00:36 Game time's the place.
00:37 Game time's the place and PrizePix
00:39 makes the games a little more fun.
00:40 So PrizePix and Game Time.
00:43 I am Evan Maranofsky.
00:45 I'm solo today.
00:47 It's just you and me.
00:48 Just you and me.
00:50 I like to do these every now and again.
00:52 Just us talking today, the listener.
00:54 It's a chill episode.
00:56 This is a, this should be a little relaxing, you know?
00:59 I'm not gonna be as upbeat or up pace as I normally am.
01:02 Do you guys like that?
01:05 How fast?
01:06 Not how fast, but typically I like podcasts
01:09 to go 25 to 45 minutes.
01:13 I don't like going much longer than that.
01:16 I don't like drawing things out,
01:17 especially considering we do a lot of these.
01:20 So I don't wanna repeat myself a ton
01:22 and your time is precious.
01:24 But if you want, I don't know.
01:26 You don't want two hours, do you?
01:28 You don't want two hours for a show.
01:30 It'd be a lot of Bruins.
01:32 So anyways, this is a solo episode.
01:35 It's just me.
01:37 I think Connor's doing a solo poke the bear too.
01:40 Just kind of our own end of the week thoughts.
01:43 So make sure you go check that out as well.
01:46 Hope y'all are having a good one.
01:48 I think you'll hear this after game one of the NBA finals.
01:51 So hopefully the Celtics hold that one out.
01:54 And there's some things I wanna talk about today.
01:58 Some I've touched on before,
02:00 but new developments and some new stuff.
02:04 Some new stuff in terms of some media news that's come out
02:08 that I wanna give my two cents on, my takes.
02:12 But we'll start here.
02:15 So the other day, Mike Moriel from the NHL draft combine
02:21 talked to Tom Fitzgerald, the GM of the New Jersey Devils.
02:27 And Tom Fitzgerald mentioned that the Devils are open
02:31 to trading the number 10 pick,
02:33 and they're also looking for a goalie.
02:36 So just to give you the quotes,
02:37 Tom Fitzgerald said, "If we feel it helps us now
02:41 and in the foreseeable future, then yes, I'm listening.
02:44 I haven't gotten anything yet,
02:46 but the more I talk to teams, I say, listen,
02:49 I'm open to moving number 10,
02:50 but it's gonna have to be something significant.
02:53 At the end of the day, we're in a position now
02:56 versus two years ago when we drafted Simon Nemec,
02:59 where if we can find the right piece
03:00 to help us get to where we wanna go today, tomorrow,
03:03 and wherever the controllable future is for that player,
03:06 great, that's the mindset versus great.
03:08 We have a top 10 pick and this kid is gonna be fantastic
03:10 when he's 25 years old."
03:11 So that whole thing is saying,
03:14 hey, we need help now.
03:19 A number 10 pick most likely is not coming to your team
03:25 for two to three years.
03:27 The devils are in a very much win now mode.
03:32 And then they also need this.
03:33 He mentioned this about goal-tending.
03:35 I'm in the goalie market talking to teams,
03:37 but there's a but, there's a but on the goalie market.
03:40 Huh, interesting.
03:42 But there's a but,
03:42 and the but is how do we want to build our team?
03:45 We'd like to add up front,
03:47 we'd like to add on the backend.
03:48 So what are those pieces gonna cost us?
03:50 With the goal-tending, what's that going to cost us?
03:54 And if you guys recall on the last Bruins beat,
03:57 I mentioned this to Connor Ryan,
03:58 in terms of getting your next franchise
04:04 true number one center, right?
04:06 The guy that you're gonna hope to have for quite a while,
04:11 someone that you, a cornerstone of your franchise,
04:15 Elias Lindholm kind of fits that bill, but he's also 30.
04:20 So again, like, if the Bruins did sign an Elias Lindholm,
04:24 he's a number one center for the next three to four years.
04:28 We'll see what happens with age.
04:31 We'll see where his fit is, all that stuff.
04:34 But in terms of a homegrown guy,
04:37 your best bet is through the draft.
04:39 I've said that all last year
04:41 after "Birds Run and Create," you retired.
04:43 I've said it all season.
04:45 I'll say it again, that is your best bet.
04:48 That is your best bet.
04:51 And again, via trade, do you have the pieces to do it?
04:56 Like, ultimately your best young pieces to trade
04:59 are Patra, Lowry, Swayman.
