00:00French President Emmanuel Macron has asked schools to hold a discussion hour on racism
00:08and anti-Semitism this week, following the rape of a Jewish girl in a Paris suburb, as
00:14Prime Minister Gabriel Attal condemned the attack.
00:19The past is absolutely abject, unbearable, unqualifiable, and of course I think of
00:26this young girl, I think of her family, her friends, her loved ones, the authors have
00:32been identified, arrested, they are in detention, and of course the penalties will be very heavy
00:40and without appeal.
00:41And I say it, I really call on all political leaders to put
00:47enough digs on the issue of anti-Semitism, enough banal discourses, enough words that
00:53we tolerate, that install in the country a climate that I say is deadly, and we see it
00:58alas since October 7, anti-Semitism has regained vigor in our country.
01:03The attack has heightened tension in the social climate leading up to France's snap elections.
