00:02:59Holy shit boys, that was one hell of a u.s. Open
00:03:05Sunday afternoon
00:03:07Father's Day
00:03:08Bryson DeChambeau
00:03:10Wins the u.s. Open Rory McIlroy chokes the u.s. Open but more than anything. I love sports. It was great
00:03:17It was an iconic back nine and then to see how it unfolded with Rory looking over his shoulder at Bryson the entire time
00:03:25Bryson mugging for the camera. Yeah, and also Bryson going back to when he played injured on on Saturday
00:03:31Yeah, he had the hip. He said he was playing at about 80% this weekend
00:03:35But they had you had like drone cameras through the treetops seeing Bryson getting his leg worked on
00:03:41It was it was a very very good weekend of golf
00:03:44It was it was like the perfect pine hearse was incredible because it was a great test. We talked about it being borderline
00:03:50There were moments where it was borderline
00:03:52Maybe over the line guys hitting shots within like 10 feet of the hole and then having it roll all the way back down
00:03:58But more than anything it was just what you want in a major Sunday
00:04:03And it was a guy Bryson who going into Sunday. It was like he's definitely gonna win. He's got three shot lead
00:04:09no one can figure out this golf course and then you have the flip where there was that moment where
00:04:15Bryson went to my six under Rory went to eight under you're like, holy shit
00:04:20this is gonna happen and then they they get back together tied at six under and going down the stretch and Rory
00:04:27Missing two putts within five five feet or four feet. They were yeah, the first one was about two and a half
00:04:34I think yeah, second one was like three and a half it
00:04:37Listen, I know there was a lot said about afterwards because Rory skipped media
00:04:42He here's here's one dramatic reading from a reporter on-site. This is from Steve Reed AP
00:04:49He said Rory McIlroy threw his clubs in the back of a tournament-sponsored Lexus, oh my god
00:04:55backed out of the parking lot and
00:04:57Spun his tires a little getting out of the parking lot
00:05:01Yeah, he did not talk spun his tires a little would that not be how a car goes? That's how a car moves
00:05:09Six minutes after DeChambeau makes winning putt Rory spins tires on way out of town
00:05:14And if you saw the video it was worse than that description. They also squeaked a little bit. Oh, yeah
00:05:20And then the camera whoever was filming it
00:05:22Did a nice little touch because as the car drives away going probably 10 miles an hour the camera guy goes. Whoa
00:05:29Like he almost got hit by it. Yeah, and it was scenes of Scotty Scheffler before the the PGA Championship
00:05:35I thought that maybe there's some bystanders that might have been in trouble there
00:05:38Yeah, and then we had people watching Rory and his progress to his private jet and then flight tracker systems tracking Rory's private jet
00:05:46And seeing that he was in the air. I believe before Bryson's acceptance speech. Yeah, so he was he was a poor sport
00:05:52He was it was a poor sport. We also had a this is another
00:05:55We had video of it and Jay Busby said Rory McIlroy leaving the clubhouse. He got into his car and drove off
00:06:01Yeah, well the tires spun. Yeah, usually when you get your car you drive off. Oh, yeah poor sport
00:06:06If you note
00:06:09the majority of the poor sport
00:06:11Claims are coming from the media itself. Mm-hmm who Rory didn't talk to I proposed so I have no problem with this
00:06:18I understand you wanted you I would like to hear from him. We will hear from him at some point
00:06:23I was thinking about it the way Rory lost that tournament and the putts that he missed in the 10 years that it's been since
00:06:30he won a major and
00:06:32Bryson who will get to having like an about face where he's the people's champ out there on the course
00:06:38Which if you said that four years ago, you'd be like no fucking way. I'd be like the people suck
00:06:42Yeah, yeah, right. The people have been lead poison. Yes
00:06:46All of that and you put it into a bottle and you say Rory
00:06:51We want you to stick around and drink this bottle while reporters say what was going through your head on 18?
00:06:57That is actually
00:06:59worse than any torture that you could ever come up with like ever I so as
00:07:04Much as you want to claim poor sport
00:07:06I think that every athlete should get one a year where they can just say I'm not doing this and and this you you and
00:07:14If you if you don't use it, you lose it
00:07:15So you don't get carryover, but you get one a year where you just be like, nope. No Moss
00:07:20I can't do it because I would if I were Rory and I had to sit there and have Bryson come up to me like
00:07:26That was an incredible fight you put up, you know, what? Oh you played so great
00:07:31I wish two of us could have won this and then go sit and have some
00:07:35Reporter say Rory talk me through what happened with that putt that you missed. I
00:07:41Kill myself. Yeah, well, can I would I would yeah, you can't do that
00:07:44You got to get in your Lexus your your your your tournament sponsored Lexus and spin those tires and get the fuck out of Dodge
00:07:51Can you imagine if on this show because we are members of the media?
00:07:53yeah on this show if if one of us was like a real real big winner and
00:07:59Then we made the person who was a big loser
00:08:02sit while the big winner talked about how big of a winner they were and we did that for like 30 minutes and then asked
00:08:07The loser to give us comment on that right how terrible that we would never do something like that because we care too much for
00:08:13The people that we work with but for some reason golf media wants that to happen and it could never be us and and the loser
00:08:18Then just doesn't show up for the next show. Yeah. No, that would be right
00:08:22We're not gonna get into that territory, right? That's not how we operate right?
00:08:25That's not how we operate with a little bit more class
00:08:27and it's also very funny that it goes back to like the Marshawn Lynch Super Bowl days or
00:08:31Cam Newton when he skipped the press conference afterwards the media gets so mad so mad there and
00:08:38Then they have all their articles about how this person didn't give them anything to write about right and he actually Rory gave everybody
00:08:45so much more stuff to write about right so much more stuff to talk about by not answering questions than he did if he had
00:08:50Stuck around and just given like deadpan answers of credit to Bryce and he played really really well, of course
00:08:56I'm disappointed very upset that I missed those putts, you know, yeah, one of those things golf's a hard game
00:09:00That's what Rory would have said. I just did his press conference right there. Yeah golf is a hard game
00:09:04It's tough to get this close credit to Bryce and he played really really well. I'm very happy for him and happy for golf
00:09:10That's what he would have said. Yeah, okay, that's the press come but the fact that Rory
00:09:14Sped away like where she rice in the parking lot and and could have murdered people on his way out
00:09:19Yep
00:09:19that gives that gives the
00:09:21reporters way more stuff to talk about and way more of a storyline and they get and more than anything it gives them a
00:09:27Soapbox and a moral high ground to be like you didn't let us do our job
00:09:31But you're right that the story is that Rory and it's again
00:09:35it's a ridiculous story because I really do think that there should just be a what there maybe there's someone has to judge it and
00:09:42And you like it's almost going to the booth in Toronto
00:09:45Or you know the NFL when they do a replay
00:09:49We just have someone who's watching every sporting event and they just get to judge like all right
00:09:54That was actually such a painful loss. They shouldn't have to talk because
00:09:59You can't have a more painful loss than what he had. Yeah, what are we missing out on by not hearing Rory talk?
00:10:04I want to know Rick Riley is probably mad at Rory because
00:10:07How is he going to make puns about about Rory after the game or after the match when he didn't hear him talk right words?
00:10:13He's a he tell you what Rick Riley. I will give you your lead. Yeah, Rory
00:10:18Hey, Rory can't find the hole from within four feet twice
00:10:22Boy, I feel sorry for his ex ex-wife ex ex-wife. Yeah, there you go Rick two negatives make a pause
00:10:27Yeah, we about the collapse. Oh, what do you say? Yeah poor Rory golf is the cruelest game
00:10:32It will pants you in front of the whole schoolyard then steal your lunch money. Oh
00:10:37Yeah
00:10:38Sounds a little personal Rick wait
00:10:40So Rick's talking about personal like a game of golf you will get pants like 15 year old Rory McIlroy's penis is wait
00:10:46But that's actually not right because a pantsing
00:10:50With full balls flopping out is so funny. This wasn't funny
00:10:54This was tragic like if you yeah
00:10:56If you had if you pants Rory and his in his dick and balls flopped out for everyone to see
00:11:02That's one of the funniest moments of all time like if you really pants someone and you get the boxers to yeah
00:11:08It's happened to me. That's fucking hilarious. Mm-hmm. I got you can't you can't tell me different wait Jake you've been pants
00:11:13Yeah, we thought the balls flopping out. Yeah balls. We're playing pick up all me my friends at home
00:11:18Uh-huh. It just happened. We were in transition. Yeah, damn. Oh you were in transition. So no balls. No penis there. No balls
00:11:25We're in transition on the basketball
00:11:28Yeah, no so PFT you're exactly right that when the story now for all the reporters being like you didn't let us do our job
00:11:36We don't have a story to write about now
00:11:37You're gonna write about this story how you didn't get to talk to Rory and on top of that
00:11:42Rory is going to talk to someone
00:11:44probably do like
00:11:46You know a profile or or just you know some one of these insider guys is gonna reach out to him in three days
00:11:52And there's gonna be a long story about how how
00:11:55Disappointed he is and we're gonna get even more content out of it like four days from now
00:11:59We're gonna get a Rory story that we can talk about. He'll be like, I'm I'm sorry that I left this earlier, right?
00:12:04I was in a very emotional state and then he'll do like that whole thing or he could just answer reporters text message like Brooks
00:12:09Yeah, actually should we text Brooks? I got to see what Rory's what his reaction about really early was. All right
00:12:16I'm gonna text him. I'll say Woody. We're doing the show right now
00:12:19We're looking for comment on what Rory would have thought yeah, hey, all right, Hank
00:12:25We give us your thoughts while I Texas cuz you're the big golfer and also congratulations on your Bryson win
00:12:30Yeah, Bryson been riding him every major this year two top fives one today felt like he was gonna lose all day
00:12:36once he went down to
00:12:38He couldn't hit up drive straight
00:12:39I was kind of worried about him just switching driver like they said he never swung this driver before until the first tee shot which
00:12:46Was a little alarming
00:12:48Stay woke on that. We've got a theory was smiling. Yeah, I actually like this theory a lot
00:12:52I've that would be his next YouTube video is gonna be such a banger. Yes, whatever it is
00:12:56It's just gonna be like I think I won the u.s. Open. He won the u.s. Open for the content
00:13:01But it was I mean he was hitting it out of the shit every single hole still making birdies unbelievable win
00:13:08and
00:13:10I mean Rory is fun to root against he's kind of like I have never necessarily been a huge Rory fan. Yeah, and
00:13:18In sports, it's always fun. Maybe I'm just a hater
00:13:20But yeah, I always as much as I like rooting for the people I like to root for I love rooting against people to like LeBron
00:13:28Rory's not as bad, but like it's it's it's kind of fun to watch someone choke
00:13:32Yeah, and this was a an ultimate live vs. PGA showdown. Yeah, and your live boys came up big you are a live head
00:13:38Wait, I thought we were told that when a live guy won a major
00:13:41We would get all the other live guys on the green waiting for him
00:13:44Well big Brooks Brooks did tweet right away, oh, yeah, actually they rallied
00:13:49Yeah, it's actually a great tweet said welcome to the club two-time u.s. Open champ. That's very nice of him
00:13:54Uh, yeah, I was gonna say I saw I saw Dustin Johnson wearing the four aces polo
00:14:00Oh, no, he is playing earlier this week
00:14:01So that reminded me to ask Hank who the four aces are four aces are Dustin Johnson Patrick Reed Pat Perez
00:14:11Mmm
00:14:14His dad owns something
00:14:17Right. No, I think they had a trade. I'm looking at now. It's not a guy who's is it Matthew something?
00:14:22No, you're thinking Matthew Wolfe. Oh
00:14:25Man Hank, is he good Pat Perez Patrick Reed?
00:14:29Uh, when I say the name you'll be like, yeah, I know him. Is it Patrick? No, I don't know
00:14:34Harold Warner the third. Oh
00:14:36Yeah
00:14:37Bryson so
00:14:40That he has done the full JJ watt rehabilitation where
00:14:46He was he the crowd was going crazy for him
00:14:49And he is we're gonna get into it more with smiley on why he's been able to write
00:14:54Bryson has changed who he is like the the revisionist history
00:14:57I know there's a few hardcore Bryson fans and they should take the victory lap right now
00:15:02But it's not like oh we were all wrong about Bryson. I think Bryson
00:15:06Realized that he was really annoying and he's
00:15:10Adapted and done a really good job about it. Like he it was fun watching him play golf
00:15:14We had this take for the Masters. So this isn't just because he won
00:15:17We we said that we were kind of slowly becoming Bryson fans
00:15:21Thankfully Brooks they've squashed the beef, but he is fun to watch
00:15:24I think it's because he has he has a fan base now
00:15:27Yeah, and when he's happy when he has people behind him, he becomes more likable
00:15:31It's when he doesn't have a built-in fan base that he's trying so very hard
00:15:36To be the cool guy and to be the guy that's like, you know breaking all the rules doing all the weird shit
00:15:42That's the part of Bryson that makes you be like this guy's really really strange, right?
00:15:46But when he's actually having fun Bryson seems like a good dude, and I'll give him credit
00:15:50I watch his YouTube videos a lot. I've seen a lot of them. He's pretty good. They're pretty entertaining. Yeah, they're engaging
00:15:56He was like interacting with the fans a bunch this weekend
00:15:59And when he's not fighting with the fans when when they're on his side
00:16:02He's a very interesting guy to observe and I kind of like him. I think he's good for golf
00:16:07Well, he his game is fun. He smashes the ball. He makes crazy shots. He screams at his balls screams at the ball
00:16:13He was he was yeah, he was interacting with the crowd unlike any other
00:16:18competing contending player that I can ever remember and
00:16:21It is it's it's it's interesting and it's fun and it's unique and he has completely
00:16:27Changed and I found myself I did bet on him because I got in Hank's hole no big deal
00:16:31He would never do that for me. Uh, I
00:16:34found myself rooting for him because he's interesting and I think there's it's
00:16:39The classic story arc that we you know
00:16:42You guy gets torn down and then he builds himself back up and you root for it
00:16:45It's kind of like you were just saying Hank that you root against Rory. I found myself rooting against Rory
00:16:51I think I'll root for Rory the next time because this was so tragic
00:16:54Even after he threw his clubs in the company of the tour sponsored vehicle and spun off and spun on spun wheels
00:16:59I I think like this. Yeah
00:17:02You take the shit and then you when you when you then have to climb back on top of the mountain the story becomes
00:17:09It's just a deeper more interesting story
00:17:12Bryson is an interesting story now that has like chapters and layers to it
00:17:17Yeah, there's some weird things that are still being you know ironed out where he's like
00:17:21Hey, I went to SMU because of Payne Stewart and they're like, but I also found out Payne Stewart went there
00:17:26After I'd already shown up, whatever Bryson is trying his best
00:17:30and I think he's actually enjoying playing golf and enjoying interacting with the fans and I found myself being like
00:17:36Thoroughly entertained and that's what sports are about
00:17:38he had a couple awesome shots on 18 the one where the tree was in his backswing and
00:17:43Everybody watching that was like he's gonna hit the tree
00:17:45Yeah, he's absolutely it was like when Hank and you were behind it
00:17:48One of my favorite parts of that video
00:17:50I know so in in the video that we put out the John Daly challenge Hank was back
00:17:54Watch it. Hank was about to take a shot
00:17:56Most of the comments were how can Hank be so bad at golf when you play so much?
00:18:00Yeah, also people complaining about Snickers ice cream bars, and I those people I love you
00:18:06I love you for watching but holy fuck you need to get your head checked
00:18:10No, but I that was the biggest issue of your life, but I love I love the fact that they care. So yeah
00:18:16It's honest honestly, yeah, it does but but also I just imagined someone typing out like this whole thing is bullshit
00:18:23It was Snickers ice cream bars. Yeah, and like stomping off to bed. Yeah, I actually love that. I respect it
00:18:28Yeah, I respect it. But yeah, so so on this one sequence the John Daly challenge video
00:18:32Hank has a tree in his backswing Big Cat as a good teammate
00:18:37I'm not gonna say whether or not Hank would do the same thing for Big Cat
00:18:39Big Cat sees that
00:18:41Gets out fights the tree off before Hank beat the shit out of the tree
00:18:44Hank has a beautiful backswing no tree in the area Big Cat steps up takes his shot from the same area
00:18:50Hank does not repay the favor the tree assaults Big Cat
00:18:54It was like Angel Reese against Kaitlyn Clark
00:18:56Big Cat gets bodied by this tree and then Big Cat screams at Hank for not fighting off the tree
00:19:01Which is a fair complaint and then Big Cat's like I can't believe I just I would kill any tree for my guys
00:19:07Then me and Big Cat drive off in her golf cart and Big Cat immediately drives me into a tree. Yeah, I spun off
00:19:12He went right into a tree
00:19:16Hey
00:19:20Tree out of here. That's a tree on this fucking backswing. Oh
00:19:27You hit the tree again Oh
00:19:32Yes
00:19:35Yeah bunker
00:19:39Bunky I don't know. Oh, there's a great shot is a very good time bad nothing to hang your head
00:19:43I want to say thank you for beating up that tree. Thank you for beating up that tree that that made the hole
00:19:48You're welcome
00:19:54I'm sorry. I thought you were gonna not set up so you didn't hit the tree
00:19:58That's my bad. That's my bad. I'm selfless. I see a tree and I fight it
00:20:03Then I get up there
00:20:07Fight the tree by myself. So that was a great lesson on friendship right there everyone saw
00:20:13Hop in someone's hole. I'll beat up a tree. I'm gonna do shit for you
00:20:20Just sit back and watch as the tree just bodies me it's crazy. This is it. I know it's crazy. I just
00:20:28Showed him how to beat up a tree and just
00:20:31It was awesome, yeah, but yeah, but I would fight any tree for anyone I didn't see that tree
00:20:36You also were kind of leaning a little out
00:20:39Yeah, you were man-spread. It's good. I was man spread
00:20:41But so so Bryson a lot of Snickers Bryson has the ice cream bar Bryson's got the tree in his backswing
00:20:47Nobody thinks he can get the ball out because it's like buried and Bryson was in the native area the entire weekend
00:20:52It was crazy. He was just like fuck it. I'll hit into the bush
00:20:54so he gets out gets to the bunker and then hits one of the greatest bunker shots that you'll ever see under the
00:20:59Circumstances and then drains the putt the ending of that tournament was what golf should be about
00:21:04Yeah, because not only do you have Bryson doing all this cool shit, but you've also got the multicam
00:21:09You've got the picture-in-picture of Rory watching on a what I have to assume is a tiny TV
00:21:15Yeah in the very sad back room where they sign their golf and you can see him
00:21:19He's rooting so hard against Bryson, but he can't outwardly be like come on miss it because he's a golfer
00:21:24And you have to be a good sport
00:21:25So you get to see the putt you get to see the heartbreak all-in-one it was just awesome TV
00:21:30the whole thing was incredible we also had did you see that we had a
00:21:34like
00:21:35Who's who's better to the fans contest going down the stretch?
