00:00It will be nice and nostalgic to go back, ride back all the way to the same theatre
00:11or area of operations, where so much happened so many years ago.
00:16It is a bit of a part of folklore also now, for us it's an indelible part of life.
00:30I am Major Rajesh Arora. I am a first generation defence person in my family.
00:36I was part of artillery while I served with the Indian Army for 11 years.
00:41I joined with the 101 Regulars, which we formally call as Irregulars, amongst ourselves.
00:50We are one of the forces which had the maximum martyrs.
00:59Losing your co-spirits, your dear ones, it's a mixed kind of rub-off and also one understands
01:08the futility of war.
01:13Closest mate was Vikram Batra.
01:15We used to sleep in one room.
01:16So every room used to have one bed.
01:19So one of us would pull a mattress from his room and go to the other's room, lay the
01:22mattress on the floor and one would sleep on the bed and the other on the floor.
01:28Once Martyrdom news reached us, I think one or two days later, it was a very, very numbing
01:37shock because he was so close to me.
01:41That time one is quite enraged, there is a feeling of vengeance, irrespective of the
01:50cost, to chase out the enemy.
01:59When it was all over, in a way it is the dawning of the futility of war also, because there
02:07is a heavy cost to be paid, heavy price.
02:11Also one becomes aware of the follies of the enemy, which leads to so much of bloodshed.
02:20Biking there will be fun also, it will be a trip down memory lane also, it will be a
02:28bittersweet experience, definitely.
02:31As we go near to the place, we will miss and remember our brothers more who are not there
02:38with us today.
02:39It also embodies the army ethos, let's keep going on, no stopping, keep moving.
