00:00Update on the effects of the continued activity of the volcano Canlaon.
00:04We are talking with Director Edgar Posadas,
00:07the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense and DRRMC.
00:12Director Posadas, good afternoon.
00:15Good afternoon, Asec. Good afternoon, Ma'am Ninia.
00:19And to everyone who is watching and listening, good afternoon.
00:23From your assessment, how big is the impact of the volcano Canlaon?
00:31Sir, our latest data, this is just the initial of the damage and losses to agriculture.
00:38We already have 104 million, 104.825 million losses to agriculture.
00:47This is based on the Department of Agriculture Bulletin No. 2.
00:52This is in two regions, Western Visayas and Central Visayas.
00:57We have already received assistance totaling 11.346 million
01:05to the affected families in the two affected regions.
01:14Last week, you raised the blue alert status around Mount Canlaon.
01:21Is this still in the same alert status or is there a change?
01:26As of now, Ninia, it's still the same.
01:29Not only there, but to complement the efforts there,
01:35as per the orders of our President and our good Secretary of National Defense,
01:40and Undersecretary Nipong Moseno,
01:43and to continue the coordination of all the regions,
01:47Region 6, 7 and also our NDRIM-OC in Camp Aguinaldo,
01:53we have a blue alert so it will be more effective.
01:56What this means is at least 50 percent of manpower,
02:02both virtually and physically, especially our uniformed services,
02:08for those who need assistance,
02:12it will be readily available both here in the national and regional offices
02:20and our DRIMCs in the two regions.
02:23Director Posadas, are there still places that are in a state of calamity and what are those places?
02:29Yes. There are only two places that are in a state of calamity.
02:35This is still Canlaon City in Negros Oriental and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
02:42OCD and DRIMC also received a copy of their state of calamity resolution.
02:50We also have a copy.
02:55We also asked for an update, Director, on the situation of our countrymen who were evacuated.
03:00How are they now?
03:01What are the supplies they need?
03:03And how many individuals or families were evacuated in total?
03:09As of 9 a.m. earlier, we have affected barangays,
03:1520 in Region 6 in Western Visayas and 5 barangays in Region 7.
03:22Translated to families,
03:24we have 8,580 families and 29,739 individuals.
03:37We have opened evacuation centers, totaling eight in Region 6.
03:46These evacuation centers are catering to 1,309 families or 4,705 individuals.
04:02According to some local officials,
04:04because of the rains, lahar flows have increased in some places
04:09which became the reason for the contamination of water supply there.
04:14Is the situation still the same?
04:17What are the steps and assistance of OCD for this?
04:22Our coordination continues.
04:25In fact, OCD has sent a truck,
04:30our water filtration truck with a seven-man team
04:35to be placed where it is needed to produce dirty water to produce clean drinking water.
04:46This was also discussed by ASEC and Mangminya.
04:50In our last meeting in the response cluster on Tuesday,
04:57this was headed by the DFWD as the vice chair for response and early recovery,
05:03and it was released as a concern.
05:07But for now, according to our regional offices concerned,
05:13the supply is still okay and they can still provide.
05:17But if the need arises, because your OCD and DRIM-C are preparing the worst-case scenario,
05:24this will take a long time.
05:29Our logistics division here in the Office of Civil Defense in Camp Aguinaldo
05:36is ready to provide the bottled water and other necessities
05:44if our people on the ground, the local government needs them.
05:52Also, one of the concerns was the portholet for the evacuation centers
06:04that our people are currently conducting.
06:08But this can be provided and addressed.
06:12Other than that, in health, they also reported
06:17that most of them are respiratory, hypertension and stomach aches,
06:26which is already being addressed.
06:29Those are the common causes of consultation.
06:32But then again, our teams, not only the medicines, are already there in the ground.
06:39That's why we have such data because our health emergency teams are already there on the ground in both regions.
06:50Director, please send a message to our countrymen who are still affected by the volcano Canlaon.
06:56Yes. To our countrymen, we are not yet finished with the volcano Canlaon.
07:03We are still at level 2 and we are listening to the authorities.
07:13Our friends in the PBOCS are always providing their updates.
07:20That is the basis of your Office of Civil Defense and your NDRMC so we can plan.
07:28Your government is here and we are just asking you to be invited to evacuate for a while.
07:36Let's do that.
07:38We assure you that the needs of your countrymen,
07:45if necessary, we will do our best because the resources are available in our regional and national level agencies.
07:57We will be careful and your government is here to meet your needs in this crisis.
08:05Thank you very much for your time, Director Edgar Posadas, the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense and DRRMC.
