China’s submarine fleet 70 years on

China’s Navy established its submarine corps on June 19, 1954.

Just 3 years prior a group of 293 soldiers and officers from diverse military branches had gathered at China’s Tiger Tail Peninsula in Lyushun Port to discuss and study the technology.

Today this fleet takes part in international security exercises around the world and helps China’s navy secure trade routes for international commerce.

In 16 years, 150 vessels & 35,000 Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy personnel have helped escort more than 7,200 local & international vessels.