00:21:39I didn't see there was a guy
00:21:40who was in a wheelchair and it was like
00:21:43Rory gave him a ball and then Bryson came and signed his hat and like all the media
00:21:49Like Rory incredible move giving him a ball and then quote reading like well actually Bryson signed his hat
00:21:55And it was just they were competing in everything
00:21:57I wonder I was curious if he asked Bryson sign his hat or Bryson was just like I think he just signed here sign
00:22:03See you later like credit to Bryson it by all accounts. He was awesome to the fans stayed late took all these pictures
00:22:10He was walking around the trophies that he wanted all the fans. Yes the truth. I love that like
00:22:15You could say it's cheesy and that he's trying to get goodwill. I don't care
00:22:19He's giving people a moment that they'll remember forever, and that's all that matters to us open trophy
00:22:24It's it was it was an awesome awesome weekend
00:22:27And then we also had Patrick Cantlie who I got a fuck is there any fan out there no everybody was really it was like
00:22:33I will I will tolerate either Rory or Bryson winning. I'll enjoy either one of those two Patrick
00:22:38Just get it get the fuck out. He is awfully yes
00:22:41A good friend is he his wiggle on putts makes me want to punch a hole in my TV
00:22:46He just stands there and wiggles a hundred times, and this is I have resting anger face, so I I don't you know
00:22:54He's got he's got resting anger face
00:22:55It's like I I see him and I'm like that's what people think when they see me like he's just always looks
00:23:00Miserable and he's also kind of got it like a dumpy dumpy ass he does
00:23:04Yeah, his body's like kind of dumpy like I don't know yeah, or he could definitely tighten it up
00:23:08He looks like a really cheap pair not to get personal. Yeah, he's dumpy. He's Humpty Dumpty. Yeah, yeah, it was awesome
00:23:15I inch and shout out the course was incredible. Oh, yeah, I borderline sometimes over the line
00:23:21Who's borderline borderline and and Rory hit that one shot on the back nine that it was an awesome shot
00:23:26And then just rolled probably like 40 yards off the green. Yeah, and it was like okay the course isn't fucking around right now
00:23:32I I like to see that the course baked out a little bit
00:23:35I've got a stat from Rory and his putting specifically so this season he was
00:23:42496 for 496 putting inside three feet this season before he missed that one putt and then he missed the other one
00:23:49I would assume he's probably a similar statistic. I'm like three and a half four and a half feet
00:23:54I would have made it yeah
00:23:55I would have made it because in a situation like this one what you have to do both
00:23:58I would have made the first one second one looks hard
00:24:00You don't know no no, but you don't miss the second one unless you miss the first one
00:24:03Yeah, cuz then the first ones in your head, but I would have concentrated. I also were just asked if it's good
00:24:09Maybe they would say yeah, that's give me right. Yeah, that's it right there the
00:24:13Yeah, it was a great tournament great fun
00:24:17Bryson I think we're trying him on the show. I mean it is crazy. We were I found myself rooting for him
00:24:23Yeah, but he's done
00:24:24He's done all the right things where he he has a lingering beef with you guys. I would I would respect it
00:24:30Oh, yeah, I would too, but that would honestly make me like him more
00:24:33But Brooks squash the beef we squash the beef when Brooks squash the beef and then it took us a while to come around to actually
00:24:39Liking him which happened a few months ago
00:24:42we owe your
00:24:44Are you team? Are you trying to?
00:24:46We're team of course. I want to come on. He had beef with you guys. I'd respect it
00:24:52We're all well hold on a second. We're you what do you mean by you guys we like
00:24:58We are if we are you wound the tape no, I'm saying but like there was there was the shows when all that stuff was happening
00:25:05I don't think I was speaking on them at all, but we're
00:25:09So you were so you're saying right now that you're always been a Bryson over a Brooks guy
00:25:14No, he can have beef with me. It's it's us. It's us, but I'm saying like but that was I was not you guys
00:25:20No, like I wasn't
00:25:23You guys are the two co-hosts. I wasn't speaking. Oh, we're three co-hosts
00:25:28If you're if listen, I wasn't speaking on those shows like I'm sure he listened to those podcasts back in the day
00:25:33It was probably like damn. These guys are fucking roasting me. Fuck them
00:25:37I don't think I was involved in those roastings, even though I felt the same way
00:25:41Why we never do a show where you didn't talk Hank?
00:25:43So you're just basically always slide out the back door bill wasn't me. No. No, I'm
00:25:48I'm with it. You stand behind everything we've said about Bryson as a podcast. Yes, you stand behind everything. We've said as a podcast
00:25:55Yes, okay good on some things that you're not gonna be
00:25:59Yeah, no, I'm I'm legitimately
00:26:01Excited to watch Bryson. That was fun. He has he's turned it. He's turned it
00:26:07He's done the impossible the USA chance rocked and then you had a couple of the the loser golf media people
00:26:13And like the one got one of the guys who took the live money and you're chanting USA
00:26:18Well to be fair to Bryson, he he did apologize for 9-11. Oh, yeah
00:26:23Actually Bryson's been on a real hot streak since he apologized for 9-11. Yeah, maybe that's all it took
00:26:27Yeah, it was his he took all the ownership. That was an all-time hilarious clip. Yeah
00:26:33sorry, and
00:26:35One last big loser. We should just mention is remember when Zach Johnson didn't put Bryson on the Ryder Cup team. Yeah
00:26:40Yeah, I just watched full swing in the last two weeks and and that that shit's infuriating. Yeah crazy infuriating crazy
00:26:49Okay, should we talk a little
00:26:52Basketball, I'm bummed out that we only have we've only got one more major. No, it feels like we should have two
00:26:58Yeah, I don't like that. The PGA changed and jumped ahead. I don't like it either
00:27:01It was always nice that they gave us one at the end
00:27:04also a finish like this I think needs to put some pressure and
00:27:09Momentum on the merger happening because the fact that we get to see these guys clash and drama like this only happening four times a year
00:27:15Oh, there's so unfortunate. There is there's there's what is it? There's an outline now. Yeah, they have an outline
00:27:20So so before like a year ago almost to the date a year ago
00:27:25They had the framework and now as per like a week ago. Not only do they have the framework, but they've got an outline
00:27:32What's next? Well, I think there I think they said they're gonna rough draft. Yeah rough draft
00:27:35They're waiting till Tuesday to announce details because I don't want to take away from the tournament. So we'll see. Okay, we'll see
00:27:41I loved I love getting an outline done in school and just been like, yeah, I got an outline. It's basically done
00:27:46I think next is actually a verbal agreement on the outline
00:27:49Yeah
00:27:50and then you move to rough and you move but seriously the fact that we get to see guys like this compete four times a
00:27:55Year, like we need that we need that year out
00:27:57Well, I mean you get to see it all the time if you have the CW network
00:28:01No, but Rory versus Bryson guy. Yeah, but you can always be like, all right
00:28:06Bryson shot Bryson versus Harold Varner. Yeah, exactly
00:28:09Yeah, all this shit in a team format would see was Bryson on Bryson's on the crushers. Okay, is that what's that's a great name?
00:28:17Wait, what is the what is Brooks team smash smash? Yeah, totally different team different name crushers
00:28:23So who else is on Bryson's team Hank?
00:28:26Bryson
00:28:27Yep. No, I am. No. Oh, that was a guy
00:28:32I
00:28:33Thought that was a guy
00:28:35Yeah, I don't know anyone else. This was this was such a bittersweet weekend for Greg Norman, too
00:28:40Oh, yeah, because Greg is probably happy with the whole live thing. He still consider himself very much part of that and
00:28:46Then he's getting booted though, but then yeah, but maybe not we don't know yet. He's still out with that one
00:28:51He's still swimming around. Yeah, the outline how I might not address Greg Norman. It might just be written by Greg Norman
00:28:56Yeah, but Greg Norman
00:28:58Probably partially happy because the live one but also Greg Norman started a trend because Rory melted down, right?
00:29:05They're like, this is exactly like when Greg Norman, right when that means brought up. Yeah. Yeah
00:29:10I should talk some basketball some hoop. We're running out of time. Oh, we are
00:29:15Let's talk some how much time do we have? Okay, we got we don't have as much tape left
00:29:19So we haven't been together since or we didn't last time recorded was Thursday night
00:29:24So sore up three nothing the first 30 minutes were
00:29:28Just for that for the Hank heads out there rave reviews from that episode. Yeah. Yeah from your parents were very upset
00:29:36I
00:29:37Didn't really understand. I'll defend you for a second Hank
00:29:40I didn't understand some of the criticism because you you were
00:29:44Literally a Tom Brady's retirement and he mentioned you
00:29:48Imagine if we didn't talk about that on the show. Yeah be insane. That would be insane
00:29:53But where's a Hank Lazing? It was a Hank Lazing, which you did, you know, you deserve is your birthday everything?
00:29:59then Friday happened and
00:30:02The Celtics are still up 3-1. I still think they're gonna win this series probably tonight
00:30:08But holy fuck did they get smoked?
00:30:11Yeah
00:30:12bad 35 points in the first half was
00:30:15Shocking shocking. They were they down 50 at one point. It got close
00:30:20They might have been down 50 at one point
00:30:24Yeah, it was like it was like 90. Oh, yeah, I think it was like 90 to 40 or something
00:30:28I don't know if it was 50 exactly but it was those that was that was a real scoreboard at one point
00:30:33They missed a bunch of layups. They missed every single shot
00:30:38They gave themselves a cushion though, yeah like that games not gonna matter
00:30:44When it's all said unless they they keep winning
00:30:47Right
00:30:49But that's not gonna happen, okay, so what are your nerves so I saw Dave tweeted this he said I'm
00:30:560% nervous about the Celtics, but if they lose on Monday night, I will be very nervous
00:31:03So the question then so if you went by that how nervous are you that they will lose tomorrow night? I
00:31:10Think I think they're gonna win tonight
00:31:12But they built a 3-0 cushion even if they lose game 5 obviously then it will be real nerves
00:31:19You know losing some sleep thinking about it a lot
00:31:22But I still think they would win game 6 and even if they lose game 6 they have a home game
00:31:26They have two home games to win a championship. It sounds like you might be you're nervous about being nervous
00:31:31Right, like you're not nervous yet. You're pre nervous. I'm not nervous yet if they lose Monday night that I would I'd be nervous
00:31:39I'd be a little nervous. I'm 0% nervous right if they lose Monday night
00:31:43I would not be like Dave said he would be all the way nervous. I would get pretty nervous
00:31:48Okay, but not even up three two. It's like but here's my question then what how nervous are you that they're going to lose tomorrow night?
00:31:54I'm tonight 0% you 0% chance of the Mavs are gonna win
00:32:0015% okay, so then you're 15% nervous. Oh, you're 15% to the way to being pretty nervous
00:32:07Yeah, cuz then they they lose game if they lose game 5 then what percent nervous are you 50?
00:32:1540 I don't think you should be nervous. I'm not but you are you're 15% nervous
00:32:21Well every game you you get nervous for every single game. You can't take these things lately
00:32:25You got to go out there and execute so it's like you can't no don't bring humble Hank back
00:32:29You got it. No well. No, but you got to be you got a dig it
00:32:32Respect it was your opponent. It was really it was a whopping they got absolutely destroyed. They were never down 50
00:32:39They were down 40 plus and the fact that it was that bad would make me a little bit nervous
00:32:43I'm look the real whoo pads out there aberration. They were playing. I actually said it in the moment
00:32:49it's it was kind of cool that a bunch of guys that were never gonna play in the NBA Finals got a
00:32:55Decent amount of minutes, and you'd be like yeah
00:32:57I scored a buck in the NBA Finals be great Joel and beat stats who are some of those guys out there
00:33:02You had the one guy who looked like Jalen Brown O'Shea Brissett. No number 12. I
00:33:08Don't know he looked like a brown you had a
00:33:12Number 12. Yeah number 12. He kind of moves like Jim. He's like a
00:33:16He's basically a body double then you had a did you have a small Charlie villain wave out there?
00:33:23You help like what was going on from Arkansas. Yeah, it's crazy. Oh, I remember. Yeah
00:33:28First round pick I liked him. Yeah, and the Mavs had yet. Just it was it was crazy
00:33:34Yeah, I mean I was at a bar where they were playing
00:33:36You know they did the music in between during commercials and then game sound when the game was on third quarter
00:33:42They just they stopped playing the game sound like it was just music. It was it was over
00:33:45I bet him I was like 18 and a half
00:33:48You know Pritchard and the bench are gonna fight back and make this thing like
00:33:52Respectable and it just went the complete opposite the fact that it was that bad
00:33:55Do you think that there's any any part of anybody on the Celtics roster that was like I really want to close this out at
00:34:02home
00:34:03No, but I think it's when it's that bad. It's easy to just forget about yeah, no it's it's easier to just
00:34:09completely forget about and
00:34:10Move on that if it was you know a close loss that maybe they were winning and should have won
00:34:16But then they blew it and and that would creep in more
00:34:19I think than just getting your doors blown off because it was it was a combo the Celtics played bad the Mavs played great
00:34:26And they were playing defense right they're playing defense and all the role players were hitting shots
00:34:31Okay, so you're not you're you're
00:34:3515% nervous about tonight. What about Chris stops because that would be the only thing that would make me nervous because
00:34:42They kind of are saying that he could play
00:34:44I feel like if he plays it's gonna be Kevin Durant in the finals kind of thing like he's just gonna get hurt
00:34:51Yeah, I kind of read the game for questionable, and I feel like he's probably not gonna play game five
00:34:57That seemed like a situation where they were gonna
00:34:59Just he's questionable to play and they were gonna put him in like if they were up, and they're gonna win a championship
00:35:05Get him on the court yeah, I don't think he's gonna
00:35:08I don't read anything meaningful if he does get on the court no
00:35:12I don't I don't think so everything I've read it seems like if he gets on the court and tries to run up and down
00:35:16He's just gonna get hurt again
00:35:18Yeah, and Tillman was saying in practice like he is not a hundred percent
00:35:22Which is probably not the smartest thing for a player to say about his own teammate
00:35:25But yeah, he was like he looks he looks rough
00:35:27Let me ask you this now. He was also questionable before game three, and then they ruled him out right so if
00:35:34The games had been flip-flopped if game three was a massive blowout and then game four was like game three
00:35:41Would you be nervous?
00:35:44More nervous more nervous than then it's cuz right now. It feels like gentlemen sweep. Yeah, yeah, I mean 3-0 when you have a 3-0 cushion
00:35:51no, I
00:35:52Mean there's no way. There's just no way they have two home games
00:35:56worst case scenario
00:35:59You know way, but if here's how time no way here's how time works. It's not a 3-0 lead you have a 3-1 lead
00:36:06Yeah, right could be 3-2 in 24 hours. Yeah, and then it would forget about 3-0. It was almost never 3-0
00:36:12yeah, then you just start the series at 3-2 I
00:36:17Don't know what the record is when you combine the playoffs, but they've lost 12 games
00:36:23They're not if they if they go one and read a one in four that would be insane
00:36:28Oh and four are you upset at all that would that would that would net that they got bounced out of the 80 wins
00:36:3620 loss club
00:36:38Yeah, what do you think about Joel Embiid finally being in attendance for a Celtics lost in the finals he did great
00:36:44He was he was fantastic on the analyst desk. I wish Max was here. He was he was really really good
00:36:49It was good to see him out there. I had some really really funny
00:36:52Points and interesting analysis, and he and he was tampering and the good news is he has
00:36:58Time like this is something he could do every finals. Yeah, I'm happy for him. I have something positive for you Hank
00:37:05I
00:37:06Know they have nothing to do with each other
00:37:09but
00:37:10what June 17th is like a
00:37:15Historical date for the Celtics, okay
00:37:17You want to go go no no no go ahead. No. No no I want to know what story you said historical
00:37:22I had to look at there. There's I forget what it is, okay, all right you look it up
00:37:26I'll tell you what I and six one seven is Boston area code, okay?
00:37:29So what I was gonna say is they have nothing to that rocks. Yeah, that rocks
00:37:34Did they win on other six one seven days, I think so I think that's when they beat the Lakers
00:37:40They played the Lakers a few times well they history them, okay, I'll look it up
00:37:45That's like the most common NBA Finals match
00:37:48When Hank told me when Hank told me his reason was six one seven is the Boston area code
00:37:53My first thought was like you fucking piece of shit like that's the most mass whole thing
00:37:57That's gonna happen, but then I was like no that yeah
00:37:59I can I can see a guy with his shirt off with a big six one seven tattoo across his chest
00:38:05Maybe on his neck maybe fresh out of jail for robbing a bank. He's like the fucking Celtics, dude
00:38:10It's gonna have one seven six one seven kid
00:38:13I'm over seven day one guy, but Sean Grand this was from him
00:38:17617 was the date the Celtics won their last championship of 2008 we got it three of the icons
00:38:22We've lost in the year since Bill Russell number six John Havlicek
00:38:2817 Sam Jones
00:38:3024 game 5 we played in what about Bill Walton on 617 24 was Bill Walton's left out
00:38:38Was Bill Walton's number for the Celtics he was he ate I think
00:38:44Bill Walsh is porzingis numbers, okay, I'm trying to the numerology he was number five game five
00:38:50Oh
00:38:51Shit Hank let's go over zero such as what I was gonna say was Hank to it another positive thing for you
00:38:58They have nothing to do with each other, but in my dumb brain
00:39:01They have everything to do with each other the fact that the Panthers then lost eight to one in the exact same setup
00:39:08Made me feel like both teams are just gonna like
00:39:11Listen, I'm not a gambling expert, but Panthers Celtics moneyline parlay
00:39:17game five
00:39:18Feels like it could potentially happen. Yeah, that's not a bad idea
00:39:22It does stink of like the league needing more games
00:39:25But but even those games were such blowouts that you can't blame refs
00:39:29and it was more like these teams are up 3-0 and they know they can go home and they know they're better and
00:39:37The minute the game like the Mavs jumped on the Celtics the Oilers jumped on the Panthers
00:39:43Ten minutes in and you're like I don't really want it. Let's just go home. Yeah go home and win this at home
00:39:48I know that's not how it works. But at some point
00:39:51At some point it does work like that. Yeah in third quarter. You tell me that Joe Joe Missoula was like no
00:39:56Let's try to win this game. Yeah, he was like fuck it. Let's just take it home Panthers the same way the
00:40:01I also have the greatest gambling system ever
00:40:03I saw I turned on the game Shania Twain was doing a free concert outside and I bet the Oilers because I said anytime Shania
00:40:09Twain does a free concert bet the home team
00:40:11It's 1-0 lifetime. Okay, anything special about about Shania? I love her. Yeah, she's good. Yeah
00:40:18She's the best. She is really good. Don't impress me much any man of mine. Yeah
00:40:25Didn't she forget how to sing because she got dumped I
00:40:30Think she did I think that it like took her voice away heartbreak took her voice away
00:40:40Can I confess something because I feel like I need to be transparent
00:40:44When talking to our listeners about any sport that we've watched on TV I watched about
00:40:50Maybe 15 seconds of the game on Friday, not because I want to skip it
00:40:54Okay, and I did watch a bunch of highlights very good of you hand up
00:40:58I planned on being home to watch the game very important game game 5 or excuse me game 4
00:41:04I got my car back from the shop and
00:41:07Guess what? She starts. Oh, I felt like Bruce. I felt like no. No. No, I was I was running some errands
00:41:14Yeah lights work now the turn signal just goes it works but the lever just shifts back and forth
00:41:20So I always have one signal on you can never tell which one it's gonna be
00:41:23But so I I was trying to get home for the game. I
00:41:26I take my car on some errands. So I've got to go to Home Depot get some stuff, whatever
00:41:30I try to start it leaving Home Depot and it didn't start again
00:41:35Then my car was busted and now I'm like, what the fuck do I do? And then I fixed it myself
00:41:40I I went I got gas at a gas station and I can and I brought it back
00:41:44It was out of gas nice
00:41:46So I feel like I am becoming a car guy
00:41:47But in that time where I had to bike to the gas station by the gas tank bike back
00:41:52Fill the car up then drive to a real gas station to get the tank all the way filled by the time I got back
00:41:58It was past halftime and I just couldn't watch the full game. So hand up. I will admit that
00:42:03Yeah, but I did see the highlights and it wasn't yeah, I looked at the box score. Yeah heavily it wasn't
00:42:09Every you didn't miss anything. It was that much of a blowout and it was
00:42:14Like you could just tell the summer league game for the fourth. Yeah. No, it was they did
00:42:19I have never seen that where it wasn't even it was at the end of the third quarter. Yeah, they were pulling everyone
00:42:26and
00:42:27And who do we have MVP right now?
