Huddersfield's Maddie Leech - interviewed after finishing second in British Road Championships U23s time-trial in Yorkshire
Transcript
00:00You just finished second in the British Under-23 Time Trial, how do you feel about that?
00:10Yeah, I think I can be happy. It was a very tough course, I wouldn't say it wasn't my
00:15ideal course, but given the form that I've had I think it was a good result.
00:22You won it last year, so is there a sense that you've been beaten this year, is that
00:26what you feel?
00:27Yeah, I guess you're always disappointed because you come here to win, but I think the course
00:32this year is very, very different and I'd say maybe my run in this year has been not
00:37as well planned as last year. But I gave it my best today, so yeah, I think I'm happy
00:43with second, there's nothing more I could have given.
00:45It's a busy Championships for you, you've got the Criterium on Friday night and then
00:49the road race on Sunday. How do you prepare for those two different types of races?
00:55Yeah, I think it's, they're very different races. I think doing the Elite races, like
01:02the World Tour races, they help prepare for the road race, and the Crits are just a good
01:06bash about and just good threshold effort for an hour.
