The UK economy recorded no growth in April, according to the Office for National Statistics. Gross domestic product was flat during the month, following growth of 0.4% in March, the ONS said. Responding to the figures, Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: “The Prime Minister says the economy has turned a corner, but the numbers today show that the economy is flatlining, there is no growth at all. It is this prime minister that has presided over this state of affairs." Report by Covellm. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

00:00The Prime Minister says the economy has turned a corner, but the numbers today show that
00:04the economy is flatlining. There is no growth at all. And it's this Prime Minister and this
00:10Chancellor that has presided over this state of affairs with an economy that has barely
00:15grown these last 14 years. Yesterday, the Prime Minister published a desperate wish
00:20list of giveaways, but frankly the money is not there. And if the Prime Minister did have
00:27a chance to implement this, what would end up happening is that mortgages would go up
00:32by £4,800 for the average family. The country can't afford five more years of the Conservatives.
00:39Only Labour has a plan to grow our economy and tackle the cost of living crisis. The
00:43Conservatives have no plan for growth, no plan for lifting living standards. Labour's
00:49plan built on a platform of stability and investment and reform is the only game in
00:55town for turning round a flatlining economy and improving living standards for ordinary
01:00families and pensioners.
