00:08This is the story of Daryl Oclares.
00:12In order to collect funds for our Paralympic and Paralympic-bound athletes,
00:19the Philippine Sports Commission launched the PSC Invitational Golf Cup last Friday
00:24at the Kanlubang Golf and Country Club in Calamba, Laguna.
00:28More than 100 golfers played in the tournament, including PSC officials, sponsors and stakeholders,
00:37and several well-known sports personalities.
00:40One of them is Barangay Hinebra San Miguel Gen Kingsguard, LA-Tinorio.
00:45In an interview with PDV Sports with Tinorio, he said that he did not hesitate to support the tournament
00:52and help his fellow athletes.
00:55I'm very honored to be invited here and to support our Filipino athletes who will compete in the Paralympics.
01:03I really enjoyed playing golf, but more than that, it's really the fulfillment for me
01:11to be able to support our Filipino athletes who will represent our country
01:18in the biggest stage of international competition, which is the Olympics.
01:24According to PSC Chairman Richard Bachman, their target is to collect Php 2.5 million
01:31to help the training of Olympic and Paralympic-bound athletes.
01:36I was looking at Php 1 million to Php 1.5 million for all the proceeds, but we've exceeded.
01:42It reached Php 2 million, and we're still trying to collate everything,
01:47and it may reach, hopefully, Php 2.5 million. But for now, it's at Php 2 million.
01:53Bachman also thanked everyone in the PSC Invitational Golf Cup.
01:59First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who actively participated, from government sponsors,
02:04from private companies who helped out, from everyone who actively bought tickets.
02:09I know it wasn't cheap. It is expensive, Php 6,000.
02:13And I appreciate all the help.
02:17And this is for our national athletes, to push them for the Paralympics 2024.
02:24For now, there are 15 Filipinos in the Olympics, while 4 for the Paralympics.
02:31PSC plans to wait for other athletes until the end of June
02:37before distributing the collected funds from the golf tournament.
02:41The so-called golf tournament is a proof of PSC's unparalleled support for our athletes
02:47who were tasked to flag the Philippines in the Paralympics.
