00:02:55 Today is Friday June 7th, and the Boston Celtics are up 1-0 on the Dallas Mavericks
00:03:02 after an absolute
00:03:05 Shit-kicking Hank. Yeah, great game great game looked like in the third quarter. They were gonna do the classic Celtics thing
00:03:12 Let the other team back in turns to a close game
00:03:15 But they called a timeout when they cut the lead to 8
00:03:17 Went on an 8-0 run after that and it was smooth sailing from there
00:03:21 Yeah, it's a shame that Jason Kidd couldn't give another halftime speech where he said everyone remember to have fun out there in the NBA
00:03:27 Finals he said when you're given to have fun speech you lost
00:03:29 I don't think that you can come back with a have fun speech
00:03:33 But I guess they did come back a little bit in the third quarter. Yeah, no, they definitely did
00:03:36 I mean they made it an eight-point game and then it was and then when you looked up at the end of the third quarter
00:03:41 The Mavs had only won the quarter by one point and they took their best punch and the Celtics came out with way more energy
00:03:47 They looked better poor Zingas kind of rope a doping everyone. He's like, I don't know if I'm a hundred percent
00:03:54 He looked he didn't look a hundred when he started the game. He looked slow. They were kind of picking rolling
00:03:58 He wasn't really closing out. He wasn't really contesting shots. I was like, oh, yeah, he's definitely not a hundred percent
00:04:03 And then he just made 20 shots in a row. Yeah, he was he was the best player on the court for a little bit
00:04:08 And that first quarter it was unreal. This is a big-time revenge series for Chris stops
00:04:11 Hank you are you are very confident right now. Are we still thinking Celtics in six?
00:04:17 Yeah, we're thinking something's like the Mavs aren't gonna go away
00:04:20 They're gonna they're gonna give us their best shot
00:04:24 But it's it might be something some time. I did not realize this was gonna be a Bill Walton game
00:04:29 Yeah, that would have affected things quite a bit for me the family's there. They're wearing the Bill Walton jerseys
00:04:35 They're where they're passing out the Bill Walton buttons and stickers before the game
00:04:38 If there is an afterlife where you can control something that happens on planet Earth
00:04:43 I'm certain that Bill Walton would be doing everything in his power to control this game. This should have been an easy bet
00:04:48 Yes, the one thing you could say if you're the Mavericks you couldn't played worse couldn't played with less energy coming out
00:04:54 The Celtics hit every shot in the first half and
00:04:58 Jason kid also sucks at game ones
00:05:00 So that was I think the Wolves series was the first time he had won a game one for the Mavericks
00:05:07 He is notoriously been slow starting with his teams in a series
00:05:12 But it definitely looked like the Celtics were the better team all around because they just have an answer
00:05:17 They it's the role players. It's what we talk right. It's it's different than the than the series
00:05:22 they just finished where you know Carl Anthony Towns couldn't hit a three and Rudy Gobert is
00:05:27 Nothing on offense and you can basically play a different style of defense when there's only a certain amount of guys can hit a shot
00:05:34 Everyone on the Celtics can hit a shot. So who's the MVP after one game Jalen? Yeah. Yeah Jalen
00:05:39 I am looking forward to the discourse if he wins MVP
00:05:42 That is crazy that the Celtics won by as much as they won by and Jason Tatum was not good
00:05:47 I think that's a good thing. Yeah. No, I'm saying that's crazy
00:05:50 Like if he he's not gonna be not good for the entire series
00:05:53 He's eventually going to be good. And yeah, the the the Mavs role players
00:05:58 Didn't show up
00:06:01 Luca started slow. He had that third quarter where he was incredible
00:06:04 And yeah, you can't you can't expect to win this series if Kyrie's gonna only score 12 points
00:06:09 Yeah, they did a good job not biting on his you know, Luca always is trying to draw fouls
00:06:12 I feel like Jalen Brown we said it he did he got snubbed for
00:06:15 NBA all defense and he took that personally and he came out and he was playing a really good defense every time look it was
00:06:20 Pump faking he was letting him shoot it and Luca never does he just always pump fakes and then passes
00:06:24 It was it was just a great great great great game one. Yeah, happy basketballs back
00:06:29 It was a long wait and it was a great payoff. It's good to pass balls back
00:06:32 I still think that the Mavs were stupid to wear these jerseys in game one
00:06:37 I don't know if they did that because Luca looks very slim. Everything in blue. I was thinking blue these jerseys
00:06:43 Feel like the jerseys you wear for Star Wars night in like early February. Yeah
00:06:49 Yeah, I also think the white Celtics jerseys. They're just that's a big game Jersey. Yeah, I just yeah
00:06:54 I just feel like it was crazy because if you had said before that the that the Mavs were the team
00:07:01 Or sorry, the Celtics were the team that had the longer rest and also had just played significantly less games
00:07:07 Weren't in the rhythm of like a big-time game. What are you talking about? They look as sharp as could be
00:07:12 Yeah, they weaponized time. Yeah, they did they weaponized time Mavs max
00:07:17 Celtics and four. Oh
00:07:19 No, I mean this team fucking sucked tonight. These role players were horrible
00:07:26 We have a role players play better at home. Well, the the Celtics got more fucking home games
00:07:31 I'm gonna go down. They're gonna win at least a game suck. I I stand by Celtics in five. I feel good about that three
00:07:37 Listen, we can't overreact to one game max. Hank's the fucking worst. I fucking hate when hey, uh
00:07:43 Yeah, continue continue continue. You're just such a fucking podcast. You gotta talk you gotta talk
00:07:49 Silent when your team loses you gotta let your feelings out
00:07:53 You're the worst
00:07:55 Max here's a spin zone for you for Mavs max at least you still have your reservation at for Charles Prime the Celtics have
00:08:02 Eight guys should who should have a hundred million dollar contract. Wait, what I said, let's listen Jalen Brown
00:08:09 Jason Tatum, yeah poor Zingas Derek white
00:08:12 I
00:08:13 Mean Pritchard friend of the program holiday
00:08:16 Gone tonight Sam Hauser Sam Hauser stud
00:08:20 Al Horford did you say Al Horford such a poor fucking work for July?
00:08:26 Could have used a guy like
00:08:29 Al Horford is the worst
00:08:31 I think the Mavericks remember when it seemed like he was like his career was over on the Sixers
00:08:35 I was like seven. I don't remember didn't want to play there need a better environment. I think he signed there
00:08:40 He chose to play there. By the way, Luca having one assist that tells you how bad everyone else played because Luke
00:08:47 No
00:08:49 Hey, you know how an assist work
00:08:51 It's a fact that you have to make the shot all their shots or pass early on
00:08:55 It was like nobody should have thrown more lobs, but you like Luca didn't have only one
00:08:59 Pass tonight. He they were just they missed everything
00:09:05 Luca didn't play great. But one assist we played better than Jason Tatum
00:09:09 Do you understand how assists work like with one assist means that the other guys you have to make the shot for the assist account
00:09:15 Yeah, you got to make better passes. It was guys better. Look it's great great team defense by the Celtics
00:09:20 You say drew holiday? Yeah. Yeah
00:09:24 Geez, you could I couldn't even say the one assist without Hank it and lost curious how you're gonna
00:09:30 You know because an assist you have to pass the ball
00:09:32 Then the person has to make the shot the rest of the good passes though the Mavs
00:09:37 Didn't make the shots should have done more lobs. Yeah, Kyrie was really bad
00:09:42 Lucky revenge game. No, the Mavs were bad. I mean the Celtics were it wasn't as in the Mavs were bad
00:09:48 The Celts were just like they came out and they were like, hey, we're playing in the NBA Finals right now
00:09:52 They looked as sharp as sharp could be. I don't think this series is over either
00:09:55 I think the Mavs could easily come back win game - it is, you know a blowout like that will wake you up
00:10:01 Yeah, you think statement loss you think that was a statement loss?
00:10:04 We can see your fucking face you think this series is over I
00:10:12 Don't yes, I do. It's not yes you do. It's a seven game series. What's the six games?
00:10:18 Those were two different Hank would you you would have rather won this game by like two points three notes?
00:10:23 No, but I'm just I don't think the Mavs are gonna roll over and die. I
00:10:27 Think like Kyrie's not gonna play that bad. Luca is gonna make some better passes next game get some more assists
00:10:33 Yeah, Kyrie was very very bad. Um, I
00:10:37 Mean the so this other does defend well
00:10:40 Yeah more depth there was that one moment where Kyrie looked like he was open and it was just porzingis standing with his arm out
00:10:46 And and someone in the gambling cave was like shoot it dude. It's like boy
00:10:49 He he can't porzingis is a fucking monster like he looks like he's open from the angle
00:10:55 But he's 100% not open and he looks very healthy
00:10:58 Very healthy. Yeah porzingis does
00:11:01 Max you didn't even say you didn't like my spin zone
00:11:04 What he was just so I have your reservation at for Charles Prime. This is just a bad joke
00:11:10 Why this is the second time that Jerry's done this to me what happened?
00:11:14 Jerry's good at getting reservations in New York City got me a reservation and then ever after he books the reservation for me
00:11:21 Yeah, he just tells me every day that he accidentally canceled it. So did he cancel it?
00:11:25 Yeah, apparently. Oh, oh, I didn't know that. Yeah. This is I mean, this is a bad joke that like
00:11:32 This is not a good joke for the listener. Can't you get it back? I
00:11:35 Don't care. I don't care. Do you have to reply error?
00:11:38 Yeah, well I was playing into Jerry's a little bit Oh
00:11:42 Got it. Got it. Okay
00:11:45 You know max really is angry when he tells everybody like this is the listeners hate this. Yeah, let's just hate this
00:11:51 They fucking hate this. Do you think the listeners like mav max?
00:11:54 No, I shouldn't I should just go actually no, that would be Hank. I
00:12:00 Whatever. He can't even speak
00:12:03 Is max I'll agree with you. He is annoying but he his team won game one. You can't really like what are you gonna say?
00:12:11 Nothing. Nothing. You gotta talk max when you
00:12:15 He answered the question. I can't say anything
00:12:17 You won you won you win it you win. I write three years you fucking win
00:12:22 You know what?
00:12:23 I'm happy for Hank right now in this moment
00:12:24 But I hate boss but I can assure you that if they win game two and game three and Hank just
00:12:29 The the shit-eating grin become shittier and grinnier
00:12:33 I'm gonna start to hate Hank too because this this cockiness is gonna carry over all summer
00:12:38 But it was good that we got just a clean
00:12:40 Hey, hey discussion we got game one out of the way because the we had the worst combo of Hank today because we're dealing with
00:12:45 Cocky angry now, which I have no problem with cocky Hank
00:12:47 We had nervous Hank all day and he was just a little annoying you'll hear for us to show
00:12:52 He's annoying. I was getting fits off in it. It was you're just you think I was in early mode. Yeah, I'm rooting for you Hank
00:12:58 I truly am but I don't want to see you sweep. I want to see you sweat a little bit. I
00:13:02 Mean I'm room for sweet
00:13:07 Okay, I had two other things I wanted to say before we kick it back to ourselves talk some Dan Hurley
00:13:13 this one is and we're gonna talk about Dan Hurley, but
00:13:17 Our friend Adam Lefkoe had a very interesting tweet that I very much enjoyed
00:13:22 It's it was titled the tradition of LeBron or his team looking to overshadow game one of the NBA Finals continues
00:13:31 2024 Dan Hurley JJ Redick coach mania
00:13:36 2023 LeBron retirement rumors plus biopic
00:13:40 shooting stars premiere
00:13:42 2022 I forgot about this one Forbes announces LeBron is a billionaire the day of game one. That's great
00:13:48 He really is the best of it
00:13:50 He's really good at doing that and then also watching the finals and be like damn. This is so good
00:13:55 I wish I wish we were in this not happening again next year
00:13:57 Yeah, I'm gonna be back
00:13:58 But that is some really good game one news that he needed to have out there
00:14:03 And he there's no doubt that he planned this whole Dan Hurley thing for having it all day on game one
00:14:09 Yeah
00:14:10 Also, he said important moment for a sports night love and respect to Doris Burke and everything
00:14:14 She does to elevate all of us. You're a goat and then everybody started to congratulate LeBron James on congratulating Doris Burke
00:14:20 Yes, like this is this is what an ally looks like. What a great great tweet by LeBron
00:14:25 He also had he said I'm so effin
00:14:29 With some stars in it mad that I'm not his running mate anymore talking about Kyrie
00:14:34 Yeah, Kendrick Perkins called him out was like dude. Shut up. It's game one of the finals
00:14:38 But let this be game one of the finals because he was just like damn I should be with Kyrie right now
00:14:44 Yeah, the finals
00:14:46 Okay. The other thing I had was I'm worried about Mike McDaniels. Why what's up? Mike McDaniels?
00:14:53 Is so the Dolphins have not won a playoff game in 24 years
00:14:59 He now has every staff meeting. He puts it 24 on the hour. I
00:15:04 Don't like that like 724. I don't like that now, you know because you're just thinking about it all the time
00:15:10 Yeah, I don't know if he was being cheeky with it
00:15:12 But I probably just did that so that the the big team meeting could start for 24 or 4 minutes after yeah
00:15:17 I was ready for it
00:15:18 I will hold reservation because Mike McDaniels is a funny guy and he probably he might be just fucking with the media
00:15:23 But if this is true, this makes me nervous
00:15:27 This is like after the double-doink year when Matt Nagy ended every practice with all the kickers having to kick a 41 yarder
00:15:33 Yeah, it's in his head, right?
00:15:35 It's his head and so you're just making everybody in the building think about how long it's been all the time, right?
00:15:39 Not the best way to do it. No, I did
00:15:41 I thought of a great a great be a shame and I'm so it's a shame that I thought of it so late
00:15:47 I think the ultimate shame would be if Justin Fields won a Super Bowl with the Steelers
00:15:51 That would be a shame that would be right people really like the shameless a crying shame
00:15:56 Yeah, we might have to do an updated shameless. I'm six months
00:15:59 I'm not gonna root for it
00:16:00 But if if it does happen just know that it would be a it would be a shame shame
00:16:04 That would be a very big shame
00:16:06 It'd be a shame if Max's reservation got canceled before Charles Prime
00:16:10 It'd be a shame if me and Max had to go to game for and shoot a PM TV
00:16:13 Oh, that would be a shame. Where would that be?
00:16:16 Dallas, oh, okay. Is that on the table?