00:42:31Project Brown. Yeah. Okay. I did see that that Luca has it still it's still though. It's still if
00:42:38Tatum goes off off. He could he could still win it
00:42:41I saw that Luca does have the highest plus-minus of any player in the series. Isn't that crazy? Yeah
00:42:45Well, he's been really good. And then I mean game three he was bad and he got bad fouls, but he's
00:42:53Scoring. I mean every first half he's he's like almost 20 points. Yeah
00:42:58And he played defense on Friday he did he moved his feet
00:43:01Yeah, I think Wendy will and he did a couple hands ups like yeah, Wendy will go woke a monster in that respect
00:43:09You also should not feel nervous because Kyrie has to play him from the Boston crowd. Mm-hmm, and he's not done well doing that
00:43:15Do we want to do who's back of the week? Yeah or anything else? There might be one other thing we should do. Oh
00:43:22What?
00:43:24What maybe a special guest? Oh, we turn my max. We're gonna do it after we're gonna do man
00:43:28I have more stuff to talk about and then he'll do it for him to listen to yeah
00:43:32Like I was gonna bring up the fact that if I'm not gonna do this for who's back of the week
00:43:37but who's back of the week could have been
00:43:39The Baltimore Orioles because the Philadelphia Phillies finally played a real team and the Orioles kicked the shit out of them. Yeah
00:43:46But that yeah, Max is actually listening. He got he couldn't get his flight back because
00:43:52He's like Rory. He just took his ball and went home
00:43:55But we told him take notes and after the interviews
00:43:58we'll have him do Max's minute where he can correct anything that we say that's wrong, but I
00:44:03Saw a report saying that he was crying after Thursday's show. Max was crying. He was crying during Thursday's show crying during Thursday's show and
00:44:12So we'll get any corrections to that. Listen Orioles kicked the shit out of the Philly. They beat the shit out of them
00:44:17It was fucked. They got throttled. They throttled them and also the
00:44:23Apparently the Philadelphia Waterdogs didn't have a good showing this weekend either our team sucks. I think we should fire Max
00:44:29I watched both we lost in overtime from both games not from the podcast from from whatever role he has with the Waterdogs
00:44:35Yeah, he's he's a big-time loser. Max has been fired from the Philadelphia Waterdogs Saturday's game
00:44:41we scored with like a second left and it was so thrilling and then they went I went to take a piss and
00:44:47Overtime started and we had already lost I came back and they were celebrating like how did this happen?
00:44:51They showed the replay. They just got the fucking face off and went I didn't know you were allowed to do that
00:44:55I'll tell you how it happened max. Yeah
00:44:57We suck
00:45:00Okay before we do who's back

00:47:56Confirmed what I think a lot of people already kind of knew or speculating about did you know?
00:48:01Yeah, I know. Why don't you tell us? I did. Why don't you tell us on the show? Why don't you the listeners?
00:48:07You could have had that I'm not gonna talk about the coach's personal business
00:48:10I don't know if I found out when Hank found out and
00:48:12Yeah, I was I was expecting Hank to bring it up at some point Wow
00:48:17That's not my business to put out
00:48:21From the listeners, that's I hear she's a lovely lady. Well. I actually read some stuff about her
00:48:30Can I share would you have it? No, okay?
00:48:34TMZ article
00:48:36Instagram oh you went to do you follow her I do now, okay good good
00:48:43according to one of
00:48:45Hudson's what's-her-name Jordan Hudson Hudson according to one of Hudson's former cheerleading teammates Hudson first met the
00:48:5272 year old on a flight from Boston area bound for Florida way back in 2021 and bonded
00:48:59Over a philosophy project the student-athlete had been working on
00:49:03We're told they swapped contact information after landing and stayed friendly through the ensuing months
00:49:09Discussing her schoolwork and the X's and O's of her cheerleading routines
00:49:13They bonded over her homework philosophy homework. Yeah her homework
00:49:18Bill helped her with her homework
00:49:22Yeah, yeah listen a yeah, how old is she?
00:49:26He loves studying film he loves being prepared that's like his entire mo
00:49:30I'm not judging. I'm just saying it's beautiful that they bonded over her homework
00:49:34I think Plato was the original guy that said do your job. Yeah, right?
00:49:39Right what is what is the film room if not, but a cave there it is
00:49:43That's all you know is the the dancing flickers of light in front of you showing your tight end
00:49:48Laying a block on a weak side linebacker becomes your reality. Yes, you have no idea about the outside world
00:49:55It goes on to say Belichick was spotted rooting her on at a cheerleading competition in March
00:50:01Mm-hmm. I did homework and cheerleading competition
00:50:03I did hear bill might have maybe missed a a couple team events to go to a cheerleading practice
00:50:09But he didn't miss his girlfriend's cheerleading practice. It's very important. Yeah, okay, and then finally we're told Hudson an
00:50:17Entrepreneur and philosopher, that's good. That's a good combo
00:50:21Has even begun helping Belichick with his business endeavors
00:50:26That's good. Beautiful. I know just reading from the article. I'm not saying I'm not editorializing any of this
00:50:32I'm just reading the words from the article
00:50:34Probably start doing a podcast or something. It's beautiful. Sounds good. Great
00:50:38That's an entrepreneur philosopher and they bought it over homework in her cheerleading practice entrepreneur
00:50:44Philosopher and cheerleader cheer all rolled into one sounds like it sounds like quite a catch for both triple threat
00:50:49Yeah, triple threat and how old is he?
00:50:5272 but age is just enough 71. No, it says 72 right here. It's not it's probably not like even a physical thing
00:50:58They probably were just attracted to each other's minds. Mm-hmm at first. Well, she was probably she probably thought he was hot homework
00:51:04Yeah, anytime you can bond over homework. Do you think do you think she got good grades on that homework?
00:51:09Do you never asked you never asked someone for help, you know on on your on a flight?
00:51:15On homework, no. Yeah, just whatever they're working on. I've never asked anybody for help on a flight. Um, no
00:51:20I'm always in control on a flight
00:51:22Usually I'm in the exit row and I have not had a single fatality under my watch
00:51:26You think she was like like pounding?
00:51:29What's wrong? I just can't figure out my homework
00:51:34What is life
00:51:36Let me take a look at that
00:51:38Listen Belichick's just live his life. I'm not judging at all. It's just you can't tell me those
00:51:43Sentences weren't at least a little funny. Oh, no, it's very funny
00:51:47I found it over homework at Julie. I imagined him like looking over at her at her book. Not even at her
00:51:53He doesn't even realize who she is. He just looks over was that Nietzsche and then they lock eyes and then they're like
00:51:59Oh my god, love at first sight
00:52:01Do you think they have a big calendar in their kitchen? It like says like Oh Jordan's cheerleading practice today. I don't know
00:52:09Oh
00:52:11Homework she got schoolwork school project coming up. What's your name?
00:52:15Jordan, Jordan with an O at the end though two O's. Oh, that's that's red flag. That's red flag Hank follows
00:52:22Any any name that has a weird misspelling like that or ends in an I do you think red flag you up from school today?
00:52:29Jordan Hudson, let's see. What kind of entrepreneur is she?
00:52:33Philosopher entrepreneur
00:52:34It actually says right now for us for entrepreneur glamorous Girl Scout aren't all entrepreneurs just the same
00:52:40It's not just a blanket statement
00:52:42What?
00:52:43Entrepreneur, what do you mean? Is it blanket statement? Like it doesn't need to be a type of entrepreneur now you're getting philosophical
00:52:49Yeah, now you're getting real bill would love this conversation like anyone that
00:52:55If anything is not you know, if you start a business you're an entrepreneur, I want to know what her business is, right? I
00:53:01Think she she might just have the entrepreneurial spirit. Mm-hmm. That could very much be what happened here. Oh
00:53:09He's on a it was on a let's see more recently bill was seen in March at one of her competitions and is reported to have
00:53:16Accompanied her on a business trip to Croatia. So she's doing business deals in Croatia. Yeah, that's legit
00:53:23Yeah, I'm happy for bill. He seems like he's very happy. Does he not very happy? Yeah, so we should be supportive
00:53:28She was almost miss Maine. Oh
00:53:30That's pretty good. That's not a bad state
00:53:33And she but she was murder, but almost she competed in miss Maine miss Maine participant
00:53:40Okay, so
00:53:42Finalist for miss me. She was she was a competitor in miss Maine. Okay. Okay. She was the co-main event co-main event. Yeah
00:53:50Well, you're saying I think she looks like an outstanding young woman. Yeah, me too. She's a birder to a birder. Oh, she birds
00:53:57What is that
00:53:59You you don't know bird. You don't know wing. She just looks at birds. Yeah listens to birds. Oh, no
00:54:04It's more about Hank doesn't know what it is either. Oh, yes, it is. It's your bird watching not bird listening
00:54:09No, but you listen I had it
00:54:10I had a science but that's not the main event the main event is watching and he would just take us out
00:54:15He was just out in the woods. All right, ready? This is what you're gonna hear
00:54:22Yeah, what was that what was that he was a bird fanatic
00:54:25I wish I was more into birds and could tell you all right, you know what?
00:54:28We're gonna get let's get a birder on the show this summer. That's a perfect summer guest
00:54:33You know what? I want a birder in in in studio. We'll do I want to interview a birder and then we'll have
00:54:40PM TV will go listen to some birds go birds. Yeah go birds
00:54:43So Hank you just said that your burrax would love this thing your bird teacher
00:54:47Was my science teacher was a but he was a birder
00:54:50But he was saying that this is the sound and that's how you identify them by the sound
00:54:54But the only reason you're figuring out what sound is so that you can look at that bird, right? Oh, that's a whippoorwill
00:55:00I've never seen a whippoorwill. Where is it? It's about watching the birds. It's not about listening. Well, we'll find out combination
00:55:06I think it's
00:55:07You check it off
00:55:08Do you check it off your little bird list if you're in the woods and you hear a goldfinch and how I kept just heard
00:55:12That one no look at the but it has to be at least as somewhat about hearing it
00:55:16I almost saw a goldfinch. No, we'll find out them interact. Yeah, we'll find out you want to hear them talk
00:55:22We'll find out. Hey, none of us are experts. You're kind of sounding like yeah, you're a
00:55:26Judgment. Yeah, you are. I'm not being
00:55:29Like you're an expert. We'll talk to an expert. Okay. It has to be at least a little bit of sound
00:55:33Oh, yeah, you use the sound but the point of using the sound is he's an expert. I'm an expert
00:55:38Wait, is she a birder? Yeah, I guess so in her Instagram. Okay. All right, that's good
00:55:44Okay. All right PFT. She sounds very nice. Very nice. I'm happy for coach. Yep, and
00:55:50His philosopher girlfriend me too. Good luck on all homework
00:55:55My who's back the week is Caitlyn Clark Angel Reese arguments. Yeah, I don't think that we should do a
00:56:01Discussion on this because it sucks and also it was just a regular
00:56:05It sucks. It was it was a flagrant one. Yeah, but she went for the ball and hit her head
00:56:09I know like whatever if you want to if you want to hear what Caitlyn Clark has to say about she said it was just
00:56:16She you could see where she tries to hit the ball misses the ball and then hits her with her elbow on her head
00:56:22That play happens all the time in basketball. Yeah, so so get ready
00:56:26You know what?
00:56:27We haven't even gotten to the Monday takes because there's a lot of people out there that are
00:56:30I'm over there writing their columns over writing their columns right now about this and what what Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese means to America
00:56:38and then there was the other side being like Caitlyn Clark has a
00:56:41Responsibility to stand up and speak out against people who are speaking on her back
00:56:47Everyone just shut the fuck up. Do you see the article that I'm happy? She'd make the Olympic team at this point
00:56:52Yeah, we get a break. Yeah, we get a break. I want a break
00:56:56The WNBA loses like 20 million dollars a year. I think it's more now too. They had a yeah, they're reporting
00:57:03Yeah, they came out with the report and it's like gotten worse year over year. This is why we can't have nice things
00:57:09Yeah, I need a break. I need a break. I need a timeout. I'm asking for a timeout
00:57:13I'm either who's back of the week plug God the dozen. Oh, he doesn't tournaments this week
00:57:18So I'm competing in the dozen on the experts big cats competing on the yak Hank. You're you're still competing
00:57:25You're still on that team. We're gonna champ. Okay. I didn't know that you were still on the team
00:57:29They've been actually the second highest score on the team the defending champion team. Yeah, that's amazing
00:57:34As your team one we were in the finals the last two years. Oh, how about that nice this feels like the year
00:57:40This feels like keep talking Hank. I hope they ask a question about birds and you don't know it Jake's on a team
00:57:45Jake's on a team giant XYZ. We play tonight. Who do you play 740 Eastern Time? We play the booze ponies
00:57:52Okay, the real real mental Giants. Yeah, I'm the booze ponies when he plays big cat in the act
00:57:57Yeah, okay, and who do you play big cat the winner? Okay, so you have a bye. Yeah
00:58:02Yeah, we were the second ranked team. We're playing macro dosing you have a bye. Yeah. Wow. You're one of the top four teams
00:58:08Yeah, fuck. Yeah, that's really you guys said one of the top four records this year
00:58:12We have a bio or the top 14. So that must mean surely that a chance top four records
00:58:16Yeah, you did have one of the top four records
00:58:20They have or did you just get the league to write you guys?
00:58:23I don't know how the divisions work in conference as true
00:58:26Breakers like that gets confusing
00:58:28But yeah, the winner of macro dosing verse the experts plays against Hank and the Hankettes nice
00:58:34So I'm really looking forward to that minute hand Hank is the second light leading score. Mm-hmm
00:58:40Kirk
00:58:41Holds up Hank Hank holds up Rico. Thank you. Thank you. Hank is a trivia. God
00:58:46Yeah, pretty much captain the team to buy. Yeah, I've been to a chair. Yeah
00:58:51What I'm excited you've been to a championship I want to change it my first year what yeah me
00:58:59Yeah, yeah, that's right you have that was why Hank just kept showing up he's like I can't believe I'm still here
00:59:05All right. I have two who's backs. The first is
00:59:09British people complaining about normal temperatures
00:59:11So, I don't know if you saw but in England this maybe was over the weekend or the next couple days
00:59:18They're gonna reach a high of 26 degrees Celsius and it's gonna stay that hot for 48 hours
00:59:2526 degrees Celsius is Hank guess
00:59:3096 78
00:59:34And I
00:59:35So I was like this can't be real
00:59:37I was gonna say 20 that seems low, but if they're complaining already, it's gotta be apparently all of England doesn't have air conditioning
00:59:45I didn't realize that that's the big complaint that they just don't have air conditioning
00:59:49Yeah, which go on fucking Amazon and buy some air buy an air conditioning unit one two
00:59:5678 degrees is almost that's like maybe four degrees hotter than my perfect weather
01:00:02Yeah, 78 degrees is is wonderful degrees outside. It's perfect. It is almost perfect
01:00:08It does stink though. If you get above like 75 inside your own apartment, that's bad
01:00:13Of course, just go outside where it's beautiful out. It does feel for some reason 78 degrees outside. It feels awesome
01:00:2078 degrees inside feels like you're in hell. Correct? What's the difference?
01:00:24But just I will cuz there's probably a breeze you get the breeze. So just open your window
01:00:30Yeah, you can open the window and open your window at the breeze in I mean, this is
01:00:3478 degrees you can't and maybe we have some British AWS you can explain to me that I also saw some people saying well
01:00:40all of our houses are old and
01:00:43We don't have a see get a new house. Yeah, I don't know fucking move to America. Yeah, how old are we talking about here?
01:00:50I don't know dude. Go. You know what go into a pool
01:00:53Do they don't have pools in England? Yeah, they probably don't they definitely don't they definitely don't pools
01:00:57They have fountains. They have a lot of fun that you can go look at
01:01:00Yeah, right
01:01:00But you don't have a pool that you take your shirt off and your pasty white body gets just fried to a crisp
01:01:0578 degrees is crazy. And then my other who's back is Jimmy Carter
01:01:09Jimmy Carter who it was reported the other day that Jimmy Carter is no longer awake every day
01:01:17Grandson says okay, isn't that just dead? So he's back. No, not every he's not awake every day, but he's not not away
01:01:23He's that he's just not awake
01:01:25Is he dead every I'll play this way every time Nick Castellanos hits a home run
01:01:30I am terrified that Jimmy Carter news about to happen. I'm not there's no terrified left
01:01:37He's not awake every day. The guy just let him die. He's been in hospice for like a year and a half
01:01:43I actually would be pissed if I was his wife
01:01:45That like you die and then it's like did you not even love me?
01:01:48You're supposed to die right away after your your longtime wife died
01:01:51She died like 16 months ago, and he's just been not awake every day since yeah big team made a great point
01:01:56He said that uh, Jimmy Carter started to come back to life once he stopped building houses when he was like 98 years old
01:02:02Yeah, it's like once you take a break then it's like oh, yeah, maybe I'm not about to die
01:02:06Maybe I was just working out in the Sun putting roofs on apartments all day. Yeah, this it's great, dude
01:02:12He their pictures of him. He actually could probably run for president with the way everything's been going
01:02:16I mean right now the picture of not awake every day
01:02:19No problem him his wife and the Biden's together as well at all-time pictures this one picture of him in a wheelchair
01:02:26He's not awake in that. Hey, come on. We got to let Jimmy go. We got to let Jimmy go
01:02:30This is cruel Jimmy Carter. Don't wait. Here's an idea grandson. Don't wake him up
01:02:35Next time he's not awake for a day. Don't wake him up the next day
01:02:39Let him go. Yeah, don't don't be like hey, hey
01:02:42Pop-up wake up. No, no
01:02:45Just let him sleep forever
01:02:47That's what it's called Jimmy Carter on the hap Jimmy Carter was president. Yeah, much much much much better person
01:02:55Yeah outstanding person
01:02:57Sure way better person. I don't know but just having a report being like dudes not awake every day. Mm-hmm
01:03:03That's fucking crazy
01:03:05he's like the guy from
01:03:06Inception like when they just
01:03:09Go and sleep all day in the little den
01:03:12Anything in the matrix?
