00:23And now that it's Dengue Awareness Month,
00:25several LGUs have organized a clean-up drive to protect their community.
00:30Here's the news in Montinlupa City.
00:34In providing shelter to their families,
00:36this is how the City Health Department of Montinlupa City started their campaign against dengue.
00:41Now that it's raining, it's said that there are more mosquitoes,
00:45especially in areas that are spread out and full of garbage.
00:48Eight barangays in Montinlupa were visited by various volunteers to organize a clean-up drive.
00:53This includes Barangay Putatan.
00:55They collected the garbage and cleaned the riverside.
01:02These bottles were removed one by one from the rainwater.
01:06Actually, not just this month of Dengue,
01:10we should clean the surroundings every month or every day.
01:15These are just a few of the garbage collected in their clean-up drive.
01:19And most of these garbage were collected in remote areas of their barangay
01:25that are said to be a habitat for mosquitoes.
01:28They also gave a Dengue Awareness Seminar to the residents
01:31and distributed leaflets with information on what to know about dengue.
01:36Dengue is deadly.
01:37Once you get dengue, it's definitely fatal and leading to death.
01:41So it's important for each of us to know that dengue is preventable.
01:46We should wear self-protective clothing.
01:48We should wear long-sleeved clothes.
01:52Also, we should wear skin-protective clothing.
01:55According to the Department of Health,
01:56from January to May 1 this year,
01:59they reported almost 60,000 cases of dengue in the country.
02:04And 164 people died.
02:08Kuya Kim, DOH is reminding our loved ones
02:11that they are experiencing symptoms of dengue.
02:14Don't ignore it.
02:15Consult your health professionals immediately.
02:18Always remember, prevention is better than cure.
