00:00Eid Mubarak to all of you. How is your Eid going?
00:03Even if it's a small Eid, it's a different kind of celebration.
00:06I think on a big Eid, it's not easy and there's a lot of difficulties and a lot of responsibility.
00:11Eid Mubarak to you as well. Eid Mubarak to all your team and viewers.
00:16You're absolutely right. Eid-ul-Adha is a big challenge for any government, especially the municipal government.
00:27In Eid-ul-Adha, the way the Muslim Ummah plays a big role in fulfilling the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi,
00:40the Pakistani nation also plays a big role in that.
00:43And in Karachi, it's a tradition to participate in Eid-ul-Adha.
00:48So, it's a big challenge for the administration.
00:51And it's not just the 3 days of Eid.
00:55In the last 10 days, when the Zilhat starts, it's a tradition to bring people to their homes and serve them.
01:03So, it's a big challenge, but we try to fulfil it.
01:08And we try to solve all the problems.
01:11Now, let's talk about Eid.
01:13What's the difference between a small Eid and a big Eid?
01:20In today's life or in my childhood?
01:21From your childhood till now, what's the difference?
01:23The most visible difference is that I used to get a small Eid, but not a big one.
01:28And now, the difference is that I have to celebrate Eid.
01:31So, that's the difference.
01:33But, it's time to meet your family.
01:37We have a small family.
01:39So, I try to meet the elders of the family and spend time with them.
01:49Okay, now that you're talking about Eid, I think we used to get this feeling at night itself.
01:56That if we had Rs. 2, Rs. 5 or Rs. 10 notes, we used to get this feeling.
02:04And we used to keep thinking about how much Eid each of us would get.
02:08And there was no happiness.
02:10And if we used to get less Eid, there was disappointment.
02:12Yes, there was a lot of disappointment.
02:14There was one more thing.
02:16When my mother used to slap me on Eid, I used to say,
02:20where will you go? You'll waste it. You can take it from me later.
02:23Okay, this happened with you too.
02:24Yes, this used to happen.
02:25This never happened.
02:27So, you experienced the same thing?
02:28Yes, of course.
02:29My mother used to say, you'll waste the money.
02:34So, keep the money with me.
02:37One more thing that I've observed and researched is that
02:41you're still on the receiving end of Eid.
02:45You're one of the lucky ones.
02:47Yes.
02:48Where do you get Eid from?
02:49My uncle gives me my first Eid.
02:51We pray together and have breakfast together.
02:53All the brothers and cousins.
02:55I get my first Eid from my uncle.
02:57Okay.
02:58After that, I get Eid from my in-laws.
03:01Does your sister-in-law ask you to give her some money on Eid?
03:06She doesn't ask for much.
03:10But, she's a traditional woman.
03:14She must be spending money all year round.
03:16That doesn't stop.
03:19Will you get us into a fight?
03:23Will you get me into a fight on Eid?
03:25No, no.
03:26When it comes to politics, it's a big part of life.
03:29How do you manage your time?
03:31Eid is a big part of life.
03:33But, when it comes to politics,
03:35it's difficult to manage our time.
03:38You're always busy on Eid.
03:41There are so many challenges.
03:43Is it easy to spend time with your kids at home?
03:46It's difficult.
03:48My wife has played a positive role in this.
03:53She balances everything.
03:55She explains to the kids
03:57that their father is busy.
04:02I try to get my kids to sleep early.
04:05They sleep at 7.15.
04:07So, I try to come home by 6.30 or 7.45.
04:11So that I can meet my kids.
04:14What do you do for a living?
04:17Do you go out to buy animals?
04:19Or, have you always wanted to do this?
04:21I used to go out when I was excited.
04:25But, I've never used a knife in my life.
04:30It's a difficult task for me too.
04:32I've never done it.
04:34For the past few years,
04:36I haven't gone to the market.
04:41I have a friend,
04:43who is very kind.
04:45He's a childhood friend of mine.
04:47He goes there himself
04:49and gets the animals.
04:51Then, he cuts them
04:53and gives them to me for eating.
04:55This helps you save a lot of money.
04:57Yes, it does.
04:59Otherwise, you get to know
05:01that the butcher
05:03doesn't even touch the mayor.
05:05It's very challenging.
05:07I'll tell you.
05:09Yes, it was a big challenge
05:11when I was a kid.
05:13They also give you hats.
05:15They tell you that
05:17they'll be back in a while
05:19because you've brought so many animals.
05:21They tell you that they'll be back.
05:23So, you get cold.
05:25Yes, you get cold.
05:27But, it doesn't end there.
05:29It's a different job in the city.
05:31In my childhood memories,
05:33when the butcher comes,
05:35he doesn't come with a goat.
05:37But, when a cow or a bull is being slaughtered,
05:39he runs away.
05:41He makes you work hard.
05:43It's a lot of excitement
05:45because you don't get to see it that way.
05:47On a serious note,
05:49this year I wanted
05:51to sell
05:53centralised sacrifice.
05:55Sacrifice is a duty.
05:57But,
05:59when we do it privately
06:01on such a large scale,
06:03there's a competition in the society.
06:05Some people are self-sufficient.
06:07Some people are capable.
06:09Some people are not capable.
06:11So, a competition is created
06:13unnecessarily.
06:15Secondly, I think
06:17the infrastructure is also affected.
06:19So,
06:21just like in other countries,
06:23if we centralise it
06:25in such places
06:27where the sacrifice
06:29is made,
06:31I think
06:33there can be a good transition
06:35in our city.
06:37It's a food for thought
06:39that if people develop this thought
06:41next year,
06:43Karachi's administration
06:46will want to make such a move
06:48so that we can keep the city safe
06:50and the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi
06:52will be fulfilled.
06:54Thank you so much, Mr. Murtaza Wahab.
06:56It was an honour
06:58being here and it was fun talking to you.
07:00It's a lot of fun.
07:02On TV,
07:04we talk about political issues
07:06and sometimes even criticize.
07:08But here,
07:10I got to know about your personality.
07:12It was a lot of fun talking to you.