00:16:19 Mavs Max you love that you love the man. Oh
00:16:25 What I have to be it I have to be in Philly for PLA
00:16:28 Well, we can do a different weekend for that right? What day? Yeah, what day? I don't know
00:16:32 Sounds like it's really locked in we can definitely locked in. I don't know what day game for is. Mm. Oh, yeah
00:16:39 Game for his Friday. Yeah, he's right. Sorry
00:16:42 He does know that Saturday you just get up this flight like 530 in the morning
00:16:46 Oh, yeah, you could that would be a shame if you had to get to 530 in the morning flight
00:16:49 It'd be a shame if you had to follow Hank with a camera wherever he went. Mm-hmm, wherever you were ever
00:16:56 Until any bedroom his eyes to fall asleep any concourses bedrooms as it can
00:17:01 He is more torn up about this than he was about this. It's crazy. No after the sick
00:17:07 Oh, he's just bad. He just hates Hank. He really hates after the Sixers loss
00:17:11 He was like it feels different. This one feels different. Yeah out now this feels bad for Matt
00:17:16 I think it's also the problem is Mavs Max is a great nickname
00:17:20 Yeah, and he it's just one gay. He quit in the second quarter Mavs Max died in the second quarter tonight
00:17:27 Dead. Yeah, I
00:17:29 Already tried to cash out my future, but I place it in Jersey so I can't oh
00:17:33 Shit, that's a shame that is
00:17:36 I'll buy your ticket for five bucks
00:17:44 Just kidding no, he won't you you're not gonna take it no Matt. I can't I'm not declined declined declined ten bucks
00:17:51 All right, let's kick it to ourselves

00:19:13 Dan Hurley might be the new
00:19:16 Lakers head coach according to the Woj bomb that went out at 4 5 in the morning
00:19:23 He said breaking the ESPN story in the Los Angeles Lakers preparing massive
00:19:27 Long-term offer to bring UConn's Dan Hurley to the NBA with talks expect expected to escalate in coming days
00:19:35 So we when we had Dan Hurley on I believe this was two years ago
00:19:39 We asked him about taking an NBA job, and he said not now. I've got a lot to learn
00:19:44 He also said the league might not be ready for a guy like him
00:19:47 That's a fact might be true
00:19:48 But then he also said it's a challenge that he could see himself doing at some point in the future
00:19:52 It sounds like they're about to just back up the truck for him
00:19:55 Yeah, if they if they actually pull a truck into his driveway like a Brinks truck. Yep. You have to take that deal
00:20:00 I thought the weirdest part of this whole thing was buried in Woj's article
00:20:05 They talked about how getting Dan Hurley on board could benefit
00:20:09 Brani James if the Lakers were to draft him and how Dan Hurley could could help him
00:20:14 Step his game up and develop as an NBA player. That is the craziest thing
00:20:19 I've ever heard to be considering a coach
00:20:22 Based on the fact that a guy you might draft in the second round might get a little bit better a guy
00:20:27 That's not even on the team yet the son of your superstar. He could help him with his development. That's crazy to me
00:20:33 But then I thought to myself wait a second
00:20:35 What if it's a tit-for-tat situation and Dan Hurley says I'll do it. I'll sign off on drafting Brani
00:20:42 I'll help develop him
00:20:44 But you also have to sign Andrew Hurley and he gets to get in all the games
00:20:48 Yeah to eat the turn to be the turnover sponge. Yeah at the end of every game if his son's on the team
00:20:53 My son's on the team. Yeah
00:20:55 That that part of the story was very funny because it would just it would be just as easy easier
00:21:00 Way easier actually to just have Brani
00:21:02 Transfer to UConn. Yeah, why not just transfer UConn and stay in college and actually learn from Dan Hurley right now
00:21:09 But LeBron has tweeted about how much he likes Dan Hurley Dan Hurley is an incredible coach
00:21:15 The Lakers are one of those jobs. I mean coach K which we'll get to in a second flirted with it 20 years ago
00:21:21 But the Lakers are one of those jobs that I think every single
00:21:24 college basketball coach picks up the phone for
00:21:27 Because you know, they'll always get free agents and they'll always find a way to be relevant
00:21:33 My only so there are two things initially that I thought one
00:21:38 Shams got his lunch eaten on this one because Shams has basically been talking about JJ Redick to the Lakers
00:21:44 almost being a done deal for the last two weeks and
00:21:48 Woj this the the Woj Shams rivalry is so great because you know how much pleasure this gave Woj to just
00:21:56 Dunk on him at 5 in the morning Shams probably woke up saw it
00:22:01 Was like clutch has been lying to me all this stuff and he has to just sit there and pray
00:22:08 That talks fall through with Dan Hurley and they end up with JJ Redick, but I was thinking about it
00:22:15 I think Dan Hurley would be awesome at the Lakers. I think he would be he's gonna coach
00:22:19 He's gonna be a great coach no matter where he goes
00:22:21 the only thing that doesn't really make sense to me is I do think the Lakers like LeBron's not gonna play forever and he is
00:22:28 He's fickle at best like he could he's not gonna give you a long-term commitment
00:22:34 So why would you take it now when you know you could maybe stay at UConn and the Lakers will still be there in
00:22:39 A couple years from now when they eventually fire whoever they hire this cycle and then just take him over that
00:22:46 I would love to see Dan Hurley take a hands-on approaching like he did at UConn
00:22:50 Like go on the court and push LeBron James. Oh, he will play
00:22:53 I don't think he'll go there if he can't coach the way he wants to coach that would be awesome
00:22:57 Also, Dan Hurley doesn't strike me as an LA guy
00:22:59 No, he's not laid-back enough, but he would bring the fire to LA
00:23:02 No, I mean he's a UConn. He's a New Jersey guy. He's never leaving. Trust me. I'm right. There's there's there's
00:23:08 There's two ways is gonna play out
00:23:10 One is the there Lakers are gonna offer him so much money that he can't turn it down and you're gonna say, okay
00:23:15 Well, Dan Hurley good job like you you deserve this and yeah, you got to take this offer
00:23:19 And the other thing that could happen very well
00:23:22 And I could see it in my head is Dan Hurley sitting at his desk that he tweets a picture on
00:23:27 Sunday night maybe with just the number seven because they have six and they're going for their seventh
00:23:33 And he's like, yeah, my wife couldn't find it a good like hoagie place in LA. So we're job's not finished
00:23:40 You know be great. Yeah, let me strike that reverse, you know be a real shame
00:23:45 Hmm, it'd be a real shame if Dan Hurley left and then you can't hire Jay, right?
00:23:50 That'd be that'd be a real shame
00:23:55 Hoping for this to happen so so bad such a shame max and pug the whole big East. Yeah, they all need Dan Hurley out
00:24:01 Uh, I don't I don't know which way this is gonna go. I I wonder do you think JJ feels like he's being used a little bit
00:24:08 I actually think that this might be an entire Duke conspiracy because yeah coach K. Yeah. No, I was sweet about this morning
00:24:16 I was right on it. Okay did all of this but think about yeah with the JJ Redick thing - no
00:24:21 yeah, no coach K was was named a
00:24:23 unofficial
00:24:25 What was I'm gonna get the sick area? I'm gonna get the exact you get named something but it's unofficial
00:24:30 We we you shut up for a second with your little vest
00:24:33 You just tell him to shut the fuck up shut the fuck up for a second satisfy Lakers reportedly using Mike
00:24:37 Krzyzewski is unofficial resource in coaching search
00:24:40 Coach K sees Dan Hurley win his second national title back-to-back
00:24:45 He looks around he says look there's a lot of a lot of guys in in college basketball that will never reach where I'm at
00:24:54 They won't be the old-school tough style like Dan Hurley. He's a throwback. He's a relic. I got to figure out a way to
00:25:01 Make sure that Dan Hurley doesn't surpass me as the goat or alleged goat by coach K standards
00:25:09 He's not my goat goat college basketball coach
00:25:12 I'm the unofficial
00:25:15 Resource in this searching job, and he's just basically every time they bring up who should we hire?
00:25:21 He's like you know I'm thinking Dan Hurley. He's getting Dan Hurley to go
00:25:26 to the Lakers so Dan Hurley can't take
00:25:30 everything from John Shire and Duke and
00:25:33 Coach K and all his legacy and stuff and he used JJ Redick so when he knows very well
00:25:38 I think he's a pawn in the scheme
00:25:40 I think he might have engineered the entire podcast and yeah like hey you guys do a podcast and then we're gonna set that up
00:25:46 When the coaching thing becomes available, then we're gonna link JJ heavily to it. I'll call Shams
00:25:51 Get Shams to endorse this and then everyone's thinking Oh JJ
00:25:55 Oh JJ
00:25:56 No one's on the phone pick up the phone to call Dan Hurley and then boom we do the old replace last second the old
00:26:01 switcheroo and don't put it past coach K
00:26:03 Don't put it past coach K
00:26:06 To not try to take down all of college basketball because Dan Hurley is a throwback coach if we lose Dan Hurley in college
00:26:14 Basketball I would I will be upset he is we had all these you know tough guys
00:26:20 Hard-nosed guys the Patino's the Bayhimes the Izzo's still around but you know
00:26:26 You know still around Tino is still around but we we're losing a lot of them
00:26:30 All right, it's fine
00:26:30 The Bayhimes the coach K's the Roy Williams the John Thompson Bobby Knight the Rolly
00:26:36 Massimino's the Bobby Knights guys are like a hundred years a Jay writes
00:26:40 We don't have any old-school coaches anymore. Dan Hurley is what college basketball has been for a very long time
00:26:47 Coach K is trying to basically I think he wants college basketball to not exist in five years. That's what he's trying to do
00:26:54 He's trying to take down the entire
00:26:56 NCAA tournament he doesn't he wants it all to end
00:26:59 He's a classic just pull up the ladder on you
00:27:02 if you were Dan Hurley
00:27:04 would you rather go to the Lakers and
00:27:06 And get paid a lot more money and not have to recruit and not have to worry about NIL all that stuff
00:27:12 But you also have the threat of being fired every single season sometimes in season. Mm-hmm
00:27:17 If if LeBron James doesn't like you enough, mm-hmm. Yeah, but then he could go back to college. Yeah, you can he could
00:27:22 I
00:27:25 What max I think that he's done everything that he needs to do in college. He should go mute your mic
00:27:30 He should go at my oh, I want to go. I want new now
00:27:33 I want to go and I want Jay right to sign on that that's not gonna happen. It's not gonna happen
00:27:37 Jay, right we just go back. There's no chance. No, I would go to you. No chance. No zero chance zero
00:27:42 He'd wait one more year for them to have a bad season fire Neptune and go back. Yeah anything
00:27:47 I feel like although Nova's back Oh Nova's back. Did you go?
00:27:50 Whoa coach K is is trying to ruin you con you con fans don't take this
00:27:56 This is if you if you are trying to blame anyone do not blame Dan Hurley for being off for being an incredible coach and being
00:28:02 Offered a lot of money
00:28:03 Blame coach K. He's behind all of this. That's a bunch of donkey crap
00:28:08 You said that cuz you're in the Shrek costume Hank's doing a bit where he dressed up today
00:28:12 no, we
00:28:15 Did Dungeons and Dragons earlier and I just didn't change been busy. Yeah, you've been really busy. He's been busy trying to nap
00:28:21 It's a good nap. What do you think? What do you think about this Hank? I think it's a bunch of malarkey
00:28:26 Oh, you think he's gonna stay I mean I?
00:28:28 Are you think that I think I think he is gonna stay this actually does remind me of
00:28:35 Coach K. Well, and he always stayed. Yeah, there is there's like that was every summer. It was coach K's going to Laker
00:28:41 Yeah, the there is a strong possibility in all of this
00:28:45 that Dan Hurley has just won two national titles and
00:28:50 He's got a fight. He's got a new recruits
00:28:54 He's got new transfer portal guys, and he now has to find a way to motivate him
00:28:58 So he's like, all right. Well, it's just leaked that I'm going to Lakers and then he comes back and then he comes
00:29:02 I'm not leaving. Yeah, it's a good that would be a good motivational tactic
00:29:06 I think he might be bored with college basketball at this point the last two the last two NCAA tournaments
00:29:12 He's just dominated so hard. There's no way that's just fucking crushed
00:29:16 the other thing to your point which has nothing to do with coach K is that
00:29:19 It's tough to be a hard-nosed coach in today's day and age when the transfer portal exists. You're too hard
00:29:24 They did that leave but that it's way harder to be hard-nosed coach in the NBA
00:29:28 But you get paid a lot more. You don't have to worry about the transfer portal like Dan Hurley
00:29:32 if
00:29:33 You can't coach the same way that you used to be able to coach because smash on the NBA
00:29:38 But it's a completely that's a completely different game
00:29:40 How much money would they have to offer him because he probably got do we know the terms 12?
00:29:44 Like he can't coach what he wants to coach in the NBA
00:29:48 At UConn, but he has been coaching that way, but it's probably a lot and it's probably dealing with a lot of bullshit
00:29:54 Or you could get paid
00:29:56 Fuck you money to go coach the best players in the world
00:29:59 Yeah, the fuck you money is the part that you know, like 20 mil a year. I don't know
00:30:03 I don't know what the offer was 100 mil over however many years. I
00:30:08 Have no idea. I hope we don't lose him in college basketball. I really don't want to see that happen. And I also
00:30:14 It would be funny because I honestly think that if LeBron tried to use Dan Hurley as a scapegoat Dan Hurley would just fight him
00:30:22 Yeah, no end of the season if LeBron said the yeah
00:30:26 That was Dan Hurley's fault our coach didn't coach well enough. He'll just come in and be like, okay fight me
00:30:31 He probably just publicly say like we're trading LeBron James. Yeah, you don't want to see that. You don't think that would be great
00:30:36 Dan
00:30:37 You are so biased right now. You're very biased. I understand. I understand your bias and I you should be taking the stance you're taking but
00:30:44 Don't what everything you say is is very biased, but go ahead. That's everything. That's everything. Yeah, that's everything in the show
00:30:51 That's fair. But I mean Dan Hurley with the Lakers would make the Lakers way more entertaining next agreed
00:30:57 I just do you understand my point about college basketball? We've lost horse. Yeah, we've lost all the
00:31:02 The real coach I want him gone. I know you want you would you rather Dan Hurley a Kentucky or Lakers?
00:31:10 Kentucky yeah, because then you get to keep them in college basketball. I could see UConn fans cry. Oh
00:31:19 Yeah, I mean you really yeah, I want Dan Hurley gone, okay, I don't blame you for that at all
00:31:23 You know not as you have to they're just so dominant
00:31:26 That's maybe maybe bored is the wrong the wrong choice of terms
00:31:29 But I do think that he's accomplished a lot in college basketball and he feels like a guy who's ready for different challenges
00:31:36 Yeah for sure. I just I don't know if I would want the challenge to me would not be to
00:31:40 Coach LeBron where he's desperate and will blame anyone but LeBron
00:31:45 Maybe the challenge is try to win a championship with LeBron's son. Yeah in the rotation. Yeah, so we'll see what happens
00:31:52 We'll update obviously on Monday
00:31:53 I think maybe if something happens Johnny Fanta will come on also if
00:31:57 They're dead set if they're making this pitch to him like we want you in case we do draft Brani
00:32:01 Another team should just draft Brani and then try to trade him to the Lakers. Yeah, most valuable poker chip of all time
00:32:07 Yeah for Anthony Davis straight up. Yeah, I
00:32:09 Won Anthony Davis you're essentially kidnapping LeBron James son
00:32:13 Yeah, I mean like all you have to do is is give me your second guy and then now we can all be friends again
00:32:17 Yeah, I uh
00:32:19 How about how bad do you think Shams feels right now?