05:02 Those three could probably be the centerpiece of a deal
05:06 to go out and get a true legit number one center,
05:09 but you're not trading Swayman.
05:11 And I see the trade Swayman stuff.
05:13 I see there's a fair amount of fans who will say,
05:16 "Keep Ol' Mark, trade Swayman,
05:18 'cause Swayman has more value."
05:21 You got yourself a legit,
05:22 potentially elite number one goalie at his age,
05:26 you hold onto that.
05:28 You hold onto that, and we've been over this.
05:30 It's, yes, there are goalies like Stuart Skinner
05:35 and Aiden Hill and Jordan Binnington
05:38 who get their teams to cup finals and they win,
05:41 and that's terrific.
05:42 But for every one of those stories,
05:44 there's six others, seven, 10, whatever others,
05:48 there's lots more others of just teams
05:51 that fizzled out in the first round
05:52 and then they need a goalie, and then they need a goalie.
05:55 You don't have to be one of those teams.
05:58 You don't wanna be one of those teams.
05:59 You hold onto Jeremy Swayman.
06:01 Mason Lowry, unicorn kind of defenseman,
06:05 6'5", great skater, great skill, high offensive upside,
06:09 definitely some work in his own zone to be done,
06:13 but serviceable.
06:15 And a guy who's a potential top pairing left shot defenseman.
06:19 You hold onto those guys, especially at 6'5".
06:23 Now, again, Mark Diver and I talked about this last week.
06:27 Is Mason Lowry gonna become a bruiser
06:29 who is taking guys down left and right
06:31 in front of his own net?
06:33 No, no, he's not, probably not.
06:36 But you'll take whatever he gives you
06:39 if he's putting up one of his own.
06:43 He's putting up, in his prime, 45, 50 points a season.
06:48 I don't think that's crazy, and I'm not trading that.
06:51 And you can call me a homer all you want.
06:53 You can say I have Bruins colored glasses on.
06:56 I'm not trading him right now.
06:58 I'm just not.
06:59 And Matt Poch was a center,
07:01 a young center with a lot of promise,
07:03 who looks to be, at the very least,
07:05 at the very, very least, a middle six center,
07:09 most likely a number two center.
07:14 Based off what we've seen.
07:15 Based off hands, compete, hockey IQ,
07:20 in the number two center for the future.
07:22 And if he turns into a number one center, then perfect.
07:25 That's great.
07:27 But you're not trading those guys.
07:29 And you don't have many picks to trade.
07:31 You don't have a lot of other young players worth a ton.
07:35 The days of Fabian Lysell going for,
07:37 or being the main piece of a package,
07:41 are probably done until he raises the value more.
07:45 So your best bet's the draft.
07:47 And this is the move.
07:49 The Bruins should be hitting up
07:53 the New Jersey Devils right now and saying,
07:55 "What's it gonna take to do Lena Solmark
07:58 "for the number 10 pick?"
07:59 Or Lena Solmark to them,
08:03 Todd Anderson's big on Don Mercer and another pick.
08:07 Like, what's it gonna take to do that kind of move?
08:10 And I'm fine with the move I just mentioned,
08:12 Dawson Mercer, but I love the idea
08:15 of a high-end first-round pick.
08:18 And I know, I know they're lottery tickets.
08:21 I do.
08:22 I get that.
08:23 But you need a good lottery ticket.
08:26 This team needs one.
08:28 This team needs one.
08:30 And I just mentioned a few seconds ago,
08:34 you think about the guys in Providence
08:37 who are developing or below that, right?
08:39 Your Chris Pelosi's, your Beckett Hendrickson's.
08:42 Is there anyone in there that's high-end
08:46 that you're expecting to reach the NHL level and pop?
08:50 Not really, no.
08:53 And so again, you need kind of an infusion
08:56 of one or two young pieces
09:00 who have a high ceiling.
09:03 And we mentioned this on "Pope the Bear."
09:07 There are some interesting names in that range
09:11 of six to 13 in the draft.
09:15 You'll have your chance at some solid centers.
09:20 Berkeley Caton was a guy that we mentioned.
09:22 It's Logan Koulikamps.
09:24 I think Corey Proudmon of the athletic had him ranked sixth.
09:27 But that's a guy that if he falls to you at 10,
09:31 you take, you take.
09:33 Caden Lindstrom, I think was another one.