01:03:14No, they're gonna inception. I think he's thinking of the major den plug him in
01:03:17You know, you're that major. He's an avatar
01:03:21Are you thinking avatar or the matrix? No avatar was what they called you in the matrix, right?
01:03:27So which one are you thinking of?
01:03:29I've never seen the matrix what?
01:03:34Hank everyone has one
01:03:36I've said no, I know I know what happens red pill blue pill and well now you don't
01:03:42You don't I eat the bugs. I have I have a general understanding of what happens. We have never seen it
01:03:48I heard a nasty rumor
01:03:49That big cat eats bugs. I will never eat. I heard there are people saying every
01:03:55People saying online that you're call me bug bug cat. Yeah barstool, but I'll never eat the bugs
01:03:59We also forgot you out. I said last week you'd eat the bug
01:04:02I know I never said I said I drink the bugs in the cicada malort shot. That's what they want you to do first step
01:04:07Jake
01:04:08My who's back is retiring on live television because that is what Charles Barkley announced late Friday night
01:04:15There was a lot of speculation about the future of NBA on TNT inside the NBA
01:04:19We have one more year and after that it's over he is going to be off of television no matter what happened
01:04:25I don't buy it. I don't buy it. I don't buy it. He's too good. That's just what you say the end of the year
01:04:31He's just doing he's he said a million different things. He's like, well, maybe I'll just hire everyone and we'll have a new
01:04:37We'll bring it over here. Maybe I'll retire. Maybe what he's just I love Charles Barkley. I love love love Charles Barkley
01:04:44I don't buy it
01:04:45Charles Barkley could talk about anything on TV and I would watch it doesn't matter what it could be
01:04:49He could do a recap show for summer house. I don't buy it. He could do baseball and he doesn't prep
01:04:55He watches I don't yeah, there's no way he preps right? No, that's what I'm saying. But that's what makes him so electric, right?
01:05:01No, but you watch I think he watches and he probably like writes down on a piece of paper like terrible
01:05:06Yeah, he do what he did. What did he do it when he went?
01:05:10Did he do it when he did the hockey game? No, he was on the NBA TV postgame show
01:05:17Yeah, did you guys see the difference between the hockey desk that ESPN has for the hockey desk for the
01:05:24Stanley Cup finals and then the NBA desk. No NBA finals. It's fucking hilarious
01:05:29Look at this. Look at these two tests. Oh, yeah. Well, we can't see the front of the desk in the hockey
01:05:34We just see the top. Oh
01:05:38It's a bad desk, it's so good the difference is very very
01:05:44They got the trophy there, yeah
01:05:46Shut up people accurate for finding that
01:05:50noticing that
01:05:51Unbelievable. I mean that I don't even think they brought that desk. That's just that's Edmonton desk. Yeah, that was there
01:05:58That's built into the stadium. Yeah, the boys were whooping it up
01:06:03biz
01:06:04Manhandled the guy at the game. I don't know if you saw that. I did see that. Yeah, holy shit
01:06:09He looked like he was full of energy. Yeah, but yeah, Jake, I don't buy it. I just don't we'll see
01:06:14I mean, I'm not that's not I just I saw it
01:06:17I would love for it to continue and I just think Charles is just kind of saying whatever right now
01:06:21I think that he in the moment. He's like, yeah, I'm rich. I don't want to work my whole life
01:06:27I'll just be done in a year and then he'll go off the air for maybe a little bit and then he'll get offered a
01:06:32Giant contract to talk about anything. He'll be like, yeah, you know what? It's kind of fun. Just talking on camera
01:06:38Also, just play this out for a second, right?
01:06:41NBC got NBA. Is that right? I think that's what okay. So NBC's got NBA
01:06:47Charles Barkley's out of a job
01:06:49NBA what NBC's wants Charles Barkley to do inside the NBA on NBC
01:06:55Who who is like Charles Barkley bidding who they bidding against no one. Well now they're bidding against Charles Barkley retirement
01:07:03Yeah, that's that's it
01:07:05Charles Barkley can't leave if NBC has all the rights to the NBA and that's where the show is gonna be
01:07:10They'll be like, hey Charles, we're gonna pay you ten million dollars a year. He'd be like no
01:07:15Like they know that he has to either do that or not. But now he's like, oh, I'm gonna retire now
01:07:20It's a bit against me just not working anymore
01:07:21I would love to see them do a little cross pollination with their football desk and have it be Tony Dungy and Charles Barkley
01:07:28Oh at the same time on a desk Charles trying to talk to Tony about big women in San Antonio
01:07:33Yeah, I was watching Tony Dungy just cry and shame. Yeah, that would be good. They'd be a great buddy cop. Yeah

01:09:21Okay, we now welcome on a very special guest. He was there at Pinehurst
01:09:26Number two for the u.s. Open on the call on the NBC
01:09:30Coverage it is smiley Kaufman. He also has a podcast and go check it out right now
01:09:34It's called the smiley show for more golf takes
01:09:38Smiley first of all, thank you for joining us. You're driving right now from Pinehurst to
01:09:43Charlotte so we appreciate you joining us. Yes. What's up boys? Thank you for having me on and
01:09:50That was some epic TV. I must say it was pretty fun and to be a part of something like that
01:09:55I guess I kind of now know what it feels like to be a Chicago Bears fan
01:10:01Out there for Rory did not like yeah, it was a tough scene, man
01:10:05It was just hard to watch but epic theater for golf man. Yes. Yeah, are you okay?
01:10:10Were you in the parking lot when Rory peeled out and and mowed down several spectators?
01:10:15It looked like it was a violent gruesome scene there after the after the tournament was over
01:10:19Yeah, it looked like shooter McGavin leaving after he lost to her championship to happy Gilmore
01:10:25Yeah, I
01:10:27Mean it sucks man. Like the guy was right there. He hadn't won in ten years at a major
01:10:33it was just right there for the taking and
01:10:36God, it's just so hard to win majors, but I feel like that was the most agonizing way for him to ever
01:10:44Lose one again because he hasn't necessarily been
01:10:47Super close besides the st. Andrews open championship where he had 18 two putts in one round
01:10:54So it's I just feel for Rory but mad Bryson hit an epic bunker shot on 18
01:10:59And the guy is just the content king for if we're being
01:11:03For being I mean looking at this guy. He's unbelievable. Yeah
01:11:06Yeah, so so I know we won't we want to talk about Bryson because he is the winner
01:11:10but I think most times when you have a
01:11:13Collapse like that the loser gets talked about a good deal because it's it's a little bit more interesting in the moment
01:11:19so Rory is
01:11:21eight under
01:11:23going to the 14th and
01:11:25What happened in the end missing two putts, you know four feet in in
01:11:31Like how how does that happen? I guess is really like
01:11:35How does that happen? And is that one of the most painful we know some of the most painful major losses, you know
01:11:42Greg Norman van de Velde all those things
01:11:44But this one feels like it might be up there in the Mount Rushmore of painful chokes
01:11:49just because of where he was four holes earlier and how he had been playing and the in the ten years that you mentioned and
01:11:56To have it go down like that. It is that is an epic epic like loss for Rory
01:12:02100% I mean the only other one I could think of a recent memory
01:12:06That we still talk about that
01:12:08I went you was a part of was the final round in
01:12:122016 at the Masters where Jordan had you know, he had a four shot lead in the back nine
01:12:17it makes a seven at number 12 and and Danny will it goes on to win that one was
01:12:23Agonizing to watch I was agonizing. I'm sure for for Jordan and then Rory today
01:12:29But uh, dude, I can't think of any other golf event. That was that
01:12:34Entertaining over the last decade besides maybe the Jordan
01:12:38Masters one it was just and how does it happen? How do you miss those spots?
01:12:4216 was I felt like inexcusable that one to me was an easy to putt
01:12:48I don't know what happened on the on his three-footer that he missed
01:12:53Because he typically doesn't he's really good inside of three feet. He's not somebody I was worried about
01:12:58I was actually walking away and I was like, oh my god, he missed it
01:13:01I just didn't even come into my mind that missing that pot was a
01:13:06Possibility and then
01:13:0818 was a
01:13:09Actually a really interesting putt on 18 because I got behind and looked at it. I saw like inside left left center and
01:13:16I'd heard from max who you guys obviously have on all the time
01:13:21he had told JT that he hit that putt in the practice round and
01:13:24Said it's a really weird putt because if you get it started too far out on the left the grain keeps it there
01:13:30But if you start it inside the hole it like breaks off the planet and that's exactly what happened
01:13:34So it was a it was a really tough putt that he had but I mean after Bryson hit in the bunker
01:13:41I felt like we were going to you know, the aggregate scorecard or that not scorecard play of aggregate
01:13:47To whole playoff and Bryce had just got up there and just hit an unreal shot. Yeah
01:13:52Yeah
01:13:53Yeah
01:13:53and you said it I think on the broadcast which made it such great theater going down the stretch that it felt like match play
01:13:59Because of the way Pinehurst is is set up that like Rory was
01:14:03Looking back and seeing where Bryson would end up before he would tee off on some holes
01:14:08How was that? How was that all breaking down even so I even heard it might not have been you but someone said that Rory
01:14:13Hit like kind of went fast on one of the greens to putt in so that you get the roar right before
01:14:19Bryson had to take a difficult shot. Like how was that all set up from your point of view?
01:14:22It started on the ninth hole exactly what you just said and Bryson had it a long left at eight
01:14:28it was gonna have a really difficult up and down and
01:14:32Rory and Bryson kind of looked at each other and and Bryson
01:14:37I thought was gonna go but Rory was not about to let Bryson hit a chip shot first
01:14:42He wanted to make the putt to let him know that he just made birdie and then Bryson hit an incredible chip
01:14:48It ends up getting up and down and that's when I was like, oh boy
01:14:51we're in for some some good stuff on the back nine and then it just seemed like a back-and-forth of
01:14:58Roars on the back nine, which I
01:15:01Think going into the day we love we wanted for Bryson and Rory to be in the same group
01:15:06but it worked out way better this way because
01:15:09Each person was waiting on each other Rory
01:15:13Pretty much watched every single shot that Bryson hit on that back nine outside of a couple
01:15:18Because he he would look back and saw exactly what he was was doing and he knew where he stood and that's
01:15:26It's it makes it that much that heart that much more heart-wrenching
01:15:31That uh, he knew what he had to do and just wasn't able to get it done
01:15:34It also sounds like maybe the wrong strategy to by Rory because it got in his own head
01:15:39Like he was feeling all the pressure in the world
01:15:41He's missing two of those putts and maybe he should have been paying that close attention to what Bryson was doing
01:15:46But he's like timing out his shots to make sure that he can get the roar before Bryson
01:15:50I don't know. It seems like it's it's not a usual strategy to take so I'm not it ended up not being that effective but
01:15:57when it comes to Bryson strategy, it seemed like his his way of breaking down this golf course was just basically like hit the fuck out
01:16:05of the ball and
01:16:06Hope that you get a great lie in the native areas
01:16:09like don't be afraid of the native areas and just hope that you luck out and it doesn't land up like in a bush and
01:16:15It worked out pretty well for him, but do you think do you think he was just kind of taking a reckless
01:16:20strategy towards the whole thing where he was like, I'm just gonna hit it long and
01:16:24Hope that the lie turns out well for me
01:16:27Yeah, no, it's totally you're right
01:16:29I mean there was definitely a element of luck involved this week at Pioneer summer to the native areas man
01:16:35Like for the most part all week
01:16:38Guys were able to hit out of it and kind of get it up near the green
01:16:41I think Bryson only had to pitch out one time that I can remember. So there was a huge element of luck
01:16:47I think there needs to probably be be like have more of that like crazy grass out there
01:16:53Because there wasn't maybe enough of a penalty for some of the shots that Bryson was hitting today
01:16:59Because Rory drove the absolute crap out of it today. And
01:17:03Yeah, I mean Bryson hits the shit out of it. Yeah, so does Rory
01:17:06They both had averaged like 340 yards off the tee, which is just insane to think about
01:17:13But uh, yeah, I mean
01:17:16He's he's a big man like he's he's fun to watch in person
01:17:20He's fun to watch on TV and he just wears his emotions on his sleeve
01:17:24And I don't think we've had a golfer like that that I can think of in a long time
01:17:29That is just built for TV. He's just box office Bryce, man
01:17:34He you know what he is and I've seen some people were making this I'm not taking credit for this
01:17:39But people were saying that he's the second coming of Phil where you when Phil was at his height Phil was very
01:17:45You know, he was emotional. He would he would wear it on his sleeve his interviews were interesting
01:17:51It's like he is like the the 2024 YouTube version of Phil Mickelson. Yeah, it's a good point you make and in some some ways
01:17:59yes, they are similar and I think that
01:18:03Bryson's goofier. Yeah, and Phil I think is much more of like a
01:18:08Know it all if you will. Yeah, I think it's the best way to kind of describe Phil
01:18:12But he's Phil was like expert in mind games and and being able to kind of get
01:18:18not only in his own head, but in other people's heads and and how he kind of
01:18:23Worked his way around a golf course and how he treated the media
01:18:27Bryson's been interesting man, like
01:18:30We need to have like a 30 for 30 on how somebody can leave the PGA Tour and
01:18:36I would say that majority of the people were over
01:18:41Bryson
01:18:42but they enjoyed watching him play golf but as as like the person and and the person to
01:18:49Like actually root for I think he was had more
01:18:53It was probably closer to 50-50 whether people rooted for him or not
01:18:57and so it's it's wild to me now he goes to the live golf to her and
01:19:04somehow he's become this
01:19:07unbelievably well-liked guy and
01:19:1090% of the dudes that have gone to the live golf tour have become not well-liked. So it's it's it's just wild
01:19:17How this is like totally turned in his direction
01:19:20I think you got a point to his content all the stuff that he's done
01:19:24Off the golf course, his social channels are just insane. He's leaning into his audience and
01:19:30And then the TV too. He's just he's just fun to watch
01:19:33I also think it might be one of the cases where he's the one guy where less is more
01:19:37Yeah, don't have to watch him every single week. He becomes a lot more
01:19:42palatable and interesting where it's like it's worked to hit like
01:19:45Overexposure might be a thing for him and he can find his own audience online
01:19:49Which that's you know, people are opting into that
01:19:51But if he was there and on your TV every single Sunday, you'd be like, maybe I don't love this guy
01:19:55So maybe live was he's the only one who's kind of one on live
01:19:58They don't have they don't have microphones on the course that can pick up you complaining to a rules official about ants being new
01:20:03Hey, right, they're like getting broadcast that getting hit. Remember when he got hit by the that rope was
01:20:10That was a very violent. Yeah
01:20:14Stared at the road could put that rope there
01:20:16Yeah
01:20:17I had one question about Bryson in his game today because it was it looked like it was he was gonna lose it and
01:20:23It was like I thought going into today
01:20:25There was with the way the course was playing if he shoots, you know, even par he should win and that's about I think he shot
01:20:31Plus one today, but
01:20:33What happened with his driver? So his driver caved in in practice and then he had to use another driver
01:20:39So you obviously, you know, you you're a professional you were professional golfer, you know, all these guys
01:20:44Is it that different when you're like I need to now use a different driver and how long does it take to get comfortable with
01:20:49It because it clearly he didn't have the same
01:20:53Accuracy on his driver today. Yeah, I heard that
01:20:55He said that he can't he couldn't turn over the driver today and then like I think the on the front line
01:21:01He was leaving everything out to the right and then he was over correcting on the back nine
01:21:05But yeah, it's a big deal not to have your gamer, you know
01:21:08He was driving that driver so well, and I heard he flat his face
01:21:13Most of the time guys crack the face and that's when they change out to new drivers when I hear flatten the face
01:21:20I actually think about his his drivers. It's called like bulge and roll and nobody else has whatever the heck that even means
01:21:27It's based. It's it's a curvature of the face and it's the best way to explain it. It's like it's like an autocorrect
01:21:35So if you hit it in the heel, it starts further left
01:21:38You hit in the toe it starts for the right and I think his flattened to where it was less of a curve and
01:21:45I guess he noticed it on the range pre round and
01:21:49Changed out his head and then went out to the course was something that he probably is
01:21:53Maybe maybe he had used that head before but most likely not
01:21:57So it was definitely a probably a an uneasy feeling especially with Rory getting off to a good start birding one
01:22:05but
01:22:06It's just
01:22:07You couldn't make up today man, like the story lines today from start to finish were just epic
01:22:12Yeah
01:22:13I feel like the content game helped him out with that too because he does a lot of wacky shit like that where he's like
01:22:18I see if I can break par using a set of rented clubs that I just got like five minutes before and
01:22:24So now I mean if we really want to stay woke on it
01:22:27Maybe there were some cameras going behind the scenes and we're gonna see like the entire he's like, oh no, my drivers broken
01:22:34Can I win the US Open?
01:22:36US Open on day four with a brand new driver. It's a mr. Beast challenge
01:22:41And it's a driver that he's been practicing with for like six months and he knows inside and out but he's acting like this
01:22:46I'm just very woke on Bryce and I do I have kind of like I'm happy for Bryson's fans today for the people like
01:22:52Diehard Bryson content guys good for them. He's he's creative. He does some fun stuff and he is more likable
01:22:58I do think big cats, right?
01:22:59Actually, I was thinking that earlier that like you don't get to see Bryson all the time
01:23:03So you don't get inundated with all the all the real corny stuff that he does, right?
01:23:07But you do get to see him and he looks like he's happy and it's easy to root for a guy who's who's genuinely happy
01:23:12I'm mad at Rory though. I'm pissed off. I think that all
01:23:16Amateur golfers all people that golf for fun should be really angry with Rory today
01:23:20Because he just made the length of a gimme putt so much longer because now if it's inside Rory range
01:23:27You're gonna have to putt that out
01:23:28I've never missed a putt inside four feet before because they say just pick it up and I'm like, yes
01:23:33I will pick that up now. You don't get those gimme's anymore. So that's a I'm I'm upset with Rory
01:23:38I think we all have a right to be upset with him after his performance today
01:23:41Well said well said, you know, it's kind of crazy about Rory today, too
01:23:45Is is we're gonna remember the miss putts at 16. We're gonna remember the miss putt at 18
01:23:52But what we're gonna forget is how well he put it today. He made everything today
01:23:57He made every important putt he had to make all the way up until the 16th hole
01:24:02But history doesn't unfortunately isn't gonna be kind to him on that and
01:24:08It's it's gotta be just such a tough tough feeling driving away from the golf course apparently peeling out
01:24:17Through his clubs, so all right, so
01:24:20Talking about the putting you're there. Can you explain to us in in layman's terms?
