something happen even though you're not bowling because I think
07:02just giving back to the team makes it a bit easier for everybody else.
07:06With back, ball, fielding, I'm just always trying to help.
07:11That's just the type of person I am.