09:36 I don't have the official thing in front of me
09:37 and I'm not an expert on draft prospects around the world.
09:41 I'd say I'm a pretty, I would say, relatively speaking,
09:44 I'm an expert on New England draft prospects.
09:47 You wanna talk about Cole Iserman, Teddy Stiga,
09:49 Ben Merrill, Caden Harrington, Joe Connor,
09:51 Owen Keith, Gio DiGiulian.
09:54 You wanna talk about those guys?
09:56 I can tell you whatever you need to know.
09:57 But in terms of Berkeley Caton and those guys
10:01 that from outside of here, not as up on.
10:06 But again, there's your shot.
10:09 There's your chance at number 10.
10:11 Now the question is, would Lena Solmark
10:13 be able to go to New Jersey straight up
10:16 for the number 10 pick?
10:17 I think if you can get a contract extension done
10:19 with Lena Solmark, I think New Jersey does that.
10:22 I do.
10:23 Or there's at least a chance.
10:25 Because for them, you're filling a need full stop.
10:29 So this off season, you'll be able to say,
10:31 hey, all we did was give up number 10 pick
10:32 and we got a legit number one goalie
10:34 won the best night a year ago.
10:36 Now it takes time for goalies to adjust to new environments.
10:41 I actually have a story for New England Hockey Journal
10:42 coming soon.
10:43 If you guys wanna check it out.
10:45 I think it's gonna drop on Monday.
10:46 I mean, I'm the one dropping it.
10:48 So it's scheduled for Monday.
10:51 So I don't see why I wouldn't go Monday
10:52 on the development path of young goalies
10:56 from the ages of 14 to about 18, 19 college age.
11:00 Fascinating stuff.
11:02 I was not a goalie growing up.
11:03 I'm not a goalie guru,
11:05 but it was fascinating to talk to a lot of people
11:07 who are goalie gurus.
11:08 So be on the lookout for that.
11:11 But again, Lena Solmark goes to New,
11:13 if Lena Solmark were to go to New Jersey,
11:16 I mean, it's a perfect fit for them.
11:18 It is.
11:19 And I know there's a lot of people
11:20 who want Lena Solmark to go for a top six center
11:24 or to get players in return.
11:26 And that's terrific.
11:27 Like if you can pull that off,
11:29 whether it's like Marty Natchez or someone else,
11:31 great, I'm all for it.
11:33 But if you did just deal them for a high-end
11:36 first-round pick, you're getting the cap space.
11:39 So you can go out and sign a higher-end player
11:43 or trade for a higher-end player.
11:46 If you somehow find the pieces to do that,
11:48 most likely that'd be free agency
11:49 that you would use that cap space.
11:51 So this seems like a great opportunity.
11:55 It is.
11:55 Now, again, I haven't even mentioned this.
11:58 Lena Solmark has to want to go to New Jersey.
12:00 That's the other part of this.
12:03 And that's gonna take some convincing from the Bruins
12:05 if that team is on his no trade list.
12:08 But I mean, again, number 10 pick, I'm all for it.
12:13 Let me know what you guys think.
12:15 Tweet at me, comment on this video.
12:17 What do you think?
12:18 I mean, would that be a trade
12:19 that you would want the Bruins to make?
12:21 Someone recently reached out to me on Twitter
12:24 and I don't have the tweet in front of me,
12:26 but they mentioned Sean Monahan in Winnipeg.
12:29 It's an interesting case.
12:32 I think Monahan got a little bit overrated
12:34 at the deadline last year,
12:35 just because teams needed centers
12:37 and teams now with deadlines want to get out ahead
12:40 of the actual day and make trades weeks in advance,
12:44 try to get lower prices.
12:45 Monahan still went for a first.
12:47 He's a good middle six center.
12:50 You have enough of those.
12:51 The Bruins have enough middle six guys,
12:53 Zaka, Coyle, Geeky, Patra at the moment.
12:57 Like you don't really need a Sean Monahan.
13:01 If you had two legit top six centers
13:05 and your third line needed a boost,
13:06 then my God, like you take Sean Monahan.
13:10 But no, I'm not big on signing Sean Monahan.
13:17 There's more I want to get to in terms of signings,
13:20 as well as who should you guys be rooting for
13:23 in the Stanley Cup?
13:24 Panthers or the Oilers?
13:25 The answer might seem pretty obvious.
13:28 I don't know.
13:29 Just think about that.
13:30 We'll talk.
