00:00Yesterday evening at approximately 10 minutes past five, police responded to a two-vehicle

00:05collision on Southern Cross Drive halt near the intersection of Bow Repair Crescent.

00:12The two vehicles involved was a motorcycle and a tipper-style light truck. The motorcycle rider

00:19sustained some fairly catastrophic injuries. He was treated at the scene and was then conveyed

00:24to the Canberra Hospital where sadly he passed a short time later.

00:28As a police officer I'm concerned about any loss of life on our roads or any appropriate or

00:35applicable road trauma. This is the fourth vulnerable road user that has lost their life

00:39on ACT roads this year. That is a concerning statistic and it is worrying to say the least.

00:46The truck driver is currently assisting police with their inquiries. I won't make any comment

00:51about the nature of those inquiries at this time. As I said this is a very early part of

00:55our investigation and we will be preparing all documentation required for the coroner in the

01:00courts.
