Abandoned military tunnels on Taiwan's outlying Penghu Islands are being repurposed to showcase art from the local community.

00:16this 120-meter-long tunnel was once used by Taiwan's Air Force
00:20as a combat readiness facility.
00:31Due to its strategic position in the Taiwan Strait,
00:34the Penghu Archipelago still has a heavy military presence.
00:38But this disused facility is going to give visitors a look
00:41into another side of the island chain's culture,
00:44its local art scene.
01:01Subsidized by the central government,
01:03renovations of the old military base cost around US$250,000
01:08and will add a new artistic landmark to Penghu.
