00:00The project of shortening the trip from Laguna to Pampanga to just two hours is even more advanced.
00:07Another part of the North-South Commuter Railway System was started earlier.
00:12The target schedule of the first trip was set by Joseph Moro.
00:19This is the continuous construction of the 147-kilometer North-South Commuter Railway System or NSCR.
00:26The ground breaking in Bannik Depot in Calamba, Laguna is one of the three depots where the NSCR will be parked and composed of 60 trains.
00:34But the DOTR is also considering if it is possible to add locally made trains like this made by DOST.
00:46Trains will run in 35 stations from Calamba, Laguna to Clark, Pampanga.
00:51If the NSCR is already operational, the trip to that route will only be two hours.
00:56It will be shorter than the current four hours.
00:59As part of the trip to Santa Rosa, Laguna, which was also visited by the Transportation Secretary,
01:04in 2023, the old railways of the Philippine National Railways or PNR were removed here to replace the NSCR.
01:11Here in Santa Rosa, Laguna, some parts of the NSCR are being constructed,
01:15like the columns for the elevated rails for the station from Calamba to Alabang.
01:22According to the DOTR, the NSCR will be installed as early as possible in 2027.
01:28The trip to Valenzuela to Clark will be the target of the NSCR for that year.
01:33If it is operational, the NSCR will be included in the reduced traffic.
01:37Likewise, the LRT Line 1 Extension will be the target until 2024.
01:43The MRT 7 will be the target to be operational from North Avenue to Lagro in 2025.
01:49And the Metro Manila Subway, which is expected to have partial operations in 2029.
01:55They will be added to the current MRT, LRT Lines 1 and 2, and PNR Bicol.
02:00That's right, because it is possible that the loss in the economy is higher due to the current traffic
02:05compared to the three and a half billion pesos in 2017,
02:09according to the study of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA.
02:13It could reach up to five billion.
02:15If we don't solve our traffic problem, the cost to us will be around five billion a day.
02:22Five billion a day by, maybe, in another five years.
02:26It is estimated that two and a half million passengers will benefit from the completion of all the projects.
02:31The travel of products that will lower the price will also be faster.
02:35We will be able to also implement our Luzon Corridor, our freight rail,
02:43that will really contribute to the development of the freight rail system,
02:50which will benefit the economy.
02:53It will result to lower cost of logistics.
02:57The Mindanao Railway Project from Tagum Davao del Norte to Dico City Davao del Sur will be studied again.
03:03It still needs to be looked for a fund, after it did not move its debt to China.
03:08For GMA Integrated News, Joseph Morong, Nakatutok 24 Hora.