00:32:21 He's got to just be praying that Dan Hurley says no mm-hmm has to pray and you JJ is he I?
00:32:28 I'm actually this is good for JJ Redick. It's good for him because now he's the big name out there so next opening
00:32:34 They're gonna talk to JJ. Well. It also is a good little reminder. You haven't coached yet
00:32:39 Yeah, and you yeah you go you go behind Dan Hurley, but he's already he's already skipped to the front of the line right so the
00:32:45 Next coaching vacancy. It's like okay. I guess JJ is a name that we should interview. Yeah
00:32:49 Coach K will probably get that's probably the end part of it. You gotta get over it you go over it
00:32:55 No, you know I don't know I don't know I don't
00:32:57 This is coach K. Will probably get JJ JJ's first coaching job will probably be the Olympic team this year
00:33:03 Yeah, that's probably winning gold medal. Yeah front of the line I
00:33:08 Still have the coach K little cheat. Yeah, no, we'll update it in my wallet. Yeah, it's in - well for two years
00:33:14 Yeah, we will we will update it with
00:33:16 What he's done here by trying to eliminate Dan Hurley so you come fans. Just remember it was coach K
00:33:22 Did you see coach K got a highway named after him?
00:33:24 No like that's normal. Yeah, that makes sense
00:33:27 He's probably donated like billions to charity. Do you think he's gonna let his friends drive on the highway?
00:33:33 What
00:33:37 Good a lot. What I didn't make a joke. What do you mean his friends big cat?
00:33:41 I don't know any of his friends from coaching. Yeah, do you think he's gonna let his do you think he's gonna let Paolo?
00:33:46 Bankero, I mean his grandson. Yeah, and I way yeah, I don't know. Oh, I don't know who you thought I was talking about Jake
00:33:53 No, oh
00:33:56 Okay, probably not all of his friends. Yeah, there's probably one friend. He doesn't want yeah, Tony Stewart
00:34:04 Okay, anything else before we get ready, oh I saw Angel Hernandez Jeff Passan said that
00:34:09 Bullying worked in this case and that he was sick of seeing himself dragged on the internet all the time. So we did it
00:34:16 Yeah, we did it guys. Congratulations. It's it's was a big year for bullying
00:34:20 We've got this and then we've got the Heisman Trophy going back to Reggie Bush
00:34:24 Yeah, and I making things happen
00:34:26 It is very funny that Angel Hernandez would say I was sick of watching myself being dragged online
00:34:32 When all he could do is just he could easily fix that by not being terrible. Yeah. Well, he can't eject the Internet
00:34:38 He can't throw the Internet out of the game. Yeah, why are they being so why are they replaying all of these times?
00:34:44 I've gotten balls and strikes wrong
00:34:46 I hope I hope that MLB brings him on as an analyst as like a rules analyst the way they did remember when Mike Carey came
00:34:52 On in the NFL and he got every prediction wrong every that was incredible if they bring Angel Hernandez in for the playoffs
00:34:58 He's like, I think that's a strike. Yes. It's like clearly outside the box. We need that
00:35:02 Yeah, come on so bad do the right thing MLB. Yes
00:35:05 I guess we'll talk max. Will you talk a little bit about your deli slicer during fire fest or you want to talk about right now?
00:35:11 We can we can do it later. Okay, boy. Is it a fire fest? There's some fire fest aspect
00:35:18 Okay, then we'll save it for later because your your deli slicer has arrived
00:35:21 Yeah, you know you are you're living out your fantasy of being just a strong Italian man memes wants you to know or
00:35:29 College football the schedule. Oh, yes. That was a good point. Yeah, we got the college football playoff schedule and it
00:35:38 Fucking rocks. There's so much football starting in December so much football
00:35:43 There's also just so much more football in January now that is going to be we've almost
00:35:49 Eliminated January. Yeah, which is great
00:35:53 Yeah, we the January's that we were both born in January
00:35:57 It's the worst month. It's it's just a month of pure sports now. Yeah, and just looking forward to sports
00:36:03 so pull it up it is um
00:36:05 It's it's perfect because we have a Friday game then three Saturday games right before Christmas
00:36:12 and then we have a New Year's Eve game and then three New Year's Day games, which is gonna be great and then
00:36:19 We get the special Thursday. I think I think January 9th is week. That's right before week 18
00:36:27 So that would be right when we were getting weaned off of Thursday night games
00:36:31 Mm-hmm, so they throw a Thursday night game in there and a Friday and a Friday
00:36:35 Which leads us into week 18. So the January 9th weekend think about that
00:36:41 10 years ago
00:36:44 Was that even was that was that divisional round already? No, it wasn't visual round, but it was wildcard weekend not super wildcard weekend. So
00:36:52 10 years ago. We had four football games that weekend
00:36:56 This did now the the first full weekend of January is a full week 18 and two
00:37:03 College football playoff game. It's pretty sweet. And then Monday January 20th national championship. Is that is that MLK Day?
00:37:09 That is MLK Day. That's also coming off. I think that's also inauguration. Oh good. Yep, and that is also coming
00:37:16 That'll be fun. That is coming off of I think that's super wildcard weekend 11 12 13 is actually super wildcard
00:37:23 Oh, it is. Yeah, so I guess everything's up this week. Okay, 18 19 is divisional. Okay, so super wildcard weekend
00:37:30 So we're gonna have the semifinals Thursday Friday and then super wildcard weekend. That's gonna be that's the best
00:37:36 That's the best stretch. I hope the new president or the president goes to that game the day after they get inaugurated
00:37:43 Yeah, what uh, wait, when is the Super Bowl this year?
00:37:46 February what?
00:37:48 It's not President's Day
00:37:51 But it's like 9th, okay. Okay, so it's early it's earlier than it's been
00:37:56 Yeah, January is January and December are incredible this year incredible
00:38:01 This is a whole my whole plan just eliminate if we could just get football
00:38:04 As much football in January as possible to just get rid of January as a month
00:38:10 Oh, we even we get that Friday December 20th game. We get a Friday night college football playoff game. No, it's Monday, January 20
00:38:17 No Friday, December 20th. Oh, yes. Yes one Friday
00:38:20 Three Saturdays. Yeah, and then New Year's Eve then three New Year's Day
00:38:25 It is interesting how this is going to go head-to-head with some NFL games, which we usually don't see which ones
00:38:30 The 21st is going to be Tecton's Chiefs and Steelers Ravens. Hmm. That's fine
00:38:37 You just get have multiple TVs. Yeah. No, it's just these marquee college games usually are standalone
00:38:42 It's gonna be tricky for the travel schedule around Christmas time that that weekend that also our show. Yeah, we're gonna have to do some shows
00:38:50 Yep, I did think about that. So December 23rd that Monday
00:38:56 Yeah, which that would be we would normally would have definitely show there
00:38:59 Yeah, and then we're gonna have to do a show on the Wednesday January 1st. Yep
00:39:04 Yeah, which we would have probably had to do a show anyway, but yeah, I'm excited a lot more football
00:39:09 Okay
00:39:10 Let's get some hockey talk because we haven't previewed the Stanley Cup final yet. We got biz and we got Edmonton Oilers

00:40:13 Okay, we now welcome on
00:40:16 One of the best guys ever so it is Paul Bissonette our great friend
00:40:21 First of all, congrats on a great season on TNT. I know the boys are wrapped up for the Stanley Cup final
00:40:27 Let's talk some final. Let's let's get going. Let's get into it. You want to here's what I'll start with
00:40:33 Paul Bissonette, you know, that's so well
00:40:36 If the Oilers win
00:40:41 What what is the X factor for them and then do the same thing for the Panthers give us the X factor
00:40:47 I love doing the X back. I think we started to do it last year
00:40:51 Maybe the year before and I think what was like they get fucked off with these X factors
00:40:55 But then now he's an X factor day play cuz I don't know what it is biz
00:40:59 And this is this is a little tip for you. I mean, you you know this you you're very successful in everything
00:41:04 Oh man, explain it to me, please
00:41:07 I'm not gonna say what you think I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say is the at least for this show
00:41:12 When we have a guest on like you who knows hockey so well when I asked for the X factors
00:41:18 I'm basically asking for you to give us a name or two or a
00:41:23 situation that all of our listeners can walk around this weekend at the bar and
00:41:28 Sound smart and they can be like, yeah, you know if the Oilers do this and then everyone's like, oh shit, you know your puck
00:41:35 It's like no, they just listen to biz
00:41:37 Okay. All right. I like this. I like this
00:41:39 Okay, so when we when we talk about the X factors on the pod, we usually refer to a team who might be
00:41:45 Going into the series where we think they might lose like right now I have Florida and six, right?
00:41:51 I think that overall they have the better team
00:41:53 But I think if these two X factors step up the Oilers have a chance to win one of which
00:41:59 Apparently you have on today's show. It's a Vander Kane. Yes. Yeah. Okay. All right
00:42:05 Okay, so if Vander Kane is like your prototypical power forward in the NHL, he's nasty
00:42:12 He can play with a physical edge and he's tough as shit. I think he grew up a boxer
00:42:17 He's actually I believe he's named after a Vander Holyfield. Did he explain that and in the midst of the interview?
00:42:22 Yeah, yes, so he hasn't quite been himself over the past couple years going back to two playoffs ago
00:42:30 He had 13 goals that might have led all of playoffs and they were ended up being getting swept in the conference finals
00:42:36 If he can get to playing that nasty that nasty style of play play physical and find his goal scoring edge
00:42:44 I think that that helps them out so much because he hasn't been there quite all of this playoff like this playoff
00:42:51 I think right now they have him going into this round on the third line
00:42:53 Even if he stays there if he can be that impact in this series
00:42:57 it's gonna matter because Florida a very physical team can beat you up and
00:43:03 They're so deep up front where they have guys on the third line like London
00:43:07 Oh, we're putting the puck in the back of that
00:43:09 So he needs to be an x-factor
00:43:11 the other x-factor was a guy that
00:43:13 Half of the fan base was kind of thrown on their bus going back to the Vancouver round and that was Darnell nurse
00:43:19 Big defenseman. He's earning a lot of money. I think his cap hit is just over 9 million and
00:43:26 Although he makes that type of money. He's not that type of player. He's not a kill McCarr
00:43:31 So what he needs to do his up his game defensively
00:43:34 Make sure he's boxing out in front of the net and he's also playing with that nastiness
00:43:39 After the game in which he got called out
00:43:41 There was a guy a weird pregame press conference around his stall where all the the media members were grilling him
00:43:48 He was giving short answers that night and at that point I think he was - 12 in playoffs not great
00:43:54 He started off the game in the first five minutes - - boom one in the back of his net on a two-on-one
00:43:59 Boom, the other one hits his ass in the back
00:44:01 So it was just like a bad luck streak mixed along with not good playing and then I feel like he just snapped after that
00:44:07 He ended up getting an assist that game and then he finished with 12 hits
00:44:11 Double digits and hits we need that from him every game this series and if they those two x-factors do that
00:44:18 I believe the Edmonton Oilers along with all the other pieces do have the possibility of winning this in seven games
00:44:25 Okay, okay
00:44:26 But you picked the you picked the Panthers and I saw a great he kind of trashed you over
00:44:30 He reminded you that you picked the story. He's on the Oilers payroll
00:44:33 So let's not go over there and he's also won four cups with them. So let's not go there
00:44:37 Well, he does live in South Florida, right? Yeah, so I I don't know
00:44:41 I'm just saying what the great one told me on TV was that
00:44:44 He shouldn't trust you because the pick that you had in the last year was ass
00:44:48 Okay
00:44:49 Okay
00:44:51 So I had Dallas and six. I thought they were they were the better overall team and
00:44:56 Edmonton kind of now the new team of destiny that the Rangers have been pigeon-tossed to the side
00:45:02 I do believe that the Oilers could do it, but they have to have all
00:45:07 systems go Florida is
00:45:09 Expected to be there. They have the goal tending. They have more depth on defense
00:45:15 They're overall better on defense Edmonton Oilers argument and their fan bases argument might be that you don't have an Evan Bouchard
00:45:22 Evan Bouchard, I believe currently he has 27 points in these playoffs
00:45:26 he's 10 away from the from Paul coffee who set the
00:45:30 Record for 37 points in a postseason playoff run when they obviously went on to win the Cup
00:45:37 I believe that anybody who's ever hit 29 points as a defenseman individually
00:45:43 I want to say kale McCarr hit that two years ago when they won the Stanley Cup
00:45:46 Everybody in the one to four slot who has had that many points as a d-man their team has gone on to win the Cup
00:45:53 So that might be the argument on the back end for Oilers fans to say we have another X factor whammy. Oh
00:46:00 another
00:46:03 Three X factors, yeah, they might have triple X triple. I also got that in the stands - yes
00:46:08 that's
00:46:10 The tits McGee baby. Yeah, I the big the big jugs come out in Dallas, but not those nice ones like in Edmonton boys
00:46:17 Yeah, she had a nice little punch belly - she had that big black leather belt, which you know
00:46:23 She wants to be choked and spanked
00:46:25 You did some deep diving on I didn't get around to analyzing the boy do you mean I did our race texting with her
00:46:32 And to make matters even crazier
00:46:36 The texts have not been going through that well because she apparently is at one bar
00:46:41 Because she works up north and Alberta at the oil
00:46:44 This is just it's just too perfect. So can you explain to me how this shakes out for Canada as a whole?
00:46:52 I know it's big if Canada wins the Stanley Cup back
00:46:54 But I know that like Maple Leafs fans are Maple Leafs fans and that's it
00:46:57 Is that the same way for for Senators fans and for Canucks fans?
00:47:00 Or is there some sort of like unification in Canada right now where it's like we need the cut back on our soil
00:47:07 Okay, so before I answer that just to quickly go back because I got distracted by tits McGee and then at the forward position
00:47:12 Yes, Edmonton has dry Seidel and McDavid who are our
00:47:16 World class top of the game probably top three players in the world McDavid being number one
00:47:22 Overall Florida has a deeper offense up front. They have a better better four lines
00:47:27 That's you cannot debate that anybody who has half a brain in the hockey world will tell you that so going back to the is
00:47:35 Canada, let me ask it again. I fucking nailed it the first time ask it. Let me let me set you up again
00:47:39 Let's I want to hear it. Maybe this is a major major major
00:47:43 Major Stanley Cup for the entire country of Canada. It's been so long
00:47:48 1993 they've been waiting since 1993 to get the cup back on home ice in Canada and
00:47:54 The thing is there's multiple Canadian teams and I know that the Maple Leafs fans only care about the Maple Leafs
00:48:00 Senators fans, I don't know are they pulling for Edmonton or Canucks fans or Flames fans?
