The operator of Adelaide’s casino has been ordered to pay a $67 million dollar fine as part of a money laundering case.

00:09Now the casino was found to have failed in its requirements under anti-money and counterterrorism

00:18There were allegations of organised crime, loan sharking, human trafficking, sex slavery
00:24revealed in court documents.
00:26Now Sky City had already put aside more than $70 million to cover the penalty and has been
00:31ordered to pay $3 million in costs.
00:34The casino's activity also pushed the South Australian State Government to review its
00:38gambling operation penalties after this civil proceeding was launched back in December of
00:432022.
00:45The State Government introduced heftier penalties for casinos and that included increasing the
00:50fines from $100,000 to $75 million.
