00:00University Malaysia Sabah students ended their protest over the water shortage issue at their
00:05campus on Saturday morning.
00:08The group had been camping for 17 hours opposite Menara Kinabalu, with the hopes of handing
00:12over their six-point memorandum to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Jinur.
00:17On Friday, the Secretariat of the Protest refused to hand over the memorandum to Deputy
00:21Chief Minister III, Datuk Shahelmay Yahya.
00:25Programme Coordinator Mohamad Norhamdin Nordin said this was because the Chief Minister did
00:29not turn up after they waited for 17 hours.
00:33He said nine people were detained by the police, including a teacher.
00:40He denied that the protest was politically motivated, saying that the presence of political
00:45figures was in their personal capacity.