00:48:05 Or is this only the city of Edmonton and their supporters that have been waiting so long for another Stanley Cup?
00:48:10 Are they the only ones that are really taking this set that seriously making it that big of a deal or is it the entire?
00:48:16 country of Canada
00:48:18 Okay, so the first time I was unbelievable. No, you may be the first time is better
00:48:23 Song of my my question great question great
00:48:27 No, because you being long-winded with it and throwing all this stuff at me. It may be it reminded me
00:48:31 I believe it was Wayne who said that all Canada is going to be behind Edmonton this on the panel
00:48:37 That's kind of what what sparked this whole conversation now
00:48:40 I would argue that I think that more Canadians overall from a percentage standpoint are
00:48:45 Interested on whether Connor McDavid will look this down
00:48:49 Rather than maybe more so the Oilers and a Canadian team winning it
00:48:55 I believe that the fact that it's Connor McDavid this generational talent a guy who has poured his heart and soul
00:49:01 Every fiber of his being into hockey since probably the young young age of like six years old. This guy's a phenom
00:49:10 He deserves a cup, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything
00:49:15 You dealt with it with a guy like Ovechkin who had done all he did in the goal-scoring
00:49:19 Department and everything he done for the game
00:49:21 but what was held against him didn't have a fact that he'd never won a cup and then he did and then it was like
00:49:27 Ah, the weight of the fucking world was off his shoulders. So in order to be considered a great in the hockey world
00:49:34 You have to get a Stanley Cup that is non-negotiable and this is his first crack at it
00:49:40 So I think that that interest is more impactful in my mind than Edmonton itself winning
00:49:46 But as a Canadian and as a Leafs fan, I am I want Edmonton to win because I would love to see the cup
00:49:53 Come back to Canada. Yes. I also think it's you can kind of like compartmentalize because it's a little bit
00:49:59 It's not the exact same but it's it's similar to
00:50:02 College sports and rooting for your conference
00:50:07 I never really actually root for my conference
00:50:09 But there are certain things that are in the back of your mind like for March Madness
00:50:13 The Big Ten has not won a national title in like 20 plus years
00:50:17 I was not rooting for Purdue when they were in the national title this year
00:50:21 But if they had won I then would have used that going forward to be like, hey, we're not a joke anymore
00:50:25 So it's like you're not maybe a Maple Leafs fans not actively rooting for the Oilers
00:50:29 But if the Oilers win, you know that you can at least like not have to deal with these jokes anymore
00:50:34 That's okay. That's fair. And there's also like a tinfoil hat theory that Gary Bettman is like, you know, okay
00:50:42 Yeah, these Canadian fan bases
00:50:44 they're gonna sell out every every building but he's more concerned about growing the game in the States and and
00:50:48 Favoritism towards these American teams and blah blah blah blah blah. Yeah
00:50:53 Agreed with with part of what you're saying
00:50:56 I think that Canadian people just want to say ha the Cubs back in Canada. Fuck you
00:51:02 Okay, so we talked about the Edmonton Oilers
00:51:04 X-factors you have the Panthers in six
00:51:08 Is it as simple as if the Panthers play their game they should win this series?
00:51:12 Yeah
00:51:13 if they're so last year the issue with the Florida was with a they were a little bit banged up going into that finals and
00:51:19 of course
00:51:20 Maybe the lack of experience and the fact that they had to really turn it on from the all-star break last year all the way
00:51:26 To to the Stanley Cup final in which it took a lot out of them
00:51:31 They are a better overall team this year. They still have the goal tending from a broski that they had last year
00:51:37 I think they're a little bit better on defense because they picked up all of her Ekman Larson who's making under three million dollars and
00:51:44 You know when he was at the top of his game when I was playing with him with the Arizona Coyotes
00:51:49 You know, he's at least a number two on most teams in the NHL
00:51:53 So now he's basically in the in the bottom three defense of that team and as well as a guy
00:51:59 Mikola who's six six huge body
00:52:02 So these are they're like five and six defensemen that they have who are once again, they're not anchors. They're very legitimate D
00:52:09 Yeah, and then
00:52:11 Like I said going up front man
00:52:14 Like they have guys who aren't even gonna be in a lineup who are valuable players that could be inserted on their third lines
00:52:20 So they are all systems go Sasha Barkov
00:52:23 Easily in the world right now
00:52:25 Probably the new on Zayko Pitar as the best 200 foot center a guy who could be a point-of-game player
00:52:31 But he's fast. He back checks like a maniac. He's the most reliable center ice
00:52:38 Position player I believe on the planet even more so than McDavid from a defensive standpoint
00:52:45 Maybe that not that offensive flare
00:52:47 But then you got Matthew could Chuck you got Sam Bennett the menace who will fucking knock you out with a sucker shot if you're
00:52:53 Not even paying attention
00:52:55 Carter for Haggie as we call him for swaggy so clutch with the goal scoring and the list goes on and on and on
00:53:03 I said loose terrain and and then Lindell those are like their their second wave of offense
00:53:07 There are very very few weaknesses if they're all systems go
00:53:12 It's gonna be very difficult for the Edmonton Oilers to beat this team
00:53:15 But what they don't have are Connor McDavid and Leon and rice idle if they are going beast mode
00:53:22 Then it's a it's a whole new series and who knows but listen
00:53:27 I think this is probably that one of the best matchups we've seen in the Stanley Cup finals in a very very long time
00:53:33 I'm excited for it and we were talking with Kane about how good their power play is in Edmonton
00:53:37 Is there something about their game that that they do that?
00:53:41 Invites more penalties that like they said they set up plays they work the puck around they put the other team in a position
00:53:48 To commit penalties so that way they get that man advantage really hammer home the power play
00:53:53 Well, I mean it also depends who you're playing, right?
00:53:56 So they played Dallas last round where for the most part Dallas was one of the most disciplined
00:54:01 Teams all season long as well into playoffs
00:54:04 Maybe a little less towards the end of the series and that's when Edmonton's power play started clicking but
00:54:10 The way to draw penalties in hockey is you know, you got to win your one-on-one battles
00:54:15 so if you beat a guy, you know, he's either got a hook you on the way to the net trip you do what he can and
00:54:20 Edmonton does have individual players like McDavid dry sidle
00:54:24 You know Hyman's really good in the net front
00:54:27 He demands a lot of attention and they do have players where yeah
00:54:30 You have to maybe pay a little bit more attention and haul them down
00:54:33 More so than usual and that's just based on the power and speed of the top-end skill that they do have but once again
00:54:41 that's not something that Florida doesn't have either but the good the
00:54:45 the
00:54:47 What's even been even more impressive about the Edmonton Oilers aside from their amazing power play that I want to say is clicking above
00:54:53 35% for playoffs is their penalty kill they've killed off 28 straight penalties
00:54:59 The NHL record in playoffs I believe is 38 straight which is that's even crazier the fact that somebody did that but
00:55:07 Edmonton's PK throughout the season was miss Matt
00:55:10 It was very average even after knob block their new coach who took over after about 15 games
00:55:16 He handed it off to Mark Stewart
00:55:18 The penalty kill was actually even went down a little bit from that first 15 games where I think that in the last
00:55:24 Let's say 50 games this season their power play was our PK. Excuse me was clicking at about 76%
00:55:31 Yeah now in playoffs. It's just shy under
00:55:35 12% which is remarkable so their overall special teams has been a much added boost for the Edmonton Oilers and a big reason
00:55:42 They're in the finals, but going back to special teams
00:55:45 Florida there had they have an unreal penalty kill and their power play was one of the best all season long as well with a
00:55:51 Guy I didn't even mention earlier Sam Reinhart
00:55:54 I think he led the league in power play goals with like 30 maybe above that
00:55:58 Finished the season with like 56 or 57 goals, so he's he's a beast - they have a weapons bro
00:56:05 Weapons okay, I got one last hockey question for you
00:56:08 Goalies Skinner verse goalie Bob
00:56:12 Is Bob hurt a little because I thought I saw some Rangers fans saying he might be a little hampered
00:56:19 With something he's dealing with but what what would you say like in terms of the goalies obviously Bob is the better goalie
00:56:26 But Skinner's been playing him. He was incredible in that game six against the Stars so
00:56:31 Like strengths weaknesses between the two of them, so let's start with Bob Ross key
00:56:36 So he's the the Russian goalie that in Florida got that big contract
00:56:40 He signed like an eight-year deal at 10 million per and and kind of lost his game
00:56:44 And then that's Bob Ross he last year on that playoff run found it
00:56:49 And he's kind of playing all this season and so far in playoffs exactly like he was last playoff
00:56:54 I have not heard one word about him being potentially injured so that is news to me. Okay, especially keep your eye on
00:57:01 Fair enough and as that series went on against, Florida
00:57:05 He was obviously stellar, but they weren't allowing a lot of high danger chances. They had New York Rangers nuts in a vice
00:57:12 Yeah, maybe because he was injured and they were like we have to we have to do our job keep mountain a buddy
00:57:17 Yeah at the end of the day most of the time if you're a team like Florida
00:57:22 And you're limiting teams to let's say 25 shots on goal and only you know four or five high danger chances a game
00:57:29 It's gonna be hard for them to generate and obviously win so to me right now goalie goaltending looks fine overall team defense
00:57:37 Looks fine nothing wrong with Bob that to be worried about I just saw one or eight
00:57:41 I saw one tweet, and I was like oh that I'm a listen
00:57:44 That's it. I'm the guy who reads Twitter, and then all of a sudden starts spouting off - yeah
00:57:48 Actually everything I think I've said so far in this podcast is probably false and things that I read off Twitter
00:57:53 I love that
00:57:55 Going across the ice to Skinner Skinner struggled a little bit in that round against
00:58:00 Vancouver to the point where they put Calvin Pickard in net their backup to play back-to-back games
00:58:05 And he did well you know he did did solid
00:58:08 But they had the confidence to put Skinner back in game six and game seven of that series against Vancouver
00:58:14 And I think he's played eight games since being put back in he's six and two and I'd have to look it up online
00:58:21 As far as his numbers, but overall it looks like he's fixed a few things in his game. He's not
00:58:27 moving as much he's not
00:58:30 challenging
00:58:32 Off the goal line as much he's a little bit backed up
00:58:35 He's using his size more
00:58:37 And he's kind of like a blocker as opposed to a reactor and when you're when he uses a size
00:58:43 Properly, and he doesn't get like you know all fidgety in net and he just works his proper angles
00:58:49 He is dialed in and he's doing everything that he needs to do in order for them to win so well above a 900 save
00:58:56 Percentage he was better than Ottinger in that last round and he came up with some big huge saves so
00:59:03 I would say that if you wanted to call the goaltending matchup even going in based on how they're both playing
00:59:10 I would say let's call it even so that's where I'm at, but most people with experience and with provenness
00:59:17 Bobrovsky does have two Vezina trophies, but he has never won the big one in the Stanley Cup finals all right
00:59:23 So the big one might be injured. Oh, we don't know so so so Wayne Gretzky's brother Keith Gretzky is
00:59:28 the assistant general manager of the Edmonton Oilers and knows a lot about their farm team and
00:59:34 Three four years ago the Bakersfield their AHL team had made a couple runs where?
00:59:39 They I don't think they were expected to make runs in the Calder Cup playoffs and Wayne was like you know
00:59:44 Oh, like what are they doing? Well and Keith was like they have this goalie Stuart Skinner. He's won at every level
00:59:50 He's as clutch as they come come playoff time
00:59:52 I believe he's gonna help the Oilers win a Stanley Cup in
00:59:55 Four or five years and sure enough here
00:59:58 We are we're going to the Stanley Cup final and he has made a lot of good help with with draft picks and
01:00:04 Calls on some of their prospects coming up and this could be one of them all right
01:00:09 Let's keep an eye on him so back to the goaltender being injured situation, maybe
01:00:14 How does that work in terms of the injury reports that teams put out in the playoffs are they always do they do they play?
01:00:20 It's straight if you got an injury they put it out or do sometimes teams
01:00:24 Withhold that information and just not disclose it at all
01:00:27 So I think in football you they have to say exactly what it is
01:00:32 That's bugging these guys at a certain date and time in hockey. It's very private
01:00:36 They they usually just go with lower body injury or upper body injury, and that's all the information
01:00:42 You're getting and then of course playoff ends for a certain team
01:00:46 They do their end of the year press conferences and media scrums
01:00:49 And then you find out the laundry list of injuries that those guys had throughout playoffs
01:00:54 Yeah, all right so biz I had one last question for you
01:00:57 It's a row back question RH. Oh BAC k comm promo code take 20% off your first purchase Q's
01:01:02 it's Polo's hoodies joggers shorts and
01:01:04 bathing suits row back comm promo code take
01:01:08 We are going to see you in two weeks in Vegas two and a half weeks for the beer games, but you also
01:01:15 Have agreed to be in the dingers only league yeah with yans
01:01:21 Which we're announcing it right now?
01:01:24 I know I said that I had a verbal commitment on Twitter, but you you are you're a part of this league now
01:01:29 We're gonna do the draft on that Monday. Are you ready for this?
01:01:32 Do you know anything about baseball if you lose are you gonna be ready to pitch against the college baseball team?
01:01:37 Okay, so here are the things I know about baseball that the worst umpire in the history of the world is retiring after this season
01:01:45 Oh, yeah, I think he's out. He's out quit spent more time with his family this summer. Yeah, yeah
01:01:49 He's not just oh so I my understanding was it was originally said that he was this would be his last year
01:01:55 But then he just completely shut the mill. I think he shut it down. Yeah
01:01:58 Do you think he had his Twitter mentions on yes?
01:02:01 No, that was the story that he got bullied online. He was like I'm sick of all the hate
01:02:04 It's like well dude you suck is I I don't know I don't follow baseball
01:02:08 But is this a commitment that I'm making more so than just the day that we draft do I have to do this all summer?
01:02:13 No, no, that's the beauty of this league the league is as simple as it gets we each all of us draft nine players
01:02:20 And you get I think a tenth reserve player, and you there's no lineups or anything that you set
01:02:25 It's just you go, and it's the only status home runs
01:02:29 And we update it every week
01:02:31 But the only thing is if you lose you have to get six outs against a college baseball team
01:02:37 We'll play the field if you lose like you'll pitch
01:02:40 I'll probably catch PFT and Max and Hank will be in the outfield so you don't be there. They'll be there that afternoon
01:02:47 Yeah, you yeah, we did a PFT loss last year
01:02:49 He got had to get six outs against the college baseball team and I pitch yeah pitch. Yeah, I lose
01:02:55 I only hit one guy yeah, oh
01:02:57 Okay, if I look yeah, let's do it. I love that. I like that. I'm actually leaving Monday morning
01:03:02 I'm driving to Vegas, and then I will be there for whatever time your draft is let's hope it's at like what two or three
01:03:08 O'clock yeah, whenever you get there. We'll do it. We'll have some drinks
01:03:11 It's like and it takes like it takes like a couple hours
01:03:14 But it's just us fucking around saying names, and we don't know what we're saying how about how about I'll 100% do it if
01:03:21 If you guys take mushrooms with me
01:03:26 Oh, you're a big mushroom guy yeah, I mean I'm going to the sphere the two days on the Saturday and Friday before that
01:03:32 Yeah, we're we're fun guys. Yeah, okay. Let's do it. I'm in I mean
01:03:36 I don't know about yans on the shrooms, but he'll definitely be there. Okay. How many baseball players can you name right now?