13:31 Let me know what you think.
13:32 But first, quick word from our friends over at PrizePicks.

14:59 Now let's get back to the show.
15:01 - So I find this to be interesting.
15:04 Before we get to who you should root for in the Stanley Cup,
15:09 so David Pagnotta tweeted the other day,
15:16 the NHL, the NHL Bruins, I almost read the hashtag.
15:20 I don't know if it's just me, I have no need for hashtags.
15:24 None, stop using the hashtags.
15:27 Like if I'm gonna look up what the Bruins did in a game
15:30 and I'll just search Bruins,
15:33 I'm not gonna search like #NHLBruins.
15:35 Or like the Panthers, I think it's like #TimeToHunt.
15:40 Who is searching #TimeToHunt?
15:43 I don't get that, just tweet the team name.
15:45 God, I see like high-end insiders doing this or other people,
15:50 I don't get the hashtags.
15:52 I know that the team logo is next to it.
15:56 I have no need for it, just tweet the team name, please.
15:59 So David Pagnotta, I don't want my little rant
16:03 that overshadow what he said.
16:05 The Bruins are expected to speak
16:06 with Danton Heinen's camp this week
16:08 and start discussions on a potential new contract.
16:11 Heinen is one of Boston's nine pending UFAs.
16:13 This is interesting.
16:14 So Danton Heinen had a really strong season
16:21 this past winter and overachieved.
16:23 I mean, at least in terms of what our expectations
16:26 were for him, given he was on a PTO at the beginning,
16:29 earned a contract and became a Swiss Army knife
16:32 who could play anywhere.
16:34 He works hard, he plays hard, he can play in any situation.
16:39 He can play anywhere in the lineup,
16:40 you can slot him in the top six,
16:41 you can put him on the fourth line, the third line.
16:44 PK, like he is responsible and as well-rounded a player
16:48 as you can find at that price point.
16:50 Here's my thing with re-signing him.
16:52 It better be at a good price.
16:55 I don't know what teams are gonna value him at.
17:01 I don't know what the market's gonna look like
17:03 when it opens on July 1st.
17:05 I know the athletic, I think speculated he'd make
17:07 like four years times 3 million
17:09 or it was three years times 4 million.
17:11 I want no part of that if I'm the Bruins.
17:13 I don't.
17:14 And it's nothing against Danton Heinen.
17:15 It's not because, oh, Danton Heinen,
17:17 he's not worth the money.
17:18 I think for a team that needs a good, reliable third liner
17:21 who can potentially slot in up top, he's a perfect fit.
17:24 He's a perfect fit.
17:26 But this team has enough of those guys.
17:30 Your third line is pretty much, at least right now,
17:32 already set for next year.
17:34 Frederick, Geeky, Brozho, does Patra start the year
17:37 in Boston?
17:38 'Cause if so, he's probably on that third line.
17:40 So then like you add Patra to the mix.
17:42 You have enough of those guys.
17:46 You do.
17:46 I mean, depending on what they do at center,
17:47 could Charlie Coyle be moving?
17:49 Could he be moving down there?
17:51 Now, if you wanna trade a Brozho or a Frederick
17:56 or a Geeky and you wanna keep Heinen, sure.
18:01 If you feel his offense is better
18:03 and the upside is there, great.
18:05 I mean, I think Heinen fits in better in the top six
18:07 than probably Frederick does at this point.
18:09 I think of your third liners, Heinen fits up there better.
18:12 I mean, Geeky is like on par, but Heinen can slot in.
18:17 But you have those guys.
18:19 You have enough of those players.
18:21 Your money should be spent on top,
18:24 true top six talent this off season and in net
18:29 and a veteran left shot defenseman.
18:30 You don't need Heinen.
18:32 You just don't.
18:33 As I said, if you trade one of those guys, then sure.
18:37 Like that's okay.
18:39 You can bring Heinen back,
18:40 but if you're not gonna make any subsequent moves
18:44 and it's just, oh, we're gonna bring back Danton Heinen
18:46 for three years and 3 million, why?
18:51 Like you've got enough of those guys.
18:53 So, again, awesome season, feel good season.
18:57 If they get them at the right price, great.
18:59 And as you guys know,
19:00 this is a pro players getting the bag podcast.
19:05 So if Danton Heinen secures 4 million somewhere,
19:08 here or anywhere, we're gonna say,
19:09 hey, props to Danton Heinen.
