00:00 So how has that been?
00:00 How's dad life?
00:01 How are you feeling?
00:02 Really great.
00:03 Like, people get mad at us, we feel so good.
00:06 Because we're sleeping-- we're almost sleeping more now
00:08 than we did before.
00:09 Because for about a month-- he's 11 weeks old today.
00:13 And for the last month, he slept from 8 PM to 7 AM every night.
00:16 You are so lucky.
00:17 I know.
00:18 Because I've heard Horace-- even my little brother just
00:20 didn't sleep for three years.
00:22 And so he's happy.
00:24 He's had a personality since the first week we brought him home.
00:27 He smiles all the time.
00:28 It's been really great.
00:29 Your parents lost three years of their life.
00:31 They'll never get it back.
00:32 100%.
00:33 That kid was away.
00:34 They're just zombies.
00:34 That's just a blur.
00:35 You've got your own career up being a front man.
00:39 But then you also-- you're a writer.
00:41 You've written for a while.
00:42 Like, Darius Rucker, Kane Brown.
00:45 Give me just a takeaway from working with those guys.
00:48 You know what?
00:49 It's actually been more so--
00:51 a lot of people ask that-- working with them.
00:53 And it's more like, they got the song.
00:55 Yeah.
00:55 Because I basically go in every day--
00:57 I've never had any luck saying, you know what?
00:59 I'm going to write a Dan and Che song today.
01:02 I'm going to go in and try to get a cut for Dan and Che.
01:04 But I got one on their last record.
01:06 Me and Dan are buddies, and Che too.
01:07 And so he hit us and was like, any songs
01:10 that you feel great about?
01:11 And I sent them a folder of songs
01:13 that I had written for me, but that weren't something
01:15 that I was about to use.
01:17 And they ended up cutting one.
01:19 Same with Lainey Wilson's last record.
01:20 There's a song called "Live Off" that I had a vocal on first.
01:23 And then she ended up hearing it, and then she
01:25 put a vocal on it.
01:26 And we all kind of agreed, like, that fits you even more.
01:28 You know, it had-- just the lyric
01:30 was a little more country and a little more
01:32 lainey than it was me.
01:33 And that's how everything's happened.
01:34 Same with Darius Rucker, Gabby Barrett.
01:36 A lot of these cuts have just been--
01:38 Gabby, someone actually got to write it with in the room,
01:40 which is cool, because I love female voices,
01:44 and especially hers.
01:45 It's so good.
01:46 And so on those rare times that you
01:48 can write these melodies that normally I
01:50 can't write for myself because I can't get way up there,
01:53 you know?
01:54 That's fun to be able to aim at a voice like that.
01:55 - Yeah, so creatively you get to explore things.
01:57 - Yeah, it makes you write a little bit differently.