01:03:40 I can name Bryce Harper. Yep
01:03:45 Who's the guy you got you lich yeah, okay?
01:03:50 I like him. He seems like a good doesn't really hit home runs, but yeah
01:03:55 um
01:03:56 Carlos Stanton yeah
01:03:58 John Carlos yeah, um oh who's the guy who got busted with the gambling you got this?
01:04:07 Oh, Tony yeah, huh, that's four. Oh shanti. Oh, Tony. Yeah, shanti. Oh, Tony
01:04:14 Oh, who's the guy in Anaheim? He's the big dog
01:04:20 Fuck maybe the best hitter of all time
01:04:23 Actually, no he's like Barry Bonds is that guy, but yeah, he's like historically good
01:04:28 He's like Connor McDavid of Connor McDavid never made the playoffs. I think it starts with a T. Doesn't it yeah? It's a fish oh
01:04:35 Trout Mike trope yeah
01:04:39 I don't I know enough. I know enough of them
01:04:42 I really like the guy from Cincinnati who he just seems to be a fucking character that doesn't give a care in the world
01:04:48 He's actually Canadian. I think
01:04:50 He are you talking about guy Votto Joey Votto. He's a Canadian. Yeah, I don't know if he is is he
01:04:57 I'm pretty sure he's Canadian. Yes, you're right on Sean Paul's not Canadian
01:05:02 Yeah, yeah, yeah, so so we're gonna do we'll have a whole cheat sheet for you
01:05:08 So we'll have a list of everyone's because the thing is we do the draft
01:05:11 It's already like halfway through the season so we'll have a list of everyone who's already
01:05:15 You know what their home runs are they don't count the home runs
01:05:18 They hit before the draft don't count, but you can see like who's doing well, and who's not and then I like this off that
01:05:23 It's very easy as possible
01:05:25 I'm so excited
01:05:27 And I I'm pumped that you guys are spending a little even more time that you have in the past
01:05:31 Invested in the Stanley Cup playoffs because it's been a great run and yes
01:05:35 For all your fans who might be just casual hockey fans. This is gonna be an unbelievable final
01:05:41 And there's a lot at stake and and a generational talented player might end up hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time
01:05:47 So even for you Capitals fans you can you can really relate to this
01:05:51 Watching Ovi trying to get his cup. It's been nine years since McDavid's been the NHL and it's the first time
01:05:57 He's in the Stanley Cup finals. It's a long time. That's long
01:06:00 It would serve Jesus it would put to bed the narrative out there that I've heard you know all over the place
01:06:03 Which is he can't win the big one that he's not good enough to win the big one so
01:06:07 On one hand I would not like to give that narrative up on the other
01:06:12 I I understand the pain and the suffering that he's going through that the fans are going through I
01:06:16 Appreciate that that's a Canadian. Yeah, all right biz. You're the best we're excited for it
01:06:22 We'll see you in a couple weeks get ready for dinners only bring the mushrooms because we will do that

01:09:47 He is from the Edmonton Oilers. It's Evander Kane
01:09:49 Getting ready for the Stanley Cup finals. How are we feeling?
01:09:54 You know on the precipice of being in your first Stanley Cup final
01:09:57 Yeah, obviously really exciting. It's taking a long time to get to this stage and
01:10:03 It doesn't happen every year. So
01:10:05 Really excited for our group and obviously individually. It's it's been a long time coming as I said, and
01:10:11 I'm looking forward to kicking it off on Saturday night
01:10:15 Did you guys make a pact before?
01:10:17 Game six against the Stars that you wouldn't be touching the trophy because it was it felt very
01:10:23 Coordinated that you weren't gonna be touching the trophy
01:10:25 um
01:10:27 I'd be lying to you if I said there wasn't some whispers about it prior to the game
01:10:31 Obviously we want to make sure we got the job done first and foremost, but
01:10:35 Yeah after after we squeaked that one out
01:10:38 Everybody was on the same page. We weren't touching it and we're gonna wait until we got the big. Yeah
01:10:43 Yeah, I didn't even think about it's like a superstition
01:10:46 Like double jeopardy because you don't want to talk about
01:10:50 What your plan is with the trophy before you get the trophy?
01:10:53 But you also got to get a plan for the trophy to not touch the trophy
01:10:57 Yeah, like I said, there's some whispers
01:11:00 Really that much out there, but I think we all knew what we were doing and and obviously when the game was over
01:11:06 We weren't touching. I think it was you. I think you were the one you might have I think you were like
01:11:11 Don't touch that fucking
01:11:13 Don't do it. Don't don't be intuition on your part. Yeah
01:11:17 Yeah, are there any any nerves going to Stanley Cup?
01:11:21 You know what? I think
01:11:23 You know a lot of us obviously haven't been to a cup final before I think we have obviously we got a guy like Corey Perry
01:11:29 Who's been to five of them on five different teams?
01:11:32 So he has that type of experience and I know Matias at home. He's uh, he's been to a cup final in Nashville before so
01:11:40 You know what? The thing about our team is we just kind of take it game by game like it's any other game and I don't
01:11:45 envision
01:11:47 Stanley Cup final
01:11:49 Rattling us or getting us overly nervous
01:11:51 To have an effect in our game. So, you know, that's one thing I really like what our group
01:11:56 Yeah
01:11:57 Any additional pressure knowing that you're representing Canada as a whole trying to win the Cup back for the first time in forever
01:12:03 Yeah, I mean obviously
01:12:07 Canada hasn't had a Stanley Cup and in a long time. I think it was 93
01:12:10 I
01:12:12 Don't know how many Canadians are actually cheering for our team, you know, we played Vancouver in the second round
01:12:18 Toronto's Toronto is a couple of our teammates have mentioned
01:12:22 But you know if that's what it's gonna be
01:12:25 We're more than happy to take that that on but at the end of the day worried what the Edmonton Oilers
01:12:30 Yeah
01:12:31 Is there an is there a noticeable speed difference between regular season in postseason and is it is it?
01:12:36 Do you think it's gonna even go up another level because guys talk about that with football where it's like the Super Bowl is just a
01:12:42 different level of speed
01:12:43 Do you anticipate that that there's gonna be a different level of speed or nerves or you think it's just gonna be hockey once you get
01:12:50 out there
01:12:52 You know what? I think there's a massive difference between the regular season and the postseason
01:12:56 I think the intensity
01:12:58 And the desperation that guys play with this is I don't say drastically different, but it's it's it's noticeably different
01:13:06 And and that only continues to ramp up as you move on through each series. So I
01:13:12 Think you know you see guys that maybe aren't blocking shots in the regular season that are diving face first in front of pucks
01:13:19 You know to keep it out of your own net at the end of the game and I think you know
01:13:23 It just shows how important winning is to each and every individual on a group, especially when you're trying to win the Stanley Cup
01:13:30 Yeah, yeah your power play has been so awesome and it's been so fun to watch
01:13:34 talk a little bit about like what your mentality is going into a
01:13:38 Man advantage when you know that okay, there's a pretty good chance like 50% we're gonna score
01:13:45 Do you guys just expect to score every time?
01:13:47 I
01:13:49 Mean, I think our power plays been historically great
01:13:52 I was the best player power play percentage over the course of regular season last year in the history of hockey
01:13:57 You know, I don't know if you're ever gonna repeat that again, but you know, obviously especially in that first round
01:14:05 You know did a job for us to win us that series in a quick fashion. I think we have a confidence
01:14:11 That it's either gonna score or it's gonna create momentum for our group and I think when a power plays doing that
01:14:19 You know, you obviously set your team up for some success
01:14:22 Yeah, if you have a power play where you don't score you're saying that that sometimes just having a great power play you you end
01:14:27 Up playing with more confidence. Yeah, just having touches wearing down the other team
01:14:32 You know being in their zone the entire time
01:14:34 Wearing down the goalie a little bit him having to make big saves him get moving in the crease
01:14:39 And I think it just builds confidence when you get puck touches out there
01:14:42 Because when you get those maybe the next shift, you know, you're confident a little more confident with the puck. Yeah
01:14:48 It builds momentum for your group. All right, I got a two-part question
01:14:52 I wanted to go back to your first year in the NHL and
01:14:56 Your first big fight against Matt Cook, which if you haven't watched is one of the cleanest knockouts you've ever seen
01:15:02 In that moment Matt Cook was like kind of the big badass on the block at that time in that moment
01:15:08 Did you know going into that game?
01:15:10 I'm gonna have to fight Matt Cook or was this spur of the moment?
01:15:13 Are you or in afterwards you like I kind of earned my stripes here
01:15:16 Yeah, so I'll tell you the story. So yeah, that was the last game actually of the regular season for us
01:15:22 we weren't making the playoffs that year so I was the last game of my first year and
01:15:26 Earlier in that first period
01:15:29 Me and Crosby were kind of going out a little bit
01:15:31 You know and I was kind of getting in his face a little bit and then I forgot the other guy's name
01:15:37 But there's another bit or there's another big tough guy on pitch where they had two tough guys
01:15:41 That's when every team had two fighters, you know
01:15:43 15 years ago on every team and the other guy was Mike Ruff and Mike
01:15:48 These are two massive guys and I'm just an 18 year old kid and they're now getting in my face asking me to fight them
01:15:54 And I'm like, I'm not fighting you guys. I think that's just not happening
01:15:57 So then the second period rolls around and I remember either a cold Chuck in the intermission
01:16:03 He said hey, just make sure you keep your head about there because you know, these guys are coming after you
01:16:07 So then Matt Cook kind of asked me to go
01:16:11 early in that second period I believe it was and
01:16:16 I was more than happy to oblige and
01:16:18 Ended up knocking him out and I remember sitting in the penalty box for like in real time
01:16:25 It was like 20 minutes and he still was not off the ice. I'm thinking geez
01:16:30 I don't wanna be the first guy in my first year to kill somebody. Yeah
01:16:34 He wasn't moving. So I was happy to see him get up, but then the next season
01:16:41 He elbowed me right in the chin and wouldn't want didn't want to fight me again
01:16:44 If you get knocked out, I want to fight that guy the very next time I have an opportunity because it can't go any worse
01:16:49 For you. Yeah, he was it. He was a dirty
01:16:52 Dirty player. Yeah, he learned his lesson. Yeah, it is one of the cleanest
01:16:57 Like do you how often have you watched that back because you can't get a cleaner knockout
01:17:01 Yeah, well, no, I mean when I when it happened, I mean, I probably watched it. I'm not even over exaggerating 300 times
01:17:07 And then I got I actually got a gift basket for the Boston Bruins
01:17:13 Later that year Wow in the offseason
01:17:15 Because of what he did to mark Sambar Wow, that's awesome. That is sick
01:17:20 We're talking to yandle a couple weeks ago about what you say when you're trying to get into a fight with somebody whether you're the person
01:17:27 Who's instigating it who wants to fight and he said usually it's like you want to go you want to fucking go or?
01:17:32 You want one and then if you don't want to fight you just say my coach told me I'm not allowed to so for you
01:17:39 For you. Do you got anything that you say like right off the bat? Like let's fucking go
01:17:43 Depends who it is. It really depends who it is. I
01:17:47 Rarely fight
01:17:50 Where it's like, you know, I'm just fighting the fight. It's usually off emotion or something's transpired
01:17:56 During that play. I
01:17:59 Remember just earlier this year. I asked Brendan Dillon who was actually teammate of mine in San Jose
01:18:04 I just there was no real animosity, you know, there wasn't anything but I just kind of wanted to get myself going
01:18:09 So I just said yeah, you want one and he said absolutely so we went
01:18:13 Handle was right. That's those are those are kind of the three phrases you use and
01:18:17 If you're fighting off emotion, usually you don't ask you to start throwing. Yeah, that's very cordial way of saying it. Yeah, you want one?
01:18:24 Absolutely. Well, it also feels like somebody asked me if I wanted one. It sounds like if I say yes, I'm
01:18:29 Saying yeah, I want you to kick my ass. Yeah, I would say no you want one. Yeah, you want one?
01:18:34 Yeah back and forth. Yeah, it's getting a you want one off who wants one?
01:18:37 Yeah, you just like very Canadian friendly like just going you want one you want one? No, you want one over?
01:18:42 No, it's a respect. Yeah, but so alright
01:18:45 So you mentioned it like that that Matt Cook fight you didn't want to fight the guys who were like massively bigger than you
01:18:50 But you did fight Chara later on in your career. That was stupid. I
01:18:54 Mean, yeah, it probably was but at the same time it wasn't I wasn't an 18 year old in my rookie year
01:19:01 He kind of I mean seven feet tall on the ice
01:19:05 so he hit me in the head and I went down and I looked at the ref and his arms were glued to his
01:19:12 kneecaps and
01:19:13 I was so mad that there wasn't a penalty on the play
01:19:17 So I just turned around and I jumped Chara and I had him in this I thought pretty good headlock
01:19:23 But he just kept standing up like he just kept getting taller so that my arms were
01:19:27 Now I don't have my headlock and now where he strung me out and that's the worst possible position to be in on a guy
01:19:33 Who's a foot taller than you?
01:19:35 Yeah, and I just kind of held on for pretty life and made sure my face wasn't pounded into the cement
01:19:40 Yeah, so so it was a second part of the question that was started with the Matt Cook was the Panthers do play a physical
01:19:47 style hockey and
01:19:49 You know, we've seen Kachuk
01:19:51 Get into scraps and be physical. So do you know like going into this series?
01:19:56 Is it gonna be a little different where it's like I got a set a tone or just be ready for this
01:20:01 No, I mean, I think this is gonna be a very physical series. They obviously have some guys
01:20:06 That like to scrum it up after the whistles Dallas was very different with the team. We just played
01:20:11 Obviously we played a couple of their guys
01:20:15 That were on Calgary before a couple years ago in the playoffs could Chuck being one of them
01:20:21 So there is a bit of a history there
01:20:25 You know, I anticipate it being a very spirited
01:20:28 emotional series
01:20:31 With two teams wanted to try to impose their game on one another so
01:20:34 I'm sure I'll be right in the middle of that
01:20:37 Yeah, that was a nice way of saying you're gonna hate their guts by the end of this thing. Yeah, it's spirited physical
01:20:42 Yeah, it's gonna get nasty
01:20:44 Yeah, it's gonna get yeah. I love your your home ice advantage that you have in Edmonton - and we're dumb fans
01:20:50 We watch on TV. So all we know is really what the camera shows us
01:20:54 You guys have a great fan base really good fan base. Are you talking about a specific fan?
