00:17 As a fan, I've been enjoying it, obviously,
00:19 because I get to hear new music from the both of you.
00:22 But you know, we also know what you guys went through
00:25 and that you guys had differences and things like that.
00:26 That's no secret.
00:28 Do you guys still talk?
00:29 - Man, you know, he's reached out
00:30 and congratulated me.
00:33 And you know, we've chatted through some things.
00:35 We both were obviously sad and definitely, you know,
00:39 bummed out about FGL house closing.
00:41 We both wanted that to continue
00:43 as a real special piece of our legacy.
00:46 So that one, we were both texting each other about that.
00:49 But he just put out a record, my record just came out.
00:52 And so I know we're both probably,
00:54 I know I am flying by the seat of our pants and just,
00:57 you know, he always has my well wishes.
00:58 I want him to crush it.
01:00 I expect nothing less than for him to do that, you know?
01:03 And so, man, we're just both out here giving it hell,
01:08 you know, trying to just chase these dreams
01:11 and we'll see where they bring us back to.
01:14 - And Brian's latest dream, Tennessee Truth, is out now.

01:24 - I'm no different than those
01:25 that are gonna be jamming this record, you know?
01:26 We have the same mindsets.
01:28 Our worlds revolve around the same things.
01:30 That's hunting, fishing, being outdoors, working hard.
01:34 And, you know, at the end of that work,
01:35 having something to look forward to,
01:36 whether that's doing nothing,
01:37 like a song on my record,
01:39 or, you know, getting a little lake day
01:41 and 10 o'clock on the dock
01:42 and it with the love of your life.
01:44 - Because you did write eight out of the 12 songs
01:46 on this project.
01:47 So tell me how that was different,
01:48 to approach this more from that songwriting
01:51 that you've always wanted to do.
01:52 - Yeah, a lot of these songs, you know,
01:55 were written with people
01:56 I hadn't really even written with before.
01:58 Some of them are.
01:59 You never know where a great idea,
02:00 the next great writer,
02:01 and to treat everybody like they're somebody,
02:05 that's how me and my wife like to live our lives.
02:07 And that's a great example that's rubbed off on us.
02:10 And so to not worry about,
02:13 hey, what credentials do they have to be in this room?
02:16 How many hits do they have?
02:17 I wasn't concerned with that.
02:19 I was looking for the truth and the authenticity
02:23 and the ideas every session, right?
02:25 And so, but in terms of that writing experience,
02:28 this record, a lot of new writers.
02:29 And so you're kind of getting to meet them
02:30 and you kind of hear a little bit about them.
02:32 You're like, yeah, we'd probably go fishing together
02:34 just even before you meet them, you know,
02:36 we'd probably get along really well,
02:38 but you just get in there and you go to work.
02:40 - But you've been referring to this album
02:41 as your debut album,
02:42 but you did put out "Sunshine State of Mind" in 2021.
02:45 So why do you feel like this is the project
02:47 that represents you as your debut?
02:49 - Yeah, so, you know, "Sunshine State of Mind,"
02:51 I love that record.
02:52 I'm forever grateful that I put that out.
02:54 There's so many changes in my life
02:56 and even on my team and my world
02:58 from "Sunshine State of Mind" to this.
03:00 It's like, I'm able to really just kind of go for it.
03:03 You know, both records to me are super authentic
03:06 and to who I am and to my voice and also very different.
03:11 You know, a song that best describes me
03:14 and my heart and my lifestyle on Tennessee Truth
03:18 is "Barefeet or Boots."

03:26 That "Barefeet or Boots" lifestyle is my headspace.
03:30 And so, but just sonically, man, you know,
03:33 I wanted to have, I wanted to kind of make a splash,
03:36 I guess you could say, and really just do what I love.
03:39 I mean, I love the sounds of this record.
03:42 Like I wouldn't have put it out if I didn't like it.
