00:00Who do you think is the most important Derry woman?
00:02If a festival comes up now to celebrate a woman in Ireland, is there any one?
00:07A woman in Ireland or a woman in Derry?
00:08In Derry.
00:12That's a very, very good question, all right.
00:15I can't think of anything.
00:16Well, Pat Hume I think was one of the most important people.
00:19Pat Hume.
00:20He was a great influence on John and I think did a lot of good for the city, I think.
00:25Well, yes, yes, I would pretty much ask people who do you think the most influential woman is from Derry?
00:31I'm from Dublin.
00:32Oh, you're from Dublin?
00:34Well, who do you think is the most prominent Irish woman there?
00:38At the moment, in accordance with the YES Festival, I'm looking forward to seeing Mary Robinson's talk on climate justice tomorrow.
00:47And why do you think she is most prominent?
00:52I think the work that she's done in Ireland, especially for women, has just changed lives for women all generations now in Ireland.
01:06In Ireland and here in the North we have two women who are leading the country and are great athletes who are women.
01:14Do you think Ireland is in the right place at the moment with women's rights and respect for women in general?
01:22I do. I think we're moving in the right direction.
01:25I think there's still work to be done but I think we're probably in a better position than a lot of other countries.
01:33Could you just tell me who do you think the most inspiring woman from Derry is?
01:39I have to say Nadine Coyle, I'm sorry.
01:41Nadine Coyle but Imelda May as well too.
01:43They were the two female artists that I grew up looking up to.
01:48But Nadine Coyle is just iconic.
01:51Why do you think Nadine Coyle?
01:54I grew up listening to Gears Aloud and all.
01:56I'm a musician now but my first concert ever was the Gears Aloud concert and seeing Nadine Coyle up in the Millennium Forum.
02:03I was like 10 and I was like, this is the best night ever.
02:08And then obviously the passport. I can't forget the passport.
02:12But Nadine Coyle all the way.
02:15I think the most inspiring woman from Ireland is...
02:18Oh dear, caught me on the hop.
02:26I'd probably go for one of the pop stars like Enya or somebody.
02:32Just very clear vision. Determined. She was part of the Clanad band originally.
02:38She decided that she was restricted creatively by staying in that band.
02:44And decided to break out on her own and did so phenomenally.
02:52With some breakthrough albums and soundtracks for some blockbuster movies like The Lord of the Rings and things like that.
02:59So, she gets my vote.