01:24:26You know our listeners who've never played pioneers a US Open course, obviously neither of we know we pretty much did
01:24:32We pretty much did we played mid pines once?
01:24:35But like the greens putting also, I love the fact that if you hit it in the wrong spot the ball just rolls forever
01:24:44What does that look like when you're standing there? And how just how difficult is it for?
01:24:50The guys who are the best in the world at golf, you know, it's just scary
01:24:54It's just you know
01:24:55It's an upside-down salad bowl is basically what most of the greens look like and when you get the firmness and the speed in which
01:25:01These greens played like this week. They're just they're just daunting even standing from the fairway
01:25:07Looking at the green. It looks like you have nowhere to hit it and
01:25:11I think you saw some of the best iron players in the world make shaky swings because they literally have a
01:25:18Hula-hoop that they're trying to land the golf ball and to keep it to get it close to the hole most of the time
01:25:23We saw guys bail out
01:25:25To to the place to where you could maybe get it up and down
01:25:29but
01:25:30When you get on the greens
01:25:32You can make some putts if you got below the hole
01:25:34The problem is when they stick to the flag sticks on the corners of the green you can't get below the hole
01:25:40so you have all these, you know big breaking pots lag pots that are really difficult and
01:25:45Some of the ones coming down the stretch it looks like when you get that back hole locations on some of these greens
01:25:51It looks like you're about to putt it over a cliff
01:25:54And so most of the time it looked you you end up coming up short on most of your big lag pots from about 40 feet
01:26:02Because you know if you hammer it you're gonna have to go hit a 40-yard wedge shot on some of them. So
01:26:08Rightfully said these guys are leaving, you know, these putts four or five feet short and giving themselves, you know
01:26:14Putts they have to make for par in which I thought today a lot of the guys really handled those those
01:26:20tricky lag pots really well and
01:26:24Even the one on 16
01:26:25It was a good pot that where he hit the first one and just had a brain lapse on the second one
01:26:30I I can't explain what happened. What's the what's the shortest putt you've ever missed?
01:26:36I missed a pot from probably
01:26:39six inches away and
01:26:41I'll tell you what happened. It's you know, if you're ever playing in the morning when it's dewy and
01:26:48The golf ball collects kind of some sand or collects a little bit of dew on it
01:26:52And a lot of times players will mark clean the golf ball and tap in when you know
01:26:57There's some moisture sand on the ball
01:26:59And so I go to tap it in not realizing that was on it and I hit it maybe an inch in front of me
01:27:04It it didn't even it didn't even feel like I made impact. That's how much water and sand was on the golf ball. So for me
01:27:13Something around the six inches range. Damn. Yeah, I do
01:27:16It's very funny that you bring up the sad about about Rory's putting actually being very good today
01:27:21Like anybody will ever remember that that's a bit like in real life besides that. How was the play miss Lincoln?
01:27:27Like he had he had a great day by all objective measures, but then the only thing people remember is those two putts
01:27:34Do you think is?
01:27:36Yeah, it's like not to cut you off. I'm just thinking about
01:27:40Like Russell Wilson
01:27:42the
01:27:44Interception he threw on the two-yard line
01:27:46Like all we remember is that we don't remember hardly the the amazing pass down the sideline
01:27:52to get them into that position to where they had a chance to go and win the game like that that to me is like
01:27:58a pretty
01:27:59Similar scenario where then it's like alright Russell gets down to the two. They don't hand it off
01:28:04That's all we ever remember and talk about. Yeah. Yeah, that's a good comparison
01:28:09Do you think that there's any chance that that Rory can look back on this?
01:28:13I don't know maybe a month two months from now and think like
01:28:17Maybe maybe it was a good thing
01:28:19Maybe it showed me that I can compete like does he get any confidence back whatsoever by being that close to winning another major? Oh
01:28:27Man, that's a good question. Good course what it's been ten years
01:28:32Since you've won a major and you let one slip away
01:28:38Like this happened today because it did slip away it, you know, I think
01:28:45Yes, you he'll remain confident in his game
01:28:48I think this one's gonna sting for a really long time and
01:28:52It won't surprise me to see him pull out of the Travelers this next week. I doubt we'll see him there
01:28:58I'd be shocked if we see him there and
01:29:01yeah, the fifth major there you go the Keegan Bradley invitational and
01:29:04Man, I think we won't see him until maybe the Irish Open or the Scottish Open
01:29:10Three or so weeks from now, you know, he skipped out on media
01:29:14So next time we'll really get to ask him. The question is three weeks from now and
01:29:20we'll see
01:29:22but
01:29:23The Open Championship is his last shot this year
01:29:26but the US Open that's six straight top tens that he's had at a US Open and
01:29:31It's just we keep saying it's a matter of time. But you know it you need some luck to win a major championships
01:29:38you you know, you have to have the opportunities and
01:29:42He just didn't take advantage of his opportunities. It was his time to win today. He just didn't get it done. Yeah. Yeah, so
01:29:50Last question about Bryson that shot he made out of the bunker in 18
01:29:54Can you tell us can you explain to us how difficult that shot was because that was as much as it was
01:30:00As much as it was Rory choking
01:30:03Bryson felt like you know his teeth shot on 18 was bad
01:30:08He's in this really tough spot then he goes to the bunker and then he makes an incredible incredible
01:30:13shot to to save par on 18 and win it outright like what
01:30:19What did that shot look like from where you were standing and how difficult that was?
01:30:22I was probably 15 yards away from him. So I had the best view in the house and
01:30:26I as soon as he hit into that that greenside bunker. I said to my yardage guy. I was like, hey
01:30:33Let's get ready for a playoff with no chance. He's getting this up and down
01:30:36And as soon as he walked into the bunker, there was a I could tell that there was a lot more sand
01:30:42Uh, then then maybe some of the other bunkers on the course, which I thought made the shot even more difficult because more sand
01:30:50It's harder to you know
01:30:52Because at that time a bunch closer you got to hit it to the golf ball
01:30:56Because the further back you take it the shorter it's going to go
01:30:59And I actually tweeted out. I said if it was me hitting in there in that moment
01:31:02I would have sent it over the clubhouse. I mean a 55 yard bunker shot is
01:31:07One of the more difficult shots in the game
01:31:10and and bryson
01:31:12Probably hit a i'd say a gap wedge is probably what he used which is you know
01:31:18somewhere around that 50 to 52 degrees
01:31:21And full swing, you know probably
01:31:24That club entered maybe an inch behind the golf ball and it's a full swing
01:31:28so the fact that he went in there full swing and bringing in literally launching it over the clubhouse and
01:31:36Having the nerve to pull the shot off and get it inside of five feet
01:31:40Was unbelievable. It really was an unbelievable shot. Yeah. Yeah. I'm watching it again. It was crazy the shot that he hit
01:31:47I forget which par three it was he hit an eight iron like 215 yards
01:31:52That was insane just screaming at the ball in the air
01:31:55Uh, that was one of the most impressive golf shots i've ever seen in my life
01:31:59It's uh, you know his iron game is weird because his wafts are
01:32:05Similar it's like if his eight iron is like a normal six iron
01:32:09But it's really fun to say when he has 215 yards and he hits an eight iron
01:32:14It's epic like to say that out loud that somebody's hitting an eight iron from that far away. Yeah, so all week
01:32:21I would get the sign of you know, because we get the uh, the flash
01:32:26Of you know, if it's a nine iron, they flash me a four
01:32:28It's an eight iron. They flash me a three and some of the times i'd be like, are you serious? Like is that right?
01:32:33um
01:32:34and
01:32:36just uh
01:32:37Just epic. Yeah, I mean who doesn't like seeing
01:32:40And seeing that on tv, I don't know. It's the guy's unbelievable. Yeah, so wait, what are what's the deal with his irons?
01:32:47He's got different lofts. So like his eight iron is actually a six iron
01:32:52yeah, it's all because of how hard he hits it and his
01:32:57All the shit he does is really weird. So it's like seven iron link shafts. He's got these jumbo grips
01:33:03Uh, the the y angle is really weird and the what he's trying to do is to get the correct apex height
01:33:09And when he explains it
01:33:11You kind of understand what he's talking about
01:33:13So like i'm gonna give you what I know about it
01:33:15Which is he's just trying to match the flight in which the window that he typically wants a nine and eight iron to fly
01:33:22And once he gets that loft correctly because he hits so much I guess up on the golf ball
01:33:28That's how they settle in on what their nine iron or eight iron loft actually is. Um
01:33:34Yeah
01:33:35it's it's really odd because most guys are
01:33:38You know typical set as you know, uh
01:33:4242 degrees is like a nine iron I think and I think his is, you know closer to
01:33:49shit
01:33:49My math i'm my brain is fried right now
01:33:51So I don't even want to try to figure out what his lofts are but just know that they're two irons off of what?
01:33:57Anybody else's? Yeah, he's like the the uh, terrence howard of golf. It sounds like he just reinvented math. Yeah
01:34:04What it's it's something that y'all should consider though, like, you know, you should probably do it too
01:34:09Because like when you get to a t-box you can just be like, hey, what are you hitting?
01:34:13Yeah, and they'll say i'm hitting seven iron and then you'd be like, oh, well i'm hitting nine iron
01:34:18Yeah, but you're really hitting a seven iron. So it's kind of a play in their heads
01:34:21So what i'll do is i'll take my six iron and i'll just write one little like curve on it. So that's an eight now
01:34:29That's my eight
01:34:31um, all right, so I
01:34:32Smiley this has been awesome. I had a couple last questions
01:34:35Uh, the first was this course this was such a fun weekend of golf and the u.s open is usually
01:34:40Uh this way because it's such a great test and they make it so difficult and it's you know
01:34:44If you look at the leaderboard, there was what there was, uh, like seven seven guys under par
01:34:51And like it's just fun golf to see that test
01:34:54do you think that they should do that more often with some of these tournaments because
01:34:59Birdies are fun eagles are fun. But I think this type of golf is just so much more like exciting
01:35:05Watching guys have to struggle and knowing like hey, here's the deal
01:35:09You have to hit the perfect shot to get a birdie
01:35:11And if you make a little mistake, you're getting a bogey and that's how it should work
01:35:15Yeah, I know the u.s open I think is the one week of the year that fans get to root for the golf course
01:35:21Yeah, you know we root for struggle and it's totally opposite than what we saw for the pga championship
01:35:27at valhalla, which was
01:35:30By the numbers the easiest golf course ever on a major championship with zander winning
01:35:36I believe at 21 under par I think was the final yeah
01:35:39So it's just total opposite where the pga championship was all about how well could you execute?
01:35:44You know, could you be able to just hit the shot that that's called in front of you?
01:35:48Which is not a whole lot of thinking involved versus u.s open
01:35:53Where there's a whole lot of thinking involved in and there's so much to take in and there's all luck involved involved with pinehurst number two
01:36:01And yeah, I I think there's a time and place for it
01:36:04Like last week at the memorial like was a u.s open type of setup
01:36:08And I think a guy like scotty shepherd why he didn't have a good week this week was I think he was worn out
01:36:14For playing back-to-back u.s open type of setups
01:36:17So there's there's times and places for it, but guys don't like
01:36:21playing u.s open style setups every week and I think the fans like
01:36:26Watching putts going for birdie for the most part on most weeks
01:36:30But the u.s open's different man, like as long as the golf course, you know doesn't get out of hand
01:36:35I think and it didn't this week it uh made for some incredible theater and and it
01:36:41You really could tell that the guys on top of the leaderboard were the guys executing at the highest level
01:36:47What is out of hand we were having this debate on thursday
01:36:50What actually we know borderline but what is over the line because it's all it's such a funny concept to me being like
01:36:56No, this golf course is like too mean
01:37:00Well, it starts with weather, you know
01:37:02You got to start with whether if it's if it's blowing like if it's if it was
01:37:06Blowing 20 miles an hour a day. It would have been out of hand
01:37:10It would have been ridiculous because it was only a five to seven mile an hour breeze totally fine
01:37:16um a lot of times hole locations, too
01:37:20you know
01:37:21There's just certain things with course setup that can be just dumb to players where they just get annoyed with like what what is
01:37:29What is the usga trying to get out of this?
01:37:31Uh where I feel like today was a perfect setup
01:37:34I thought it could have been a little bit harder to like I think they could have maybe made it a little bit
01:37:40Uh trickier than they did. Uh
01:37:44But I don't know it
01:37:46I I I think it uh ended up working out. Okay. I mean it was uh
01:37:52I'm, i'm still just in awe of what I witnessed same. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it was shocking
01:37:56Yeah, it was also just when the back nine started you knew that something special was going to happen
01:38:01Did you get that feeling like do you know that in the moment that this is oh, yeah
01:38:05It's going to be an iconic finish of us open
01:38:08Yep. Um, I think it all started on nine green
01:38:11Um, and then 10 with rory making a putt and then patrick making it right after
01:38:16And and then bryson birding 10
01:38:19but really 13 is where
01:38:22I was like
01:38:22This is gonna be so sick down the stretch because rory gets up and down from behind the green makes bird
01:38:27He gets the eight under and bryson just makes bogey at 12
01:38:32And rory's over his tee shot at 14 about to hit and I had known that bryson's three wood was already in the air
01:38:39And it was on a good line. I was like, oh boy, uh, there's about to be a roar
01:38:43Uh, and of course in land short of the green bounces up goes 25 feet
01:38:48and now
01:38:49Rory has to step off the ball and i'm like we're about to have this epic back and forth where they're gonna have to wait
01:38:54On each other to hit because one doesn't want to be hitting while the other hits an epic shot and then
01:39:01on in their downswing has a roar that
01:39:04Screws him up. So you knew there was going to be this waiting
01:39:07And uh, it turned out to be a chess game down the stretch and um
01:39:11It just was epic. Absolutely. It was it was it was so awesome in that shot
01:39:15Yeah, we that that was that was when it really did feel like it started when he went when he drove the green and on
01:39:20The par four. All right, so I have one last question for you smiley and thank you so much
01:39:25By the way, this has been awesome. Uh, really cool to talk to someone who was right there any time
01:39:29Um, yeah, we're definitely gonna have you back on so, uh, because I think you guys have the the open right as well
01:39:35Yeah, okay. I got the open championship great. So we'll you'll be back on for that
01:39:40Um, so the last question rowback question rhoback.com promo code take
01:39:4520 off your first purchase q-zips polos hoodies joggers shorts
01:39:48Uh, great great polos if you're a golfer and you're listening to this right now rowback.com promo code take now
01:39:55You you made the bears comment, uh at the beginning and I didn't want to do this, but i'm gonna have to do this
01:40:00um
01:40:01Did you see alabama's new?
01:40:04Golf facility because there is no one who's ever going to go golfing at lsu ever again
01:40:10It's the craziest
01:40:12coolest
01:40:13Golf facility that they made for their team. I think jt had had like built the course and it is
01:40:21incredible so
01:40:22Um that sucks for you and your lsu tigers who I do like but that sucks for you. Did you see it?
01:40:27No. Yeah, i've been uh, you know, I live in birmingham
01:40:30So i'm i've been up to date on everything they're doing in alabama jt's kept me in the loop as well
01:40:36It's sick. Yeah, I mean it's they really didn't need a facility there. Um
01:40:41Because the golf courses there, you know at in tuscaloosa, I wouldn't call
01:40:45you know
01:40:47First class as far as any of the other forces
01:40:50Comparing, you know the lsu's coming out of me. It's bad. Okay. No, that's good
01:40:55They really did need to get a golf course in which they can kind of go and practice to do
01:41:00You know hit all different kinds of shots and it looks sweet. Uh,
01:41:04Um, i'm very jealous and i'll probably end up going there a time or two
01:41:08Hopefully maybe with uh jt or trey ball and ax or some of those boys, but yeah, that's sick. Uh,
01:41:15and uh
01:41:16Heck, I mean shoot when you come down to baton rouge like you do once or twice a year for a football game
01:41:20We'll have to head out there and I got to fix your posture man. We get your golf swing posture is oh is uh,
01:41:26Something i've never seen did you did you wait smiley?
01:41:29Did you not see the 28 I shot at shark tooth in the front nine on uh, oh
01:41:35You're out of federal city. So yeah, I was I shot a 28 on the front nine
01:41:41Yeah, did I did I see that you birdied 17 to like kind of finish with like a 54 on the back or something?
01:41:47Yeah
01:41:48I ended with 83 so it kind of got away from me
01:41:50But 28 on the front nine is pretty insane. I was eight under going to going to the hot dogs
01:41:57Yeah, I mean that's not bad 28. It's pretty good out there
01:42:02I played like seven holes
01:42:04It was so hot. It was so goddamn hot. I played like seven holes and quit
01:42:10What was poor noise like breaking? Did he like break par? Is that what it was?
