Leading at Iowa leaves Josh Berry with a ‘what if’ moment

Alex Weaver catches up with Josh Berry after a strong showing at Iowa Speedway.

00:02You guys led some laps, looked like you were having some fun out there today, but so close

00:06to closing the deal and getting that first win.

00:08What happened?

00:09Yeah, I just, you know, first off, just really good job by everybody on the four team.

00:13Just thank you to everybody at Ford and Seared Haas Racing, Overstock, you know, with everything

00:18going on.

00:19These guys are bringing great race cars and Rodney and these boys are doing awesome.

00:22So you know, we were leading, I mean, it was, you know, kind of what if moment, right?

00:29Could this be the night?

00:30But ultimately, we took four on that restart, you know, and a couple took two.

00:34We lost a little track position there and then just the restart didn't go our way at

00:38all.

00:3947 struggled to get going a little bit and we just kind of got, you know, we just got

00:41out of the front two rows and just kind of got mired in the back a little bit.

00:46But all in all, your car was really solid.

00:49We lacked a little bit on the long run and that was probably our longest run at the end

00:53there.

00:54And we just didn't quite have the balance like we wanted.

00:56But all in all, still really proud of the day we've had to lead laps and score stage

01:00points and start where we did.

01:01I mean, that's a lot of positives out of night.

01:04Given the final year of Stewart Haas Racing, we know that you guys are showing your skills

01:07out there, possibly for a job in 2025.

01:10How much is that playing into how you're racing out there?

01:12Yeah, I mean, it's on our minds for sure.

01:15And honestly, I don't know what more I can do to prove that I can race at this level

01:19aside from winning a race.

01:20I mean, I think that's pretty much it.

01:22So if that's if I have to win a race, have a ride next year, then I guess that's what

01:25it will be.

01:26But I feel like we're doing everything right and clearly showing our potential.

01:30And I just can only imagine if a year down the road and working with the same group what

01:36that would be like.
