00:20Yesterday, the Department of Tourism launched the first Salam Halal Travel and Trade Expo
00:26in a mall in Quezon City.
00:27It was attended by the so-called activities of Sen. Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco,
00:32Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Basilan Loan District Representative Mujib Hataman,
00:36and Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, Abdul Malik Melvin Castellino.
00:41The so-called Expo aims to deepen awareness on Halal practices
00:45and meet the needs of the Muslim community.
00:48The so-called Expo includes various Halal Certified Restaurants,
00:52Accredited Tourism Enterprises, and Attractions.
00:55According to Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco,
00:58the demand for Halal Tourism is increasing rapidly.
01:01The Philippines has steadily increased its appeal to Muslim tourists
01:05by strategically developing their Halal Tourism portfolio,
01:09enhancing Halal accreditation of hotels and restaurants,
01:13and conducting Halal awareness orientations.
01:17In addition, the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
01:24is working to strengthen and improve the Halal and Muslim-friendly tourism in the country,
01:29according to the National Tourism Plan.
01:31We have seen a remarkable recovery of an average of 115%
01:36in tourist arrivals from the Gulf Cooperation Council Middle East countries,
01:42with the UAE leading the surge,
01:45followed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.
01:51These tourism strides underscore our successful initiatives
01:55in positioning the Philippines as a preferred destination for Muslim travelers.
02:00This year, the Philippines was named twice
02:04as the Emerging Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year
02:07by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,
02:11based on the results of the Mastercard Crescent Rating Global Muslim Index.
02:15Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, Abdul Malik Melvin Castellino,
02:20said that the number of Malaysians visiting the country is increasing due to Halal tourism.
02:25We are hoping that more Malaysians,
02:27we are trying to bring in more Malaysian stakeholders and companies into the Philippines
02:31in order for them to grow and develop,
02:33of course, to work together with the Philippines' counterparts to develop this,
