With summer travel ahead, we've got a crash course on snacking tips to help fuel your travel days with ease. So how can you make smart eating choices while traveling? First, keep it simple and stay prepared and always make sure to stay hydrated. If traveling by car, pack the trunk with water jugs to refill water bottles. Studies show that thirst may be confused for hunger, meaning we may eat when the body does not actually need fuel. If your mode of travel is plane, then a great refillable water bottle will do the trick. When it comes to packing snacks, go for foods that energize, provide satisfaction and taste great yet are extremely convenient. Quest Dipped Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar has 18g protein, 3g net carb, and only 1g sugar so it's perfect if you're looking for a sweet treat without the carbs and sugar. Next up, to satisfy the entire family. Nut butter packs are perfect when you crave a satisfying dose of healthy fat. Pair with whatever fruit or veggie your family loves. Single-serve convenience and nutrient dense snacks to keep you full until your next meal. If you have options of packing a cooler to take with you, you can take along things such as hummus or guacamole which can be perfectly paired with whole-grain crackers or fresh veggies. These options will provide healthy fat (in the dippers) and fiber (in the crackers)--the latter being an essential component to help maintain regular bathroom habits while traveling. Popcorn is a great option that is full of antioxidants and fiber. Lastly how can we avoid feeling sluggish while traveling? Quest Iced Coffees are perfect for a mid-day pick-me-up because it provides caffeine and protein but will not lead to a sugar crash. They have 10g of protein, 1g of sugar, 90 calories and 200mg caffeine. It's packed with protein to help keep you full and contribute to the maintenance of muscle mass and caffeine in a nonperishable, easy-to-bring with you bottle. 00:00Hi, I'm registered dietitian Kristen Kirkpatrick, and in my 20 years of seeing patients, one
00:09question I get all the time is what do I pack when I'm traveling for me, for my family?
00:14What do I have that keeps people energized?
00:17So it's a really critical component because we want our travel plans to be fun, but we
00:22also want it to be satisfying with the right smart snacks.
00:26So let's start with simplicity.
00:28While we're thinking about what to eat, we often forget about what to drink, and that's
00:32really important because studies show that when we're dehydrated, when we're thirsty,
00:37we can confuse that for feeling like we're hungry when actually we're not hungry, we're
00:41just thirsty.
00:43So making sure we have those water bottles in the car, keeping the jugs of water with
00:46us, making sure if we're traveling on plane, you have a water bottle that you're bringing
00:51with you.
00:52It's going to be really key to stay hydrated, to keep those energy levels up.
00:56The other thing we have to think about is what is really convenient, what is satisfying
01:02for everyone.
01:03So we want to have a lot of different options for different preferences, and then what is
01:07going to be something that keeps those energy levels up.
01:10So I love the Quest Dipped Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars.
01:15They're amazing.
01:1618 grams of protein, so you get that protein, three grams of net carbs, one gram of sugar.
01:21It's got that chocolatey coating, the peanut butter flavor.
01:24This is perfect to bring anywhere because it's easy.
01:28So you can just put it in your glove compartment when you're traveling, you can put it in your
01:31gym bag, you can put it in your plane bag, whatever it is, wherever you're going, this
01:36is an easy option.
01:37If you have a little bit more options in terms of packing things on ice, like a cooler, you
01:42can also go for things like hummus, peanut butter, going with some guacamole.
01:48And you can either pack your own little bento boxes in the car so everyone has their own
01:53little box, or you can go with an option that's more convenient and just get the individual
01:59options as well.
02:01So these are going to give you those healthy fats, which are really essential, but they're
02:05also going to give you that satisfaction of having a dipper.
02:09So what do we dip it with?
02:10Let's look at some fresh vegetables.
02:13Let's look at some whole grain crackers.
02:15Those are things that are going to give you fiber.
02:18And as we leave the house, as we leave our normal environment, our bathroom habits tend
02:22to change.
02:23So fiber can help you stay a little bit more regular while you're on the road.
02:27If you don't want those as dippers and you just want a fiber-rich snack, having fruits,
02:32having popcorn, those are all going to be good options as well.
02:36And then finally, while we're on the road, I know that I often feel sluggish and I'm
02:40looking for a boost of energy.
02:42So caffeine can really help to achieve that.
02:46The Quest iced coffees are a perfect option.
02:4910 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar.
02:52So that means you're not going to get the sugar crash that you might be used to with
02:56other iced coffees that you could get at a convenience store, at a coffee shop, et cetera.
03:02This is a great midday, afternoon, morning, whenever you want that boost of energy.
03:07The Quest iced coffees are great and comes in two delicious flavors.

03:23Bye.