19:14 Go get your money.
19:15 But if it's with the Bruins, we're gonna say,
19:16 well, what are the Bruins, what's their plan there?
19:19 Are they moving someone out from the third line?
19:22 Are they just gonna do internal competition?
19:25 So again, love Danton Heinen the player.
19:27 I just think you have enough of players
19:29 who are going to be on that third line next year.
19:31 I do.
19:32 In terms of who the Bruins fans should root for in the cup,
19:39 this is not as easy as last year.
19:41 Last year was simple.
19:43 Bruce Cassidy, easy, easy, lay up.
19:47 Oh my God, Panthers took you out.
19:49 Bruce Cassidy, you were like, where are you Bruce?
19:53 We need you back, Bruce.
19:55 That's what fans, I think we're saying.
19:57 Maybe that's what you were saying in front of your TV.
19:59 This year it's tougher.
20:03 I know everybody hates the Panthers around here at least.
20:06 So I think a lot of people are going Oilers.
20:10 There's one little scenario with the Oilers though.
20:13 And we've talked about it with Leon Dreisaitl.
20:15 If he's fed up, not wanting to sign an extension,
20:18 not wanting to resign and looking elsewhere.
20:20 The Bruins have a good history with German players.
20:23 Him and Pasternak are good buddies.
20:25 This could be a fit.
20:28 This could be a really good fit for him.
20:30 So there is that end of it where it's like,
20:32 oh, if the Oilers lost, maybe he's fed up.
20:36 Or maybe if the Oilers win, he's like,
20:38 all right, well, I'm done here.
20:39 I've won one.
20:39 I wanna go somewhere else and I wanna be my own star.
20:42 Maybe that happens.
20:44 And it's like, all right, well, go Oilers.
20:46 But there is that end of it where if they win,
20:49 it's like, all right, well, we got something good going here.
20:52 We're gonna keep this thing rolling.
20:53 I'm gonna resign here.
20:55 So Leon Dreisaitl would be my only reason
20:57 that you might wanna hold off on rooting for the Oilers.
21:01 But then you look at the other side and it's like,
21:03 well, do you want Chuck and Sam Bennett
21:06 and that Panthers team to win one
21:08 after they've taken you out two straight years?
21:10 I don't think Bruins fans particularly want that.
21:14 I think the Panthers, as Connor and Ryan and I
21:16 have talked about this quite a bit,
21:17 serve as a really good example
21:19 of what you should strive to be
21:20 in terms of roster building with centers.
21:23 You look at like Lindell,
21:26 good solid second or third line center,
21:28 but propped up well by good wings
21:30 and guys who are fast, speedy,
21:33 getting on four checks, getting on pucks hard,
21:35 things like that.
21:36 So I would say probably the Oilers,
21:40 is that one little Leon Dreisaitl thing
21:42 where it's like,
21:43 what's it gonna take to get him here?
21:47 Come on.
21:48 So yeah, probably the Oilers.
21:50 I think that starts Saturday.
21:52 That series, I believe starts Saturday, which is wild.
21:56 It's starting this late.
21:57 We're already getting the throwbacks for like,
22:02 oh, Bruins in the 2019 cup,
22:05 this was like game five, June 6th.
22:08 And it's like, yeah, it starts June 8th.
22:10 This Saturday, 8 p.m. in Florida.
22:12 So interesting stuff there.
22:15 If you wanna go to that game,
22:16 you wanna fly down for some reason, go to that game,
22:18 go check out our good friends over at Game Time.

24:09 Now, let's get back to the show.
24:11 - So Bruins fans got some tough news on Wednesday.
24:16 Obviously Jack Edwards has retired.
24:21 The Bruins play-by-play job is open.
24:24 And everybody wanted Dave Kosher.
24:26 And rightfully so.
24:27 I mean, that would have been the perfect person.
24:32 I mean, he was the voice for them on radio,
24:35 for 98.5, had the infamous, not the infamous,
24:38 the famous Bergeron, Bergeron call in 2013.
24:43 And would have been the perfect guy for TV,
24:45 the perfect guy to take over for Jack.
24:48 But he is currently the play-by-play guy
24:50 for the Vegas Golden Knights.
24:51 And he went on Mix 94.1,
24:55 which is Vegas's number one pop station.
24:58 So that would be like a local,
25:01 it'd be like Dave O'Brien, voice of the Red Sox,
25:06 going on like Kiss 108 with like Billy Costa,
25:10 being like, and Billy being like,
25:11 "So Dave, are you sticking around in Boston?"
