00:05Talked to congressman Glenn Thompson earlier
00:07He was talking about the progress made with the farm bill came across with large bipartisan support
00:13Obviously, there's been talk in the Senate as well about their version
00:15Can you tell me about Democrats with their priorities when it came to the farm bill and after that can you also touch on GK Thompson?
00:22Thanks the farm bill came out of this committee with large bipartisan support
00:27That in fact is an inaccurate statement, but no surprise
00:32Farm bill that emerged
00:34from the AG committee
00:37was
00:39decisively opposed by the overwhelming majority of House Democrats
00:43because it was a
00:46Highly partisan farm bill that would cut 30 billion dollars in food and nutritional assistance
00:56Largely and disproportionately
01:00Impacting children and veterans
01:04That partisan farm bill is dead on arrival no one
01:10Believes with any degree of credibility that the farm bill that emerged out of the AG committee has a shot on
01:18the House floor
01:19Or in the United States Senate, it's time
01:22for House Republicans to get serious about
01:25Legislating
01:28Because these reckless legislative joyrides that we are now seeing with the National Defense Authorization Act
01:37As well as the farm bill have no shot zero
01:43Shot of being enacted into law
01:47Why are we wasting?
01:51Time when we should be solving real
01:55problems for
01:56the American people and
01:59building a healthy economy, that's
02:01What House Democrats are all about but unfortunately?
02:06Many of my Republican colleagues continue to play
02:09reckless unnecessary
02:11Political games to follow up on that though
02:14Is there something that would make it more appealing for you or there's the need to be more prioritization for these programs or for farmers?
02:20We are not going to allow draconian cuts to food and nutritional assistance programs for the American people that are designed to benefit children and veterans to go forward
02:36And we are not going to allow extreme MAGA Republicans to devastate our ability to address the climate crisis with the fierce urgency of now
02:45Which is also part of the extreme MAGA Republican objective
02:49Why because many of them have been sent to Congress to do the bidding of big oil
02:58The only way that a farm bill is going to advance into law
03:03Is for the four corners to sit down and have a bipartisan discussion led by Senator Stabenow
03:10in partnership
03:13With Representative David
03:15Thompson
