00:00It's been absolutely fantastic. It's seen a long time in the planning and delivery
00:08shift. It's got bigger gradually over the years and then more rapidly recently. But
00:13it's absolutely fantastic.
00:14And what will this offer the community, Dr Osmond?
00:17So this is going to offer a state-of-the-art consulting rooms. We've got tons of space
00:25for community services. We've got physio, we've got ultrasound, we've got retinal screening.
00:31We've got lots of nurses rooms, so we can do everything we need to do.
00:35You've had a lot of support as well from the local community, haven't you, to make this
00:39happen. How important has that been to making this project come to fruition?
00:43It's been absolutely crucial. The support of Selby District Council is phenomenal in
00:51the planning stage and when some of the hurdles have been met, they've been absolutely fantastic.
00:57But the community in general, in terms of the service that we've used for our branch
01:03surgery at the elderly hospital, has impacted on patients in the convenience for them. I
01:09don't think it's impacted in the quality of care, but in the convenience for them.
01:12And our neighbours have been absolutely terrific and tolerant of many things, and so I guess
01:19the project is going well.
01:21And this is all because this particular area is expanding so much, so there was a big need
01:27to improve the facilities here, wasn't there?
01:29No, absolutely. We were absolutely running out of space. We needed that extra space.
01:33When I started working here 20-odd years ago, we had 6,000 patients. We've now got 812.
01:39And that's expected to increase as well, isn't it?
01:41That's expected to increase. Part of the planning was that we would be able to future-proof
01:46so that we have got room to expand.
01:48Yeah, and that's due to a lot of the housing being built in the area and everything.
01:52Well, it looks fantastic. I'm going to do a little tour and get a little bit of video
01:56here to show the Orchard Coast viewers. But thank you so much and congratulations on your
02:01hard work.
02:02Thank you.
