Meet the man spearheading preparations for COP29 in Baku

What can we expect from COP in Baku this November?

00:00Big impact coming from the climate change to people, agriculture, food, water,

00:06and it is so important today to come together.

00:15Daily we face with the climate change impacts.

00:19Different countries, different disasters, warnings coming from the nature.

00:24It's enough information delivered to all of us and already the nations are very, very concerned,

00:30but how to consolidate our activities and deliver positive inputs for all of this action now is the main issue.

00:40I think that for our team is the main task to do.

00:45For our team the task on the first stage to listen, to hear all the voices,

00:51try to absorb all the ideas and to start the negotiation process.

00:58We would like to organize very inclusive NGOs, society representatives, youth, indigenous, international financial institutes, MDBs.

01:08We already invited all the stakeholders, all participants to come to Baku,

01:12and not only to participate but also to lead the process.

01:16Main agenda is climate finance.

01:20Also another one very important, the promises made before, because already 28 COPs and a lot of decisions made.

01:28Let's see how we perform these promises.

01:31It's also important.

01:33Now already we need to implement with the start to action,

01:38start to mobilize all the possible activities and capacities to start the process.

01:48If we take Azerbaijan for example, the country with the big oil and gas history,

01:54but already several years we turned our economy to green growth.

01:59We adopted several governmental programs and green energy now is the main agenda for the country.

02:06Green energy zones established in the country, green energy corridors,

02:10considering to deliver already alternative energy to our neighbors, also to European Union countries.

02:19We start to perform these programs, we see that it's possible.

02:22And Azerbaijan I think is a good example that we are also ready to demonstrate our responsibilities.

02:31Targeting for 1.5 degrees, it is a big task and we only can together make it.

02:38That's why our call to all the countries to be together in very, very important and very complicated time to make a correct decision.

02:47We are ready to provide this platform and we are ready to bring all countries together to make successful Copenhagen.
