00:11 A huge shark came out of the reticulated python or "sawa" here in Laguna
00:16 (music)
00:20 The shark covered the left eye of the male "sawa"
00:24 (music)
00:32 This "sawang" was rescued by residents near a house in Laguna
00:37 The "sawang" was planning to eat the calapatis in a place
00:42 (music)
00:46 It was brought here to Calawan Rescue Center
00:48 This is what they call a snake, we saw it with a "buko" in its eyes
00:53 (music)
01:03 We've been rescuing pythons for a long time
01:05 This is the first time I've seen a tumor on a wild python
01:09 Practically young, still young
01:11 Half of its head is filled with a mass
01:16 Looks like a tumor coming out of the eyeball
01:19 Although I'm not too sure
01:21 So what we're going to do, I want to examine this further
01:25 We'll do some imaging and some check
01:29 And then I want to remove this
01:32 And send this to the laboratory for biopsy and find out what this one is
01:38 (music)
01:41 But even though there's a heavy weight that's weighing it down
01:44 The "sawang" is still strong and agile
01:48 (music)
01:53 If we can remove this and treat it, there's a good chance that it will live
01:58 And it can be brought back to the wild
02:00 (music)
02:12 We're going to first sedate this animal
02:16 So it can have a bit of muscle relaxation
02:19 While I was examining the python, I noticed another wound
02:24 Oh, there's something here
02:27 There's a wound here, I just noticed it
02:32 We'll cut this off
02:35 (music)
02:36 To examine it properly, I also did an X-ray of the "sawang"
02:41 We can see the lesions really coming from there
02:46 Not affecting the bone itself, it's a soft tissue
02:49 (music)
02:54 It's not a joke to operate on reptiles like the "sawang"
02:59 Because their recovery phase is long
03:02 So we're very careful with all the procedures
03:06 (music)
03:08 Within 30 minutes, we were able to remove the "sawang"
03:12 But there's another good news
03:16 The eyeball is intact
03:18 I'm not sure if this can be seen
03:20 But it's intact, so I'm not going to remove it
03:24 We're just going to fix what we can oppose
03:30 (music)
03:38 I gave the "sawang" an antibiotic and pain reliever
03:44 And to hydrate it, we gave it fluids
03:50 I also gave the "sawang" post-operation care
03:55 (music)
