00:23Vice President Sara Duterte filed her resignation letter in Malacanang.

00:33She was elected as a member of the Department of Education and vice chairperson of NTFL-CAC.

00:40Her resignation is effective July 19, 2024.

00:45I have given my 30-day notice to ensure the proper and orderly transition for the benefit of the next secretary.

00:55There is no reason for Duterte to resign as a member of the Cabinet of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:17Two years since we accepted the gargantuan task of heading the basic education sector, we have taken big steps towards institutional reforms.

01:30In her message, the second president praised her leadership in the Department of Education,

01:36such as launching a new curriculum for kindergarten to grade 10 students.

01:42As we open our schools on July 29, we highly anticipate its nationwide implementation.

01:50Our curriculum, however, is a mere scrap of paper without the necessary resources for its effective delivery.

02:00The purchase of additional textbooks, reading materials, learning tools, and equipment was also accelerated.

02:07By the first half of the year, we are on track to complete our textbook procurement as well as the purchase of e-learning cards.

02:17Duterte insisted that their resources are limited in the Department of Education, but that was not an obstacle to her mission.

02:25Today, an additional 2,000 last-mile schools have been given internet connections through satellites,

02:34while 305 schools have been connected through fiber internet.

02:39By the end of 2025, we aim for all schools to be connected.

02:46She also reiterated the importance of improving the quality of education for Filipinos.

03:04VP Sara thanked partner agencies, LGUs, private sector partners, and her DepEd colleagues.

03:25for your passion, and for your unrelenting commitment to rearing the youth.

03:32In the two years that we have been together, the story we have built is a story of perseverance.
