00:00Vice President Sara Duterte has left the cabinet of President Bongbong Marcos.

00:05She served as the DepEd Secretary and Co-Vice Chairperson of NTF-ELCAC.

00:10Her resignation happened after several months of talks that there is something wrong with their relationship with the President.

00:18Rafi Kima has a report.

00:23A press conference of the spokesman of DepEd was scheduled earlier this afternoon.

00:27But a few minutes before it started, the podium was replaced by the table and Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte came out.

00:35Earlier today, June 19, 2024, I sought an audience with the President and attended my resignation as the Secretary of Education effective July 19, 2024.

00:52I have given my 30-day notice to ensure the proper and orderly transition for the benefit of the next Secretary.

01:02According to the Presidential Communication Office, President Bongbong Marcos accepted Vice President Duterte's resignation.

01:09It is written on Duterte's body that her resignation is irrevocable.

01:13She also served as the Co-Vice Chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCAC.

01:19She has no reason to remain silent.

01:21My resignation is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of true concern for our Filipino teachers and youth.

01:35The Vice President said that he will not give additional statements while the transition is underway.

01:41DepEd officials were surprised by the announcement.

01:44Of course, we were surprised because he resigned suddenly.

01:47And tomorrow is the anniversary of DepEd.

01:50Senate President Jesus Cordero was called inevitable or unavoidable resignation

01:55due to the attack of former President Rodrigo Duterte

01:58and the Bisay brothers on President Bongbong Marcos and other members of the First Family.