01:21:00 I know are you talking about specific fan? No, but I I thought you were maybe talking about specific fan
01:21:05 I mean, maybe there is like if I rack my brain. Yeah, I'm racking. I'm racking. Yeah, there's one
01:21:11 There's she what was he or she wearing?
01:21:14 It was a jersey got it
01:21:16 You got a lot of fans that wear your jersey most of the time and then sometimes they're not wearing all of your jersey
01:21:21 Yeah, they kind of take part of it off
01:21:23 I believe it wasn't even at a game. It was that like a watch party - like we were on the road plane
01:21:28 Oh, that's right. That's even better
01:21:29 So how quickly after that game is over? Did you guys pass around the phone in the locker room be like look what a fan did?
01:21:35 Well, I think it was almost impossible not to see that video
01:21:40 Several times in Edmonton and just turning on your cell phone, right?
01:21:44 Yeah, I mean we have an incredibly again. I'll use the word passionate fan base
01:21:50 And I think that was a great example of that
01:21:52 Yeah, does all guys get in fights in the locker room trying to argue like what Jersey she would he or she was wearing
01:21:59 you know what I I
01:22:02 Don't know how many people were actually looking at the jersey. Yeah, true
01:22:06 You know, you could be
01:22:11 Apparently it was discovered. She was wearing a Sam gone yagers. Oh, that's a massive dub for him
01:22:16 He's a long time stoolie old-school. So yeah, so obviously
01:22:20 You know, he was an oil a long time ago as well for a lot of years and a fan favorite
01:22:27 So no surprise, I guess that's got to be huge for him. Just a little pep in his step in like damn
01:22:32 Yeah, it's like Gregor's. Yeah, but McDavid's probably walking around the locker room afterwards like yeah, that's my jersey
01:22:38 Obviously she was wearing my jersey
01:22:39 Yeah
01:22:40 And it's also that old saying like you know
01:22:42 You don't die until the last person utters your name like he his career goes as long as someone's flashing
01:22:50 Their tits with his jersey on you see others. Yeah
01:22:53 No, I would tease oh, yeah, yeah these with double D's yeah, yeah
01:23:01 Yeah
01:23:05 You just watched us do the show
01:23:10 Is your ice shinier it looks shinier on TV
01:23:13 Compared to who compared to every other every other team it seems like you guys have the best ice in the league
01:23:21 Maybe we just have really good lighting the arena. It's one of the best arenas
01:23:25 Definitely in the league. So maybe it's just the lighting. I don't know
01:23:28 It was crazy how bad you guys were to start the season now you're in the Stanley Cup final was there
01:23:33 Ever a moment in the beginning of the season where it's like shit
01:23:36 This isn't just a slow start like we actually have to kind of start worrying that we're getting too deep here
01:23:42 Yeah, I mean after the first ten games, you know, it was kind of continuing and I
01:23:50 Don't want to say dealt but we definitely the urgency
01:23:54 What was that an all-time high to end this slump or whatever you want to call it and and get back into the winning column?
01:24:02 And we have to play catch-up now
01:24:04 We really started have to put some wins together five six seven games in a row just to start climbing in the standings to get ourselves
01:24:10 back in a playoff spot
01:24:12 And we did that we did that tenfold. We won eight in a row. We won 16 in a row
01:24:17 And obviously got ourselves back to where we thought we would be at the beginning of the year
01:24:22 So that was impressive was a moment where it started to click and you were like, okay
01:24:26 This is this is something we can build off of yeah
01:24:30 I think you know, it was the game in Washington a couple of guys said some things in the room before we played, Washington
01:24:36 I had made a bet with the boys
01:24:38 We won five or six in a row or seven row was I'd wear double Rolexes for warm-up
01:24:43 Which I ended up having to do
01:24:47 And then when we were winning 16 in a row, we had a bet going with if we'd made it 20
01:24:52 Devo was gonna have to wear a grill and warm
01:24:56 So we didn't get to 20. I'm sure he was probably not happy about it, but not overly disappointed
01:25:03 So he did not to follow up with that grill and warm up if you win a cup he has to do it
01:25:08 Well, yeah, I think yeah
01:25:11 Yeah, well, we'll take it one step at a time. We're four wins away. We'll start with Saturday
01:25:16 Yeah, we can't we can't so we can't talk about it
01:25:19 We can't remember when superstitious like will you guys be no like I was gonna say will you touch the cup if you win it?
01:25:24 I can't ask that
01:25:26 No, what maybe they will touch?
01:25:29 Yes
01:25:32 That's a common-sense question everybody you never know you're satisfied talk about it
01:25:40 You're satisfied with one cup because if it were me personally, I wouldn't touch the cup the first time
01:25:44 Yeah, I would look cuz I want to win two in a row. I wouldn't touch the cup
01:25:46 So I like I don't think I'm gonna I'm gonna challenge you on that
01:25:50 I think every person who's won multiple cups has touched at the first time, right?
01:25:54 But they they top themselves off like you keep touching the cup eventually gonna stop winning cups
01:26:00 What if you never touch the cup you just gonna win forever? I'm not I wouldn't be satisfied with winning
01:26:04 I'm thinking I'm already thinking about the next one. The first person to not touch the cup might win infinity cups. We don't know
01:26:10 Yeah, I mean that's we don't know
01:26:16 I
01:26:18 Don't know yeah
01:26:22 It might be a sensitive topic to bring up
01:26:24 But I I was watching an interview with you the other day and you were taught it was right after you had the the devastating
01:26:29 wrist injury when you got your wrist run over by by Pat Maroon skate and
01:26:33 You were talking about how are you going to start wearing Kevlar around your wrist?
01:26:38 Are you were thinking about some sort of protection? Is that something that you're doing now on both wrists?
01:26:42 Yeah. Yeah, I am. I wear a cut resistant
01:26:45 undershirt under my equipment that has
01:26:48 Kevlar on both wrists so that they protect them
01:26:51 It was honestly it was shocking to me to hear you so soon after that injury
01:26:56 Which was it was a life-and-death moment for you
01:26:58 So soon talking about getting back on the ice getting back with the guys spending time with them
01:27:03 Because if it were me, I would be like I'm never I'm never playing hockey again like that
01:27:08 I could see somebody going that direction
01:27:10 Did you know like from the instant you started your recovery like okay, I'm a hockey player
01:27:14 I'm gonna go back and play hockey or was there a small part of your brain that was like
01:27:18 Maybe it might be time to hang this one up
01:27:20 No, no, I never had any
01:27:23 any thoughts about
01:27:25 Any my career over that type of injury?
01:27:27 I think you know, my biggest focus was wanting to be able to come back that year
01:27:34 because early on or after I got a surgery, you know, they had kind of
01:27:39 Ruled at least the regular season out for me and maybe be back for the playoffs
01:27:43 and
01:27:45 Then when I actually got all the bandages off and I saw the the wound
01:27:49 I was actually kind of sick when I first saw it to be honest
01:27:52 But I ended up coming back in two and a half months which
01:27:58 Nobody thought yeah, I'd be able to do
01:28:01 and
01:28:04 Yeah, I put a lot of work into
01:28:07 Trying to get my feeling back and desensitize
01:28:10 That area as much as I could I still have sensitivity. But yeah, definitely
01:28:16 Not how you drop a year going with an injury like that and it was a scary moment for me when it happened super scary moment
01:28:24 But I guess the only like upside now is do you kind of feel like Batman when you put on your Kevlar?
01:28:30 Well, I definitely feel more protected. I mean, honestly, I went I honestly went
01:28:36 Get on the ice in an NHL atmosphere without that on yeah, I think just you know with what I went through and
01:28:43 Having those flashbacks a little bit. I definitely feel a lot more secure on the ice
01:28:48 You know because honestly it happens more than you think it actually happened again this year where it saved my other wrist
01:28:54 Wow, I kind of got it wasn't as it wasn't as
01:28:56 Prominent as obviously somebody stepping on your wrist
01:28:59 But you know
01:29:00 It was just kind of a glancing skate blade that you know
01:29:03 if I wasn't wearing that I probably been cut not as severely but
01:29:06 It did save me so it does happen. It's the same thing with those cut resistant socks
01:29:11 You know what happened to a player a bunch of years ago where he cut his Achilles
01:29:16 Yeah, and the whole league kind of got these cut resistant socks in I put them on right away and two games later
01:29:23 I got stepped on
01:29:26 With a hit wasn't stepped on it was kind of, you know
01:29:28 two guys going boards and the skate came down behind my boot and
01:29:33 it actually cut the cut resistant sock and
01:29:36 I had a small very small cut on my leg
01:29:41 But if I wasn't wearing those it was where the major already wasn't I could have you never know
01:29:46 So it's it's a very dangerous sport hockey is and I think anytime you can
01:29:50 Put on something a little bit more protective
01:29:54 Especially when it comes to cut resistant stuff. Why not? Yeah, that's I mean, that's crazy
01:29:59 I mean, yeah, I remember what it happened with your wrist and like the panic
01:30:02 It was just like because you don't see it very often on the on the ice where a hockey guys like this is a problem
01:30:08 Right now we have to fix it right now, you know and just how scary that moment was
01:30:12 Yeah, no, it
01:30:14 It definitely was scary. Yeah happy every I mean now you're in the Stanley Cup final is awesome
01:30:18 So, uh, I wanted to ask you about
01:30:20 McDavid and playing with him. Can you
01:30:25 Explain the difference in his speed verse everyone else
01:30:29 To people who might not have watched enough McDavid this year or the last few years
01:30:33 Yeah, you know obviously he's an incredibly fast player in straight lines and whatnot
01:30:39 You know, there's lots of fast players
01:30:42 But I think what separates him is that his entire all his limbs and his mind
01:30:47 Work in unison together at that speed, you know
01:30:52 His hands move as fast as feet his brain moves as fast as his hands, you know, he's so coordinated
01:30:57 And then obviously just the strength on his edges
01:31:00 And I think there is probably no better example of that than the goal. He scored in game six against Dallas. Yeah
01:31:08 You know, it's it's it's something that I don't think any player possesses in terms of that type of skill set
01:31:15 And obviously, you know one of the best ever do it if not the best ever do it
01:31:21 Yeah, I mean that goal that was just it was it was a joke that goal was a joke
01:31:26 It looked like it was it looked like a goal you'd see in like an all-star game not game six of the Western Conference final
01:31:32 Yeah, it looks like a goal like you're playing three and three with your buddies in summer, right?
01:31:35 Has there been is that the most impressive thing that he's done or has there been another play that?
01:31:40 Might not be in as big a moment where you watch him and you're like that person is is simply not human
01:31:46 I
01:31:48 Mean Jesus been so many incredible goals. He scored to date
01:31:52 That's probably the most impressive thing that he's done that I can remember off the top of my head
01:31:56 And I think when you have it in that type of moment it amplifies so so I'll give him that for right now
01:32:01 Yeah, yeah, you think they should bring the thrashers back you got drafted by the thrashers
01:32:05 You were the last thrashers draft pick for first round draft pick, right? I
01:32:09 Was the second last second Alex Bristroff was the was last. Yeah, I
01:32:15 Loved Atlanta. I love my time there. I had an incredible two years the fans in Atlanta. I
01:32:22 Think we're awesome. I think it's a great city to live
01:32:26 Lots to do I'm all for getting hockey back in Atlanta. Yeah. Yeah, it was a
01:32:31 Good French. Is there a city in either Canada or the United States that you think deserves a hockey team?
01:32:37 um, I
01:32:40 Mean I I would again I'd argue Atlanta. I just I'm a real a homer in that regard, you know
01:32:46 That's where I started my career at my first two years there
01:32:48 I had great experiences and and I'd love to see hockey back in that market
01:32:54 With the right ownership group. I think I think it would do incredibly well. What do you think about business mustache?
01:32:59 Do you like it? Are you like this? This looks like a caterpillar died on his lip?
01:33:03 Yeah, I think
01:33:06 You know, he's rocked a lot of different
01:33:08 Hairstyles and facial hair cells in the past. I think I think this suits him to be honest the best. Yeah, it does
01:33:14 Yeah, I think just a straight mustache. That's perfect for him. Yeah
01:33:18 Will you you were named after Evander Holyfield?
01:33:21 Yes, that's kind of that's a lot of pressure. When did you realize the pressure? I
01:33:27 Honestly never looked at it that way I think you might you know my I
01:33:31 Kind of had a very athletic family growing up. My dad played hockey
01:33:37 He he was an amateur boxer. My cousin Kirk Johnson was a professional boxer
01:33:42 so there's a lot of boxing in my family and
01:33:45 my grandfather his favorite boxer was Evander Holyfield and
01:33:49 My dad decided to my dad and mom
01:33:53 Decided to name him after me. So her name me after him. Pardon me
01:33:57 That's and I actually got an opportunity to meet him in Atlanta my rookie year
01:34:01 So that was pretty cool because he was living there we got a
01:34:05 Opportunity to not interview him
01:34:07 but we got a listener just duped us and texted our producers saying that Evander Holyfield wanted to come on the show and
01:34:14 We just sat in a hotel room for like three hours waiting for him to show up and he just didn't show up
01:34:20 It's a good prank. It was a good prank. So that's our Evander Holyfield story
01:34:22 Well, you're named after one of the best boxers of all time and maybe the best wrestler of all time - it's a strong name
01:34:27 Yeah, Kane Kane. Yeah
01:34:32 Yeah, yeah, I was a big WWF fan growing up who's your favorite the Rock oh
01:34:37 I kind of don't like you anymore now
01:34:40 I'm a stone-cold guy. Yeah, but I mean, I mean they made each other
01:34:45 Yeah, I'm a huge cold guy - like nobody wants this, you know double middle finger in the air
01:34:51 It's me smashing beers more than me, you know, especially if we win
01:34:54 So, I mean, I love stone-cold do but the Rock you just had that extra charisma and that showmanship, right?
01:35:00 It was hard not to like yeah
01:35:02 I mean whenever he did the eyebrow the eyebrows got people going the elbow was good - got the people going. Yeah
01:35:07 Yeah, so so you're growing up
01:35:10 How early did you learn how to skate? When did you first put the skates on I was three years old
01:35:15 So like right after you start walking skates
01:35:19 Yeah. Yeah, I started skating at three. My dad got me and I used to go to a public skate and that's all she wrote
01:35:26 I was I worked with my dad
01:35:28 My entire career, but he was the one I kind of worked with
01:35:31 specifically early on
01:35:34 Before I got to the NHL and is a big reason why I am where I am. What's the longest you've gone without skating? Oh
01:35:40 Eight months that's a long time. Yeah, I had shoulder surgery. So
01:35:50 That one makes sense long long. Yeah long long time. Did you grow up a Canucks fan?