25:13 You know, that'd be like going on like a Kiss 108
25:16 or a Country 102.5 or something like that.
25:19 You know, like, I don't know how he ended up
25:21 on a pop station.
25:22 I don't know why he didn't go on like a sports radio station
25:24 in Vegas, but he went on Mix 94.1.
25:27 And he says it, and like the room goes nuts.
25:30 Like you would have thought everyone in the room
25:32 just got a million dollars.
25:33 Like there was a woman across from him
25:34 who was like, sits back in her seat like, "Oh, oh my God!"
25:38 Like, and they cut to another guy
25:40 who was like clapping his hands,
25:41 which in fairness, if he came here,
25:44 we'd be doing the same reaction.
25:46 Would have the same reaction if Dave Gosher
25:48 decided to leave Vegas to come to Boston.
25:50 That's a hit.
25:51 It's unfortunate that he's gonna stay in Vegas,
25:53 but good for him, first of all,
25:54 for finding, you know, a long-term home.
25:57 Every play-by-play person, that's what they want.
25:59 So to get one is a big deal.
26:01 But he would have been perfect.
26:03 Dave Gosher would have been perfect.
26:06 You know, just given his history here, he's from here.
26:12 He's called a lot of NHL games before.
26:15 But again, there are other options.
26:17 You look like Alex Faust.
26:19 Alex Faust, you know, has done Bruins games in the past.
26:24 I believe he was with the Kings,
26:27 with the LA Kings for a little bit.
26:28 He does some TNT.
26:29 You also have Mike Monaco, who does games for ESPN,
26:33 does Red Sox games.
26:35 To me, those are the two guys I'm looking at.
26:39 Again, I'm not the one making the call at Nesson.
26:41 I don't have inside information on this.
26:43 But those two, you know, seem like target guys
26:48 who you would get one of them
26:50 and have them be the voice of the Bruins
26:52 for the next 20 to 30 years.
26:54 Now, again, no one knows what anyone's doing in the future.
26:58 It's hard to predict.
26:59 People leave jobs for different reasons.
27:02 But those are two, you know, younger guys
27:04 who, you know, do a national stuff,
27:08 well-respected, good announcers,
27:10 who I think would be really good fits.
27:14 I haven't listened to either enough
27:17 to have like a true favorite.
27:19 I think, you know, Faust was with the Kings for a little bit.
27:24 Mike Monaco, as I said, does Red Sox games.
27:27 I'd be fine with either of them.
27:29 I'd be fine with either of them.
27:30 I mean, it's a very desirable job.
27:32 To be the play-by-play voice
27:33 for an original six franchise is huge.
27:35 And I can imagine that there's probably
27:38 no shortage of applicants.
27:40 So those would be my two.
27:42 Dave Gosher was obviously the number one choice,
27:43 just given his history here.
27:45 But I think if you get Faust or Monaco, that's perfect.
27:48 So they could give it to someone else
27:49 that I don't even know
27:51 or a name I'm forgetting for some reason.
27:54 Bring back Doc Emmerich.
27:55 Bring back Doc for a couple seasons,
27:57 just to, I think every,
27:59 that'd be like a hundred percent approval rating.
28:00 Like, come on back, Doc.
28:01 I mean, I miss Doc Emmerich like crazy
28:04 on these national broadcasts.
28:06 I think he was perfect.
28:07 You go back and watch highlights of any playoff run
28:11 from the last, you know, 20, 30 years,
28:15 and you hear Doc's voice and it's like,
28:16 holy crap, he was outstanding.
28:19 I mean, you could do the whole gauntlet
28:22 of amazing announcers.
28:24 You know, the late Dave Strader,
28:27 whose son was a math teacher at my high school, by the way.
28:29 I never got to have him,
28:31 but anytime I saw him, we would talk NHL.
28:33 Yeah, Dave Strader was outstanding.
28:35 Gary Thorne, his grandson is actually a Gio DiGiulina kid
28:39 I mentioned earlier, who's a NHL draft candidate,
28:42 probably going to get drafted.
28:43 And he plays at Kent, the prep school in Connecticut.
28:46 Again, Gary Thorne's older.
28:48 I don't know if he would want to take on, you know,
28:50 the daily grind of Bruins' play-by-play job.
