00:00Is it over tonight in Dallas?
00:05If we had a show tomorrow, we'd probably ask the same question ahead of game four in Edmonton
00:11of the 2024 Stanley Cup final between the Oilers and the Panthers.
00:15Listen, Florida was the series favorite before things got started.
00:19Boston was the series favorite in the NBA finals before things got started.
00:24So maybe it's not overly shocking that both of those teams are up three games to none.
00:30But here in the Stanley Cup final, it was supposed to be much more competitive.
00:35Last night in game number three, Edmonton back home in Alberta at Rogers Place.
00:40It was the Panthers and Sam Reinhardt scoring the first goal of the game in the first period.
00:45Edmonton did even it up in the second, only for the Panthers to score the final three
00:50goals of that period, including Sasha Barkov that did play last night and had a goal and an assist.
00:58Edmonton made it interesting in the third and final period, but ultimately,
01:02Sergei Bobrovsky has just been too much for Edmonton to get past.
01:07He makes 32 saves last night on 35 shots as the Panthers now hold a commanding 3-0 series
01:14advantage with a 4-3 victory last night as a road underdog in Edmonton.
01:20Look, you need your stars to step up.
01:21Just take a look at the game last night and who scored and who assisted there for Florida.
01:25Goal scorers, Tereschenko, Reinhardt, Bennett, and Barkov.
01:29You take a look at Edmonton, like, oh, it's got to be McDavid.
01:31It's got to be Dreisaitl, Hyman.
01:32No, Fugeli, Broberg, and McLeod.
01:36They could be like a law firm right there that I never even heard of here stepping up and scoring for Edmonton.
01:40Like, we need the big guns here to actually provide some entertainment for the Edmonton Oilers.
01:44We don't need to buy entertainment.
01:45At least get us to a game number five.
01:47So we'll see if they can come up.
01:49Now, at least you had a couple of points there for McDavid last night, and rightfully so.
01:53But we just haven't seen the big guns play all that well.
01:55And that's a credit to the Florida Panthers' top-checking line keeping them in bounds here.
02:00This was supposed to be Conor McDavid's coronation, his first Stanley Cup final appearance, the next chosen one, or great one, if you will, in Edmonton that wears 97 and not 99.
02:12He has had multiple assists.
02:14He had two last night and assisted the only goal for the Oilers in Game 2 in Sunrise, but has not tickled the twine just yet.
02:24So, Florida entered Game 3 a minus 490 series favorite.
02:28Florida is now a minus 2100 series favorite to win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
02:35In the Stanley Cup final, for the third time ever as an organization, for the second consecutive year, one went away from denying Canada yet another
02:44won their first Stanley Cup.
02:45Yeah, and it looks like it's probably going to only go four games.
02:48Now, there's a slight little advantage here for the Edmonton Oilers at a minus 122 price on their home ice.
02:53And theoretically, they should win at least one of those two games at home.
02:57In hockey, you know, hey, your goalie plays a little bit better, your team steps up.
03:00It's tough to sweep teams, specifically in finals.
03:03Now, we're getting that in the NBA as well.
03:05But just focusing on the series, what's the perfect scenario again?
03:09You got to get out early and you got to score the first goal.
03:11I understand it didn't work in game number two, but the recipe for success is not to get behind.
03:16I'm pretty sure like most of the standard bearers here in the playoffs is like, hey, what's the best way to win a game?
03:21Well, 72% of the time when you don't score first, you win.
03:24No, you always do the opposite statistic, Ben.
03:26Team that scores first typically is the team that's going to win that game.
03:29That's all you need to see out of Edmonton at this point.
03:31Maybe the only thing that can save the Edmonton Oilers, hear me out on this, Ben.
03:35Phone call goes in the Wayne Gretzky.
03:38Wayne, we're going to need a little help from you here.
03:40We're going to take down that 99 out of the rafters.
03:43We're going to change in number 97 for 99 for McDavid and see if we can catch that lightning in a bottle.
03:49Might be the only thing we can do, Ben.
03:50It might be the only thing.
03:52Listen, I've seen Gretzky walk around.
03:54The knee still looks spry.
03:56I think he could get out there the great one.
03:58Now, as we look at the rest of the Stanley Cup Final, four games is the shortest in the total duration.
04:04And of course, in the correct score, it's a plus 102 price.
04:07What is that?
04:09Florida's Moneyline number four game, number four tomorrow night at Rogers Place.
04:14The last Stanley Cup Final sweep that we saw was in 1999.
04:19The last time that both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final in the same season ended in four game sweeps.
04:25That was 1995.
04:27We might be seeing history for the first time in nearly three decades.
04:32However, unlike the NBA, when a team has held a 3-0 series lead and we have never seen a comeback,
04:39it has happened four times in Stanley Cup postseason history, including once in the Stanley Cup Final.
04:47Let's travel back to 1942, when the Toronto Maple Leafs were down 0-3 against the Detroit Red Wings
04:54and came back to win it in the sixth.
04:57Will it happen this time around up in the great white north?
05:00What do you think, Donnie?
05:02By the way, if I'm an owner of the team, I'm forcing my teams to lose here in game number four.
05:06Get to home gate in game number five. Buy another house. Buy another house.
05:10Plus 220. That's the number. Hour two next.