01:35:57 Yeah
01:35:59 Colorado and Vancouver were my favorite teams
01:36:01 You know, I was a big Marcus Naslin fan big Joe Sackett fan big Peter Forsberg fan
01:36:07 Those are kind of my favorite players along with the gimlet. So I was big fans of Colorado and Vancouver
01:36:14 Is there a guy that
01:36:18 That you looked up to like you you get into the league and all of a sudden you're on the ice skating against them a guy
01:36:24 That you've been watching for years
01:36:25 Yeah, my first my very first exhibition game. I was
01:36:29 Incredibly starstruck. I was we were playing Nashville and Paul Korea was on the other was on national warming up on the other blue
01:36:36 And I looked over like it's just crazy. Like I was like
01:36:38 Eight years old, you know watching Paul Korea play for the Mighty Ducks now
01:36:42 I'm out here playing against some and and then the other guy would probably be
01:36:45 Jerome again, la
01:36:47 You know, I kind of I wouldn't say modeled my game, but I really liked his style of play
01:36:52 And obviously the play against him
01:36:55 Early in my career. That was pretty cool. Yeah. All right. I had one last question. This has been awesome Evander
01:37:00 We really appreciate you taking time before the Stanley Cup final starts
01:37:03 Roeback question our HOB a CK comm promo code take 20% off your first purchase Q zips polos hoodies joggers shorts
01:37:11 roeback.com promo code take
01:37:13 So my last question is in the Stanley Cup playoffs and now obviously in the final like hockey
01:37:20 Locker rooms from our perspective and we know biz and wit very well and all those guys like it feels like a very
01:37:27 Jovial like joking around place. Does it get a lot more serious before a big playoff game?
01:37:34 And is there that weird line where it's like hey, we got to keep doing what we do what we're doing
01:37:39 Why are we switching this up just because we're in the playoffs?
01:37:42 Yeah. Yeah, I think I think I touched on it earlier like our team is
01:37:48 We're very business minded, you know, we were very serious
01:37:52 But at the same time like, you know, we're really tight. We like to joke around
01:37:55 We're talking about lots of different things
01:37:57 You know the morning of the game before pregame skate or whatnot joking around and I think
01:38:02 If that were to change, I think that would be a negative that would have a negative impact on our group
01:38:07 And I think we've done a really good job each round as the pressure continues to mount
01:38:13 The stakes get higher of staying with what we've been doing all year long and I and I don't see that changing
01:38:19 Even in the Stanley Cup finals and I think if we do that and continue that off the ice
01:38:25 It's gonna lead to hopefully the same on ice results
01:38:27 We've had so you're gonna maybe be like look at this video of this fan right before you go puck drop
01:38:33 I will get her to
01:38:35 That by that time
01:38:37 Yes
01:38:39 Playing the hits somebody should get her tattooed on their body if they win the Stanley Cup
01:38:43 Well, it won't be a veteran guy. Maybe you're rookie. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I might do it actually. Yeah, she made she made me fall back
01:38:51 Yeah, that's a good move. I like that. Yeah, I'd be great. Yeah, so, okay
01:38:56 So you're not gonna say we're not gonna do any official predictions for you guys
01:39:00 But give us a roadmap. How do how do the Oilers win the Stanley Cup? What does that look like?
01:39:05 What do you have to do? I?
01:39:07 Think we just got to continue to play our game. I think
01:39:09 Everybody obviously has to
01:39:12 Raise their level individually and I think if we do that as a group, you know our best
01:39:17 I think we'll be good enough score more goals than them
01:39:21 That's obviously a very good
01:39:24 Equation winning a hockey game. Yep. Yeah. Yep. Take a lot of shots pucks on net
01:39:30 Pucks and bodies on that. Yeah, I'll give you the old cliches
01:39:35 Pucks out of the blue lines pucks in at their blue line, you know finish your checks all that good stuff
01:39:41 Here's here's one just last one. Maybe tell McDavid that like could you play a little bit more? I
01:39:47 Don't know like a lot of guys don't Patrick Holmes doesn't come off the field on offense
01:39:53 Like just stay on the ice the whole time
01:39:56 Yeah, that's it's not realistic in hockey. Hmm. Oh sure me hockey's not that's how you have to drag me off the ice
01:40:04 Sounds like yeah, then you like a five on four and you know, you're now helping the other team
01:40:09 Yes, you have to drag both of us off the ice. So it's five on three. Yeah
01:40:13 So this is this is an example of a great intellectual debate that we have on the show
01:40:17 Sometimes do you think that a team that has let's say 15 Connor McDavid's but also Connor McDavid has to play goalie
01:40:24 Do you think that that team could win the Stanley Cup?
01:40:27 Yes, like goalie yeah every position yeah, do you just get no he's playing against real NHL teams
01:40:32 Yep. Yeah, but it's just Connor McDavid on every position. Yeah, I mean
01:40:36 Yeah, I'd be tough but I'd probably see no still like goalie is a very important position is way harder than people think
01:40:46 Okay, like I had Danny Green come out
01:40:50 In Vancouver and put on goalie equipment and he could barely move. Yeah, okay
01:40:55 Here's yeah, six six seven six eight takes up a lot of an app. Mm-hmm
01:41:00 Yeah, all right last one
01:41:02 If you had 15 Evander Cain's on a team and 15 charas on a team
01:41:07 How many fights would the Evander Cain's team win?
01:41:10 I
01:41:15 Know
01:41:17 You're going like 15 on one or no fit, you know each of Ander Cain's going against chara like consecutively 15 fight
01:41:26 Oh, I'd give I'd be I
01:41:28 I'd probably say
01:41:30 Maybe 10% of them. Okay, that's not bad. Yes
01:41:35 Yeah, yeah, I'd speak on a couple you get a puncher's chance side on them, yeah, yeah me trips
01:41:44 Yeah
01:41:45 Cuz really
01:41:46 Like correct me if I'm wrong
01:41:48 Obviously you can win a hockey fight if you knock someone out like you you did with Matt Cook
01:41:52 But you could also win a hockey fight just by taking it to the ground and being on top of the other guy and then everyone's
01:41:57 Like oh, he must have won
01:41:58 Yeah, a lot of guys go for the takedown and the referees hop in. Yeah a lot of guys try to do that now
01:42:05 I I'm not a huge fan of that. I don't think you won the fight because you took the guy down by the stretch of the imagination
01:42:11 So but yeah, you're seeing that a little bit more. I think that's some of the younger generation their whole UFC attitude
01:42:17 Some of the on ice fights. Yeah
01:42:20 Well, good luck. I think I speak for myself rooting for you. I'm rooting for you. Yes, I want I want
01:42:25 I want Canada to get one back. I want this team to win one
01:42:28 I want to sit I'm sick of having the conversation of whether or not McDavid can win the big one
01:42:33 You think you you think you can win the big one?
01:42:37 We're in the finals we're gonna do everything we can okay smart answer, but I'm sick of having that conversation, too
01:42:42 It's so annoying don't want to have it does this where they're like, oh, he can't win the big ones like dude
01:42:46 He's fucking awesome
01:42:47 And he's way on on a team and he's got a great team around him
01:42:50 It's a team sport hockey sports board. If you reduce it to one guy winning the big one. You don't know puck, right?
01:42:56 Yeah, no hockey. I think is the ultimate team sport. It's not like other sports
01:43:01 We can have one or two guys and you can win a championship. That's just not the way right our sport is
01:43:07 It's it's almost impossible facts facts. All right. Well Vander best of luck, man
01:43:12 We really appreciate it. And if you guys do win, we'd love to have you back on
01:43:15 Awesome. I appreciate you guys. All right
01:43:18 Okay, let's do some fire fest welcome back to fire fest it is brought to you by our friends at Morgan and Morgan

01:45:10 How fast do you think our best baseball players would win the the cricket the World Series of cricket crickets fucking hard Jack said that?
01:45:17 The pro cricket players were looking at my swing, and they were like we could we could really use that guy sure yeah
01:45:23 That's what I you want me. I bet they're genuinely impressed. Yeah, I'll grab him right now that they weren't just being nice. Yeah
01:45:28 They singled me out over your swing. That's for sure yeah
01:45:31 I'm not well. I'm not saying I could take over the world in cricket
01:45:34 You just said baseball players if so facto. We're still trying to get me drafted. Let's not forget that in fact
01:45:40 Yeah, we got breaking moves
01:45:43 Oh

01:46:11 Oh
01:46:13 Beer Olympics which we will be attending begrudgingly

01:46:54 I'll it's it's it's for charity. It's for a good cause rather than just drinking beers with the fucking boys
01:46:59 Perfect that is yeah, that's gonna be a great event everyone should go to that event
01:47:06 Not the beer Olympics
01:47:08 Okay Hank yes spiders are back in a big way
01:47:13 I
01:47:16 Don't really I I don't really know what to do every time I get rid of them
01:47:18 They keep coming back, and they're I'll start taking pictures. They're fucking huge
01:47:22 I feel like I'm just eating spiders in my sleep which leaves me my next point if you guys I'm sure you all remember
01:47:29 Remember, I was like sleeping basically upside down last year
01:47:33 Yeah, bed was angled and I didn't realize it for like a couple months like a bat
01:47:36 I recall I sat at my bed, and I oh this you you didn't have the slats set up perfectly
01:47:43 yeah, I had him slanted downwards like I when I the slats were set up at the
01:47:47 Way I screwed it in like doca beam they came down yeah
01:47:51 And I fucked up my back stop touching the microphone, and I think I let's say please
01:47:58 I mean, it's annoying the fucking all the listeners out there heard Hank. Just like grabbing the microphone
01:48:03 They're probably like oh is my radio broken or my earbuds broken Hank
01:48:07 We're taping this at 3 o'clock right after your afternoon or right before your afternoon siesta
01:48:12 You usually take a nap right around now. Oh, yes, I'm in 430 what?
01:48:16 What then I'm probably gonna take a nap for what was your prediction for this game?
01:48:23 Yeah, see it's not me. It's you you're you're you're the nervous little thing right now
01:48:29 Something's by
01:48:33 Six whoa three four six okay didn't cover
01:48:36 Now fuckers do you have a marriage bet with Tiffany?
01:48:39 Yeah, we're working on something. We're trying to figure it out before the game time I
01:48:44 Think the loser should have to smooch the winner
01:48:48 I see I suggested the loser has to pay for mouth stuff trip wherever we choose to go together
01:48:54 Yeah, and what airline?
01:48:56 Not American yeah
01:48:59 But if so if so de facto long story short I
01:49:04 Was like on the phone I was I was doing some day drinking Saturday, and I was just on the phone with someone and I
01:49:14 Kind of like not jumped on my bed
01:49:17 But just like fell on the bed on the phone, and I think I broke one of my slats you having phone sex
01:49:21 No, I was just you broke your bed having phone sex you guys are the worst never mind. I haven't checked the damage
01:49:28 I haven't said you're drunk. I think called someone on the phone
01:49:31 And I was on the phone with a friend being making plans, okay, and I
01:49:36 Pretty sure I were the plans like I'm gonna come in ten minutes
01:49:43 So they're some five
01:49:45 He's sleepy finish finish I know this is a I can't exist
01:49:52 I can't exist finish
01:49:56 Based off my sleep the last couple nights. I'm pretty sure I broke the slats in my bed
01:50:01 And I haven't checked it. Yeah, they might not be broken. They might just you know how they can come off, but they're not broken
01:50:10 Yeah, so just look just lift your you just haven't looked why forgot
01:50:14 I woke up this morning again. It was like what the fuck and then I left and then it like hit me today
01:50:18 I was like oh a normal person would just look the minute they woke up and said what the fuck I
01:50:23 Was I didn't know what it was I got up at 6:30 this morning
01:50:28 So I was just like I must be tired, and I was like oh, and I was like my back hurts
01:50:31 I was like oh, I think
01:50:32 Shit, yeah, you just lift the mattress up and the slats probably fell down in between the box correct
01:50:38 So they're not broken. We'll say who knows could be anything
01:50:41 I love the fact that you just slept on a uneven bed for like a year you were sleeping
01:50:45 It was I doubt it was three months, and he's also he just started a new streak
01:50:49 It's gonna be another three months here before he looks under his mattress. Yeah, I'm gonna get to the bottom of it
01:50:54 Are you yeah when?
01:50:56 Probably not tonight
01:50:59 Maybe Celtics when TIF comes helps you repair your bed so tune in for the mayor's bet
01:51:07 Yeah, nice, okay, I'm excited
01:51:09 My fire fast gestures any suggestions that aren't actually that's dumb
01:51:14 Do you want do you want to do you want to take that back? Yeah, okay? It's an easy fix
01:51:20 Anyways my fire fest of the week is I posted this online yesterday. You said you had a doozy is this the doozy?
01:51:28 Yeah, this is doozy. Okay
01:51:29 Life goal accomplished yes put the check mark next to it your boy got an El Camino
01:51:35 It's been my dream car for a very long time. There's one word to describe an El Camino, and it's bitchin this ride is fucking sweet
01:51:42 1970
01:51:44 SS racing stripe
01:51:46 Cherry red it is the El Camino of El Camino, so I got it it purrs
01:51:51 it makes a great noise, and I was driving around yesterday and I
01:51:56 parked it on the side of the road and
01:51:59 Now it won't start oh now. It doesn't start
01:52:03 So far is awesome by the way congratulations. It was thank you incredible. I'm happy very very happy for you
01:52:08 I'm actually thinking about getting a mullet as an accessory to my car like because the El Camino is a mullet of cars
01:52:14 It's business in the front party in the back
01:52:16 So it doesn't start now, and I don't know what to do with it
01:52:20 I guess I have to get it towed somewhere and have them fix it
01:52:23 I got a lot of work. I knew that I had to put some work into it
01:52:26 It's not like a hundred percent ready to roll yet
01:52:28 The sound system is awesome. That's the important part but
01:52:33 I
01:52:34 Have to fix like all the lights the wiring on the inside
01:52:37 And now I was cool with that. I was like whatever you know like it's just wiring the the motor is fine
01:52:43 It's it's been rebuilt. It's gonna do me good, and I pulled it over and now it doesn't start
01:52:49 so it's just on the side of the road right now and
01:52:51 I have a feeling like this is I'm just gonna have to become like a car guy
01:52:55 It's gonna be the thing that I try to fix up and never gets actually correctly fixed. That'd be cool though
01:52:59 It'd be cool, and I'm an aspiring car guy in the short time that I've had it
01:53:03 I've realized why old dudes become car guy yeah, so I drove it around and every guy every dude
01:53:09 That's above the age of like 45 stops you and like flags you down. It's like that's a cool car, man, right?
