00:00If dad was here he'd probably say something really humble and something about now the
00:06town can walk all over him or something along those lines but he's not so we get to talk
00:11about him in a different way.
00:13We're really appreciative of this plaque, it will be really important to the City of
00:19Wagga but it's really also important to us and our family, our kids and our grandkids
00:25to come who will be able to come and see and find Poppy here instead of you know often
00:30people will do that in a cemetery but this is what we get to remember him by and this
00:34is going to be around for a long time so we're really grateful for that.
00:38Peter's enduring legacy lives on through countless students, artists, musicians and the crew that
00:43he influenced.
00:45He taught us to care deeply for each other and our community, to nurture and care for
00:50the creativity that lives within all of us and to live our lives to the fullest.
00:55It's therefore very fitting that we civically acknowledge this incredible individual through
01:00a walk of honour placement here in our city.
01:02He was a teacher in Wagga, an actor in Wagga, a writer in Wagga, a director in Wagga, a
01:08producer and a mentor in Wagga.
01:11His contribution to the arts can't be underappreciated I think in what it does for our city.
01:20Thank you again everybody to the council and to everybody who's here today and thank you
01:24for remembering our dad, mum's husband, for the daggy thespian that he is and was.
01:30Thank you.
01:32Our captain was a restless man who drove his sailors hard.
01:41Man of destinations, ideas, promises and starts.
01:49He'd say get up, rise up and give your best or you'll all be left behind.
01:58When you signed up to be my sailor, you signed up to work with pride.
02:07Let's sing a song about sailing until we all meet again.
02:16Somewhere over the horizon where the wind is fair.
02:24No more songs about sorrow, no more songs about pain.
02:32Let's sing a song about sailing until we all meet again.