01:42:14He shot. Yeah, he shot four under at shinnecock, but he had unlimited mulligans
01:42:18So he just sat there and they just fed him balls over and over he shot like a thousand shots
01:42:23He won the u.s
01:42:24Open he won the u.s. Yeah. Yeah, that was his goal is to try to
01:42:27Beat the winning score just by taking as many shots because they thought that he would just run out of time
01:42:32Yeah, there there aren't enough mulligans in the day for him to complete it
01:42:36But he brought like five guys out there that were feeding the balls shagging all the ones he was hitting
01:42:40So yeah, he dominated that course
01:42:42My next question is is how many golf balls it would take for four in order to get up and down from where bryson
01:42:47Was in the bunker at 18. Oh
01:42:50I don't know. Well, he's got a bad shoulder. He's got a bad. You can't do that. He doesn't have a bad
01:42:53Probably disliked. He doesn't have a bad swing. He just has a bad shoulder
01:42:57So but yeah, we we got it. We got to play and I would love for some tips and you can fix my swing
01:43:02I have your number now, maybe i'll facetime you while i'm on the simulator and you can you can give me some tips
01:43:07Hell yeah, hell yeah, man, uh, this has been great and anytime you want to have me on love to do it
01:43:12Uh, but yeah
01:43:13I definitely look forward to potentially seeing it out at baton rouge
01:43:16Like we bump into each other every year with the canes and uh walk on some folks over there at lsu
01:43:21It's a good time. They're the best smiley
01:43:23You guys also dodged a bullet
01:43:25I guess not you guys but the usga did because there were some people that were very much looking forward to monday golf
01:43:31And then you know people started to correct them and say like hey, actually it's just a two-hole playoff now
01:43:36Uh, but if it'd gone to a playoff people would have been really pissed off that we didn't have a full monday of golf
01:43:40Why did they change that rule? Can we bring that back? I love the I love the extra day of golf
01:43:45I am so pumped. That's not a thing like
01:43:48One of my one of my biggest things now that i'm not playing and i'm just at media
01:43:54I don't for the most part. I don't really care who wins
01:43:57I just care that they finish on time that there's no playoff. Yeah, so that I can take a call so
01:44:02uh, sorry for being selfish on that, uh, but I'll
01:44:06Playoff would have been super epic and I would have just ended up flying home tomorrow
01:44:10Uh, but yeah, I don't know. I it would have been fun to have a playoff especially with bryson and rory or like, you know
01:44:17With versus pga tour battle like now they're looking each other in the eye for
01:44:22I don't even know what holes they would have been I should know the answer to this because I was actually
01:44:26Kind of freaking out figure out what hole I would need to report to because I was like on one
01:44:31But I was like, maybe it's 17
01:44:33So I was like kind of walking around in circles like a dog trying to figure out where I was going
01:44:37And then bryson, of course makes the pot. So it's like, all right, i'm going home. Yeah. Yeah

01:46:44I saw you rolling your eyes
01:46:47All right, let's do it. All right, here we go leave that in three three two one
01:46:53All right, we welcome on our good good friend. It is mike florio
01:46:58Off to a combative start off to a combative start. We'll we'll leave in right when when he he told hank don't roll your fucking eyes
01:47:04uh
01:47:05Mike florio from pro football talk. Also i'm going to say this right now to our awls. Uh awl
01:47:11The takeys are coming up. So I know you know this mike
01:47:15But every year we give away takeys and award-winning listeners are up for uh, the listeners of this show
01:47:21They've won it seven years in a row. They're going for an eight pete
01:47:24Here's how they could maybe get a little bit closer to getting their eighth awl
01:47:30Status, uh, mike has a book called father of mine. It's on amazon. It's a mob novel
01:47:36Everyone loves reading about the mob. There's a sequel coming out in september
01:47:40Let's boost those book sales go buy it right now on amazon. Yes, mike has always been
01:47:46To be sent rolling his eyes again. Cut the hank
01:47:50Front to back back your eyes to be sentimental for a second
01:47:54Mike has done a lot for uh pft and I in our careers and me and and hank
01:48:00And so without mike florio in our lives, we probably wouldn't be uh all the way sitting here
01:48:04We'd probably still yeah, you would be you would uh, we're pretty incredible
01:48:08You would have ceased and desisted if you had ceased and desisted me in like year one
01:48:12I don't know that it ever gets here. So domino effect. Yeah, you you kind of created part of my take
01:48:18Yeah, so yeah, you you are a big part of our lives
01:48:20Uh, but we wanted mike on because we are at the point of the calendar where teams are about to go
01:48:26on break until training camp
01:48:29And we have been talking about basketball and baseball and hockey
01:48:33uh and golf
01:48:34And we just want to talk some ball
01:48:36We want to talk about football the sport
01:48:38We love because we know there's not going to be any football news for the next like month or so until training camps open
01:48:43So we wanted mike on to talk a little ball and mike
01:48:46I want to start with probably your favorite topic and we'll have memes make sure that his mic is on for this
01:48:53Is there a problem?
01:48:55in new york
01:48:56with aaron rogers and the jets
01:48:58I don't think there's a problem and I know that memes had some issue with something that I said last week because I saw the
01:49:04Tweet and I had to send it to you big cat to get an interpretation
01:49:09Like most people of my generation do hey son. What is this all about? I didn't get it
01:49:15Here's the issue with aaron rogers and I think this is more about the jets and aaron rogers
01:49:18They fucked this up so bad last week. All they had to do is excuse his absence
01:49:23That's all they had to do and I think what happened was some lawyer on the payroll for the jets said well
01:49:29if we
01:49:30Don't fine him then that will become a precedent that gets used against us
01:49:35If other players miss mandatory minicamp, we won't be able to enforce the fines against them
01:49:39There's a point we have to tell the lawyer shit a shit down and shut up or sit down and shut up as the case
01:49:44may be
01:49:45Because they just should have excused it and I think the jets would say it still would have been a big story
01:49:51Think about the difference between the story if robert sala says last tuesday
01:49:57Aaron rogers isn't here and it's an unexcused absence versus aaron rogers isn't here
01:50:03And it's excused and we've known about it and it's no big deal
01:50:07I think that it's 10 of the story that it was last week at most if they just would have excused the absence
01:50:12So I put this on them. They've known now look he he's known for 20 years
01:50:17When mandatory minicamp typically is middle of june so whatever ayahuasca retreat he's on he should have tried to schedule around this
01:50:24But once they knew
01:50:26That he wasn't going to be there
01:50:28They needed to handle it differently and they made it into a bigger thing than it needed to be and that's my that's my take
01:50:32Okay, so no problem. No, so there's not a problem
01:50:34It sounds like like sala according to your theory
01:50:37They knew this was going to happen and then sala was like we have to say it's unexcused and the fine is like
01:50:42Minimal what is it like a couple grand or something like that 50 grand total 50 grand total for the two days
01:50:47He missed 50 grand. I guess that's a little bit more than I thought that it was but they could have just make it
01:50:5035 million a year. I'm
01:50:53Yeah, 50 grand nothing but I saw your report that now the jets are entering phase me in their offseason
01:50:58There's phase one phase two phase three, and then there's phase me
01:51:03So what is phase me and does aaron rogers missing mandatory minicamp delay?
01:51:09His start of phase me well
01:51:11And and that's what was funny about the press conferences last week
01:51:14both of them with sala because we've been led to believe the new york media is this rough and tumble bunch that asks a
01:51:21Series of tough questions and
01:51:24Takes no prisoners and I think tiptoe on eggshells around aaron rogers and when sala was questioned twice last week
01:51:32Number one, they never asked him. Where is aaron if he's not here? Where is he?
01:51:35Just where is he two press conferences back-to-back days? He was never asked that question and on wednesday he went from
01:51:42Explaining his view on this period of time from the end of the offseason program to the start of training camp
01:51:47And he calls it phase me. What do you do when you're left to your own devices?
01:51:51What do you do when you could either be going?
01:51:53To the beach and drinking all day or going to the gym and properly hydrating and being ready to go when training camp starts
01:51:58And when you think about and this is the issue that I have with aaron rogers
01:52:03When he made that speech in january about what this season needs to be about it needs to be about winning not some of the time
01:52:10not
01:52:11Most of the time all of the time and any bullshit unrelated winning needs to be out of the building
01:52:16He hasn't lived that and I know he'll make whatever excuse he needs to make but dude
01:52:21Beyond missing the two days of mandatory minicamp, which are the centerpiece of the offseason program
01:52:27It would be helpful
01:52:28if the guy who's the leader of the team is there as they're being sent off for 40 days of
01:52:34We hope you don't fuck everything up
01:52:36By getting out of shape getting arrested having this happen
01:52:40We want you to be focused on football and ready to go when we come back
01:52:44It's one thing to have the coach say it
01:52:45It's another thing to have aaron rogers say it and that was the missed opportunity more than anything else last week that he wasn't there
01:52:50To send that message to his teammates and there'll never be a bright line. Whatever they do this year
01:52:54There'll never be a bright line back to that
01:52:57But still having him there the way he's tried to take over that team and the way that they worship him
01:53:03What a message if he stands up in the last meeting and says guys
01:53:09This is about winning and the next 40 days lays the foundation for everything we're going to do the rest of the the year
01:53:15Let's do it. Right. Let's think about each other. Let's not think about ourselves and for him to not even be there
01:53:21You know, good luck getting that message across to 90 guys. Okay, that I mean, I I like that answer memes
01:53:26Do you feel okay with that answer that aaron rogers is selfish? Uh phase me started a little early for him
01:53:33And uh, there's a problem in new york. Do you feel okay with this memes?
01:53:37Uh, I felt okay with everything up until
01:53:41Aaron rogers needed to do a rah-rah speech to get 90 guys going. Okay, okay
01:53:46Imagine the power of that speech though memes
01:53:49Yeah, that would have been incredible. Yeah. No, they're they're adult professional athletes that
01:53:54They're fine. Okay. So memes last part of this questioning
01:53:57Um is florio still the number one florio because you had it last week your rankings were
01:54:02The top three florios in media right now are mike florio number one matt miller number two diana racine number three
01:54:09Does florio keep his crown?
01:54:11I think diana moved up. Oh, wow. Diana's the number one florio
01:54:16What'd she do?
01:54:18Uh, she was tweeting about aaron rogers a lot last week. Okay
01:54:22Mike how do you feel about that no longer being the number one florio?
01:54:25I'll work extra hard. I'll i'll spend all of phase me
01:54:29Devoted to reclaiming my crown by the time training camp starts. I love the idea of phase me anytime hank takes a vacation
01:54:36He's just going to rebrand it. I'm on i'm on phase me right now. I'm working on on that
01:54:40Uh, yeah, so it has been it's been kind of a weird story
01:54:44You mentioned maybe you haven't thought about this angle of it though. Aaron said he wants all the bullshit out of the building
01:54:50Aaron rogers isn't in the building right now. Maybe he is he's living his message
01:54:56well, and and that is
01:54:58quintessential aaron rogers
01:55:00It's the kind of word games he played when he said yeah i've been immunized
01:55:03Back in 2021 not to go down that rabbit hole, but he said and when he was pressed about it
01:55:09Back in the otas when he was available to the media. They said
01:55:14How does this mesh with your message from january and he said we're not in the building yet
01:55:19We're not in the season yet, which is very hypocritical which tells me he's absolutely ready to enter politics
01:55:24I think it's inevitable that he's going to get into politics and he's already perfected the art of saying one thing and doing the exact
01:55:31Opposite and not even flinching because he did that whole rant about no bullshit in the building
01:55:37And now he's already able to do whatever he wants to do and act like it doesn't apply to him
01:55:41And I think that's the biggest problem I have with it because he wagged a finger at all of his teammates
01:55:46And what's it been with him this offseason memes? It's been one fucking distraction after another
01:55:51He's gonna run for vp and this is the story that I think the new york media whiffed on this guy was thinking about
01:55:59quitting on the jets
01:56:00ghosting the jets
01:56:02and
01:56:03Running for vice president of the united states. He was considering that that's what the implication would have been
01:56:08He would have said see you later. Have fun with tyrod taylor or zach wilson if they hadn't traded him i'm out
01:56:14He at least consider that and I think it just makes it harder to stomach what he said back in january
01:56:19The way he's conducted himself the last four months
01:56:21This is why mike is the best because memes just put diana racine at number one florio
01:56:26I'm already working. He literally just got right back to work. I think you're number one again
01:56:30I don't really like how you talk about aaron rogers
01:56:32I'm, i'm a converted aaron rogers fan now that he's out of my life and i'm rooting for him to have
01:56:37Nothing, but happiness with the jets, uh and memes. All right, so topic two I had
01:56:41um
01:56:43the
01:56:43Someone in this room was at tom brady's retirement. It was an incredible night as he reported
01:56:49uh, but
01:56:50What's it like right now in new england with the way that robert kraft has?
01:56:55Uh contorted himself. No, how do you say comported comported himself?
01:56:59In the last year or so with how he dealt with belichick the documentary
01:57:05What what's what's going on in new england mike windhorse meme?
01:57:09That documentary was strange especially because
01:57:12If you watch those episodes at the very end the message that came up on the screen and I can't remember it exactly
01:57:19But it was kraft fingerprints all over this thing
01:57:23Yeah, and they had an explanation for it and that's our story and we're sticking to it
01:57:28it was just kind of a strange thing, but
01:57:30the overwhelming sense was this
01:57:33documentary on apple tv plus was just a way to
01:57:37Set the record straight or spin the narrative a different way and chris simms made a great point last week when we were talking about
01:57:43first tom brady
01:57:45Okay, you said that not me. I love chris. I love chris. This makes
01:57:49This makes a lot of great. I like chris as well. I'm giving his point was
01:57:53Because brady got up and said
01:57:55About belichick. It wasn't me. It wasn't you it was us. Well, okay fine
01:57:59If you're gonna do this whole shebang for brady, when does belichick get his they need to do the exact same thing for him
01:58:07If it's equal if tom's right, they need to do the exact same thing for belichick at some point that they did for brady
01:58:14Okay, hank you feel okay about I agree with that. Yeah, bring bill back. Wow build them
01:58:19Mark this down time stamped. All right, we're good. All right, you have any beef with florio right now?
01:58:23No, we're in the beef. I had no beef with florio. Okay. I love mike. I always have well last time
01:58:28It was a little dicey. It was the whole fan fiction thing
01:58:32Well, yeah, but that's you guys really love to stir shit. Well, I just want to make sure the air is clear
01:58:37You love you know exactly what to do. I'll toss you a softball. Here's a softball question for you mike
01:58:44Uh, why was malcolm butler benched during the super bowl?
01:58:48Hell I don't know I mean
01:58:51I don't I I really don't know but it sounds like as it was said during the
01:58:57Apple tv plus documentary. It was something personal unrelated to football
01:59:01I remember sitting in the press box and we had all the pft writers in a row
01:59:05and
01:59:07Michael david smith said
01:59:09Why is malcolm butler not in the game? I'll never forget that
01:59:11It was so freaking weird and when you consider that it was a shootout at some point
01:59:16You just say go
01:59:17You can't do any worse than the guys we have out there
01:59:20Yeah, go get out on the field and try to try to at least stop them once so we can outscore them
01:59:25The whole thing the whole thing was weird and who knows if we ever get the truth, maybe belichick
01:59:29He's writing a book. Although I don't think it's a book about his time in new england
01:59:32I think it's just like a football book, but maybe at some point belichick will tell everybody what he was thinking when he did that
01:59:37So, uh, there's something else that you're working on and you you tweeted out you alleged you uh,
01:59:41You kind of danced around a little bit, but i'd like you to expand on it if you could
01:59:45Your tweet was there's a small army of reporters who cover the nfl on a constant basis
01:59:50Meanwhile, hardly anyone is paying attention to a lawsuit against the nfl that could cost the league billions and revolutionize the way games are made
01:59:57Available to fans. What does that mean? And are you threatening to take football off tv?
02:00:02No, no, I mean i'm trying look
02:00:05Hey
02:00:07I'm, one of the only ones that is out there looking for any bits and pieces I can get about this massive sunday ticket trial
02:00:13From a case that was filed nine years ago
02:00:16The judge originally threw the case out. They appealed it the case got reinstated
02:00:22It's been hanging around and hanging around and it finally started trial on june the 5th
02:00:27And i'm trying to shine the light on what this could be and i'm trying to get people to at least be somewhat optimistic
02:00:33That at the end of the day
02:00:34Sunday ticket could be a lot cheaper than it's been and you know
02:00:39From the moment I first became aware of sunday ticket. I thought there was something weird about this. Why can't we just buy?
02:00:45the teams
02:00:47we want
02:00:48you're in
02:00:49Pittsburgh and you're a bears fan. You just want the bears games
02:00:53Why don't I have to spend 400 or whatever the price is any given year to buy the whole fucking package?
02:00:58Why can't I just get the games I want?
02:01:00Why can't I just get the weekends I want if i'm a bears fan in pittsburgh and the bears are on monday night football?
02:01:05I don't need that weekend. I don't want that weekend
02:01:06There's no flexibility and it's always felt weird to me
02:01:10And the nfl has always just kind of pressed forward and made as much money as they could from it
02:01:14But this case is about what the nfl allegedly has done
02:01:18To protect the deals with cbs and fox and without getting too deep into the weeds. It's as simple as this
02:01:24They required allegedly, but I think the evidence has proved this they've required direct tv to charge a certain price
02:01:31So people don't get it and they just watch whatever cbs or fox has to offer
02:01:37So if you drop it and espn
02:01:40According to evidence that was introduced last week wanted to charge 70 for the whole season
02:01:45And give you a team by team option apple tv plus I saw this reporting back when they were negotiating the current deal with youtube
02:01:53Apple tv plus just wanted to include it in whatever it costs now per month to have apple tv plus like 6.99 a month
02:01:58Or whatever. They just wanted to give it to you as part of the base package
02:02:01So the nfl allegedly but the evidence is proving this out
02:02:05Wanted to keep it at a certain number
02:02:07They call it a premium product because they want to protect and preserve the cbs and fox relationship
02:02:12So they can get a shitload of money from cbs and fox and a shitload of money from whoever has
02:02:17Sunday ticket and they've done it for 30 years and the chickens have come home to roost and this all might blow up in their
02:02:22Faces and they're looking at supposedly seven billion dollars in damages for what we all paid and it's a nationwide class action
02:02:31It's what we all paid versus what we all should have been paying all along
02:02:35At least during whatever window this covers and it's 10 11 12 years
02:02:38Seven and under the antitrust laws seven billion gets tripled. So worst case scenario for the nfl is 21 billion dollars and
02:02:46And as a practical matter, they're going to have to revolutionize the way they make the games available
02:02:50So if you want to watch the commanders in chicago, you can do it one week at a time
02:02:55You can do it one team at a time. You don't have to buy the whole damn thing
02:02:57So this is good for fans and i'm sure the nfl is pissed that i've been covering it the way I have of course
02:03:03But this is something fans should be happy about because if the nfl loses and i've said this
02:03:07We should be rooting for the nfl to lose this
02:03:10Because it will make it easier for all the fans to have cheaper choices and broader selections to watch out-of-market games on sunday
02:03:17I like that and if they lose if they have to pay 21 billion dollars, is there a chance? Maybe we get a second super bowl
02:03:24I don't I don't think it's gonna that would rock. I don't I don't think it's going to be 21 billion
02:03:29That's just the absolute worst case scenario
02:03:31But keep this in mind they will appeal it and they will appeal it and they will take it all the way to the u.s
02:03:35Supreme court and I don't want it to get into the political realm here
02:03:38But the way the court is currently constituted they'd probably be confident at the end of the day. They'll win
02:03:44Wow, so they'll just buy their time and play it out and it may take five six seven more years
02:03:50But I think they're confident if it eventually gets to the supreme court
02:03:53They'll win roger goodell flies clarence thomas out to canton. Ohio puts it puts it in the hall of fame. Yeah
02:03:58Yeah, yeah, I liked it. Yeah, this could be good
02:04:00It could be good for sports or instead of the second super bowl
02:04:03They could do richard mindenhall's idea and they could do the race bowl and have that played before the super bowl
02:04:08I think that all I know is samuel alito is going to be flying an nfl flag upside down. I like that
02:04:14Uh, okay. Uh next question
02:04:16Trevor lawrence just signed a massive, uh new deal
02:04:20which
02:04:21Okay, I you know, I think he was injured last year. I think he's a good quarterback
02:04:26it makes sense you have to do it if you're the jaguars, but
02:04:29Like all of these new deals for quarterbacks the question just immediately becomes who's next
02:04:34And what's the price and I would assume dack is on that list brock purdy might be on that list to us to uh, so
02:04:42Uh caleb williams i'm ready to give him his long-term deal right now
02:04:45So what who is next and what are the prices going to look like?
02:04:50You mentioned purdy and one of the things I hope doesn't happen this year when we're watching 49ers games
02:04:55I hope there aren't these graphics that are playing up the idea that purdy is
02:04:59The cheapest starting quarterback in the nfl because the 49ers can't do anything about it by rule
02:05:05If you're drafted undrafted, it's two years. If you're drafted, it's three years
02:05:09You've got to wait three years before you're even eligible to have a second contract
02:05:14So that applies to caleb williams applies to brock purdy
02:05:17And that's the time that we've said in the past with other guys the texans now with cj stroud
02:05:21You've got two more years before he's even eligible for another contract
02:05:25Spend on stefan diggs daniel hunter and joe mixon because you can't pay the guy
02:05:31Who's the most important player on your team for two more seasons?