01:53:14 What's under the hood was that 456 and then you get into a conversation you make a new friend that that's how old guys
01:53:20 Make friends not only that but old cars break down. That's how old guys just spend their day
01:53:25 Yeah, just working their own car working on their car. Yeah, I'm gonna have to figure out first of all what's wrong with it
01:53:31 And why it won't start and then hopefully I can get it back in working order shortly because
01:53:37 This is the best car for the summertime, and I need to have this ready for me for the summertime
01:53:41 I was so excited yesterday, and I put out that video and then about literally an hour later
01:53:47 The car just doesn't start now. Yeah, so whatever just play the video
01:53:52 Yeah, just keep playing the video. I do close my mind yourself. I close my eyes, and I think about I'm like fuck yes
01:53:57 I have an El Camino at home for me. Yeah, and
01:53:59 I'm very excited about the potential behind it, but now I'm just I'm realizing that I'm gonna just pour a bunch of money into fixing
01:54:07 This car. I'm very happy for you. I at my
01:54:09 Dream my El Camino like car is like just a sick old Cadillac
01:54:15 Yeah, I want a sick old Cadillac or Bronco Broncos more of a beach car
01:54:19 But like a sick old Cadillac that could sit three people in the front yeah like huge front end on it
01:54:24 Yeah, big-ass boat. Yeah, I want one of those so I've been also thinking about how to
01:54:29 Accessorize the El Camino because it does need some sort of like flare to it
01:54:33 It's a cool car, but when you have an El Camino you have to have bitchin bumper stickers
01:54:37 Mm-hmm so the ones that I've got on my shortlist. I want to get an ass gas or grass nobody rides for free bumper sticker
01:54:43 That's a good one
01:54:45 Maybe Calvin peeing on something
01:54:48 Calvin peeing on the Ford logo
01:54:50 Maybe Calvin peeing on Charlotte the stingray Calvin peeing on the Dallas Cowboys star. Yep one of those things
01:54:55 One that says if you're gonna ride my ass at least grab my hair. I think that'd be a good one
01:55:01 And yeah, maybe maybe one that just says like
01:55:04 Legalized soup. I don't know
01:55:07 I don't know
01:55:08 But I got a I got to accessorize this thing get the hula girl the fuzzy dice hanging from it
01:55:12 Customized horn maybe get maybe get max rolling around with a keg in the back, so I'm like the ice cream guy
01:55:18 But for here yeah, you just go around selling beer to dudes. It's unlimited
01:55:23 Mr.. Unlimited. Yeah, I'm very excited
01:55:26 I feel like I've been an El Camino guy my entire life just without the El Camino, but now that I have it
01:55:32 It's not working, so I don't know if you fix cars in Chicago. Let me know if you specialize
01:55:37 Oh in 1970s cars, I would I would love to hear from you because we got to get this baby purring
01:55:42 It also needs a name so
01:55:44 Feel free to give gotta be chick name chick names
01:55:48 Tiffany Carmen Oh Tiffany's a good name
01:55:52 Tiffany's really are you just you?
01:55:56 So we said a woman's name for a car, and you came up with Carmen Carmen Sandia
01:56:01 I was thinking Carmen Sandia just said the name car yeah
01:56:05 Carmen Sandia
01:56:07 Caroline
01:56:09 Carmen San Diego red yeah sexy red who's sexy red yeah sexy red sexy reds pretty good
01:56:16 Sexy red yeah, that's not a name
01:56:19 It is a car. Yeah, and it's also a person's an adjective in a color. It's a person's name Andy Reed
01:56:26 Yeah, yeah, Andy reads Carmela
01:56:31 Carbo there you go Hank another one sexy red sexy red is good my pussy pink my transmission fluid brown
01:56:37 Yeah, sexy red
01:56:39 You got a Camino now you can do that I can do anything I can do a mr.. Unlimited
01:56:48 I I have transcended race. I'm no longer a white man. I'm a I've achieved the most powerful form of white boy summer of all time
01:56:55 Yeah, I'm a white boy with a fucking El Camino ready to go
01:56:58 Okay
01:57:00 Congrats again, that's awesome. Thank you, but I'm afraid I'm afraid I'm gonna like double the price of the car
01:57:05 Just trying to fix it up. Yeah, probably
01:57:07 By the way is Vanny woodhead here I
01:57:11 Haven't seen it
01:57:14 Might've got a no way go check in the loading dock
01:57:17 Was it supposed to be here not here yesterday? It was not here on Monday either. I looked yeah the loading dock
01:57:25 It's supposed to get here at some point. Yeah, might be lost in
01:57:29 Lost in the sauce somewhere out there Billy might have just gotten ahead of it on the road
01:57:33 And then just carjack the dude that's driving it over here. Yeah
01:57:35 All right, I don't really have a fire fest
01:57:39 I guess I guess I gotta just stop responding to people on Twitter because I every time I do I just realized that like then
01:57:45 It just has a bunch of other people responded some guy was like you yawned a bunch on Sunday night
01:57:50 I was tired, and I was like yeah, this is
01:57:52 unfortunately having
01:57:55 Three kids is like there's I'm tired
01:57:57 I don't have any time to myself which
01:57:59 Not a complaint because I love I have the best life ever
01:58:02 But then just a bunch of people being like we didn't tell you to have kids
01:58:05 There were some people who were backing me up, but I just gotta just not did they tell you have kids?
01:58:10 Those kilos people did not tell me I have kids okay
01:58:12 So those if you did not tell big cat to have kids then you'd have a legitimate gripe
01:58:16 Yeah, it was a simple just response to why I was yawning not there
01:58:21 That was why I was yawning. I am I'm just perpetually tired. It's just you're gonna have to deal with it
01:58:25 Yeah, I do that showing up. Yeah, Hank has the same thing going on in his life
01:58:29 Maybe Hanks tired all the time because he sleeps on an uneven jagged edge of a bed
01:58:33 Yeah, Hank sleeps on the aggro crag, and then he wonders why he's tired all day
01:58:36 It's been like two days chill out
01:58:40 You slept for four months upside down
01:58:42 But if I yawn, that's why it's not because I'm bored. It's because I probably have not slept ever big cat
01:58:48 Can I step in real quick?
01:58:49 I think I think the appropriate person to blame for your tiredness is actually Hank because Hank's always yawning
01:58:55 And then it's contagious and you're that shit true so stop yawning true true true true
01:59:01 I'm when you guys made me on in the podcast I do yeah disgusting y'all haven't done it since
01:59:06 I also don't know what it is about this
01:59:09 Specific spring I don't know if you guys have felt this but like this is supposed to be our
01:59:15 Not as busy time and it's felt like it's way busier than ever way busier. I don't know what's going on
01:59:21 Mm-hmm. Someone didn't get the message that this is supposed to be our not busy time. Yeah, I thought it was like after Memorial
01:59:26 I think it's after NBA Finals and NHL finals. Yeah, well, that's big
01:59:29 But I already know the schedule for the rest of the summer and there's no break. So I feel like
01:59:34 Yeah, again, these complaints are not real complaints. We know we have the best job in the world
01:59:38 I don't want anyone to be like I can't believe you guys are complaining about this. I'm literally just stating a fact
01:59:42 That's why I was tired. Go ahead. Yeah, I was just gonna say NBA NHL playoffs. They're sneaky. I think we have this conversation
01:59:49 Yeah, that's true
01:59:49 They are we work later hours than we do usually in football season because football season late night Sunday and then late night Thursday
01:59:57 But I'm talking about NBA playoffs. It's Sunday Tuesday Thursday night every night, but we just have other stuff going on. That's just
02:00:04 I'm a golf all week. I am going on three-day vacation next week. We'll have regular shows. Don't worry
02:00:10 Uh, okay, you know what it is. It's also knowing the beer Olympics are coming. Ah, that's what it is
02:00:15 That's what's my you have something you just desperately do not want to do
02:00:19 Sitting in front of you for as long as it's been sitting in front of us
02:00:23 Your whole life is just basically ruined
02:00:26 Yeah
02:00:26 So if but actually if you need to blame big cat for being tired blame Hank for yawning and also blame Will Compton for beer
02:00:33 Olympic for existing. Yeah. Yeah
02:00:35 funny enough
02:00:38 We were gonna do a yak case race and I invited Willie said yes, and then he
02:00:41 Bounced out of it. Oh, really? Yeah, he doesn't like traveling places to drink beer. Yeah funny enough
02:00:47 No
02:00:48 he said he had to go to T you which we would love to go to but we have the dozen which we have the dozen
02:00:52 Because of beer Olympics being rescheduled. Yeah, doesn't he have the dozen? Yeah, he's gonna go and come back. He doesn't plan on winning
02:00:59 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the whole team doesn't plan on when he has a much shorter stop at the dozen. Yeah
02:01:04 Okay, Jake
02:01:07 I aggravated my arm a little bit. Don't ask how but how oh, well since you asked I was lifting. Oh, so oh nice
02:01:15 Yeah, but
02:01:17 Running some bio freeze on it and should be good to go over this weekend. Oh, okay. What do you got playing this weekend golf?
02:01:23 Nice. Yeah, how much?
02:01:25 - maybe three. Whoa, you are getting low-key Jake you're getting I see I can see the muscles you think yeah
02:01:34 Appreciate it. You get a little jack there. Yeah work on it
02:01:37 You want to fish this off max your deli slicer?
02:01:40 Yeah, no, I found my new hobby and my passion in life, which is deli slicing
02:01:46 But I may have to retire because cleaning it is a real bitch
02:01:51 This is like every everyone always has a little flirtation with cooking and then they forget the cleaning part
02:01:59 But this cleaning you have to get you have to get a screwdriver to clean it
02:02:02 you have to like
02:02:04 Don it's also I'm with Donny who's like a professional world-class cleaner of
02:02:08 Kitchen appliances. Why don't you get an intern to clean it? I
02:02:12 That's that's an excellent point. That's how I have the power. Do I have the power? Yes. Yes
02:02:17 It sounds like a medical emergency waiting to happen
02:02:19 I are I also cut my two of my fingers make one of the interns be just in charge of cleaning it
02:02:25 Okay, we don't I don't want to lose
02:02:27 My sliced meat
02:02:29 Because you don't want to clean something. Okay. Good. No, the solution is make someone else clean it. Okay good
02:02:34 No, this is great. But like cleaning it is a huge issue. But the the deli slicer is great
02:02:39 I got PFT on the sticks today. How satisfying is it get getting a nice?
02:02:43 it was nice getting a nice hunk of salami in there and just hearing the
02:02:48 Of the the engine of of those see you got the engine of the of the El Camino this week. I got the deli slice
02:02:56 Yeah, the deli slicer is it's powerful and feels you feel good when you do it. You feel like a man cutting your own meat
02:03:02 I was saying that Max's are Jared from Subway. Yeah
02:03:05 No, you got the pants. No, the big pants that you like
02:03:09 Hank looks like sure that's true. He doesn't
02:03:11 What?
02:03:14 Why don't you just to clean it just get a big-ass bar of soap and then just cut the soap
02:03:19 No, like you're cutting the meat like meat and then it cleans itself inside of the blade
02:03:23 So you have to take it all apart to get the meat and and the blade
02:03:27 I don't know if someone oh if someone owns a deli and knows tricks to cleaning it
02:03:32 Let me know because I don't do donkey
02:03:34 It was a disaster trying to figure out how to clean this thing. You don't have to clean it every day, right?
02:03:40 That's what I said, but then he was giving me shit even some of the meat on it add some seasoning to it
02:03:44 Donnie was giving me shit max. When am I gonna get to cut a basketball?
02:03:49 I think it'll ruin so I told max that we should actually want a football
02:03:54 We should cut a football and make a sandwich out of football. Yeah, when am I gonna cut a basketball? I mean
02:04:00 if it
02:04:03 Whenever yeah
02:04:05 It doesn't matter. Yeah
02:04:08 There's like 500 bucks. Yeah. Yeah
02:04:10 Honestly, it should pay for itself. Donnie was talking shit on the one that you got. Oh
02:04:15 He wants it like a French brand he why he wants a guillotine he know he just said that you he was like
02:04:21 Yeah, you just got a deli so that's impossible to clean. Oh, no. Oh we could we could upgrade
02:04:26 What are you doing in my swamp? Listen?
02:04:30 He's just doing track line
02:04:35 Hank Hank tried to blame it on me Hank does have so much nervous energy right now
02:04:42 And that is partially why he's putting on his little cape and is his his armor. I
02:04:47 Can't wait to be mad max this week
02:04:50 You know you should do you should dress up like mad max mad max you and Drake elite company
02:04:59 Fine, why don't you drink put a big bet on the maps?
02:05:02 Oh Drake and Jared from subway probably good buddies - hmm Jack max CFP put a big put a big bet on the Celtics
02:05:08 It's honestly terrifying. Yeah. Yeah, it should be it is I trust my man. I trust him more than most same
02:05:14 always have
02:05:17 Yeah, yeah the way the way you just said that was disrespect. Yeah, you're doing me being cheeky
02:05:23 I've literally been then I've always had the big cat and I are the are the real we will not eat the ball
02:05:28 Yeah, we will not eat
02:05:30 Big had our elite glazers. I'll say that you will never eat the bug two of the top glazers in the world I
02:05:37 Will not eat the bug Lucas so fucking good, dude. I
02:05:40 Wear it. I have a Celtics in seven. Oh, yes. Thank you
02:05:45 Max get your slicer
02:05:50 We're gonna slice this no
02:05:52 Don't get
02:05:58 What other lines of dialogue from that's it ogres are like onions on us bad we have flyers
02:06:06 That was good max what are you doing in my swamp Fiona wait, so what is it deli days once a week?
02:06:12 Sure, whatever you want it to be. Yeah meat day. We can do it. We can do a different menu each week
02:06:18 I think we get better bread
02:06:20 Yeah, the bread that's hot
02:06:22 Pug did that sorry Pug?
02:06:24 Pug gonna tomatoes how many times yeah?
02:06:27 We literally work next to like incredible Italian bakery if you would put pug on the slicer
02:06:32 How many slices do you think it would take to cut through all of Pug? Oh good question?
02:06:35 I think
02:06:37 Well it depends how thin
02:06:40 175 oh you think that I get him thinner I get him thinner. Yeah, no you get him you do thicker slices
02:06:45 No, you said oh, I thought we were trying to get it as they know
02:06:47 I'm saying like what's the fastest you can cut through gotta get the jerky from Paulina. We gotta cut that how quickly do you think?
02:06:55 We should do a series like is it cake, but could it slice will it slice and episode one mr.. Pear oh
02:07:03 No, no well that would be part of the shameless
02:07:06 The shameless yeah, well the real shame
02:07:09 If you're real shame of somebody ran mr.. Pear through the meat slicer
02:07:13 Jesus real real shame. Let's see if he can get Celtics and Oilers home
02:07:18 Yeah, that's true. He's that need be an incredible HL. He's he was spot-on got every series right right memes
02:07:25 Except for one except for the one yeah well
02:07:31 See everyone
