00:00 Up towards the final chicane and it's a rhythm circle.
00:04 Ooh, we got a snap of Ogier there at the first apex, had to cut across the kerb.
00:08 Let's have a little look again. We were watching from the, how he shot,
00:12 in he goes and then he's not going to make it.
00:14 Now technically he's come back onto the track the wrong way there
00:17 and you are meant to go to the left of the bollards.
00:21 Difficult to do given that he was quite a way over to the right at the run-off area.
00:26 Already the steering, super weird for me.
00:30 Well, so what's he not feeling and what is he feeling?
00:36 I wonder, what does Max Verstappen look for when attacking a corner like that final chicane?
00:44 One lap cycle, oh dear, of the tyres and they say benefited from it.
00:48 That is Joe Guagnou who hit the wall yesterday in the FP1 session
00:54 and has now done something similar but at a different corner in his FP3 session.
00:59 It's right down there at the exit of the pit lane by turn 2.
01:03 And it's pretty muddy and he's got the car beached in the soft turf.
01:09 And he's okay, which is good, but he's caused the second red flag of the weekend, which is bad.
01:16 Yeah, it's not ideal for a driver who's trying to secure a seat for next year
01:20 and to have caused two red flags, but also crucially to miss out on the session
01:27 that is going to be fundamental for getting a good result in qualifying.
01:31 And he hasn't got a representative time on the board.
01:34 We're just having a little look here, the replay is about to come up.
01:38 Let's see as he heads through turn 1.
01:41 Bit of a snap there. He snatched the front left, Crofty.
01:45 He got on the brakes, slight lock-up, but I think he just went in with too much speed.
01:50 Didn't get the retardation he wanted. Into 1, rear of the car comes around.
01:56 I have no idea what's happening with the car.
01:59 But the car is so strange, man. It just locked up all the rears.
02:04 Hulkenberg moves up.
02:11 We assume he will move up, he hasn't done it before.
02:15 Up to 8th, meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo.
02:17 10 years! 10 years for Daniel Ricciardo as Alex Alvar goes off onto the run-off area.
02:24 10 years to the day since Daniel Ricciardo got his maiden win in Formula 1.
02:28 For example, we'll see here, I'm sure, he turns in, then gets a sort of instability on the rear.
02:34 And from that point...
02:35 Are we OK with the brakes? Everything feels off.
02:38 The stopping power feels terrible.
02:41 Yeah, at that point, for him to then turn left on the wet grass...
02:48 He's going to spin.
02:49 Yeah, he'd spin.
02:50 So, he's done the right thing, and I'm sure the stewards will see the same thing.
02:54 Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas and the one Salva still running in this session.
02:58 He just fancied that the McLaren was in the wrong place for him a bit there.
03:03 I think Bottas, they can actually get out of that Q1.
03:05 But yeah, lots of learning going on down here in the Salva garage.
03:09 Sergio Perez flirting with the walls and then getting rather held up by the Haas.
03:14 Yeah, what the f*** the Haas did?
03:16 Yeah, I mean, that was just complete lack of communication there.
03:22 All for nothing, but that's been the approach we have been taking to try to provide us qualifying.
03:28 Laurent, we're just looking at a replay here of Daniel coming out of Turn 4
03:33 past the groundhog on screen.
03:36 Still lots of cooling to the hands.
03:40 Still the brakes.
03:42 Copy.
03:43 So, Alex Salva not the only one a little unhappy with the consistency in braking.
03:50 And Charles Leclerc is finding that a bit on those medium tyres as well.
03:58 Look at braking zone from maximum speed of about 210 miles an hour on this Saturday practice session
04:05 down to second gear through that chicane.
04:08 And a 1.13.5 for Charles Leclerc.
04:12 Good job, the nails of the final chicane.
04:16 He'll be three or four tenths to the good or slightly wide of the second apex.
04:22 He got a good run into the first one.
04:24 I think he just, yeah, look, he's lost time in the last second. I think he didn't quite get the second apex right,
04:29 but still enough from the first two thirds of the lap to take him to the top of the times.
04:34 Here's Logan Sargent, who's going to get the mother of all toes, but then can't use it because he gets too fast.
04:39 What is this guy doing, man?
04:41 So, does he mean the guy he was trying to get the toe from, Lewis Hamilton,
04:49 or the guy that was driving to the right, which was the Ferrari?
04:53 As we see, Alban up to the final chicane. Personal best middle sector, down sector.
04:58 Oh, clouted the inside of, touched the wall.
05:00 Yeah, he did.
05:01 I think on the right-hand side.
05:03 Jacques Champion's Wall has another member to the club.
05:08 Let's watch it. I saw it when we were live. It's the left kerb.
05:11 Watch, he gets the first apex. Let's watch it there.
05:15 That's fine. Then he hits that kerb there.
05:17 He touched the orange kerb and then just spat him off to the wall on the right.
05:22 We can see better from this angle, I'm sure.
05:25 There, just a little, little touch is enough to put him into the outside wall.
05:33 You can see it's bent inwards. There we go.
05:36 So, right rear is where the impact happened.
05:39 Meanwhile, Hamilton down the main straight.
05:42 He comes, a 1.12.5. Told you it was a good lap from Hamilton.
05:45 7 tenths up on George Russell and the fastest time we've had so far this weekend.
05:52 He's jumping around a lot, like up and down, especially breaking into one.
05:57 I miss it.
05:59 Which is not where you want.
06:04 This is George Russell who's been noted for failing to follow the race director's instructions
06:08 because he did that and didn't go to the left of the bollard.
06:11 Alex Albon did it earlier in the session. He got no further investigation.
06:15 Through the final chicane.
06:18 The man is out, qualified Fernando Alonso, the last three races, and goes second fastest.
06:23 Half a second behind Lewis Hamilton.
06:26 Let's have a look, Roch, this is the last chicane.
06:28 I'm coming out of it slowly. There again.
06:30 That's the entry into it.
06:31 Just a little snap there.
06:32 But George, he got through the corner, but the rear of the car didn't seem planted for him there on corner entry.
06:39 Oh, now Logan Sargent.
06:42 What's he doing, man?
06:44 Honestly, that's nearly huge.
06:47 In the paddock of Ferrari being the favourites this weekend, Charles Leclerc.
06:50 Either he's a tremendous poker player.
06:53 Oh, just touched the wall there.
06:56 Or they are genuinely struggling.
06:59 I hit a little bit of wall on the right rear.
07:02 OK, understood.
07:03 As we go into qualifying for Lewis Hamilton, though, it's the fastest in FP3
07:08 and a track that he's taken six pole positions at in his previous visits
07:13 and has never started outside the top five.
07:15 Max Verstappen, who has been on pole here and has won for the last two years,
07:20 second in that session ahead of George Russell, with Lance Stroll keeping the home fans happy,
07:24 fourth and Oscar Piastri fifth.
07:26 Then Daniel Ricciardo, an encouraging practice session for him,
07:29 and Lando Norris, sixth and seventh, Alonso eighth, Perez,
07:33 and then Charles Leclerc leading Ferrari eight tenths down on Lewis Hamilton.
07:37 Carlos Sainz, a second down, was only twelfth fastest.
07:40 Joe Guainu had his accident, never put the soft tyres on.
07:44 It's a very competitive qualifying.
07:47 A lot of people seem to be struggling out there.
07:49 Lewis Hamilton today in FP3 didn't seem to be one of them.