02:05:34So purdy gets set aside in a different category and he's got to wait at least a year
02:05:38And then we'll see what the 49ers do next year dack. I think goes into a different category as well. I wrote this yesterday
02:05:44Dax leverage doesn't come from whatever the market is
02:05:47Dax leverage comes from his contract and the cap number this year of 55.4 million
02:05:53And the cap charge next year of 54.5 million if he leaves
02:05:59They need to redo his deal and engineer these cap chargers or they're looking at 110 million over the next two years
02:06:06That's going to be in dack prescott's name because most of these contracts they give you a lot of money early
02:06:11And they kick the can down the road and at some point you've got to deal with a giant freaking cap charge
02:06:18And that's where the cowboys are and that's where dax leverage is because he can just sit back and say
02:06:24Like one of my all-time favorite movies goodfellas. Oh, you had a fire. Fuck you. Pay me. All business is bad
02:06:29Fuck you. Pay me. He can just sit back and say fuck you pay me
02:06:32And that's where his leverage comes from and the cowboys know it and it's keeping them from getting cd lamp sign
02:06:38And it's getting it's keeping them from even thinking about michael parsons. They're in a mess and it's all because of dax contract
02:06:44It's all because they waited too long to do his contract after he was eligible after his third year
02:06:50They made him play under his fourth year of his rookie deal
02:06:52They franchise tagged him a year and they finally realized we got a problem here and now they've got an even bigger problem
02:06:57So he's separate as well. Okay, the deeper question that you raised though as it relates to trevor lawrence
02:07:03I said this about him and I said this about jared goth and i've said this about others in the past
02:07:07Who are these teams bidding against when they make these gigantic market level offers?
02:07:13who
02:07:14Who else is going to take this guy away from you and pay that much money and maybe that would happen?
02:07:21Maybe maybe if the lions had said hey jared
02:07:24We're gonna let you become a free agent and you can see what else is out there or not out there
02:07:28You know with trevor it's different. He had two years left
02:07:30But that's the real thing with tua and the dolphins because I think tua wants to get something that starts with a five
02:07:37Not a four
02:07:38And I don't think the dolphins want to pay something that starts with five and you have to wonder will they just say tua?
02:07:45Go ahead
02:07:47Because ask yourself that question
02:07:50If two is available to anyone who wants him, what are they going to pay?
02:07:53Yeah
02:07:54What's he going to get on the open market?
02:07:56And I feel like one of these days one of these teams is going to draw that line in the sand the vikings kind of did
02:08:00It with kirk cousins
02:08:01They dared him to go get better than whatever they were willing to pay and he did
02:08:04And I can see the dolphins doing that with tua unless tua
02:08:07Comes down from wanting to be in this upper echelon of nfl quarterbacks
02:08:12I had one other question about the contracts
02:08:14Is patrick mahomes contract good like all of a sudden the best contract that's ever been signed for a team?
02:08:19Oh, absolutely 12 years and what they did last year what they did last year when joe burrow got his contract
02:08:25They moved some of the money around so the cash flow
02:08:28For two or three years for mahomes would be just a little better than burrows
02:08:32And they're gonna have to do that again. They're gonna have to do it again
02:08:36and when you sign a 12-year contract you're
02:08:38You're hoping that the team will do that as needed. They could fold their arms and say too bad
02:08:43You're under contract the guy that I think should be
02:08:47Making an issue here and I mentioned this to brandon bean
02:08:50At the scouting combine and I think he wasn't happy that I mentioned it
02:08:54Josh allen is getting screwed because josh allen doesn't have any devices in his contract that would force them to pay him more
02:09:01He's at 45 as well
02:09:03I mean the two best quarterbacks in the nfl are at 45 million per year
02:09:06And now we've got guys at 55 million per year at some point
02:09:09Josh allen needs to be saying to the bills. We got to do something about this because
02:09:14Yeah, all due respect to trevor lawrence
02:09:17He's not josh allen. Yeah, and if if other guys get close to that, it just becomes more skewed and more work
02:09:23But that that's what happens all the time
02:09:24That's why i've been arguing for years
02:09:26That somebody needs to get a contract at the quarterback position that pays him a percentage of the salary cap
02:09:33So as the cap goes up his number goes up
02:09:36And you never get in this spot where you feel like the guy's getting screwed
02:09:38He's always getting a specific 18 17.5675. However, they would negotiate it
02:09:44But it's the same percentage of the total cap every year and then you feel like the guy's being treated fairly and his contract
02:09:50Will increase as the market goes that also sounds like a lot of math
02:09:54That would be tough if I was a gm i'd be like that's I have to do too much math for that contract
02:09:59Can I just just give me a number and i'll pay that but to big cat's point?
02:10:02It's everybody says you have to you have to pay these guys. So like when it's trevor lawrence
02:10:07Yeah, you kind of have to pay them because you're you're afraid of just not having trevor lawrence, right?
02:10:13You're afraid of what what the open market looks like you're afraid of of being single again out there
02:10:18And so it's like i'd rather take trevor lawrence
02:10:20And just kind of I know that I have to take my medicine on his contract
02:10:23Than to have to start all over again because I feel like the fan base would get
02:10:27Pretty frustrated if that were the case
02:10:29There's three types of teams in the nfl teams that have franchise quarterbacks
02:10:33Teams that don't and teams that have a guy that they're not sure yet whether or not he's going to be one and the jaguars are
02:10:39Betting that lawrence is going to be one and when he becomes one, they've got a damn good contract
02:10:45That's what that 55 is because one of the things i've been preaching all off season
02:10:49It's amazing how many teams don't pay attention to this
02:10:52The longer you wait
02:10:53The more expensive it gets the vikings waited too long with justin jefferson and it got a lot more expensive
02:10:59The cowboys are waiting with dac and cd lamb and michael parsons and it's only getting more expensive
02:11:04It never gets cheaper unless the guy literally gets hit by a bus or wakes up one day and can't play anymore
02:11:10That's the only way it gets cheaper teams. I don't think are smart to bet on the guy
02:11:15All of a sudden falling apart you bet on him being good
02:11:19And the earlier you make that bet the better off you're going to be that's what was brilliant about what the jaguars did
02:11:25Because if they had waited around for dac to get his
02:11:28Or two to get his or the next guy after that to get his jordan
02:11:32Love is the one we haven't talked about that jordan love is going to get paid based on half a season
02:11:36But he's going to get paid
02:11:38You wait as other guys get their deals done. It only makes the price higher
02:11:42I think they could have gotten trevor lawrence for less if they'd have done it before jared goff got 53
02:11:47Yeah, so it was smart for the jaguars to realize. Hey, this is our guy. We're willing to go all in with them
02:11:52Let's just let's stop the bleeding because it's only going to get more expensive
02:11:55Yeah, I actually think that there are four kinds of quarterbacks. There's the guy that's number one. There's our guy
02:12:01That's number two and then there's is he the guy that's three and then not the guy that's four
02:12:07And I would rather be in situation one two or four
02:12:11Then is he the guy I think you're right. I think you're right now
02:12:15The dolphins are kind of in two
02:12:18Or three and that's the problem when you have a large chunk of the fan base
02:12:23That are card carrying members of two and on
02:12:26they want
02:12:27They want to to get a market level contract and I know that two is people are making comps
02:12:36Statistically
02:12:37Between two and the other guys who have the top contract
02:12:40So there's a belief there that he deserves that then you got other people in the dolphins fan base are like wait a minute
02:12:45We can find 20 guys to do what this guy does now. I don't know who's right or who's wrong
02:12:50But he's very polarizing and to your point. You just have to be right and once you know, he's your guy
02:12:57Maybe he's not the guy but if he's the best you're gonna do that's when you need to get that deal done because
02:13:04Whatever he becomes if he keeps playing well, it's going to keep getting more expensive and I don't understand that
02:13:09I don't know why tiers haven't developed where you have the best of the best you have the middle and you have but it's all
02:13:14We've seen this in recent years. Okay. Hey, i'm i'm good enough and i'm eligible for a new contract
02:13:20So I want to be the highest paid player in nfl history
02:13:23And I i'd like to think teams are going to push back a little more on that
02:13:26but so far most of them have you you mentioned doing a contract that was uh,
02:13:32Proportional to the uh, you know salary cap and then changing it. Oh year over year
02:13:37Do you think a team would ever maybe the dolphins with tua would do?
02:13:42Uh, almost like flash pricing where it's like, all right. Here's our schedule. We're gonna pay you
02:13:49Uh joe burrow money for all games. We think are going to be above 80 degrees
02:13:54And then any game you think it's going to be below 40 degrees you get gardener mints you money
02:13:59You know, there was a coke machine at one point sorry, I know you got the pepsi cans on there
02:14:03Maybe it was pepsi. It was pepsi. I and i'm pepsi too
02:14:06I've had pepsi stock for 25 years and i'm heli and only pepsi hashtag team pepsi
02:14:10Of course, you're a pepsi stock. There was a soda machine that the price went up and down based upon how hot it was
02:14:15So there's something to that. Okay, so I think this might be the new
02:14:19I think the dolphin should sit them down and be like look they scheduled us in new england and buffalo in december
02:14:25You're gonna have to take a pay cut that year
02:14:27I'll say this five years ago the rams
02:14:30were
02:14:31On the verge of making jared goff one of the highest paid players in football and I was saying very loudly and very clearly
02:14:38Why are you doing that sean mcvay's the guy running the offense goff had chances in superbowl 53 against the patriots
02:14:44You had brandon cooks wide open on the exact same play once in the first half and he threw it to
02:14:50I don't know if it was alan robinson or someone else instead. It wasn't alan robinson
02:14:53It was robert woods running across underneath cooks was open and goff missed him. They did the same play in the second half
02:14:59Hooks was wide open goff saw him too late threw it late. Jason mccordie ran over and broke it up
02:15:03If you make that throw, maybe the rams win that game
02:15:06and my point was
02:15:09Why are you going to be in a position where you're held hostage?
02:15:12By this guy is your quarterback and pay him all that money when you could find somebody else
02:15:16And the rams were kind of hostile about it and they were stubborn about it and they paid him all that money and then two
02:15:20Seasons later, what did they do?
02:15:22They gave up an extra first round pick in the matthew stafford trade to get goff off their books
02:15:29And you look I think jared goff has done very well with the detroit lions
02:15:32Also, our friend he beat matt staff beat matt. Sabri won that trade
02:15:37I I think that the best thing that ever happened to him
02:15:39Was the rams kind of throwing him out the front door because it it pushed him to a higher level of achievement
02:15:46But that's the broader point
02:15:49As I said earlier, who are you bidding against what are your alternatives and at some point you just need to have confidence
02:15:54And I think that's what the vikings were doing this year with kirk cousins
02:15:58I really I don't know this but I don't think they really wanted him to come back
02:16:02I think they made an offer that wasn't so low. It was insulting
02:16:05And they said hey go ahead
02:16:07See see what's out there and cross your fingers and hope that somebody else pays him
02:16:11Enough that he leaves so they could reset because if you keep him how long is he going to be there?
02:16:15Anyway, they reset with j.j. McCarthy and they see what happens and you have a great play caller a great play designer in kevin
02:16:21O'connell a great quarterback whisperer
02:16:23Maybe mccarthy becomes the guy they haven't had really since fran tarkin and so you have to have the willingness and I think to your point
02:16:30son internet son
02:16:33When you're in category two, but you're really kind of in category three
02:16:36You got to be willing to slip into category three and say this isn't our guy and we're going to go all the way to
02:16:41Category four and move on no, but what usually happens you're in category three
02:16:44Is he the guy territory and then you say he yeah, you know, he's our guy
02:16:48So you like will him into category two, but if you go from three to two willing to say fuck it
02:16:54He's in category four. You go back and forth from three to two. You should be in four. Yes, justin fields mitch trubisky
02:17:00Yes, if you have that whole time going back and forth between three and two me and big cat are experts on guyism
02:17:06We're guy sexual and we we've been through this song and dance before we know what it is
02:17:10Now with kirk cousins him going to atlanta atlanta just got slapped with
02:17:14Uh, maybe just the most moderate tampering penalty of all time considering how long this investigation took
02:17:20What happened with kirk cousins and atlanta were they talking before the window?
02:17:24Were they talking numbers during the window where they're not allowed to be?
02:17:27I don't understand how there's this big tampering investigation and then they're like, you know, what wasn't that bad?
02:17:33There's two important background points
02:17:34Number one tampering happens all the time. The only people that get in trouble are the ones who are stupid enough to get caught
02:17:41Everyone tampers when you go to the scouting combine every year. It's open season. The teams are there the agents are there
02:17:48There's no digital trail on anyone's phone because everyone's meeting with each other face to face
02:17:53And you can talk openly and freely and when you leave indianapolis
02:17:56The teams and the agents have an idea of who's going to be pursuing the top three agents. So the tampering happens
02:18:02And the other side of it is rich mckay who's got an executive level job at the falcons
02:18:07He kind of got pushed out but up into a higher position during this most recent turnover of the coaching staff
02:18:14He's very influential in league circles. He's the chair of the competition committee. He's tight with roger goodell
02:18:20They had a fake crowd noise thing eight or nine years ago that they only got hit with a fifth round pick
02:18:26Three hundred fifty thousand dollar fine, but that's a parking ticket for a multi-billion dollar business a fifth round pick
02:18:30That's the currency that gets the team's attention
02:18:33That's all they lost for deliberately pumping in fake crowd noise and getting caught doing it. So that's the background of this
02:18:39I think what happened here was and this is just my you can call it fan fiction if you want really don't care
02:18:45I've had enough to drink tonight that I really am not going to get dragged down by that
02:18:48But I think after following this carefully
02:18:51They
02:18:52Pigeonholed it into
02:18:54Well, okay
02:18:55These three guys that the falcons talked to it was after they reached agreement and it dealt with travel arrangements and other logistics
02:19:01I just don't buy that
02:19:03I think that they were talking to these guys during that negotiating window when they weren't allowed to
02:19:08Kirk cousins admitted four different ways. They had tampered with him during his introductory press conference right after he signed his contract
02:19:15And even before kirk cousins blurted out all the different ways. They had tampered with him
02:19:21I was suspicious about the falcons
02:19:24Getting to the point where they're comfortable guaranteeing 100 million dollars to a guy that all we saw was him on a tennis court
02:19:30Or on a football. How do you get to the point where you're willing to commit?
02:19:35nine figures
02:19:36To a 35 year old quarterback who blew out an achilles and all you have by way of evidence to feel good about it
02:19:43Is what you saw on a basketball court a few weeks before and anything they would have done to get more information about
02:19:51His health before they made that commitment was tampering
02:19:55Necessarily and positively because I was sniffing around all that before this happened because it's like something's not right here
02:20:01They're talking to somebody they shouldn't be talking to they're getting information. They shouldn't be getting and here's why it's important
02:20:06Cousins had to make a decision because the vikings were going to move on to sam darnold. So cousins needs to know
02:20:12Falcons, are you with me? Are you paying me? Because otherwise i'm taking this offer in minnesota
02:20:18That's what makes it troubling if the vikings really wanted him
02:20:22he needed to make a decision the vikings needed to know so they could pivot to another guy if they wanted to and I think
02:20:29I think that if the falcons didn't tamper even before the window opened and didn't get
02:20:35The information they needed about his health. They're just stupid
02:20:39Yeah, how would you commit 100 million dollars to a guy and not know well anything about his health?
02:20:43Well, they drafted michael penex after signing him to that so they could be stupid
02:20:47That that's entirely it's that's an excellent point. It is entirely possible that they are just stupid. Yeah, or they think they have the greatest
02:20:55uh medical staff in the world where they're like
02:20:58We'll take kirk cousins with an achilles and then michael penex with every leg injury ever
02:21:04Yeah, maybe they drafted penex just to get his ligaments for kirk. Oh
02:21:08How long do you guys think that cousins will be with atlanta?
02:21:11What's your over on two years two years sounds about right to me because that's that's when the guaranteed money runs out
02:21:16Right, and then you have a first round pick and eventually you're going to want to see what that guy can do
02:21:20And I feel like it's like maybe maybe wins the nfc south this year goes to a playoff game
02:21:26Uh the next year maybe like a slow start and then that's it. Here's the key though next year
02:21:32his
02:21:33Compensation is only 27 million dollars so you could trade him
02:21:37I know he's got a no trade clause
02:21:38But if you want to move on to michael penex jr
02:21:40And yeah, he wants to play wants to make him a starter. He'll wave his trade
02:21:43People people get so caught up by the no trade clause. Hey, what's my choice?
02:21:47I'm gonna get dicked around here in atlanta or i'm gonna go somewhere else where they want me and the money's the same
02:21:52I'll go there wherever it is. Miami. I mean that's that's back to tua. Yeah, i'm gonna pay to a 55
02:21:59If maybe next year I can get cousins for 27
02:22:01And he can come in and run this offense to perfection. Mike mcdaniel was a kyle shanahan protege
02:22:06Shanahan has wanted cousins for years really ever since they split ways in washington
02:22:12Shanahan's been plotting this path to get back to kirk cousins until he got brock purdy
02:22:16So there could be the dolphins there could be other teams that want cousins next year
02:22:19I think it could be as short as one year with cousins in atlanta
02:22:22I mean it'd be very interesting if kirk's not good to go for the start of the season and they put penex in there and
02:22:27Penex is really really good. And then you've just got kirk cousins on your bench for 100 million guaranteed
02:22:32That's kind of what i'm rooting for. I think that'd be very funny to see
02:22:35Uh, there's some other other rookie quarterbacks out there
02:22:38Uh three people in this room drafted a rookie quarterback
02:22:41So can you give us your initial power rankings of the top three quarterbacks taken in the draft?
02:22:47I love caleb williams. Yep
02:22:50I think he
02:22:51We we spent time with him at the scouting combine and I was just blown away
02:22:54You know when a kid that young just gets it it oozes out of everything about him
02:22:58Yep, we love talking to him. We loved it. And I was trying to love that. You loved it
02:23:03I was trying to get him to to to say he won't play for the bears and he only wants to play for the vikings
02:23:07I really tried my damndest to get him to do that never and jayden daniels. Hey, hey son, uh
02:23:13When we we I don't know how many guys we interviewed at the combine defensive players from the sec
02:23:17We tried to ask most of them as long as we could remember who's the toughest guy you faced in college
02:23:22And all those guys said jayden daniels to a man it was jayden daniels pretty good because he's there and then he's gone
02:23:28Yeah, and he could be more talented at the end of the day than caleb williams
02:23:31They could both end up being great the difference between this year in 2021
02:23:35We had trevor lawrence and five guys who've been traded for day three picks in three years, which is just amazing
02:23:40These guys are ready to go. Yeah now drake may drake may I think may take some time
02:23:47heavy ball
02:23:48There's a chance we could go four out of five. Whoa
02:23:51These guys end up being being good quarterbacks by the time it's all said and done
02:23:55Who do you think is up for three years ago when it was one out of five?