28:53 But again, Monaco, Faust,
28:55 I think those are two strong candidates,
28:57 two very strong candidates.
28:59 Other media news, Thursday morning,
29:04 the NHL announced that Amazon Prime,
29:06 or Prime Video, whatever you want to call it,
29:08 is doing like a quarterbacks version.
29:11 I don't know if you guys have seen quarterbacks
29:14 or full swing.
29:15 I think they're both on Netflix.
29:19 There's also an F1 version I have not seen.
29:23 They are doing like a behind the scenes
29:26 with certain players from this playoff run.
29:28 And it'll be coming out in the fall.
29:31 And the two Bruins players are Jeremy Swaman
29:33 and David Pasternak.
29:34 And the trailer looks electric.
29:37 The trailer looks terrific.
29:39 So again, the series will feature in-depth interviews
29:43 with key players, their rivals,
29:45 and those in their closest inner circle,
29:46 teammates, coaches, family.
29:47 The series will also reveal what life on and off the ice
29:49 is really like for the league's top players.
29:51 From the quiet reflective moments
29:53 to the speed and intensity of being
29:54 on hockey's biggest stage,
29:55 revealing the talent, grit, and sacrifice it takes
29:58 to make it in the NHL.
29:59 Superstar players followed in the series include
30:01 McDavid, Kachuck, Jacob Truba, Leon Dreisaitl,
30:04 Pasternak, Swaman, Quinn Hughes, Jack Eichel,
30:07 William Nylander, Philip Forsberg, and Gabriel Landeskog.
30:11 That's going to be a fascinating one.
30:12 Landeskog, given all he's been through,
30:15 going behind the decision-making there,
30:16 that's going to be really interesting.
30:18 In addition, crews will remain embedded
30:21 with McDavid, Kachuk, and their teammates,
30:22 families and friends during the Panthers and Oilers
30:25 pursuit of hockey supremacy in the cup final.
30:28 I am going to be all over this.
30:30 The Bruins are fortunate,
30:32 and you Bruins fans are really fortunate
30:33 to have Behind the Bee.
30:35 Behind the Bee is a great look at the ins and outs.
30:38 I know obviously it's through the Bruins,
30:40 so it's, you know, a Bruins, it's not, you know,
30:43 it's pro-Bruins, but it's still a phenomenal
30:47 and phenomenally done TV show.
30:50 I'm really curious to see what this is.
30:51 I wonder if this is going to be kind of like
30:53 Road to the Winter Classic,
30:55 in that, you know, behind the scenes, locker room speeches.
30:59 That's what we want.
31:00 That's what everybody wants to see.
31:02 These are the kinds of shows we eat up.
31:06 Quarterbacks on Netflix was phenomenal.
31:07 I've never watched Full Swing or the F1 show.
31:11 I don't, I want to say it's the same crew
31:16 that did Full Swing that's doing this.
31:19 I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that.
31:20 I don't, it's definitely,
31:21 I don't think it's not the same one as quarterbacks,
31:24 but it looks really good.
31:26 I'm very intrigued by it.
31:29 Is there talk of like Swayman's contract on this at all?
31:32 Does he make any mention of that?
31:34 Post Rock was in the trailer.
31:36 So I'm excited for this.
31:40 Again, it's not till the fall, unfortunately,
31:41 as we head into, you know,
31:43 after the cup and the NBA finals end,
31:44 it's the doldrums of sports.
31:47 Got like the Red Sox who are like
31:49 the most mediocre team on planet earth.
31:51 You got like the little league world series in August.
31:54 WNBA is in full swing, a lot of drama over there.
31:57 But so thankfully we'll have the,
31:59 this documentary to look forward to come next fall.
32:03 So yeah, that's been this solo Bruins beat.
32:06 I think we covered everything.
32:08 You know, number 10 pick with the Devils, Heinen,
32:12 voice of the Bruins, documentary,
32:14 who should you guys root for, all that stuff.
32:17 So again, make sure to subscribe
32:19 to the Bruins Ringside YouTube channel,
32:20 subscribe to New England Hockey Journal,
32:22 and always listen to these.
32:24 Thank you for all your support through the seasons.
32:25 And yeah, that's this week's Bruins beat.
32:28 I'm Evan Marinovsky,
32:29 Bruins Beat listeners, have a great rest of your week.
32:31 (upbeat music)
32:34 (upbeat music)
32:37 (upbeat music)
32:39 (upbeat music)
