Jean Arthur, pseudonym of Gladys Georgianna Greene (Plattsburgh, October 17, 1900 – Carmel-by-the-Sea, June 19, 1991), was an American actress. After retiring from the stage she taught dramatic art for several years, first at Vassar College and later at the North Carolina School of the Arts. The actress was married twice. She never had children.
