The son of U.S. President Joe Biden has been found guilty of all counts in his federal gun trial. Hunter Biden was found to have lied about his drug addiction when purchasing a firearm.

00:06U.S. President Joe Biden's son Hunter leaves federal court in Delaware a convicted felon.
00:12A jury found him guilty of three felony charges related to a gun he purchased in 2018.
00:18Those include falsifying paperwork to buy a gun
00:22and unlawfully possessing the weapon for 11 days while being a drug user.
00:27Hunter Biden was convicted of two counts of lying on a form submitted to a federal firearms dealer
00:34about his addiction or use of crack cocaine
00:37and possessing a firearm while a user or addict.
00:45Hunter's defense team argued that he was not using drugs at the time of purchase
00:49and did not knowingly violate the law.
00:52But he now faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in jail.
00:57But while prison is a possibility legal experts say for a first-time offender probation is more likely.
01:04Hunter has responded to his verdict saying he's disappointed by the outcome
01:09but grateful for the love and support of his family and friends.
01:14It marks the first time in US history the child of a sitting president has been convicted of a crime.
01:21No one in this country is above the law.
01:23Everyone must be accountable for their actions even this defendant.
01:31President Joe Biden embraced Hunter after flying to Delaware
01:35but earlier at a gun safety summit he did not address the verdict
01:39instead saying in a statement that he loves his son
01:42and will accept the outcome of the case and the judicial process.
01:46The campaign of his presidential rival Donald Trump responded to Hunter's verdict
01:51saying the trial has been nothing more than a distraction.
01:56It's the second guilty verdict to rock the US election campaign in two weeks.
02:01After likely Republican candidate Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records
02:07to influence the 2016 election.
02:10Trump is continuing to rally against that guilty verdict
02:13saying he's the victim of a rigged justice system.
02:17I think this will pose a contrast.
02:20I can say this for the public and they should see the contrast
02:23between one person wanting to blow up the justice system
02:27and the other person accepting it at the pain of his own family.
02:32Democrats are expected to seize on this verdict to counter Donald Trump's claims
02:36of a justice system that's been weaponized against him.
02:41But Hunter Biden's legal troubles don't end here.
02:45He'll face a trial for tax evasion in September
02:47before being handed his sentence for these gun charges.