02:23:57Who's who's the odd man out six? There's six. I forgot there was six. Yeah
02:24:01So so just go ahead go down that list. Who's the odd man out?
02:24:05I
02:24:07Go nicks
02:24:09I I wonder what's gonna happen with nicks and and I wonder because we're getting weird signals from sean payton about
02:24:15Whether it's going to be him or jared stidham or maybe even zach wilson
02:24:19and I don't know if this is just make the kid earn it, but
02:24:25You know
02:24:26People are wondering how much of what happened last year was russell wilson
02:24:29How much is it sean payton is the game passing him by he's dealing with a lot of that. He got lacy about it
02:24:35He got wait, did he get lacy after he drafted removed?
02:24:39So did he have the cataracts when he was evaluating bo nicks? I I don't know. I don't know. That's a great question
02:24:45Um, I look at it the other way
02:24:47If I was one of these guys
02:24:49I would want to be
02:24:51In minnesota because look at what kevin o'connell did last year. Wait, what team do you root for?
02:24:57I that's fine. Okay. All right
02:24:59I'm capable of being objective. Okay. Yeah, so am I i'm not but I don't do it
02:25:04But I am let's compare and contrast. Okay, if caleb williams comes in and kicks ass and is great
02:25:10Yes, and and has 4 500 passing yards this year and the bears go to the playoffs
02:25:16Shane waldron's gone next year. Okay, that's fine
02:25:19And you got to go get a new offensive coordinator and hope it works the following year same thing in washington
02:25:23Come on, who cares?
02:25:26But you're being mean right now, that's being mean it feels like you're being very mean
02:25:30No, you're being
02:25:32You're like, oh
02:25:34I've never had what he did with josh. Dobbs. You should not be happy even though
02:25:38Mullins had a 400 yard passing game last year over like seven times. That's okay
02:25:44Yeah, then what happened with the ball? Okay, so I understand what you're saying
02:25:48But what if caleb williams is so good that um, matt eberflues gets another job. Well
02:25:54That would be crazy
02:25:56really what what I would hope for if I were you and I and I I feel bad saying this because
02:26:00Matt eberflues has a completely different demeanor. It's amazing how a guy changes when the best guy in the draft
02:26:08Falls into your lap because the panthers made a shitty trade last year and gave you
02:26:13That pick but eberflues like he's got the goatee and he's got the hair. No, he got funked up. He got fucked up. He's he's
02:26:20He's the man now. Yeah, but
02:26:22I I'd almost want if I were you at some level i'd be hoping that it struggles just enough so
02:26:28That the bears could hire
02:26:30somebody who is jim harbaugh an offensive guru
02:26:34And you attach him to caleb williams hip for 10 years
02:26:36Look at what happened with drew brees and sean payton you that's what you want. You want continuity
02:26:41You want consistency look at the texans bobby slowick's going to be gone sooner than later and cj stroud is going to have to
02:26:47Figure it out with a new coordinator and that's a big deal guy brings in a new playbook. He's got new calls
02:26:52He's got new attitudes. He's got new approach. How much of that's going to
02:26:55I would love to have like this is a problem. If you tell me that caleb williams throws for 35 touchdowns
02:27:02And I know it's 4 000 yards and the bears go to the playoffs and then we lose shane waldron
02:27:08Sign me the fuck up. You know what? The best problem to have is no problem. That's the best. Yeah, everyone's got a problem
02:27:15Everyone's got a problem. All right, so this is fired me up just talking ball with mike
02:27:19I got the football in my hand. I got one last question for you mike
02:27:22Uh ro back question rhoback.com promo code take 20 off your first purchase q-zips polos hoodies joggers shorts
02:27:29Roback.com promo code take it's actually a question in a comment. I'll start with the comment. Uh
02:27:36was
02:27:37writing
02:27:38this headline
02:27:40Maybe one of the lowest points of your career in terms of uh, holy shit. We need football back
02:27:45Mike florio published this, uh today actually today sunday father's day. He's working on father's day
02:27:51U.s olympic swimming trials set attendance record at lucas oil stadium
02:27:57That's your nfl tie-in that it happened at the cult stadium. Listen, listen
02:28:02Lucas oil stadium is in the top quartile of the upper quartile of all stadiums as jim arce would say and don't you accuse me?
02:28:08Of pandering to my corporate overlords when all I got to do is look around at all
02:28:14Olympics, all right, that's fine. But I just saw that headline. I was like we're talking about a
02:28:18Oh swimming record at a football stadium was the roof open. Did he open the roof for it? That's the big question
02:28:23I have to keep that's a good tie. Yeah. Sorry. You got to keep the cock happy. All right now give us uh,
02:28:29We we've talked a lot of facts that mike florio knows. Let's go opinions that mike florio is thinking
02:28:36Uh, give us a team you think is going to surprise us
02:28:39When we get back to football what team you got? Oh, okay. So you like russ you think russ
02:28:45Or justin fields
02:28:46I just think that
02:28:47Bringing arthur smith in there and it's funny how many steelers fans lose their shit because arthur smith. Oh, he's stunk as a head coach
02:28:53Yeah, but he was good enough as a coordinator to become a head coach true. Now. He's a coordinator again
02:28:58So he's not your head coach. He's running the offense
02:29:01I feel like there was just enough shit that went down late last year with mike tomlin
02:29:06Maybe considering his options and enough of that trickled up to art rooney the second the guy who runs the team
02:29:12To realize
02:29:14We gotta do something about our offense. So
02:29:17In comes arthur smith
02:29:19They blow up the quarterback depth chart. They've still got a great defense
02:29:24And look at what they've managed to do
02:29:26Tomlin's superpower is to take a room full of guys that you would individually look at them and say
02:29:32Okay, and slap them all together and make it into a playoff team
02:29:36And I know other coaches who will and this isn't just antonio brown. There are others that fall into this bucket
02:29:42guys who play for tomlin that go elsewhere and they're like
02:29:45This guy's a fucking pain in the ass. I had no idea. This guy's a fucking pain in the ass
02:29:49How does mike tomlin do it?
02:29:50He knows how to speak to the better angels of all these players and get the most out of them
02:29:54You bring in russell wilson who's on his last chance. This is it for him if he blows it now
02:29:59He's done. He took a team-friendly deal. Mike. I read that headline. No. No, no, he didn't take a team-friendly deal
02:30:06Yeah, that's what i'm paying 39 million this year shepherd said he took a team
02:30:11Yeah, it's no team-friendly deal. I know this is his last chance
02:30:15He's got to hold off justin fields and he's got to play well this year because after this year he's gone
02:30:19He's free agent fields after this year. He's gone. He's a free agent
02:30:23in a weird sort of way
02:30:25It's like the old seinfeld episode where lloyd braun and castanza were trying to sell computers and the winner gets a water pick and the loser
02:30:31Gets fire. One of these guys is getting the starting job in 2025
02:30:35And one of them's getting fired
02:30:37Yeah, and I think what's going to happen once those steelers fans start seeing what justin fields can do on the ground
02:30:43And if he's running circles around guys playing second string in the preseason, they're going to fall in love with him
02:30:48So russ had better get it done
02:30:52because if he
02:30:54Struggles at all the steelers fans are going to be chanting for justin fields and I think tomlin knows how to handle all that
02:31:02But I think when you see the odds out there
02:31:05I think that we had the draft kings odds on pft live recently. It's stunning
02:31:09How little people believe?
02:31:11In the steelers based upon where the odds currently are, okay
02:31:13Yeah, and justin field's one of the best play one of the best games he played as as a pro
02:31:18I was there monday night football against the steelers at heinz field
02:31:21So they know and and people forget that's also where russ did his little pantomime huddle thing where he's pretending to call plays
02:31:28That was at heinz field, yeah, so he's got experience running visual drills on that field
02:31:33Whoa, because he did he I think that might have been where he did the the fake
02:31:36Bumps too for some reason. I thought that was at lambo
02:31:38But then lambo was the game that he came back remember when he got healed so fast a miracle
02:31:43Yeah, it was a miracle, but then he sucked because he clearly still had a broken thumb. Yeah. Oh my god
02:31:47I got a uh topic just to get you wound up on real quick because i'm sure that chiefs fans love you
02:31:53Um, how do you feel about the chiefs offseason this year?
02:31:56Uh, most specifically dealing with legal issues
02:32:00Well, I I know this
02:32:02They must really love rishi rice
02:32:04Because we know how this goes
02:32:06If you're good enough, they'll twist themselves and not just the chiefs any team at any level in any sport will twist themselves into knots
02:32:13To excuse bad behavior if you're borderline or scrub you're gone
02:32:18you're the guy we're going to make the example out of
02:32:20and they really do believe in rishi rice and one of the things I learned when I was poking around on some of these
02:32:25Edges with the we all know about the street racing incident eight felony charges that are pending
02:32:30There could be more because he's yet to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries
02:32:34So he's got legal issues and i'll be surprised if he's playing week one
02:32:37He's either gonna be on the commissioner's exemplist or he will have pled guilty to
02:32:41One or more of these felonies and he'll be suspended under the personal conduct policy
02:32:45They love him because he came in last year and he figured out the offense quickly faster than tyree kill did
02:32:53He had a better first year
02:32:56In kansas city in the andy reid offense than tyree kill did so they see
02:33:01A ceiling for him that is just going to potentially explode
02:33:03That's why they're dealing with it
02:33:04And the other thing too is and we've seen players like this over the years when they go back home
02:33:10And run with guys that they've known their whole life they get influenced in a certain way, you know
02:33:15It's a whole aaron hernandez thing if he'd have been
02:33:18Drafted by the seahawks or the rams or the chartered and away from new england who knows what the alternate universe might be
02:33:25But to be around those guys in dallas like rice was I think the chiefs believe
02:33:29if they can
02:33:31Can use everything they have to get him pointed in the right direction
02:33:35Keep him away from the guys in dallas that have gotten him into trouble that that he'll break a certain way
02:33:40But eight felonies we've seen the video
02:33:43I don't know how he gets out of this without a major problem with the nfl
02:33:49So he's going to miss some time to start the season, I believe
02:33:52but the chiefs are are tolerating it because
02:33:55They they know what he can do and look I picked the chiefs to win the last two superbowls
02:34:00And it really isn't a stretch. I mean really
02:34:03Now and the thing I love about the chiefs
02:34:05Because I remember growing up in the 70s and the steelers would kick the shit out everybody
02:34:09Then another team would come along kick the shit out
02:34:10Everybody the chiefs make every game. They're in interesting
02:34:14Playoff games. There's there's never a blowout every superbowl. They got to come from behind
02:34:19It's like going to it's like going to a batman movie, you know batman isn't going to get killed
02:34:23But it's you're going to have moments where you're like, oh what's going to happen to batman?
02:34:26That's what happens with the chief. So it's never boring. It's always exciting
02:34:30And how I mean even with everything that's happened this off season
02:34:34Does anybody really think they're just going to go away? No this year? I don't know i'm gonna win again
02:34:39Yeah, they're gonna win. Do you want to pick them to win again right now?
02:34:42No, but I probably will by september. I just did I picked them to win again. Um, all right
02:34:47Well, mike everyone, please do go buy mike's book. He is one of our favorite guests
02:34:51Like I said, he you can't tell this history apart in my take without mike florio
02:34:56Uh, it was great. Just talking ball. Yeah, it feels like you ever read if you you were starting to read my christmas book
02:35:02But I never heard from you again. So I assume you didn't finish it. No, I did. I read a couple pages
02:35:07And I got the gist that's good
02:35:08I got the gist of I read it and uh, and then blake took it from me and he started eating it
02:35:13And I love blake. He like is awesome. He looked very dog so bad. He loved my dog. I just want another one
02:35:19He looked very happy while he was eating it. So he loved your book
02:35:23Yeah, yeah, it's probably better on the way in than the way out. Yeah. Yeah, I got the gist of it. It's a book
02:35:28All right. Yeah, uh, but mike you are the best and uh, welcome to phase me. We'll talk to you. Uh,
02:35:34Maybe in august
02:35:36Thanks. What's after phase me? Is it phase you phase? We
02:35:41I don't know phase p. I don't know
02:35:43I I have no idea. Okay. All right. We'll enjoy phase me. All right
02:35:47I'm, sorry. I'm, sorry to end on such a low note. I don't have anything witty to say
02:35:51So what the fuck all I can say is goodbye and I love you
02:35:54Hank is just did the wrap it up thing where he's like mike is talking too much. Let's go. He did that
02:35:58Let's go. Let's go get fired up at hank again
02:36:01I

02:36:58Missed his flight
02:36:59Because uh, he was so sad about thursday's show
02:37:02So he missed the show today, but he's been listening the whole time. He's been taking
02:37:07notes for max's minute
02:37:09so max
02:37:12Hello, what did we get wrong?
02:37:14Hello
02:37:15um
02:37:16Not everything was
02:37:18Not much that was actually wrong. I just have some notes of things that I would like to say. Okay
02:37:23You you're like luca brazzi right now
02:37:26Okay, why are you why are you not able to speak
02:37:30I can speak. Okay. I'm literally speaking by the way. Shout out big dom for sending us these uh,
02:37:35Big dom's the best great big dom sent us a care package and I texted big dom a picture of it
02:37:41And said thank you so much and he just replied my paisans
02:37:45And I fucking I love it. I hate how much I love my brother
02:37:48It's so excited when I showed him that that response that it just said my paisans my paisans. Um
02:37:55Okay, ready, yes, yeah
02:37:58Loser winner thing mean loser tried to show up loser hates philadelphia airport. The philly airport is dead to the loser
02:38:05Wait, thanks rushing
02:38:07What was this? This is my man. He's referring to himself as the loser. Okay, you are the loser the loser minute
02:38:12Can you can is a loser in the room with you right now?
02:38:16I'm the loser. Okay
02:38:18That was when you were doing like the whole
02:38:21Metaphor thing of like there's a loser and the loser didn't show up
02:38:25God, oh, you mean like bryson and rory? Yeah, so you're rory. Yeah. Yeah, he's rory
02:38:30I'm, rory, correct
02:38:33Um, it's the hundreds of millions of dollars and the major championships
02:38:37All right, you're you're you're the one who said it
02:38:41What?
02:38:42You sound like you were the one who was inferring that I was the loser
02:38:45So what I think no, you just heard you inferred yourself. Yeah, we never said anything about what they said
02:38:50I was up for interpretation and you interpret
02:38:52Okay, okay. We we were talking we're doing the show and you were literally writing
02:38:57I think they're talking about me because they mentioned a loser. I distinctly did not mention your name
02:39:02I was saying that we would never do something like that on this show
02:39:05I hate you guys
02:39:07Okay, uh, can I continue over one?
02:39:11Hank's resting anger face is so much worse than bryson's
02:39:13Ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah, it wasn't we were talking about bryson. So over two over two. We're talking about patrick can't lay
02:39:20Yeah, we're talking about patrick can't lee
02:39:22Okay
02:39:23Yeah
02:39:24Actually, yeah, no patrick can't lee and and hank kind of kind of similar in that respect
02:39:28I'm gonna pull up his face, right? You're not you do not have a dumpy body like he does no soon though
02:39:34What i'm trying to get a fat ass you are bbl hank for dead dunking lower body. How fat are we talking?
02:39:41I mean just anything that's like not inverted would be nice
02:39:46You know
02:39:47Permission to look when you get it. Yeah. Okay, you're getting caked up on us. Nice
02:39:52peaches
02:39:53That's gonna look real good with a shaved head
02:39:56Yeah
02:39:57Yeah, you're gonna look like uh
02:40:01Sigourney weaver in alien. Mm
02:40:05Hot hot you didn't see that movie. No
02:40:08Okay
02:40:10max over to
02:40:11Uh tatum went 15 5 and 3 on 4 of 10 shooting
02:40:15He is now shooting 36 from the field and 29 from 3 this series
02:40:19I just like thought that we should have talked we should talk about that. Okay, that's actually a good addition one one for three
02:40:24Yeah, yeah one for three similar to tatum shooting
02:40:27Yep, would you say that you're having a good show then?
02:40:31What would you say you're having a good show right now you win one for three no i'm having a bad show, okay
02:40:37All right, you're smart you're learning smart
02:40:41Uh, the chris tops get him on the court to win a championship was such a dumb statement
02:40:49Put him on the court for no reason
02:40:53I can't I don't know why but in the moment I was like, yeah, that makes sense
02:40:57Like just trot him out there at the end of the what were you thinking hank?
02:40:59Like in in like the third quarter they would get him out there. Oh like they're up, you know
02:41:0415 20 and he checks in but for the last like 30 seconds. Yeah, something like that. Oh, so
02:41:10No, they wouldn't do that. We'll see there's still time
02:41:14Okay
02:41:16Uh, joel being very talented man, not tampering men are allowed to roll their eyes
02:41:21Um might have been allowed to roll their eyes, I don't know about that
02:41:26They are I think that's a I think that's more of a woman's thing
02:41:30That's what
02:41:32Rolling your eyes. I don't know if men are allowed to roll their eyes men roll their arms. Yeah, I don't think so
02:41:38Like it's not it's not illegal
02:41:41Why I think it should be
02:41:44Okay, keep going. All right, fine
02:41:46Uh, or those would have had to sweep the series if you were to consider it a throttling you don't know throttling
02:41:52Okay
02:41:52Well, they throttled them because they lost one game in extra innings and they beat them six to two and eight to two
02:41:58They throttled them
02:42:00they
02:42:01That means nothing. And also there was
02:42:03There were two games. I lost one. Yeah, they throttled them
02:42:07A throttling would be a sweep in the games that they beat them. They throttled them
02:42:13No the game yesterday was not a throttling it was a one-run
02:42:17But it was a one-run game and then they they throttled got a bunch of insurance runs
02:42:22The insurance runs. Yeah, they throttled them
02:42:25And they really technically they had a one-run lead and then all the other runs were just insurance right yesterday was a good game
02:42:32Um throttled today. What?
02:42:35I don't know
02:42:36Water dogs just water dogs don't have a face-off guy, which is crazy. Is that just true?
02:42:41What about they choose to lose every face-off guys? No, he's just
02:42:46He's just a score score guy. He's a guy who scores. So is our new coach is not doing
02:42:51face-offs
02:42:53I think the one they just don't do face-offs because they're I think their face-off guy got hurt
02:42:58And they just choose not to do face-offs because that's how we lost everyone on saturday
02:43:02Was they just won their face off in overtime and scored two seconds later?
02:43:07Yes, that guy had
02:43:09Three goals just off of the face off the face-off guy. Yeah, so crazy. Should we get a new face-off guy?
02:43:15Should we wait for our face-off guy to get healthy?
02:43:17Uh, I don't know. We need we need a face-off guy. This I learned a lot about lax this weekend
02:43:22It was kind of fun. Okay
02:43:26Go birds
02:43:28We were just talking about birds. Okay
02:43:30um
02:43:31I talked to jack mack. He said there's no bugs in the impossible meat
02:43:34That was something I wanted to come back to. Oh, okay
02:43:37Got it. It's soy, right? No, there are bugs. Yeah, the impossible meat. No bugs. Okay. All right
02:43:43lastly
